Nothing can keep them apart, not distance, not the veil, and not even a possessive spirit–no matter how hard he tries.

Thorne
Despite being surrounded by the dead, life is lonelier than ever. I tried to respect her wishes, but it turns out I can’t live without her. When Solaneen Gomez left, she took my heart with her, and I want it back. I want her back. There’s just one thing standing in my way: the dead man who’s obsessed with her.

Little do they know, I never gave up on her. I’ve been tracking, watching, and planning for my chance to bring her home. And once that happens, she’s never getting away again. We had a deal: not even in death do we part.

Sol
Most people run toward love, but I’ve been running from it. Unfortunately, the reason I had to flee came with me. Years ago, I left my happily ever after behind to protect the man I love. It was either let him go or lose him to the jealous entity that’s attached to me.

It was only supposed to be temporary. But as the years stretch on and no one can help free me from his clutches, my resolve weakens. There’s only one way to end our suffering and ensure he remains safe—give the relentless spirit what he wants, me.

Light as a Feather is the final interconnected standalone in the Haunted Hearts series. This book can be read as a standalone.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This was my first paranormal/ghost spicy book and I'll be honest it was definitely a RIDE! I personally struggled to begin with to understand how it all worked but that is entirely a me-problem and not at all to do with the fantastic writing of Light As A Feather.

I ended up really enjoying this one. It was a new premise for me but definitely one I can get behind (or have them both behind me 😉). The spice was beyond 🥵 and the plot was so original and fantastic. As a curvy, autistic person who has experienced quite a few of the same problems as Sol it was so beautifully handled and well written. My hat off to Alexia for a job well done 🥳

I truly wish I could form the right words to express how much I loved this book but words are failing me right now. I’m just sitting here in the dark having finished Light As A Feather and I’m just overcome with emotions. I have loved every book in this series, and in fact have given books one and two 4.5 stars, but this one? I think it’s my favorite out of them all. Light As A Feather has such a rich, dark, macabre, and romantic atmosphere to it that instantly hooked me. I cannot emphasize enough how incredible Alexia’s writing is. Some authors really know how to pull off that mix of horror, gothic, haunting, yet intensely romantic tone and she is without a doubt one of my favorites that does it so well.
Alexia’s books came into my life when I needed something fresh in the dark romance genre, something that stood out amongst everything else. And to find a series that did so while also being diverse and celebrating beautiful plus sized bodies?! My review will not do this book or series justice so I’m just gonna say: read it and experience it for yourself

5⭐️
4🔥

What to expect:
Bi/pan couple
Black MMC
FMC is Mexican-American, autistic, & plus size
Highly protective and absolutely devoted MMC
Second chance
Forced proximity
Gomez & Morticia vibes
Morally grey
Spirit attachment
Dark & paranormal
Unconventional HEA
Spitting
Spicy possession and dream walking
Horror elements

TW/CW:
This is where I normally list out everything but with Alexia’s books I have always just said go check out the lists in each of her books because they are as thorough as you can get. There’s also a guide in the back of the book that breaks it down chapter by chapter so if you’re sensitive to a certain topic and want to know what chapters to skip that contain it you can look that up as well. However I will name a few here: child abuse (physical/emotional, flashback), grooming of a teen (mention;past), inappropriate sexual encounter with a minor (mention;past), suicidal ideation, assisted suicide, suicide, romanticizing death, violence against women. Again this is just a few so please go to the front or back of the book for a full list.

*I received an ARC from author in exchange for an honest review*

This book was a love letter to any souls that find peace in the darkness, understanding in the macabre, and comfort in the paranormal. It's gothic, dark and somewhat eerie at times, with all the Morticia and Gomez Addams/ Shelly and Eric Draven vibes, and I. Was. Here. For. It. All!

The final book in the Haunted Heart series (I think?) delivers on the 'haunted' aspect with a lot more emphasis than the previous books. This can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the previous two books as they're amazing (honest, I adored them!)

I really loved the main characters in this book, and saw so much of myself in Solaneen, especially with her struggles with Autism and always feeling like the odd one out. The rep was written perfectly, and I equally loved her dark yet caring personality. Matched with her perfectly, like the literal definition of soul mates, was Hawthorne. His character was equally so well written, I truly felt his pain and yearning, his devotion and determination. He always anticipated Sol's needs- both physically and emotionally- and he also never treated her neurodivergence as an obstacle or burden. His words were always on point, his speeches left me breathless, and their spicy scenes left me fanning myself.

The plot very much centres around the paranormal, with a vengeful spirit named Ivan clinging to Sol as he tries to claim her. He's obsessed and cruel, sadistic and possessive. Hawthorne wants to save a reluctant Sol, who only sees herself as a danger to Thorne and their love, but eventually the pair open up, share their experiences from the time they were apart, and agree to work together to get rid of Ivan once and for all in order for the couple to finally be at peace- whether it's in life or death.

I know Alexia Onyx tends to write unconventional happy endings, so I should have really known another one was coming, but it still didn’t stop me from being shocked at the morbid twist the book took in the last fifth or so. Admittedly, this time I wasn't keen on it, but that's down to pure personal preference, I think others will definitely enjoy the darker tones and how the couple winds up together. The epilogue was so sweet yet macabre, a perfect fit for this particular couple and their story.

Overall, another spooky, spicy and meaningful paranormal romance from one of the best authors of this genre. Come Out, Come Out will always remain my favourite, but this book has definitely taken the second spot purely for how seen I felt and for the love languages I swooned over in this story. Truly, Hawthorne is a man after my own heart (if it wasn't already taken by his Nightingale/ Omen!)

4/5 🌟

A book so good I kept saying, "just one more chapter" so long that I fell asleep, and when I woke up at 2:40 AM, I just had to finish it before going back to bed again.

Alexia Onyx has grown so much as an author throughout this series, though all three books in this trilogy are great, I feel like this book shows off just how sharply she can create a story. I regularly think about the characters in her novels, and Light As A Feather is no exception- Thorne and Sol are stuck in my head like a great song.

I loved the course of their relationship, how they interacted with each other and spoke to each other. We really got to see the depth of their bond and just how much they loved each other. Not only that, the cast of characters was just simply great. I felt like I had a good grasp for every character who was written in this book and the roles they played. Getting to watch them all interact gave me everything I wanted.

My feelings were up, down, and HIGH STRUNG while reading this book. When I tell you I was stressed out... Because the writing in this book makes you care so deeply about the characters. I felt like I was apart of the book, there with them in this impossible situation.

I will say, you've got to be a certain type of reader to enjoy this. If you have triggers, definitely read the content warnings before delving in. Alexia Onyx's books are filled with hard topics, from the things her characters go through to how they cope with it, but it feels so real in a way that books rarely touch on. The feelings the characters have feel so intimate to me, feelings those who struggle with mental health and neurodivergence feel every day, but something that you can't put into words or express without laying your whole heart out.

***A huge thank you to Alexia Onyx for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review***

Light as a Feather
Written by Alexia Onyx
Digital Editions Released Early
Paperback Edition Released October 1, 2025

!!! Please check content warnings before reading!!!
This book is intended for readers who are 18+

𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒊𝒍, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒂 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕–𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔.

I was introduced to the Haunted Hearts series just this year, with the audiobook release of Come Out, Come Out. I was lucky to be chosen by Alexia Onyx, NetGalley, and Tantor Media for an Advanced Listeners Copy and from there, an obsession sparked within me.

Upon completing my listen of this audiobook, I immediately read Warmer, Colder. Warmer, Colder introduced us to Hawthorne. We didn’t get much backstory from him and discovered the Hawthorne could see ghosts when he was hired by Becca’s parents to confirm if Becca was still haunting their home or if she had moved on and found peace. This book made me view the Bop It in a whole new light...

Once I completed Warmer, Colder, I started a search to find the third book and instead found an application to be an ARC reader. When I was selected by Alexia Onyx and received the email that I had been chosen, I was beyond excited! Thank you again to Alexia Onyx!

Hawthorne wasn’t a big character in Warmer, Colder but he is the MMC in Light as a Feather, which focuses on his love (and obsession) for his childhood best friend and ex-girlfriend, Solaneen Gomez (and her very annoying and restless entity). This book is promoted as being able to be read as a standalone; but, I do recommend reading the series in order. It felt like there were little connections that wouldn’t be fully understood without first reading Becca and Stasi’s story.

!!! Again, please check content and trigger warnings before reading this book!!! Light as a Feather is a dark paranormal romance and does feature content that may trigger readers. There is mention of suicide and grooming/rape.

Star Rating: 5/5 Stars

This book had a story that read slower than the previous two books but that wasn’t a bad thing for me. The story held my attention and brought forward lots of emotions. The ending became faster-paced and had me wondering what would come next!

Sol is a plus sized main character who struggles with Autism and sensory issues. She always feels that she is the odd one out and Hawthorne has become her safe space despite the fact she has continuously tried to distance herself from him. Hawthorne is a man working through his grief and desperate to create a space that Sol can love and accept herself in. He never treated her neurodivergence as an obstacle or a burden and worked with her, rather than against her.

Tropes (and unintentional possible spoilers)
- Paranormal Dark Romance
- Second Chance Romance
- Morticia and Gomez Codes Relationship (Hawthorne Addams – I see what you did there, Alexia & I love it!)
- Paranormal Investigator & Medium MMC
- FMC with Spirit Attachment
- BIPOC/Latinx Character
- Mental Health Representation
- Plus Size FMC / Plus Size Representation
- Autism Representation
- HEA

Come Out, Come Out will forever hold the spot as my favourite in this series but this book has a special place too. This read cozier than the other two books but still carried the same style of story as the other books did.

Spice Rating: 3/5 Stars
*This is a personal rating and not at all in relation to the content of the writing or the frequency. This is strictly just a personal way for me to gauge how I felt reading them.

Although there was scenes aplenty in this book, the scenes were just not what I personally expected or was looking for. They are open door and detailed!! Hawthorne is a big dirty talker and Sol is more than willing to obey in order to please him. Sol is also very relatable for me in these scenes as her anxiety shines through with “what-ifs” when Hawthorne starts things. The scenes were perfect for the relationship and exactly as I would expect from their personalities.

I would like to Thank Alexia Onyx again for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are of my own but this series has captured a place in my heart and will be one I talk about moving forward. Alexia’s writing style truly sticks to the personalities of the characters no matter the tone of the story – which is something I do not find in many books and makes her writing style stand out even more so than other author’s I have read.

My Book Rating System
1 Star means it was a DNF.
2 Stars means I should have chosen to DNF.
3 Stars means it was okay. I will not read this again.
4 Stars means it was good. I will probably read this again.
5 Stars means it was amazing. I am obsessed.

My Spice Rating System
Green Pepper means no spice.
1 Pepper means it has closed door or implied spice.
2 Peppers means it has open door scenes but they're more on the vanilla side.
3 Peppers means it has descriptive scenes, starting to get kinker in description.
4 Peppers means it has numerous scenes in the books and lots of description.
5 Peppers means that we aren't reading it for the plot anyways.
* Please note that I will not add my Spice Rating Scale on any book reviews that are meant for young children or middle grade ages. A Green Pepper or 1 Pepper may appear on books classified as Young Adult.

Light as a Feather (Haunted Hearts #3) 🖤

This paranormal dark romance gave me all the Morticia & Gomez vibes, and honestly? It felt like a love letter to anyone who finds beauty in the macabre, and paranormal.

Solaneen Gomez & Hawthorne Addams—childhood best friends turned lovers—completely stole my heart. Their journey was gothic, eerie, heartbreaking, and utterly beautiful. Sol tried to keep thorne safe from the dark spirit haunting her, but he wasn’t about to let anything keep them apart.

Couldn’t put this down, and now I’m crying because it’s over 😭🥺 The perfect finale to the Haunted Hearts series.

✔️ BIPOC/Latinx rep
✔️ Mental health rep
✔️ Plus-size & autism rep
✔️ Dark but HEA (in true Alexia Onyx style!)

If you love gothic romance with soul-deep love stories, this series is a must. 🖤

My favorite book of the series. 😭.

Alexia Onyx knows how to write paranormal dark romance so well. Sol is such a sweet soul and I wanted to hug her the entire book. I could deeply relate to her feeling like a burden-even when you’re told that you aren’t, it is something that is hard to shake. I love how we explored her autism and how she has navigated it her entire life-I thought the author handled it with a lot of care and understanding.

I have always loved how the author has written plus size characters. It has been so healing and given me a lot of confidence to embrace my own body. Thank you.

Hawthorne is this little baddie cinnamon roll who has carried so much on his shoulders, but will do absolutely anything for Sol. I loved his dedication, understanding, and gentleness.

This book is heavy like all of Onyx’s work, so please check your triggers.

I am so sad that this series is over, but I am thrilled to see what else we get!

Thank you to the author for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.

Hawthorne and Sol—omggggg swoooon. They’re the embodiment of “and if you go, I wanna go with you. And if you die, I wanna die with youuuu.” Pure. Dark. Haunting. This is the third book in the Haunted Hearts series, and while Come Out, Come Out will always have a special place in my heart, this one is definitely a very close second. It’s like a love letter to anyone who finds solace in the shadows, meaning in the macabre, and comfort in the paranormal. To say it fills my black little heart is an understatement. It’s gothic, it’s eerie, it’s everything—imagine Morticia and Gomez Addams vibes mixed with the perfect blend of spooky, spicy, and deeply emotional paranormal romance. Truly one of the best authors in this genre. As always, be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in—this series doesn’t shy away from heavy topics. Your mental health matters & comes first. 🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶️🌶️🌶️

“If wanting you is a death warrant, then sign it in my blood. I’ve died for you once. I’d gladly do it again.”

“If you ever try to leave me again, I’ll fuck you so hard, so deeply, so wholly, that you won’t be able to walk, let alone escape.”

First things first, I loved Hawthorne so much 😍 he gave me serious Gomez Addams vibes!! The lengths he will go through for Sol are endless. Also, the mouth on that man is 🌶️🔥This was a dark gothic paranormal romance. The plot had me sucked in immediately. It was as heartbreaking, eerie, and beautiful.

Sol and Hawthorne are childhood friends turned lovers. Their chemistry was insane, and their love was beautiful.

Sol is forced to leave Hawthorne to keep him safe after a vengeful spirit latches on to her. Hawthorne spends years tracking her, when he finally gets her back he will keep her at all costs.

The ending had me shook, but it was perfect. I loved that it wasn’t your typical HEA.

This gave paranormal, gothic vibes, mental health rep, plus FMC rep, and unconventional HEA.

This book was my favourite in the series. (Although it's hard to pick!)
The goth vibes were immaculate, the ASD representation in Solaneen was so relatable, Hawthorne's yearning was felt throughout the pages. It was beautiful. This man has a way with words 🖤 I may have swooned, no I definitely swooned over these two 🥰
The ending was, in true Alexia Onyx fashion: dark, but a HEA nonetheless.

I miss this book already. I may have to do a re-read as soon as the paperback is available.

PS: The spice was on point as well!

LOVED IT.

Wow this one was sure very different from few stories I have read. Sol and Hawthorne have gone through some stuff that it was not so easy for them. And that ending I’m not so sure if I’m satisfied with it. Sure they got their happy ending but still didn’t leave me satisfied. But they still got their happy ever after in their unique way.

“If you’re hard to love, then I say bring on the trials; let me taste a bit of suffering so that I can embrace fate even more sweetly, My Omen. Light the fire, and I’ll walk over it. Throw the glass, and I’ll crawl. Build the wall, and I’ll climb. I’ll do so with a smile on my face, because anything worth having is worth trying for. You are that anything, you are everything.” 😭🖤

Just felt a little longer than needed to be. The beginning really caught my attention but between knowing something needed to be done and reaching the climax, just dragged too much. The unconventional HEA was interesting, but was that decision really necessary? Probably not, but I guess it aligns with her character. I liked Thorne’s friend group and found them all very intriguing.

Hauntingly beautiful

I love to see how much Alexia has grown as an author. How tragically beautiful her worlds are, how interwoven with pain, sorrow, confusion and love her stories become. This story is full of that, love and passion. Not burning but simmering that type that gives you space and room to expand and simply let it all go.

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

I just finished Light as a Feather by the amazing Alexia Onyx and WOW… girl, you did it again!! 🥵

From page one I was hooked on Sol — her journey, her autism representation (which hit home for me personally 💜), and her love with Thorne. The way he SEES her? Pure magic. The suspense, the spice 🌶️, the twists… everything was perfection.

Alexia, you outdid yourself — this was a ride I didn’t want to end! 🙌

⚠️ Tropes & Possible Spoilers Below ⚠️

• PNR Dark Romance
• Morticia & Gomez coded
• Paranormal Investigator & Medium MMC x FMC with a ma|¡cious spirit attachment
• He’d do ANYTHING for her. Truly, anything.
• BIPOC/Latinx, Mental Health, Plus-Size & Autism Rep
• Dvbcøn | Imp@ct Play | C0¢kwarming | W^x play & sooo much more 😮‍💨

This book is absolutely incredible and unique. I have NEVER read anything like it. It’s gorgeously written, impactful, emotional, spicy, gothic, endearing…the list goes on and on. What it boils down to though, is that at least for me, this book is probably my favorite book of all time.

This book follows Solaneen Gomez and Hawthorne Addams, childhood best friends turned lovers who’ve been separated due to Sol’s hope of keeping Hawthorne safe from the ev¡| spirit who aims to keep her all to himself. Hawthorne is having NONE of that, and he will stop at nothing to ensure that she’s HIS in every way. So we have a st@|ker romance element, and more.

I can’t even explain to y’all just how much I love Thorne. I can’t explain how much I love Sol either, but I’m going to try. Hawthorne is the MMC of my dreams. He anticipates Sol’s needs, he thinks of her in every step he takes, he knows her better than he knows himself. He is the ultimate MMC to me. With Sol, we have our autism rep and it is beautiful. She is incredibly relatable to me, and her struggles echo my own. This makes her such an impactful character. Even if you do not personally have autism, I think many people can relate to being overstimulated in situations and struggling with particular things and she is a character that really st0le my heart.

The storyline is SO enthralling, and I’m not going to get too much into it because I think everyone needs to experience it for themselves. What I will say though is that for those who are familiar with Alexia, this is her “coziest” book yet, but in a way that still has Alexia’s signature morose prose and uniquely beautiful portrayal of mental health and general life struggles while maintaining her non-fungible plot lines. I think for those who may be new to Alexia, this book WILL resonate with you in some way. Contemporary readers, dark romance readers and paranormal romance readers alike would enjoy this.

I wish everyone in the world knew of this book, and I’m so proud of Alexia for writing this. Her best work yet, and I can’t wait to see where she goes from here.

4.5 ⭐️ ARC REVIEW 🖤
This book is going to haunt me in the best way possible with all of the love, devotion, obsession, power and healing that I felt radiating off of this book. Now, to start, I am a little sad because an important detail was revealed to me when I read the content warnings so I felt bad that I didn’t go in blind, BUT, do not be fooled. I was still hit with emotions that I did not anticipated, as well as held together when I was going through the hard hitting emotions that has not surfaced in ages.
The love that Thorne and Sol had for one another was one of the most powerful and beautifully poetic depiction that I had seen. Literally every time I was reading their declarations to one another or literally just thinking about one another, I would swoon and kick my feet because of how much I literally adore them. I loved how they would do anything for each other and would literally move Heaven and Hell to protect each other. Even both of them as individuals was such an amazing time, seeing how unique they were in their own personalities, seeing their own transformations back into the people that they were meant to be while also getting glimpses of how they were in the past when they first started their relationship! ALSO! Thorne as a veil walker and all of the aspects and spectrum of his abilities was so freaking cool tbh. Part of me is sad that I haven’t had a chance to read the first two books in the series (even though I own them all), because if this is how much Thorne and Sol loved each other, I could only imagine the love and care that the author poured into the other books. I will be reading those IMMEDIATELY now that I read this book, which was honestly such an honor to be given that opportunity.
The story itself was very heartbreaking and a little hard for me to read at times, because I could feel all of the pain and turmoil and guilt that was running through Sol’s head with the circumstances that she was a victim of. I saw a piece of myself in Sol and felt seen by her when she was talking about her fears and her worries and guilt, and all I wanted was for her to find her piece and her happy ending, for her to know that the hell she was suffering in was not the life that she deserved nor did she bring it upon herself. Despite this being a paranormal romance, I didn’t fully anticipate the weight or the uniqueness that her happily ever after would actually be, but it was so beautiful fitting nonetheless.
I did really love and appreciate all of the side characters that we got to me through this couple’s story! Even though a part of me wanted to know a little more about them, I appreciate how much they were willing to support and help Thorne and Sol in the most possible way that they could! Especially Jayden himself and his dynamic with Thorne. There are some other parts of the story that I wish we got a chance to explore, but at the end of the day, I wanted to read a beautiful love story between two souls that were not only meant for each other but a love story that fate built themselves just for them. It truly was a Morticia and Gomez coded love story, and it was everything that I could have wanted and more!

ARC REVIEW:

I haven't read any other reviews yet, so I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't find the characters likable. While reading, I did find Thorne pleasant because of the way he loves Sol; because of how he takes care of her, avoiding textures she doesn't like, maintaining routines for her, and because he remembers, despite the years apart, that she doesn't drink hot beverages, only cold ones, with half a spoonful of cinnamon in a glass, but not a transparent one.

But there is nothing else to highlight about him. As the story says, he is devoted to Sol to the utmost and lives only for her; he has no other goals, tastes, or personal development.

He meets the standard of romantic interest and sweet man, but he is not memorable to me.

With Sol, I didn't know how to feel throughout the entire book. On the one hand, I felt very sorry that she was easily manipulated by a dead person because she wanted someone to love her, but on the other hand, it's no big deal. We see her most vulnerable side (her memories of adolescence), but she is more sexually developed than anything else.

Sol is obese and autistic, which is mentioned more than once, and we see everything Thorne does to make her feel loved, desired, respected, and considered in every way, and yet her sexual hunger and her favourite activity—kneeling for him—stand out more.

I do like how she dresses, her taste for taxidermy and mausoleums, and that she respects the friendship between Thorne and her ex-boyfriend, Jayden, but it's still kind of... meh.

I didn't connect with the main characters at all, but I did enjoy several scenes, especially when Jayden was possessed. Overall, it's a light read and quick to get through.

This must be the third or fourth paranormal romance book I've read, and it's not bad, although I wouldn't read it again because it's not my favourite. Perhaps if I had read it when I was fourteen, I would have liked it a lot because of its Addams Family style.

There is another book by the author that interests me, "Come Out, Come Out" which belongs to the same paranormal romance series. Light as a Feather may not have completely won me over, but I want to read one more book by Alexia Onyx before giving a definitive yes or no.

DO I RECOMMEND IT?
I don't know.

If you like paranormal romance and want something quick to read, where you don't have to think too much, then yes. Personally, I don't think you're missing out on anything if you don't read it, but I also don't like to shut others out. If it catches your attention and you have doubts, try reading the free sample on Amazon to see if it convinces you.

Of course, all the warnings make it seem very dark, but it's milder than it appears. Even the sex scenes are within the realm of what most couples usually do; there's nothing particularly out of the ordinary about it.

Things I loved:
- Bisexual/Pansexual rep - M/F interracial couple
- Autistic & plus size FMC
- Morticia and Gomez / Eric and Shelly coded romance
- Possessive and protective love with forced proximity
- Unconventional HEA

WHAT AN END TO A SERIES!!!! This book is honestly like a love letter to all the romance readers who love their main characters diverse, their romance dark, paranormal and macabre themes, with loads of spice, amazing mental health representation and just phenomenal writing. This is for you.

I LOVED SOL! She was an incredibly complex character. She carried so much trauma with her, her mind riddled with darkness, pain, turmoil and guilt. She was a victim of circumstances. Her struggles throughout life and throughout the present within the book relating to her autism were really relatable and it was really refreshing to see that representation well done. She didn’t deserve all the suffering she went through in life and my heart truly broke for her at times, I just wanted her to find peace.
Which brings me to Hawthorne, gosh let me tell you, the amount of yearning you could feel through the pages. Hawthorne was obsessive, possessive and utterly devoted to Sol and getting her back home with him. You could feel the amount of pain and grief he went through in the time that they were separated and he was fighting to find her, not knowing if she was okay. I loved learning about his abilities and even more so in further detail his connection to the paranormal world. His declarations of love, not just verbally but physically in everything that he does were nothing short of poetic. I loved the way he continuously supported Sol and never made her feel like a burden, anticipated her needs and uplifted her as much as he could. Their souls recognised one another, and they knew, that they were home.

The storyline was absolutely amazing and kept you engaged and continuously on the edge of your seat wondering what was going to happen next. As the two reconnect you see that their connection had never wavered, it’s interesting as you learn about their history together and what happened for them to come to be as they are in the present. Also there’s a lot of smut. A lot of cum (also ghost cum repellent lol). The more you learn about Ivan (the evil sadistic spirit who has dictated and caused so much pain and suffering, that is desperately obsessed with Sol), the more you hate him and everything he is and what he has done to her. I loved that paranormal mystery unfolding, I loved getting to meet Hawthornes found family and team, I loved getting to see a peak of Stasi and Becca and I absolutely loved the extremely different and unconventional HEA.

Light As A Feather - ARC Review

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude for receiving an ARC, I've loved this series and it was an honor to review the final instalment despite how upset I am this series has come to an end.
Alexia has a beautiful and gothic writing style, something completely unique with her concepts. The Haunted Hearts series is beautifully written and this one is no different. And released just in time for Halloween I recommend this to all spook lovers.
As usual please check TW's before reading this one, especially due to Alexia's unconventional HEA's.

The plot of Light As A Feather follows Hawthorne who is easily the most devoted man ever as he tries to bring the love of his life, Sol, home and protect her from the attachment who ruins her life. I was so intrigued from the beginning, Desperate to know how they would fix this.
Sol is a perfectly complex character and a wonderful representation of autism, it is not often I find this kind of representation in writing and for that I truly appreciate her. Her struggles with Ivan hit home, and despite feeling bad for Thorne, it's easy to understand her choices come from a place of love and fear.
This book is gothic, mysterious and beautifully poetic. It is everything I love about Alexia's writing. This book has amazing characters, an incredible love story and a unique and exciting plot. And don't forget the delicious spice, I love the way the ghost elements are woven into the spice, it makes it unforgettable and unique.

However, while i was so excited to learn more about Hawthorne and his abilities after 'Warmer, Colder' (also loved the cameo) unfortunately i found myself struggling with understanding exactly what his ability was. I found myself craving more context and lore surrounding this particular fantasy element.
Furthermore, in the ending, it wasn't explained why everyone could still see Sol despite what we know from 'Come out, Come out' since this isn't usually the case for ghosts. The world building could have been more detailed and explained and left me wanting more, which is my only reason for not giving five stars.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed this story immensely which is why I'm giving it four stars.

If you love devoted men, brilliant characters and a truly unique plot, you need to put this on your shelf immediately. If you are a dark romance girlie and you haven't read Alexia Onyx, you are missing out.
This series holds a special place in my heart as I've been following Haunted Hearts since 'Come out, Come out' was released. I loved this book, and this series, all it's characters and its ghostly inspiration. I can't wait to see what comes next for this author.

thank you so much to Alexia Onyx for the gifted e-ARC of Light as a Feather.

I just have to say, this book arrived right when I needed it to... There is a little fox in the story that was very close to our FMC Solaneen and their story hit so close to home after losing my Luna and her being reunited with Curio helped put a little bandage on my heart. 🖤

This is why I love everything Alexia Onyx has written. They are love letters to the broken hearted and speak to the souls that tend to lean towards the darkness to remind us that sometimes beauty is hiding in that darkness.

Yet again, Alexia Onyx absolutely blows any and all of my expectations out of the water. Light as a Feather was every bit the gothic dream that was promised and so much more. I couldn't stop reading once I stopped because I absolutely needed to know what was happening next, my Kindle was glued to my hand lol.

The way Hawthorne lived for Solaneen, absolutely fucking lived to make her comfortable just made me melt. And the way Solaneen gave into Hawthorne, even when it seemed everything was against their Happiness together, just proved how no matter what nothing would keep these two apart, not even death or a possessive and controlling ghost attachment.

The story was deeply moving and provoking with just the right amount of horror elements thrown in to keep the creepy gothic vibes while also allowing the relationship between these two to shine through. And the ending... I cannot remember the last time an epilogue brought tears to my eyes.

Favorite Highlights:

"All I ever wanted was to be loved exactly as I am—amongst all the clinging shadows, beneath the looming fears, and in the reverence of every brutal imperfection."

“Come on now. You know that you’re my world, my dreams, my soul. My past, my present, my future. My Omen. There’s no title that could embody everything that you are to me.”

“Don’t keep it from me. I want to hear it. All your little sounds are like the pattering of rain after a heat wave, each of them washing a bit of the misery that still clings to me.”

"...What good is it to have a goddess amongst you if you don’t get to worship her properly?”

I've loved all the books in the Haunted Hearts Trilogy and I'm so sad for it to be over but I feel like this book really put a neat little bow on the series as a whole and is a great ending place, but I'm beyond excited to see just what Alexia has in store for us next!

Thank you to Alexia Onyx for the gifted eARC of this book! This is my honest review ✨

5/5 ⭐s!!

I honestly don't even know where to begin with how much I loved this book. I'd read the other Haunted Hearts novels earlier this year, so when I found out Light as a Feather was coming out, I losttttt it. And it did NOT disappoint!!

A PERFECT read for October, the book follows Hawthorne "Thorne" Addams (who honestly was giving adult Danny Phantom vibes) and Solaneen "Sol" Gomez, a pair of lovers that, at the start of the story, had been long separated because of a malevolent spirit that is attached to and OBSESSED with Sol (and has been since she was a teenager).

I adored the romance between Thorne and Sol (Gomez and Morticia vibes!!), and I loved how we got to see each of them support each other and grow better/stronger because of their partnership. Sol is both plus-sized and autistic (I can't remember if it's explicitly stated but it's pretty clear from context), and Thorne not only loves these things about her, he makes sure that their home and relationship isn't one that ever makes her feel bad about those things. Their first shower scene together made me MELT. Even in the most tragic moments, the love between them was so clear in their actions that I could FEEL it, even without it being explicitly said.

The spicy scenes were excellent and got me sweating more than once, they could not keep their hands off of each other! I can't blame them though, they had a lot of time to make up for. I'm not gonna say too much because I don't wanna spoil the fun, BUT consensual possession is very 🥴.

Just as a warning, this story (like the rest of the Haunted Hearts) features an unconventional HEA, by which I mean that least one of the main pair is dead by the ending (dead does NOT mean gone). For me, they were all incredibly enjoyable and I felt this was something unique that I hadn't seen much in romance before. This type of ending was something I was unsure of when I first started reading Onyx's works, but I've been fully satisfied with every ending, so I would NOT write it off if it's something you're nervous about. It is a dark romance though, so definitely read the triggers <3

Overall, if you like darker romances with Gothic vibes and characters that are absolutely crazy for/can't keep their hands off of each other, no matter what life throws their way, this is definitely one you should add to your list 💜🦇
