Scottish rocker Julian McLane lives life as normally as possible. But fame can be lonely, which might be why he’d spent a year looking for the girl he caught making a wish behind the concert arena. His fans aren’t happy to share him now that he has found Emilie—too bad their violent displeasure only pushes the couple together.
Emilie needs protection from rabid fans, so Julian convinces her to tour with him and his prank-loving bandmates so his security team can watch over her too. Julian thinks their coupledom is as right as a love song. But something’s very wrong about murder victims wearing the band’s concert bracelets. Someone seems intent on downsizing the fandom.
Julian holds a twisted mess of clues about the killer’s identity, with every day bringing a different theory, and he’s beginning to think finding the killer means losing Emilie forever.

As a friend of the author, and someone who has been following this novel from basically the first word I can easily say this is one of the best romances I have ever read. What makes Julian's and Emilie's relationship different than most other romance I read is the fact that theirs is centered around a side story involving murder.
Anyone who doesn't read this is seriously missing out. I have seen this novel go through many drafts and all the hard work that the author has put into this. I won't say much because it may be all spoilers, and you all NEED to read this for yourself. Believe me when I say that this is a novel filled with excitement, sexy rocker boys, thrilling action and a romance that is beyond adorable.
- Scottish adorable boy. Who's a rockstar. Julian is so cute--his trains of thoughts amusing, sweet, a little sneaky, fun fun fun. Even when he's being a teenage boy, he's endearing just because it's so obvious he means well.
- Scottish adorable boy *in love*. He's so in love it's lovely. His relationship with Emilie--a girl who's experienced heartbreak--is the stuff fairytales are made off with a sprinkle of spices, because of course there's tension between them, and there's also drama.
- Drama. Drama that moves away from the normal everyday things that could occur between a new couple, because the kind of drama that occurs in here includes the factor that Julian's in the spotlight. It also includes actual murder. The mystery in Moment(s) keeps one's interest the entire time.
- Awesome side characters! The other boys of the band are hilarious. Seriously, this was the funniest pack of boys I've ever read about. My emotions when it came to them were: Want to hug them, want to hang out with them, want to smack them when they were being teenagers (my usual reaction toward teens, really, even when I was one), then go back to hug and hanging out with them. The chemistry between the entire band was top notch, and that was another factor that made the good times between them so successfully written.
Overall: A fast-paced, intriguing read with mystery, drama and a lot of moments of humor and romance :)
Lisa Terry really makes a statement with this fantastic debut! Well-written with lots of twists and turns, Moment(s) will keep readers on the edge of their seat.
Julian McLane, the lead singer of boy band Jagged Black, is adored by millions of screaming fans, but his heart belongs to the girl he saw making a wish into a fountain on November 11th at 11:11pm. Now a year later, Julian is back at that same fountain, ready to meet the girl of his dreams. Enter Emilie. She’s had a bit of a rough patch, and being swept off her feet by a handsome rock star was nothing she could have ever imagined for herself. Julian isn’t your typical rock star, he’s a gentleman who’s just looking for someone to connect with, and Emilie seems like the perfect girl for him. But fans are determined to keep them apart, plus there’s that pesky murderer…
This tale of young love will touch anyone with its simple sweetness. Julian’s determination to do what’s best for Emilie, even if it means he’s unhappy in the end makes him the ideal hero for every teenage girl. Plus, what girl hasn’t dreamed of having a famous rock star fall in love with her? This clean and beautifully written young adult novel is something that any parent would love to have their child read. With a hero who strives to be honorable, and a heroine who is determined to always do what’s right, not to mention the dark twists that will have your brain working overtime, it’s the perfect story to curl up with on a long weekend!
Looking forward to more novels from this fantastic writer!
The characters are amazing, each being relatable. The dynamic between the characters, especially Julian and Emilie was amazing.
The plot goes deeper than most books dealing with fame, fandom and bands, which was refreshing. It gripped me and had me hooked up until the last page.
Anyone who knows what it's like to be a part of a fandom will absolutely love this book.
I'm pretty sure the English snob in me fell for Emilie at the mere mention of her writing poetry in "iambic pentameter" but the girly side of me was in love with Julian, the rocker with a heart of gold, by the end of page three. Lovely characters, cool premise, and I adore the untraditional take on the love-at-first-sight scenario.
Lisa Terry generously gifted Moment(s) to me, and I can say the best compliment to her wonderful story would be the fact that, beside four kids living at home and a road trip to visit my eldest daughter, I still devoured this book in less than three days. This is quite the feat for me. I haven't read a book cover to cover in the past two years if it didn't have pictures in it.
I fell for Julian the moment I realized this rock star secretly pined for Emilie for a year. Growing up in the 80s and staring at my Bon Jovi poster for hours on end, I can safely ask: what teenage girl didn't wish her beloved didn't wish for her too? Then, when I found out Emilie was a writer, I thought, "See, Jon! It could have worked out."
All silliness aside, Moment(s) had me captivated from Chapter 1, something that doesn't happen to me often. Even with widely published books, my attention wans--probably has a lot to do with having all those kids.
I remember at one point, telling myself that I would stop at Chapter 10 and then get some work done. I couldn't stop. I was up late that night preparing for the next school year, but it was worth it.
This book hooks you from the beginning and leaves you squirming like a jabbed worm until the end. Pick up Moment(s), read it, put it down if you can, but you won't be able to.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/1505847869/... The sequel is coming in 2021. Writing a novel about a Scottish rocker is hard enough but add gymnast to the mix and I was seriously regretting some life decisions. But Julian's sweet personality wouldn't get out of my head, and his love for Emilie pushed me to write every day. I hope you enjoy this romantic mystery set in beautiful Alexandria, Virginia.
Moment(s) is my second favorite book by this author, next to White Star. Julian and Emilie are so realistic and wonderful, they felt like friends by the end of the novel. The mystery element was well-plotted and gripping, and the writing was excellent. I can't wait for the upcoming sequel!
Moment(s) is a mix of romance and mystery, with a string of murders in the background of the romantic dealings between Julian and Emilie. Despite there being some issues with the book I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I’m going to deal with that issue at the start so we can get it over and done with.
Basically, the book needed more proofreading. Reading a self-published book I’m expecting there will be some typos and things as the writer doesn’t have access to the editing team as someone publishing under a publisher. However, there were a few too many obvious typos in almost every chapter that could have easily been ironed out through a proofread. The last couple of chapters before the epilogue also needed more work as it was just very confusing and was nowhere near as polished as the first half of the book.
Now we’ve got that out of the way let’s talk about the actual story. I thought the plot was good and there were plenty of twists that I didn’t see coming. I also liked the mix of romance and mystery, I thought that combination of genre worked really well in this book.
The characters were great and all very likable. The interactions between the band members was realistic and humorous and just so well written. I also liked the slow build of the relationship between Julian and Emilie and thought their relationship was written very well. It was a bit predictable that they would end up together but the mystery going on in the background meant there was something to keep me reading.
I had some issues with the gymnastics described in the first half of the book. In addition to performing their songs the band also do some gymnastics on stage. I get that they are doing things that gymnasts wouldn’t normally do as they are outside the competition environment but some of it just seemed unrealistic. It was hard to visualise but at one point they were going directly from one piece of equipment to the next but given the structure of the equipment I don’t see how they could be placed close enough together for them to be able to swing from one to the other.
Overall I feel like the story had the potential to be a better novel than this. It perhaps needed a little more time to be edited before it was published. However I did thoroughly enjoy reading it and would definitely recommend it. I will be reading more books by Lisa Terry.
The characters were really interesting and the romance was good but the central mystery was convoluted. At some times it came off as an earlier draft, for instance character's names changed spelling at one point. Started off really strong but lost pacing from the Middle onwards.
