Intriguing and addictive read.

I was hooked in to Daisy and Jake's story from the very first page, and eagerly kept turning the pages until the end. The intrigue, drama, tension and self-reflection was fascinating and addictive and I found myself completely embroiled in the unravelling story. The characters were strong, complex and multi-faceted and I found myself empathising with the dilemmas they faced. I loved the growing friendship and more that Jake and Daisy fell into while working undercover, and the chemistry and intimate scenes between them was a real highlight. A very thought provoking and insightful read.

I love Molly Staros narration and pair her with the sweet but sexy voice of Michael Gallagher and you have one hell of an audiobook!

Daisy is a strong, independent, and fierce FMC. Going undercover at a company on her own trying to discover their less than honorable business dealings.

Jake is a former SEAL turned security since being discharged from the Navy due to health reasons. He gets assigned to watch over Daisy.

The attraction between these two is evident right off the bat. I enjoyed their playful and sassy banter. Through forced proximity these two develop a bond that quickly turns into deep feelings and spicy moments.

This is my first book by Isabel Jolie and I found her writing to be captivating and deeply entertaining.

Jake & Daisy. We were introduced to them in the previous book and now we see how they get to know each other while Jake is on a mission to be her protective detail.

Both MCs are nice, but I have to admit I liked Jake a lot more, he was great in everything, a really nice guy.

There is a whole lot of suspense, mystery and investigation going on, so if that’s your style, definitely go for it. The romance is there but isn’t the protagonist.

Getting Justice And Finding Love
Wow! The second book In this series is just as good as the first: suspense, greed, romance, strong characters and a financial world most people know nothing about. Jake, a former SEAL, tough as nails but forced to a quieter life because of physical problems and Daisy, a programmer with a zeal, because her ‘uncle’ died under suspicious circumstances, go undercover together to find out what really happened. The story takes us into a world where life’s values are tested and every choice has complications. How true to the world we live in. A strong link to Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.
You won’t regret reading this book, I enjoyed it tremendously!

Once again a couple I am truly invested in and a storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat! Jake agrees to be security for Daisy as she goes undercover. This story leads you through murder and corporate greed all the while never knowing who the culprit is, or if there is a culprit at all. So well written becomes a quick read that is hard to put down!

Another gripping novel by Isabel Jolie, Only The Devil is book 2 in the Sinful State Series and focuses on Daisy and Jake who we met in Only the Wicked. Daisy is a kick-butt computer wunderkind who works for ARGUS and Jake is an operative for KOAN. Hired by Rhodes to watch out for Daisy while she attempts to uncover the truth around her uncle’s death, Jake’s former military and KOAN spidey senses are on high alert. Daisy is soon ensconced in the web of a clearly corrupt crypto-currency company and Jake, posing as her boyfriend to keep her safe, realizes that the danger is deeper than he thought - not just this shady company’s criminal underbelly but his falling hard for Daisy.

What a ride! I don’t know why I keep thinking I’ll be able to read one of Isabel Jolie’s book in my spare time. I read at least five chapters while standing in front of the open dryer with clean laundry in it. Getting to know Jake was amazing - when we met him in Only the Wicked, he seemed like an over grown kid, goofy and into video games. But we immediately realize that he is a complex guy with demons and depth. As his admiration for Daisy develops into friendship and then love, I definitely swooned a bit. Daisy is more than just a spitfire of a coder with a chip on her shoulder. Her childhood and her relationship with her mother continue to shape her in ways that, while she recognizes, she has a hard time letting go. Her attempts to be a strong and independent (and thus un-hurt) woman while investigating a truly dangerous company and keeping her feelings for Jake at bay naturally are unsuccessful. The feelings part. Which means we get spicy scenes. Which are awesome.

I know very little about crypto-currency, but like a curmudgeonly badger have been wary of it for years. This book definitely delves into another timely topic in a thoughtful and interesting way. Isabel Jolie clearly did her research and navigates the intricacies of investment firms and crypto in a way that makes this confusing subject accessible and absorbing. Twists, turns, danger, love, Only the Devil has it all. Grab this book, buckle in, and enjoy the ride!

Only the Devil is the second book in the Sinful State series, and introduces you to Daisy and Jake in great detail. This can read it as a standalone, but to get the full experience you should read book one to to help understand the relationship between Daisy and Rhodes and everyone else.

Daisy, is a genius coder and programmer happy with her life till it is turned on its head when her uncle dies under suspicious circumstances after he had been scammed out of his life savings by a shady investment firm run by CEO Philip Sterling and started a lawsuit action.

Deciding she needs to bring Philip to justice and expose his dealing she decides to go undercover at the company, taking a job with the sole purpose to build a market-prediction program.

Knowing this is a dangerous situation Rhodes decides to assign Daisy a bodyguard ex Navy SEAL Jake, who has been discharged from the Navy on medical ground of having an undiscovered heart issue and not sure where his next assignment is coming from he takes the job of being Daisy ‘fake boyfriend.’

Daisy gets gradually gets pulled deeper into Philip’s orbit with the offer of money she could only dream about and that would set her up for life, but this leaves her with a struggling as to now where her moral conscience now lays.

Daisy and Jake’s forced proximity bring feels and question about themselves and their relationship to the forefront as both have secrets that slowly start to creep into the light.

I was totally on the edge of my seat, with the mix of chemistry and romance add to that the suspense and I was sweating bullets.

The the narration on this audiobook was absolutely first class with Mollie Stark bringing just enough vulnerability and uncertainty to Daisy you totally felt her turmoil with the decision she made & Michael Gallagher was exceptional as Jake and he brought so much creep to Philip you couldn’t help but feel your skin itch.

A brilliant action packed emotional fast paced audiobook that keeps you engrossed from started to finish I can't wait for the next one.

Holy cow - I’ve yet to read a book by Isabel that I haven’t devoured! Even with my very limited knowledge of the tech/crypto/finance world, this book was phenomenal! The suspense was at an all time high and I was hooked from the very beginning. Daisy and Jake are the absolute perfect couple as they both are very intelligent and strong characters. I really enjoyed Jake’s backstory of his military lifestyle before he joined KOAN. This book had a little bit of everything - suspense, murder, and secrets.

Coming from a military background, Jake is rough around the edges and extremely protective of Daisy. When he’s hired to take on bodyguard duty to protect her, this man is a force like no other. From the beginning, the connection between these two is evident as tension starts brewing. He’s a brute and 100% all man, but when it comes to Daisy he melts at the seams. His personality switches were a perfect dose of both worlds. Even though he was protective, it was never overbearing as Daisy was fully capable of taking care of herself.

Daisy is such an intelligent woman - creating computer codes and software like it’s easy. When she discovers a fraud scheme, her abilities are put to the test and boy does she not disappoint. Her and Jake together were the ultimate power couple as their intelligence put together was no match for anyone. She’s a force just like Jake often times putting herself in danger to uncover the truth. She fought like hell to get justice for wrongdoing and I think we can all appreciate that.

Enjoyed this one!

Book two of The Sinful State Series, Only the Devil by Isabel Jolie, grabbed my attention from the get go. Not one to pickup partway through a series, I didn’t feel this negatively impacted my enjoyment of Daisy and Jake’s story.

Now finding his way in the civilian world, since his recent medical discharge from the Navy. Jake lands a position with KOAN, a security firm. Many military veterans struggle when faced with civvy life. I liked how Jake was able to find his role within KOAN and still have the camaraderie of a team, and to utilise the skills he acquired from his Navy service.

Jake is tasked with providing protective detail for programmer Daisy, a tiny yet fierce woman who has taken it upon herself to investigate dodgy, fraudulent dealings targeting veterans and retirees. Daisy is determined to get answers especially since the mysterious death of someone close to her was targeted in these financial scams.

I was impressed at how quickly I was drawn into this story. Isabel continued to build the intrigue and suspense throughout. Teamed with the performances by Mollie Stark and Michael Gallagher, this audiobook was a joy to listen to.The ability of Mollie and Michael to give distinguishable character voices, are so very suited to each character! Loved their take, on all the different personalities.

I thought Only the Wicked was amazing… and then Isabel wrote this. Wow.

Daisy is the kind of heroine that stays with you. She’s determined, brave, and deeply loyal to her family, and the way she carries the weight of her uncle’s mystery while still showing so much care for the people she loves was incredibly moving. Her strength isn’t loud—it’s steady, relentless, and earned.

The romantic suspense in this book is next level. Fake dating, high-stakes infiltration, dangerous wealth, and a hero who has survived combat zones but is undone by watching the woman he loves walk into danger? Perfection. His struggle between duty, fear, and very real feelings made every moment tense and emotional.

Only the Devil is the outstanding second second installment in this series that is filled with drama, intrigue, action, mystery, and steamy hot connection. Daisy and Jake find themselves thrown together and embroiled in the complexities of a situation neither of them expected. I adore Jake’s southern drawl, his directness, and his unwavering loyalty and respect for Daisy. A brilliant coder with an amazing support system (though she doesn’t realize it), Daisy is real and relatable and so very human. Her attraction to Jake is equally palpable as his visceral physical and emotional connection to her. Author Isabel Jolie created an incredible balance of relationship building and plot development. The third act drama is twisted and delightfully engaging, taking us on a breathless thrill ride to the very end. The narrators’ performances are awesome! Evoking emotional reactions from me as I listened, I felt right there in the story with these characters. I loved this audiobook and can’t wait for the 3rd story in the series!

Enjoyable:
This was a lovely second addition to the series and it can very much be read as a standalone. It lagged a bit midway but I enjoyed the suspense and action at the end. I also wish that the rest of the KOAN team had of been featured more as I had liked getting to see them interact and work together in the prior book. The focus this time around was mainly on Jake and Daisy. In addition to navigating their romantic feelings, they had to grapple with moral dilemmas such as personal ethics, ambition, and justice. I was a little disappointed in some of the decisions Daisy made and she'd waver and seemed to contradict herself. However I was pleased with her personal growth and glad that these found each other.

Audiobook: I was as entertained by this story as much as the first one in the series. This story was based on one of my favorite tropes that of a fake relationship. I admired Daisy as she was determined to find justice. I liked Jake who had sorrow because of the ending of his military career, but he wanted to excel in keeping Daisy safe. My attention was kept by all the twists and turns, and I appreciated the flashes of humor provided by the witty remarks between the characters. I enjoyed the dual narrations provided by Mollie Stark and Michael Gallagher as their performances enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given an advanced listener's copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

We met Daisy & Jake in Only the Wicked, the first book the Sinful States series. The characters are interconnected but this book can be read as a standalone. Daisy has left her employer to uncover what actually happened to her girlhood father figure. Luckily for her, her boss is more friend than employer and provides her with personal protection by way of Jake. I’ve not read many stories with a wealth gap where the FMC is the moneyed character. I really loved how their values aligned and that people and integrity were more important than the pursuit of wealth. The villains come in many forms so the suspense in finding out what was really going on was constant. Well-written, evenly paced, intriguing story.

This had me from the beginning! It was a nice change of pace from my normal dark romance. Mystery, suspense, and love... who could ask for more?? Mollie Stark &

Jake (Michael Gallagher) and Daisy (Mollie Stark) have a wonderful back and forth! I laughed at them and audibly "awed" a few times.

The mystery behind the whole thing definitely keeps you on your toes! The anxiety (in a good way) every time Daisy walked in that building lmao!

Breaking all the Rules!

Intrigue and suspense wrapped in a sinful package with pages and pages of heat! Jake and Daisy hooked me quick with their easy banter and smoldering chemistry. Jake’s southern charm mixed with Daisy’s independent spirit was guaranteed to make you smile and root for them to cross the lines. Not only were they tossed together to solve a mystery that kept you guessing until the very end, they were both determined to stay in their own lanes . . . until they didn’t, and their romance sizzled through the pages. I completely enjoyed the audiobook, and the narrators did a fantastic job taking you through their story with all the feels and chills. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

Daisy and Jake were destined, just like Daisy’s Horoscopes. LOL There’s a slow burn as Jake breaches Daisy’s mile thick walls. Her family seems to only use her for the money she sends them, so why should anyone else care for her? But when you’re occupying the same small apartment, hearts might open up. But that’s not all. Daisy is undercover in a situation she doesn’t understand, and Jake’s got her back. Everything isn’t always as it seems, and they work great together trying to solve the case. There’s lots of tense action in the conclusion. Like every Isabel Jolie book, you’ll hang on every page. I’m so glad I didn’t miss this one.

I'd give this ten stars if i could. It was a remarkable story. Action and romance, suspense and twists.

When Daisy does undercover, Jake must act as her boyfriend. But soon things get out of control when events happen.

I really enjoyed the suspense in this book. Edge of your seat type of suspense that had me trying to read faster to keep up. The affection between Daisy and Jake grew as the odds changed, and the stakes were so much higher.

Beautifully written. I have so much respect for this author and the word she puts down. The danger, drama, and amazing relationships that come through keep me involved. So good!!

Another fantastic draw-you-in-until-the-end book from this author. Daisy is taking her computer skills into a company that she believes caused her uncle’s demise. Jake is hired to protect her. From there we have a masterful story of corporate greed, corruption, betrayal and on the edge twists. Amidst this, we have the slowburn banter filled sizzling romance between Jake and Daisy. While this can be a standalone, I do recommend reading the first book to understand the dynamics of Daisy, Rhodes, and the rest of the Security team. Cannot wait for more in this series.

First and foremost, Michael Gallagher is one of my absolute favorite narrators and his work is *always* top tier, so I knew when I got the chance to listen to this one? It'd be amazing.

Molly Stark is new to me but my gosh I LOVE her voice and narration and I shall definitely be looking forward to more of her in the future.

This one definitely kept me on my toes and the way to the end and oh my gosh the way I wanted to yell at Daisy for some of the things she chose to do.

This audio was full of twists, turns and I was *invested* The romance between these two was also so well done and even though it was a slow burn, the tension between these two was just phenomenal. I also absolutely love a "he falls first," trope but add in being roommates too? Oof.

Bravo to both narrators and Isabel for creating such a intriguing world!

Jake's protector instincts create both slow burn chemistry and lead to emotional entanglements. But it's the thrill of the who'dunnit that works for this one...

Isabel Jolie has written another gripping story full of suspense, action, intrigue and, most importantly, romance. Jake and Daisy have fierce chemistry, and their relationship is gripping and intense. And Jolie has once again given readers a plot with of-the-moment concerns, this time finance moguls and cryptocurrency. The characters are immersed in a world of infinite wealth—with all of its poisons and pitfalls. “Only The Devil” is a page turner you won’t be able to put down.

Wow, I didn’t think Izzy could top Only The Wicked, but she did. Jake and Daisy’s story (adventure) is so good. With its twists and turns and the fact that they are kind of opposites to begin with, this book takes you through it all. There is so much I could say, but you really need to read this book for yourself. You are going to love it. I couldn’t read it fast enough to get to the end and find out where the twists and turns were taking me. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Izzy, you have set the bar really high!

Another intriguing, fast paced story from Isabel Jolie. Daisy eager to find answers to her uncle’s death, she goes undercover at Sterling, the financial company she believes responsible. Her boss, worried for her, hires, Jake, ex Seal to make sure she is safe. As they dig deeper into the company, feeling development between the two of them. This is the second novel in the Sinful State series, this one was every bit as suspenseful and page turning as the first.

Only the Devil is the 2nd book in the Sinful State series, but can be read as a standalone. I loved Daisy and Jake's story with its action-filled suspense, explosive chemistry as well as the witty dialogue. As an added element it delves into the push-and-pull between sticking to personal beliefs and giving in to temptation. A fascinating page-turner that kept me glued to the pages. I was fortunate to have received an early copy and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

Wow what powerful story of Daisy trying to find proof of Sterling Financial company. She is a smart programmer. Jake is working for KOAN and is hired by her former boss to protect her. The story is very fast moving-I could not put it down. This book has it all..intrigue and a love story. It is a book that keeps you guessing-never saw the ending coming. Highly recommend.
