Making It Burn: A Steamy Enemies-to-Lovers MM Romance

Rate this book
Enemies. Rivals. Lovers. This isn’t a slow burn—it’s a wildfire, and neither of us is making it out unscathed.

Not him.
Not Mason Price.
The smug bastard who’s been gunning for my job since day one.
The guy who walks into every room like he owns it—
and pisses me off just by breathing.

We’re rivals. Enemies. Oil and water.
The only thing we’ve ever agreed on?
That we can’t stand each other.

So how the hell did we end up half-naked in his office after hours?
And why does it keep happening?

It was supposed to be one mistake.
One reckless, desperate kiss.
But now I can’t stop thinking about the taste of him—
the sound he makes when I push him too far.

We’re playing with fire, and it’s going to burn us alive.
Because the partners are watching.
Every rumor in the firm spreads like wildfire.
And if anyone finds out, both our careers go up in smoke.

I thought hating Mason was safer. Easier.
But somewhere between the late-night arguments and the stolen touches,
the man I swore was my enemy has become the only one I can’t live without.

'And that kiss.
Holy sh--. Mason Price kissed like he was trying to prove something— like he’d been holding back for so long that when he finally let go, it was explosive. Demanding. Perfect.
And then he’d run.
I rolled onto my back, staring at my ceiling. The same ceiling I’d stared at last night after stumbling home alone, confused and hurt and still tasting him on my lips.'

I loved this book. It was such a beautiful and relatable enemies-to-lovers romance. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Beau and Mason. Both were likable guys that had once been rivals, and now as adults, the dynamic between them was shifting. I liked the way their relationship developed. The chemistry and connection. I got really emotionally invested in these two.

'I thought about Mason, about the panic in his eyes right before he’d pulled away. About the way he’d said, we can’t do this, like it was killing him.
“What if the thing you want is the thing that’s worst for you?” I asked.
Cheri studied me for a moment, her expression softening. “Is it really worst for you? Or are you just scared it might be?”
I didn’t have an answer to that.'

With their history, new feelings, and work, it wasn't a smooth road. I liked that they both had support on their side encouraging them. I loved the supporting characters. I was hooked. 5 stars

Another beautiful, tender, well-written romance by Ian O. Lewis. This story of two high school rivals reuniting in adulthood and finding love may not contain many surprises, but it does hit all the highlights of a good gay love story. Enemies-to-lovers, longing, hidden relationship, struggling with identity and coming out...it was all deliciously tense and built to a very satisfying conclusion. My only criticism is thatvthere were a few bits and phrases that seemed a little repetitive and could probably have been switched up, but thats a tiny matter in the grand scheme and no reason to pass on this wonderful book.

This one is a 4/5 for me. The main characters are Beau and Mason. Both men are lawyers at the same firm. The two men were rivals in lacrosse when they were in high school and nothing has changed. Beau joins the same law firm as Mason. The two do not get along and end being assigned to the same high profile case. In spite of not liking each other the two men work well together. Both men are attracted to each other but Mason is afraid to be open. Beau wants more and this is a problem. The two men will have to do some growing if they will work.

Mason and Beau were once rivals on the sportsfield, but are now co-workers trying not to metaphorically burn the place down. From enemies to lovers these two go from no to woah, but one is afraid of being in the open. A sizzling and steamy read.

Crazy good! Beau and Mason were rivals in school and surprisingly rivals in business. As adults, these men have secrets. They are living life on the edge and struggling to face their truths. Great flow, sensitive discoveries. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
