Dokja has been able to step one step ahead in the apocalypse thanks to his knowledge of TWSA, but what if he were to lose that advantage? In the next scenario, he must contend with others like himself—readers! The so-called “Oracles” pose a greater threat than anything Dokja has faced so far, and the most dangerous of all is their leader, a shadowy mastermind pulling the strings behind the scenes, who seems to know too much to be an ordinary reader…
Im dnfing this series for now because i dont really like the format of it. I feel like I'm just not understanding what people love about this so im welcome to any input as to why any of you liked it.
The gaming/webtoon novel thing is all so new to me so I'm learning so much. My mind is blown. I am appreciating the creativity all of this has and it's cohesive story with the twists and turns. I'm here for the ride, baby!
Survival continues for Kim Dokja and party. Taking over different stations to survive the 4th scenario for The King’s Path. Dokja discovers he isn’t the only Reader of Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse but he is the only one to have completed it. He continues to grow his party using tricks and smarts including impersonating the protagonist Joonghyuk Yoo. What could go wrong?
I know that it is all about strategies to survive in this imaginative world. However, I still feel extremely sad when I have to accept the fact that violence is an important part of human nature.
to the people who are complaining that the official eng translation is being tediously split and other light novel eng translations got full omnibuses and its different from the fan translation: do you know you have been effectively pirating ORV for years now? yeah, its a fan translation and there wasn't an eng translation to fall back on before this, but hundreds if not thousands of english speaking people have been effectively pirating ORV for years and years, the original writers and those volunteer translators not earning a dime for their efforts in the process. i will gladly buy all 23 probable volumes and more to support the actual author that wrote the book that i am reading. even if you dont have disposable income like that, your library will fucking buy it for you if you request it. your moral high ground of a "better translation" for pirating something thats 1.5 million words and then complaining later that theres a lot of books for the whole series does not make you morally superior in any way. in fact, it makes you morally inferior because even if the volumes could be bigger - why are you shitting on people actually trying to be adequately compensated for their own work? imagine you are singNsong (holy moment there, i know) and you find out that thousands of people have been pirating your work and they are just complaining about having to now pay to access a version that you actually have approved of to convey your artistic message across to a whole other audience all over the world. people are too used to everything being handed to them, imo
I don't know if it's the formatting or the translation etc but the writing in this is very childish? ( I don't mean that to be a negative thing just it's hard to describe the feeling). Like I get Dokja has for knowledge but everything he does is so op you never feel any real peril . Bit like a Saturday morning cartoon? And it tends to over explain stats so it becomes a boring list. The base of the story is fun but I just kept waiting for the scene to be over.
I'm impatient for the next book now. This series is like if someone read dungeon crawler Carl and then it happened in real life and they were like "well I know how it ends and what Carl should've done so I'll try to do that" and then it changes the story. I think it's estimated to be 10 English volumes and the manwa is ahead of the novel right now.
this series really needs to be adapted into an anime, I want to see it have a one piece level adaptation, I just know the author had to have made an insane world map to keep track of all the characters and places and factions
despite the ever growing number of characters and twist, this book is astonishingly easy to follow. that could possibly be bc I read it in one sitting and didn't have an interval to forgot anyone lol
This volume introduces two of my favorite early arcs in the series: Night of the Prophets and War of the Kings.
I loved how Night of the Prophets expands the story by introducing other readers of TWSA. The mystery surrounding the First Prophet’s identity was one of the highlights for me. War of the Kings was just as enjoyable, especially the “flag game” and all the strategies behind it. And of course that ending was mind-blowing.
Dokja continues to be such an intriguing protagonist. Even though we’re inside his head, so much about him remains a mystery, and the novel does an amazing job of exploring his thoughts in a way the webtoon can’t.
And, of course, Han Sooyoung is amazing. She immediately shakes things up and makes for a fantastic antagonist to Dokja. I can’t wait to keep reading!

read the whole thing as the webnovel online, so i cant say much to the single volume or the translation.. but ORV as a whole is a great story, packing great story telling, emotions and action! (tho changing the word 'Dokkaebi' in the physical release is kinda dumb..)
Honestly, Kim Dokja stresses me out so much 😭 I absolutely love him, I just want to wrap him up in bubble wrap and cuddle him in my arms, never letting him go. He truly is a precious MC and a breath of fresh air from the usual MC you’d read about.
We’ve learned quite a few things in these episodes and some new characters were formally introduced. I’m still not a huge fan of Yu Junghyeok, still haven’t seen enough of him but the pattern is still the same of him showing up and trying to kill Kim Dokja. But we have found out something that might humanize him a bit more, so I’m excited to see how things develop in the future.
I absolutely adore the constellations, whenever Kim Dokja stresses me I have the constellations to help me keep my sanity. I also really loved the shine on the historic constellations and how they helped out in these episodes, but my favorite constellations are still Secretive Plotter and Prisoner of the Golden Headband!
I’m very excited for how things will continue from here and what Kim Dokja intends to do with this unending animosity between him and Yu Junghyeok. Starting up the next chapter now!
Biased as hell bc I’m already a fan but this is one of my favorite early arcs so I had a great time. It’s hard to cut up web novels into physical books bc it’s not as standard in where a book should begin or end - ORV suffers from that too in the physical books; the beginning of this book just picks right up from the end of the last but if you can’t remember what happened then im sure it can be a struggle. The end of this book, however, had a perfect stop point.
Instead of just creating random characters, the choice to use figures readers would know (historical figures, mythical figures, etc), ORV educates its readers and increases the emotional investment. This strength shines greatly in this particular arc.
Some stories like this is boring bc the MC seems OP and what’s the point? But ORV does such a good job of making you feel like - yes dokja is OP but by his knowledge - but he can fail.
I will continue to be obsessed with these books forever. I just think Kim Dokja is a perfect main character. I love him so much. Overall this book was quite fun. We moved along a good bit in the story now that we have our main Dokja crew and main Joonghyuk (or however you want to romanize his name) crew so that allowed us to push the story forward a bit more. I did love that we finally got Han Sooyung in this book! I've been waiting for her to show up (I say like I haven't at least read the original first volume before). Overall an exciting read. I can't wait to keep following Dokja on all of his adventures until the very end.
4.25/5 stars - So, I've been dropping a review every 5% of the book I read because there's supposed to be 20 volumes, so it should roughly match up.
I read this quite slowly so I kind of forget what the recent 5% covered, but I'm loving that we have HSY here now, she's such a fantastic character. And there's a lot of foreshadowing about the role she's going to play later... or rather, the role she's already played?
We also got some more insight into KDJ's psyche, a glimpse at his backstory, a little bit about what the 4th wall actually is.
So nothing particularly exciting I think, but it's all leading up to the climax of the 5th scenarios which is fun.
The mystery is so great. I am loving this story. Sadly I know that this is barely the start of the whole story. But I like the translation and its easy to follow. I am considering if I should see if there is any other translations out there, but I also know it will be harder to read.
I dont say this translation is the best there ever was but it is consistent and I imagine i would have a hard time learning another translators flow of writing.
Will keep this on the lookout. Just a warning for the rest of you that it will probably be more than 5 (or even 10) volumes for this story to finish.
I would act out too if a bunch of strangers doubted my being while altering a monumental life-or-death task, right after the guy I keep bickering with makes your drama everyone else’s problem. You’re so real for that, Dokja.
On a more serious note (spoilers from here on) this volume really starts to dive into the very interesting conversation of who/what is a part of the story. Not to mention, the title King of a Kingless World is filled with so much meaning, it makes me anticipate the upcoming scenarios with a sense of anticipation despite knowing what comes next.

I love ORV and I remember the feeling of reading the last part of this novel in the webcomic - sooo good! I just feel like NOW we're really cooking! The capture the stations ft oracles part was just an okay scenario to me, but with, of course, some really interesting developments 👀 but what follows is really great! I'm really looking forward to the next book!
