Devil on Skates by Evelyn Ferra is a steamy, quick college hockey romance with major tension and big feels. Xavier and Irina are drawn to one another like magnets—against parental restrictions, social expectations, and their own fears. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the “cat and mouse” game between them is juicy.
What works: the passion is vivid, the characters feel real enough, and the emotional stakes hit hard—especially toward the end when things spiral and they lose control a bit.
What holds it back: the plot is thin and a little predictable; some of the drama feels like it leans on tropes (coach’s daughter, bully, off-limits) without fresh twists. Also, since it’s a fast read, there isn’t always time for deeper development of every character.
Overall verdict: If you want heat, angst, and a whirlwind romance, this delivers. Just don’t expect it to break new ground. Nice ride.

Xavier and Irina share an undeniable connection, but both are under the thumb of their parents. They draw out a wild and crazy side in each other. The chemistry and passion between them is intense and steaming hot. I loved their game of cat and mouse, especially how Irina truly wanted to be caught. The last few chapters were an emotional roller coaster that truly showed how little control they had. This is an emotional, quick whirlwind of two people drawn together like magnets, but forced apart by others.

I highly recommend this book. What a wonderful.job Evelyn Ferras. I love hockey as our son played for years as a goalie. Loved the book.
