The Boys of Briar Hall

Rate this book
An Amazon top 50 dark romance series.

If you love dark humor, found family vibes, and a morally grey heroine with a tongue as sharp as her blades, this series will swallow you whole.
Morally black. Unhinged. Killers.

Corvus, Rook, and Grey – the Crows.

Bred in a world of gang wars, violence, and secrets, they rule the bloody town of Thorn Valley and all the people in it…too bad for me, I’ve never been good at kissing ass or keeping quiet.

Even if their black souls awaken something inside of me I thought was long dead, I can’t break. I won’t.

They think they scare me, that I’ll run and hide, but the joke’s on them. The Crows aren’t the first monsters I’ve faced, and they won’t be the last. There are worse evils out there waiting to take their stab at Ava Jade Mason.

I say let them try. I’m tired of running. Tired of holding back my darkness. Thorn Valley isn’t ready for a new boogeyman. Too bad I’m already here.

this story is intended for mature audiences and contains foul language, high heat, lots of murdery mayhem, and jealous/possessive themes. Please read responsibly.

♾️ stars. ALL THE DAMN STARS.

I seriously underestimated how much I would love this series. It took me by storm, made me stay up WAAAAY past my 'bedtime' - was on as an audiobook when I had to clean my house, read on my kindle in the dark of night as my kids fell asleep at night... its literally been my emotional support book the last 3 few days as I've read it 🥲 and now that it's finished? well, now I dont know what to do... nothing is going to compare to this, nothing is going to have the same emotional impact and the same depth as I felt while reading this.... I am so glad I was reccomended this book, and SO GLAD I read it. this is a God Tier series 🙌🏻 👏🏻 👌🏻

🇬🇧 Okay… where do I even begin with this series? Because this was a JOURNEY.

From the moment I picked up Crooked Crows, I knew I was getting into something chaotic, tension-filled, and addictive. What I did not expect was how quickly I’d go from “this is fun” to fully spiraling into obsession.

Book one sets everything up. AJ, our sarcastic, morally gray, no-nonsense FMC, gets thrown into Briar Hall, into a world of gangs, power plays, and boys who make it their mission to ruin her life the second they notice her.

And the banter? Immediate addiction.
The tension? Constant.
The dynamic? Exactly what you want from this kind of story.

From there, the series only escalates.

Book two deepens everything. The relationships, the stakes, the danger. The “wicked trials” push AJ into the Saints’ world in a way that feels earned, even if she resists it every step of the way. The stalker plot thickens, the action ramps up, and suddenly you’re not just here for the vibes, you’re invested.

Book three? Unhinged. In the best way.

The twists, the betrayals, the tension within the group, the way the harem dynamic finally solidifies without forcing a choice… I was HOOKED. Completely. Could not stop reading.

And then book four.
And this is where things get complicated.

Because the final installment delivers. It’s dark, emotional, intense. The beginning is probably the most brutal of the entire series, the desperation is real, and the stakes feel higher than ever.

But... The pacing of the resolution? A little too fast.

After everything AJ goes through, I expected more emotional fallout. The healing felt rushed. Some character arcs, especially Rook’s relapse and recovery, were resolved too quickly for the weight they carried. There are also small threads that feel dropped or underdeveloped, side characters that could’ve added more depth but were instead brushed aside.

And yet… I still loved this series.

Because what it does well, it does incredibly well.

The characters feel distinct and layered. AJ is unapologetically morally gray and stays that way until the very end. She doesn’t soften to fit the narrative, and I respect that so much.

The Crows? Each of them brings something different to the dynamic.
Gray is still my favorite.
Rook completely owns my soft spot.
Corvus… pain, but in a good way.

And Diesel? One of the most interesting characters in the entire series.

The relationships, especially the way the reverse harem dynamic develops naturally over time, felt organic and earned. The banter, the tension, the found family… it all builds into something that keeps you turning pages without even realizing it.

So yes, it’s messy at times. Yes, not everything lands perfectly.

But was I entertained? Absolutely.
Was I obsessed? Completely.

And honestly? That’s what I’ll remember.

E o banter? Viciante.
A tensão? Constante.
A dinâmica?

A partir daí, tudo escala.

O segundo livro aprofunda tudo.

O terceiro?

Caos absoluto. No melhor sentido.

A resolução pareceu-me rápida demais.

Mas senti-me entretida? Muito.

Fiquei obcecada? Completamente.

E, no fim, é isso que importa.

Well since there are 4 books in this e-book there is to much to say, to much happened. Basically this book is in a high school setting and they are seniors (18/19 years old) which seemed super unrealistic and kinda icky but I purposely forgot about that and pretended they were in college. Ava Jane is kind of a wreck and after her father dies she goes to this boarding school her aunt sets her up at in a town run by a gang called the Saints. The three adopted sons of the gang leader go to the school and basically run it. She intrigues them and she ends up being forced to join the gang and go through deadly trials after being caught following them. The guys are growing attached but don’t know if they can fully trust her yet. She joins the gang and deals with gang drama all while trying to figure out who her stalker is and how to prevent him coming after her and the men she loves. This was super entertaining and fast paced and Aves was a bad ass and it was cool to see how she complimented each man. My main criticisms are the age of the characters, I just didn’t like how young they were with the level of trauma, depravity, and debauchery. My second thing I noticed is that they never had a “I love you” moment. I was hoping for en epilogue where they go on tour with Corvous, when they graduate high school, or even like 10 years later when they should takeover the gang. Their story didn’t get enough happy ending if you ask me.

amazing series

I absolutely love this series!! I was hooked from start to finish.

Crooked Crows is the first book in the Boys of Briar Hall series. We meet our badass FMC Ava Jade and the three MMC Corvus, Rook, and Grey. I am so excited to be reading this series the first book wasn’t too spicy just a couple scenes however I am definitely addicted and want to see what happens. This is a why chose novel so definitely excited to see where this series goes.

I am loving this series. Ava Jade is a badass. I am loving her relationships with each MMC. The trials were absolutely insane and the stalker 😳. I can’t wait to keep reading this series.

Ava Jade, Rook, Corvus, and Grey are all paws when it comes to AJ’s stalker. This book so far has to be my favorite. You think you have everything figured out and then the ending 🤯

This is the last book in the Boys of Briar Hall series and I absolutely loved it. As someone who loves guessing what’s gonna happen I did not predict how it would play out. I love Ava Jade’s relationship with each guy. This is probably the first time I didn’t have a favorite and love them each equally. The smut and suspense is perfect for this series

"He was a fucking masterpiece. If he was a Saint, I might have to start praying."

At first, I was REAL iffy about this being a high school setting and was real icked out about how often homeroom was mentioned, but after I ignored that bit some, this was a great series. There were some plot twists that I absolutely expected whereas there were a couple that I didn't. Ava Jade is an absolute badass and funny as hell too. There were multiple times throughout this series where I laughed out loud (causing my husband to look at me like I was crazy but whatever). All three of the Crows (Corvus, Rook, and Grey) are adopted, have deep rooted trauma from their lives prior to being adopted, and each have their own levels of control issues. If you want jealous, possessive, obsessive, and intense in the way the FMC is watched and cared for... this is the series for you.

4/5 because it just felt like certain things were forgotten in the fourth book. Little things like: forgetting to remove a placeholder (name) or (location); using the wrong word in places; and fully forgetting punctuation in places. It took me out of the story sometimes or I would need to reread a section multiple times to understand what was going on.

Good Series

Ava has had a rough life but ends up at Briar Hall under the care of her wealthy aunt. There she becomes the focus of The Crows, the leaders of the school. They soon realize though that Ava isn't so easily broken. As they battle it out they come to a love hate relationship. They are drawn to each other. When circumstances bring Ava into their world things become more intense. Soon they find they are all in danger. Someone is set on destroying The Crows and owning Ava. As their enemy escalates they come to realize none of them are safe and the stakes have never been higher.
I enjoyed this omnibus. The characters are well developed and multilayered. Even minor characters are represented well. The intrigue and mystery are well done. This book definitely takes you on n emotional roller coaster.
The one thing I found slightly annoying though were the numerous errors throughout the book. Characters names switched, details mismatched, and proofreading errors. It was distracting and messed with the flow of the story.

If you’re looking for a dark romance series that keeps you guessing until the very end, The Boys of Briar Hall absolutely delivers.

I flew through books 1–4 because every single time I was convinced I’d figured out the villain… I was completely wrong. The mystery never felt predictable, and each reveal only made me question everything all over again. The suspense had me turning pages late into the night.

The emotional stakes were just as strong as the mystery. The relationships, the tension, the betrayals, and the constant feeling that no one could be fully trusted made this series impossible to put down.

And that final reveal? The plot twist surrounding the villain’s paternity absolutely blindsided me. I never saw it coming, and it completely reframed everything I thought I knew about the story. It’s one of those twists that makes you want to go back and rethink all the clues.

If you love:
🖤 Dark romance
🖤 Mystery that keeps you guessing
🖤 Emotional rollercoasters
🖤 Jaw-dropping plot twists
🖤 Characters with secrets around every corner

This series was such an entertaining binge.

Between the gang politics, Briar Hall, the constant twists, and the tension between Ava Jade, Corvus, Rook, and Grey, I was hooked from the start.

Ava Jade held her own, which I always appreciate in a dark romance. She wasn’t willing to let anyone intimidate her, and I loved watching her give as good as she got. Corvus, Rook, and Grey each had their own personalities and dynamics with Ava, which kept the relationships interesting throughout the series.

The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star read for me was that the characters definitely acted their age. They’re 18–19, and there were plenty of moments where the impulsiveness and emotional decisions showed. It fit the story, but I tend to enjoy slightly more mature characters, so it knocked my rating down just a bit.

Overall, this was a fun, addictive series full of tension, secrets, gang rivalry, and enough twists to keep me invested in finishing this omnibus.

After 1300 pages of intense story, plot and spice. It is finally finished and has left me fulfilled and searching for her next book. All 4 books are incredible. I absolutely adored all the mmc as well as the fmc. FMC Ava Jade is a bad ass who doesn't need saving, when she can save herself.

The spice was deliciously dark and intense, be advised if you're not into the dark you may want to skip this, because there's wickedness afoot in this series.

This story is intended for mature audiences and contains foul language, high heat, lots of murdery mayhem, and jealous/possessive themes. Please read responsibly.

Deliciously Dark & Twistedly Beautiful

If you like dark dark romance with a who choose reverse harem where the 3 MMCs are criminals that have a side project where they unalive people that hurt kids, an FMC that is just as crazy and vicious as the MMCs and a villain that is a sociopathic psychopathic sadistic stalker that is creepy AF…. Have I got a book recommendation for you!!

What an absolute ride that was. Parts were so dark I was grimacing but the plot was so enthralling and well done I couldn’t look away from the page. What awesome twists and turns. What incredible character development. What a show of sheer will against horrible odds. What a sweet well earned HEA.

Brilliant 5 star read. Loved it.

Honest Review - I loved lots of aspects of this series but also found it was quite longwinded and took ages for things to happen.
I feel there are a few unanswered questions from some of the scenes - With the aunt and mother. I did find it a bit strange that the stalker and Aves didn't interact much verbally when he kidnapped her - I thought he would also have disclosed he killed her father and it would of been nice to know why he was at the train tracks all those years ago too even if it was a one of POV.

All in all - the series is worth the read and I'm looking forward to reading the next series that follows the Crows cousins and Becca

♾️/10 ⭐️

I have never read devoured a series so quickly in my life (granted I took a break when I was on vacation) but there were ZERO dull moments in this series which is not something you experience often when reading a four book series. I absolutely loved every character and their development and the way some of these scenes in this book absolutely ruined me but in the best way. 🐦‍⬛🖤

I wish this series never ended BUT I will 1000% be reading the Kings of Kilburn series and anything else Ms. Lawson has written because I am obsessed.

Best Bad ass book series Ever!

I have yet to come across a better book. This whole series spoke straight to my soul🖤 Each chapter learning more about the Boys! Then Ava drags her suitcase in! Room and Ava were my favorite duo 💕I couldn’t put the book down! How they hunted her and then she hunted them. Then she was hunted by someone else. The twists and turns were great! The gang wars kept it interesting right to the end! I will reread this series again and again! Please Elena don’t stop making morally Gray no trigger books! My new favorite author

Really good but…

OK, I loved the plot and I loved the boys, the storyline was great and the twists and turns I liked a lot…but the FMC? She wasn’t a badass, she was just mean lol! I kept waiting for her to get better but even by the end of the book, I don’t really feel like she deserved to have the devotion of the boys that she did. I really didn’t like her and if the storyline wasn’t so good, I probably wouldn’t have finished this series but in the end I’m glad I did. Not a reread for me though so it’s a 3.5

Fly with the Crows little Sparrow, don't become a ghost.

Once you read the book, you will understand.
What a ride, in more ways than one. I loved AJ, her character and the guys. There is violence, there is steam and one kick arse heroine. I lost sleep reading it. I am also happy that AJ's bestie is starring in her own series.
If you like dark, steamy and thrilling. You will enjoy this series.

I didn’t want to put it down there was never a dull moment with this series.I also saw that there is a duet that goes along with this series containing side characters from this series and I will 100% be reading it.

Downloaded the 4in1 book where all 4 books were in one download and I honestly only gave it a 3 for the fact that I didn’t need to keep reading but didn’t want to put it on my dnf shelf. I lost interest early one, and it got predictable by the third of what was going on and what would happen in the end. Unfortunately it only counted as 1 book and not 4 but it’s an easy read as long as the trigger warnings were up your alley for dark romances

This book had me in an absolute chokehold. Like seriously I was at work and ignoring my coworkers half the time because I was so sucked into this world she’s created! The Crows and Ava Jade had me laughing, smirking, crying and sometimes wanting to throw something at them but I seriously couldn’t put this book down. I fell head first for these four and what a beautiful masterpiece of a ride it was! So so worth the read!

AJ has back bone from the start. doesn't take shit from no one, which I love because almost every book has the leading woman acting submissive from the start. the guys..... love them rook is definitely my favorite and the darkest of all the characters. this book shows each character change and grow. the way I felt when I thought them 4 characters died ....lawwwwd so good. this is the second book I read from this author and she did not disappoint.

what a wild ride that was!

This deserves all the stars! Absolutely wild ride. At first I was a little turned off that they were at high school. But as the story kept going I completely forgot!
I was hooked! Trying to figure out who unknown was. They all went through so much. SO MUCH!
A cat with nine lives! Cut and bullets couldn’t keep them down.
This was honestly such an amazing read and I highly recommend it!

Love this series

Im pretty sure I started this series before with the books as separates. Getting to read it all over again after quite some time and support the author is great. Love this story and its characters. The heat between them is delicious

The Only thing is that two things need editing. At two points you have things in brackets where I'm guessing they should have been adjusted in editing. 1. (name). 2. (direction)

Other than that, amazing series.

The way this is my ABSOLUTE favourite dark romance, why choose series!! Ava Jade is the most well written bada$$ FMC I’ve read and I Love the way the Crows compliment and uplift her. They aren’t her knights in shining armour, they’re her morally grey found family. Rook will forever have a special place in my heart and Ghost will always have a different meaning after this series!

what a ride

I was shocked at how great this series was. Love, betrayal, past trauma, new trauma, found family, really messed up but redeemable men is all included along with gang violence and a very stabby fmc. Ava Jade is my hero and was so fun to follow along with in this series.

Just couldn't do it, made it 20 or so chapters in before I gave up. There's a good storyline in here somewhere, the characters could have personality if the writing wasn't just so absolutely terrible. Took me a solid 10 chapters to figure out belly=boob, idiot=f#$k, trash=sh@t. Once the FMC was begging one of the MMC to idiot her I was out.

Rounded up, giving this full series 4.25 stars. While I prefer characters that are older, I just ignored that part so I could enjoy the plot, character development, emotional exploration, and of course the spice. If you’re interested in reading a spicy why choose series with emotional damage, action and bloody vengeance, this is a solid choice.

Brutal with a “touch” of bad@$$ery from the FMC

I always love a page-turning book with a strong female main character! Ava Jade took a literal and figurative beating throughout the book. Her Crows were there for her each step of the way. I read the complete series in three days because it was just that good!

Why choose trilogy in one book here!

Ava Jade is the kid from the other side of the tracks and transfers over to Briar Hall at her long lost aunts insistence and support. She’s immediately pulled into the Crows’ orbit and at first they want her gone but when all 3 desperately want her and she’s a baddie with her knives, plans change.

Everything about this was brilliant! The plot was INSANEEE, The spice is amazing but it doesn’t take away from the plot at all.. Ava jade the FMC is definitely now one of my top FMCs! She’s such a badass! and the boys… ughhh I loved them all but Rook, that’s my maaan 😏
If you love gangs, why choose, enemies to lovers, touch her and die, and found family… read this!!
