Crosswinds
As an outbreak of storms headed for Thunder Rock, Oklahoma, Dr. Maggie Blake, received a life-changing phone call from her former meteorology professor, giving her the green light on the grant funding she and her team had been praying for. Her team, STORMFRONT, had been working on a revolutionary way to weaken tornadoes–maybe even stop them altogether.

ohhh shut the fuck uppppp this was SO PERFECTTTT!! at the beginning the authors wrote that this duet will be a love letter to survivors of natural disasters, & while i completely understand how fortunate i am to not be able to image being in that scenario...i definitely have a sense of understanding now after reading these! 🥺🥺

Loved this too. I thought by reading both of novels (Hook and Exho) together and having a lot of the same dialogue from Hook and Echo at the start and end of the book would be too repetitive reading them so close but it wasn’t at all! I enjoyed getting to know Maggie’s version of events as we only get a glimpse at them in Hook and Echo

Crosswinds like every Brittany Ann book I read had me hooked from the very first chapter.
Told in dual pov and dual timeline we follow Maggie Blake and Jaxon Kennedy as they reconnect in Oklahoma during tornado season. Maggie is there collecting data for her and her team STORMFRONT grant and Jaxon is there as a photographer showing how tornadoes affect people and towns.
Crosswinds is a second chance romance that I could not put down. It had all of the science and tornadoes that Twisters did but infinitely more romance and spice and I loved every moment of it. Every time Jax said “Peaches” I was swooning. The way they fought their way back to each other was just perfect.
I can’t wait for Deliahs and Emilia’s stories, I was loving the teasers we got throughout crosswind and hook echo for their stories. Gerry cracked me up and I would love to see more of him and hippie vibes.

Review of Crosswinds (⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5)
Crosswinds, like every Brittany Ann novel I’ve picked up, grabbed my attention from the very first chapter. Told through dual POV and dual timelines, it follows Maggie Blake and Jaxon Kennedy as fate brings them back together in Oklahoma during peak tornado season. Maggie is there gathering data for her team’s STORMFRONT grant, while Jax documents the human impact of tornadoes through his photography.
This is a second-chance romance woven with storm science, and in many ways, it gave me the atmospheric intensity of Twister—but with a stronger dose of romance and spice. Every time Jax called her “Peaches,” I melted a little. Their journey back to each other had moments that felt truly heartfelt and hard-won.
I’m also excited for Deliah and Emilia’s stories, especially after the teasers we got throughout Crosswinds and Hook Echo. Gerry was hilarious, and I wouldn’t mind more of his chaotic, hippie energy either.
That said, I want to be clear that this landed at 3.5 stars for me. It felt very repetitive of Hook Echo, and while seeing Maggie’s POV was interesting, Maggie and Jax’s relationship sometimes frustrated me. Their banter didn’t always land, and I wished for deeper backstory and emotional build-up between them. I adored Hook Echo, but Crosswinds didn’t hit quite the same.
Still, the depiction of storm trauma and survival was deeply compelling. Brittany Ann captured the raw reality and lingering scars of natural disasters with powerful detail — those parts were incredibly well done.

Just finished Cross Winds by Brittany Ann. Like always I loved this book. Second chance romance storm chaser/photographer. It follows Maggie a fellow storm caster to Nova (from Hook Echo) Maggie as a teen was in an area that got hit with a tornado and much like Nova she had her mental scars from that time. When her and her then Boyfriend Jax were caught in a tornado that almost took their lives Maggie broke up with Jax. 5 years later Jax travels the world to take photos of the post disasters. Well when he goes to a small town and sees the last person he’d expect to see again Maggie. This book sucks you in, theres some drama mostly from the past. But it’s well written and flows so well with the 1st book.

Jax vows not to let her go this time, and Maggie refuses to let him back in. He is a persistent fella, and slowly breaks down her walls. A few Os help, too.
No third-act breakup, and they get their happily ever after!

Book 2 of the Stormfront Duet was Maggie and Jax's story. I was intrigued about these two after reading Hook Echo and getting little glimpses of them there.
This was a second chance romance, the couple coming together again after many years apart. Jax had wanted Maggie to leave storm chasing to keep her safe and she, of course, refused. Now, he still loves her and is more understanding of her career.
I liked seeing parts of the story we'd read in Hook Echo but this time from Maggie's point of view. All the drama!

I love Maggie and Jaxon so much! These two were absolutely perfect together and found their way back to each other was everything! Their story was filled with so much trauma and pretty sure I was going to go into cardiac arrest when they end up in the direct path of a tornado. Life of a chaser though right? Also the way Jaxon claims Maggie definitely made me feel some type of way that I totally understood why Maggie couldn’t resist him. I cannot wait for more from Stormfront and I’m going to start begging now for a Gerry book LOL.

Crosswinds takes place at the same time as Hook Echo, so even though there are some similarities between the two being that it’s in the same timeline, it wasn’t repetitive and I loved having it from two different perspectives! Second chance is one of my fav tropes and Brittany wrote it just right.
Also I need a novella just for Gerry at this point - PLS I love my little hippie man 🤣

I'm a little biased, but I think Cross Winds was an amazing installment in the STORMFRONT DUET. Getting to write this duet with you was so much fun, and I love Maggie and Jax and their anxious pining for one another just as much as I love Nova and Waylon's hot mess express avoidant attatchment.
Seriously, I cannot wait to work on the next two, and see where you take Zeke and Emilia. So honored and proud to be your friend, boo thang.

Ahhh! I sped read through this one, my first novel by the author. I look forward to continuing this series, and absolutely loved Jaxon (and Gerry has my heart for real).
The way trauma and PTSD were handled in this story is very well done, and highly recommend checking those triggers. So much heart and emotional depth here.

I adore Brittany Ann and all of her stories!
This duet was so good! Maggie and Jax’s story was filled with heart break but in a good way! It’s definitely different from the other books that she writes but it was just as good!
