If readers are looking for a story with a decent plot, they might want to check out other options because they won't find it here. Tbh, there wasn't much happening in this story except for Turner's (27) and Poppy's (26) horny thoughts and them actually getting it on. 😅

This was very much insta-lust through and through. What they had was pretty surface-level, so I was confused how they ended up falling in love. 🤔 But then, this is their love story, so… I guess I’ll just have to go along with it.

I’ve got to hand it to the author; this was still entertaining, even though the characters' relationship didn't have much depth. I really enjoyed the humor and playful banter, making it a light read that didn't need too much brain cells. 😂

But this also has one of my disliked tropes, which is mis-freaking-communication. This was going so well, and I was actually having a good time. Then boom, three weeks' separation because Poppy was too much of a chicken to have a conversation, so she ended up moving out of the apartment and basically ghosting Turner. Then he saw her on a dating app and initiated a conversation, and then they went on a date. After that, another week passed without any word again.

These two really need to work on their communication because, gawd, the last 20% of the story dampens my entertainment. It's actually weird because they could communicate just fine on the dating app, but when they're face-to-face, it's like they turn into entirely different people who couldn't find a decent conversation starter.

Then we have the rushed ending and setup for the next book. And I was like, "What? That's it?" They barely resolved their issues. I'm going to bet that these two would never last in real life.

Also, this could be a me thing. But the women in this series can mess up pretty awfully, yet no decent groveling/apologies were given to the men. And yes, I want them to grovel, because hello, accountability matters. If one of the MCs messed up, they should make up for it regardless if they're a man or a woman.

The guys in this series are so quick to take the women back, and I feel like they should hold out a bit longer. Let these women apologize properly for ruining the good thing they had going.

Anyway, overall, I did enjoy it, albeit the superficial plot and characters. I just wished the last 20% had gone down differently. I'm tired of breakups that could’ve been avoided if these people had just communicated with one another. Also, I'm fed up with the couples' abrupt endings or HFN situations. Why can't we get a glimpse into their lives years later? Is that too much to ask? 🥹

Book info:
— Roommates to lovers
— Forced proximity
— Insta-lust
— Miscommunication
— Funny banter
— Hot chemistry!
— No cheating, OM/OW
— Separation (1 month)
— Pregnancy scare (but they realized they both wanted it)
— No V (no info on their past, but I got the impression that both of them are relationship type of people)
— HFN (2 mos later, living together)

How is Sara Ney so funny? I did ask her on IG. The scenarios, one liners, the situations she sets up!

Poppy is new in town, and her best friend has found her a place to live. In a house her boyfriend owns, currently lived in by Skaggs, a hockey player on his team, and Cash a snowboarder.

Skaggs, or Turner, is a sweetheart. Their first meeting, though? Put everything out there. So funny.

Turner is close to his sisters (such a plus) and the relationship he has with his younger sister and the way she talks about and to him? He has the patience of Job.

The chemistry between them is fire and I immediately wanted NO hurdles between the two of them. Turner, besides being sweet, loves to build with Legos. Come on, is that not adorable?

Poppy is a little leary about starting something serious. Its always hard to start something new, especially when it's someone so close.

We also get to see Turners relationships with the guys on his team. The ones who know everything and give Turner such sage advice.

And that second roommate? Ill keep the dog, not the man.

I'm definitely going to need some more of these guys!

This book was such a fun escape and a total quick read! It really brought the laughs and swoons, and Turner (with all his golden-retriever vibes) completely stole the show for me. The banter and chemistry between him and Poppy had me grinning, it was that perfect mix of flirty, sweet, and so much tension.

That said, the miscommunication / non-communication nearly did me in. I just wanted to shake them both and yell “use your words!” 😂 But honestly, it kept me invested because I needed to see how they’d work through it.

What I really loved, though, was the twist toward the end. Instead of going down the same predictable road so many rom-coms do, this one took it in a slightly different direction, and it made the story feel fresh and unique.

Overall, this one was the perfect mix of funny, swoony, and heartfelt. If you’re in the mood for a light, fast-paced romance with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and some molten slow-burn tension, you’ll definitely want to pick this one up!

This series is steadily becoming one of my favorites!

Poppy and Turner are hilarious and perfection. This story had one of the best starts and I giggled constantly at their antics but also OMG quiet Turner is ….a caveman in the room.

I have to say at times I struggled with their lack of communication but when I sat with who they are it made sense and fit them.

Such a steamy, fun and absolutely perfect read!

Thank you to The Author Agency for my ARC of Don’t go Breaking my Heart, Book Three in the Houston Baddies series by Sara Ney!

So, I really enjoyed about 75% of this book. The banter was awesome, it was super funny in parts, the spice was hot… but then the MCs just got in their own way and I was just frustrated for the remainder of the book. When my brain can’t make sense of why a problem with an obviously simple solution doesn’t get resolved (or even worse continues to escalate), you’ve lost me, which is exactly what happened in this book. It also didn’t help that Poppy quickly became one of my least favourite FMCs once the miscommunication started.

Things I need to clarify: I have not read the first two books in this series, so I can’t comment on if this book is similar to the others in the Houston Baddies series. Also, I am a reader who struggled with miscommunication at the best of times so that automatically makes me less inclined to enjoy a book that relies on it for tension.

Don’t Go Breaking My Heart is available now!

Book 3 of the Houston Baddies Series officially read and loved every second of it, I have been craving this book from when it was first teased at the end of the last book!!

I loved Poppy's character so much, she is just a bit of me to be honest, her personality is perfection. The book follows Poppy who moves to a new state to further pursue her career after getting a new exciting opportunity, only where is she going to live? It just so happens that there is a spare room going from when the previous book's two main characters moved out of that house, only Poppy will inherit two gorgeous new roommates, only one is bearable though to say the least.

Turner, oh Turner, that man is so misunderstood, he is such a sweetie and so nerdy at the same time, I absolutely love him!! I loved the first scene between Poppy and Turner in the kitchen and Poppy is certainly not decent when Turner walks into the house, a way to meet your new roommate for sure.

Forced Proximity played its part in this book so damn well! The tension it created between them was almost too unbearable for me. Sara certainly has a way with words and she made every scene between the two that much sweeter. Every scene in this book was perfect and had me craving for more, I devoured the book in simple terms, nothing would make me put it down once I got into the flow of it!

I can't wait to continue with this series and see more of Poppy and Turner, their love story was perfect in my eyes but I just wish I had more of them!!

POV: Dual
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

This was a light and fun read and Turner is probably my favorite of the MMCs from this hockey team. He’s a quiet, shy, and a little awkward, and I love that Poppy brings him out of his shell a little (but not too much)!

While these two definitely have some communication issues in the end, they are super cute together. Their roommate situation doesn’t keep them apart for too long but the chemistry is there from the very first funny meet cute.

This book has all of Sara’s typical humor, but I would say it has more spice and maybe a little less hockey than the other

OMG!! Don’t Go Breaking My Heart is a hockey/ roommates romance with a lot of spice. This is Turner and Poppy’s story that is filled with unexpected feelings and hilarious moments. I loved their connection from the beginning! Turner is a big golden retriever with a little nerdy on the side, and Poppy is confident and independent. I loved their chemistry and how they bring each other out of their comfort zone. But also, they are caring and stubborn when it comes to each other. I loved their story and can’t wait to read more!!

I voluntarily leave an honest review of this gifted advance reader copy.

Don’t Go Breaking My Heart is book 3 in the Houston Baddies series. It is a romantic and hilarious rom-com filled with great banter, slow burn, spicy moments and a great and an independent FMC and golden retriever MMC.
When they unexpectedly become roommates, hilarity ensues with funny encounters, electric attraction and witty fun that you expect from Sara Ney.
Turner is a hockey god, who will have you swooning with his caring side and sweet ways. Poppy is independent, hurt from previous relationships and scared to get hurt again. From their late night talks, to watching movies, their connection is intense to everyone but them or that they can admit to each other.
This book is a must read for fans of steamy romantic comedies filled witty banter, quirky charm and a great emotional connection. It hits with just the right spice, swoon and funny moments!

4.5 stars. The tension in this book burned for dayssssss. Turner and Poppy are new roommates that have one of the best meet cutes I have ever read. Turner is that golden retriever hockey player that you just want to cuddle and Poppy is just someone I want to be friends with. This book brought the spice and I was HERE for it. The tension between the two of them was on point and it gave me all the butterflies.
Sara's humor really shined through with this one, which I loved because it has been really hard recently and reading this book gave me a much needed escape. The communication between the two of them was a little frustrating to me, but at no point was I ever worried that they wouldn't figure it out. Especially when Turner was in so deep. Gah, it was adorable.

Mostly good. Communication issues were the conflict.

I liked a lot about this book. The characters where likeable, good writing. Would have been a solid 4 rating, but the conflict and resolution would have been non existent if the main characters talked. There was a lot of immaturity going on with communication that I don't see how the proceed as a couple.

Bianca's new roommate is messing with her head. Oh, not intentionally, but Turner is so sweet, and so damn sexy, that she's having a very hard time restraining herself from doing something she should not do - fall into bed and into love with him. But his sister had it right when she said Poppy's a runner, will she run this time too, when things get too serious and the chance for being hurt becomes a very huge possibility?

Turner is the sweetest, hottest golden retriever I've read, ever! He's the perfect match for funny, sassy Poppy, who shielded her heart but really didn't stand a chance in the face of all his sweet, adorableness (and that hockey body!). There were truly funny moments and snarky banter, spicy af steamy moments, all interspersed with emotional moments that had my heart hurting for both of them. But in the end, I was smiling, and swooning, as they finally admitted how they really felt, and allowed themselves to be happy and in love. The Houston Baddies are dropping like flies, can't wait for Turner's teammate to fall for his sister Georgia, next.

Star: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sara Ney’s Don't Go Breaking My Heart is a chaotic, hilarious, and irresistibly swoony romantic comedy that kicks off the Houston Baddies series with a bang. The story follows a smart, independent woman (Poppy) who relocates to a new city for a fresh start and ends up renting a room in a suburban palace - complete with a wine fridge, a pool, and a stove that probably costs more than her car. It sounds perfect until she meets her new roommate: Turner “Skaggs” Hutton III, a hockey player with Viking looks and golden retriever energy. From the moment he accidentally sees her nearly naked, their dynamic is a rollercoaster of awkward encounters, sizzling chemistry, and laugh-out-loud disasters.

Turner is the kind of hero who’s both rugged and goofy, with a heart of gold and a body built for trouble. He’s sworn off distractions to focus on his career, and she’s determined to build hers without getting sidetracked by a man - especially not one who’s off-limits and lives across the hall. But the tension between them is undeniable. Whether it’s a cramped car ride with his hand on her thigh or watching him build LEGO sets with surprising sex appeal, the slow burn between them is intense and wildly entertaining.

Sara Ney’s writing shines with witty dialogue, quirky moments, and a deep understanding of how attraction can be both inconvenient and irresistible. The story balances humor and heart beautifully, with just enough emotional depth to make the romance feel earned. And when a missed cycle leads to a pharmacy run, the stakes get higher, the feelings get messier, and the story takes a turn that’s both surprising and satisfying.

This book is perfect for readers who love roommate romances, slow burns with explosive chemistry, and heroines who know what they want but can’t help falling for the one person they shouldn’t. It’s sexy, funny, and full of moments that will make you laugh, swoon, and maybe even blush. If you’re looking for a rom-com that’s equal parts chaos and charm, Don't Go Breaking My Heart is a must-read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Sara Ney always delivers romance, humor, tension, and a dash of drama in the best way possible. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, book 3 in her Houston Baddies series, follows this pattern beautifully. This series has been so fun to read, thus far, and I loved this addition. It is evident that Sara takes her character’s seriously and lets them lead the story as much as she writes it. There are always friendships with tight bonds, found family that do anything for each other, and the romance is heated and blush worthy.

Poppy and Turner have immediate chemistry and I was immediately hooked on them being the focus of this story. I didn’t want anything to be hard for them, just happiness. When Poppy needs a place to live, she finds a roof and two new roommates, one being Turner. She can’t deny the attraction she feels towards him, but just moving to town she isn’t in a rush to jump into a new relationship as well. But the heart wants what the heart wants.

Turner is a sweet, nerdy, misunderstood man; and someone that is impossible to not love. The “meet cute” between him and Poppy was a definite laugh out loud moment, but what a way to meet your new roommate. After that each interaction between him and Poppy is tension filled as only Sara can write. I loved everything about these two and them growing closer and closer together. And don’t get me started with Turner and his relationship with his teammates! These men are amazing and truly are a family.

Everything about this book is amazing. The character development, witty dialogue, and irresistible chemistry made this book easy to read and devour. I loved the way Sara wrote every character in this book, giving them quirks, hello sexy lego lover, and emotional depth that makes every heated glance filled with yearning. Read this book, read this series, and read everything by Sara Ney.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

What to Expect:
🏒Hockey Romance
💜Friends to Lovers
🏒Unavoidable Proximity
💜Roommates to More
🏒Off Limits Romance
💜Golden Retriever MMC

When I first received my copy of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, the third book in the wonderful Houston Baddies series, I planned to just read a chapter or so, but when I next looked up I was already a third of the way through. Author Sara Ney’s Houston Baddies are so much fun, and Turner (Skaggs) and Poppy are another hilarious couple to put alongside Gio and Austin and Nova and Luca.

Poppy is Nova’s very good friend, new job in Texas, new start, needs a place to live right now. Nova has the perfect solution. Pre-Austin days, Nova’s brother Gio used to live in his McMansion with roommates Turner and Cash. A hockey player and a pro-snowboarder. Athletes. You know how those guys are – and how they usually look, too. But they’ll be on the road a lot and Nova insists they’re decent guys, and with Gio not living there there’s a spare bedroom available. How bad can it be, Poppy only plans to live there until she gets settled on the job and finds her own place. “How bad can it be” turns out to be relative. Cash isn’t there when Poppy moves in, but Skaggs is, and man oh man is that guy hot. And through a little mix-up about who is expected to be home when, he walks in on Poppy cooking in the kitchen – very, very comfortably dressed. Or almost not-dressed.

That’s Hilarious Circumstance #1 and it just gets better from there. I stopped counting at about Hilarious Circumstance #50. Nobody is looking for a relationship or a fling or too-casual-with-roommates or anything, but things don’t always work out as we’ve planned. Instant heat with Turner. When Poppy finally meets Cash, instant not-heat. I mean really, if the guy gives off those surfer-dude vibes and probably thinks “emotional intelligence” is a brand of deodorant, how serious can you get with him. But Turner, that’s another story entirely. And it’s a story you are going to love.

Author Ney is the master at delightful peeks into her character’s innermost thoughts and text exchanges that will have you rolling on the floor laughing. What they think, what they feel, the bloopers they say out loud – they’ll have you in tears. But then you might also shed a few tears because try as they might to avoid it, there is something going on there besides that attraction they are not too successfully resisting.

Everybody they know gets involved, everybody has advice, and everybody is nosy, and everybody interferes: Gio, Nova, Turner’s sister Georgia. There’s jealousy and misunderstanding and hurt and some snap decisions. Every emotion, characters that you’ll love (Turner is sooooo sweet) and lots of spicy stuff. I loved every minute of this story.

I received an advance copy of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. Recommend without hesitation, can’t wait to see who’s up next. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

I loved this story.
Now Sara Ney is kind of new to me I think I may have read one of her books many many years ago,and I am wondering to myself why I never read more of her books.
So this book felt like a fresh start for me and I really enjoyed reading it,I completely became invested in Poppy and Turner's friends to lovers/roommates romance.
The chemistry and sexual tension between them is fabulous !!
Poppy got herself a new job so had to move to Houston and now she needed a place to live.
Luckily for her best friend Nova offers Poppy her fiance's old place to stay as he was now living with her.
Poppy didn't realise that the house came with 2 new roommates as well...Two male roommates who happen to be incredibly gorgeous.
Turner catches her attention especially when he is standing in the kitchen half naked..They seem to keep catching eachother in compromising situations.
Eventually they agree to a friends with benefits thing which both of them don't know how to manage, what they do know is they are attracted to one another.
Turner is adorable and swoony and I just fell in love with him,he is irrisistable..Poppy is the kinda woman who is best friend material and very independent.
Together they are messy, fun, awkward, hectic and fire in the bedroom.
Don't Go Breaking My Heart is a wonderful read both humourous, cute and warms the heart..It is a book that makes you laugh and feel good while reading all the things Poppy and Turner get into.
I loved Sara Ney's comedic humour and her writing was perfect for it.
I was enchanted by this slow burn pleasurable story.
Brilliant.

5 Swoony Stars!!!

This is the third book in the Houston Hotties series and I loved every single minute of it! From their more than awkward first meeting to the last swoony moment, Turner and Poppy had my heart.

Poppy is new in town, and thanks to her bestie Nova, she has a place to stay by being roommates with Turner, a hot as sin hockey player and Cash a pro-snowboarder. It all starts off quite comically when Turner comes home unexpectedly and finds Poppy in the kitchen not anticipating any company. I swear I let out the biggest laugh with their reactions to each other. And so begins a relationship that’s filled with witty banter, vulnerability, a slow burn that’s worth the wait and a friendship that neither of them knew they needed.

One of the things I loved so much about this story is how the chemistry between Poppy and Turner built up as the story moves along. There’s so much more to Turner than meets the eye. He really is one of the “good guys” and he’s quite mushy on the inside. I was swooning all over the place! With Poppy’s most recent heartache I wasn’t sure she’d be open to exploring her attraction to Turner. Thankfully she did and their romance is everything I love about Ms. Ney’s books. She’s written a book that flows so flawlessly from beginning to end. I loved the characters and I could picture them and each scene so clearly in my head. The witty banter in this book had me chuckling out loud and it’s perfectly balance with emotional moments that showed who Turner and Poppy really are on the inside.

This is a not to be missed book if you love laughing, swooning and everything in between!

✨ This story follows Tucker “Skaggs” and Poppy—and from the moment she moves into a spare bedroom in the mansion he shares with one other roommate, sparks start to fly. Their first encounter? He accidentally catches her naked…and let’s just say, she doesn’t exactly mind.

😂 What follows is a slow burn romance filled with laugh-out-loud moments that had me giggling, smiling, and even kicking my feet. Tucker isn’t your typical professional hockey player—he’s quiet, a little shy, and has a surprising love for building complex LEGO sets. It made him all the more endearing.

🔥 The chemistry between Tucker and Poppy was undeniable, their connection instant, but both were far too stubborn to admit their feelings. There were so many moments I wanted to reach into the book and shake them! That push-and-pull tension made their eventual bond even more satisfying.

These Houston Baddies are actually a bunch of softies and I can't say that I hate it.

Don't Go Breaking My Heart is the third book in the Houston Baddies Hockey series by Sara Ney and yet again Sara is blending the fun lightness that I love from rom-coms with some awkward sweetness and delicious heat. This book is a stand alone in an interconnected series, so while yes, Poppy and Turner can be enjoyed on their own- I definitely recommend reading the series in order.

I absolutely loved the little bits of Poppy that popped up in Can't Always Get What You Want- book 2 of the Baddies, so when Sara gave us that little tease that Poppy was going to be next I couldn't wait to dive into her outrageous and chaotic personality a little more. And who better to pair her with than Turner Hutton aka Skaggs- the reserved and almost shy pro-hockey player that is essentially Poppy's polar opposite.

These two are freaking adorable and perfect for each other. I adore unfiltered Poppy- she's a hot mess and she owns that even if it comes with a heaping of embarrassment on her end. She isn't one for relationships- between her constant moving and self doubt over being too much for her partners, Poppy tends to stick with more unattached hook-up style encounters. Then there's Turner- the most gentlemanly and kind of bumbly hockey player that isn't a hook-up kind of guy, not only doesn't find Poppy to be too much but is actually more drawn because her over the topness imprinted on him.

What starts as an incredibly awkward, yet hilarious, first meeting grows into this palpable attraction and intense friendship. I love how just at ease Turner and Poppy are with each other- even when things are tense between them, they are drawn to the comfort that they provide each other. And when things take a sexy spin? Well I love them together even more.

There are some moments of frustration for me when these two characters go all in on their inability to communicate with each other out of fear but overall I really just had a smile on my face the whole time I read this book.

“Turner Hutton is everything I did not think was possible.”

Don’t Go Breaking My Heart was an absolute delight—adorable, chaotic, and irresistibly fun. The sizzling push-pull dynamic between Turner and Poppy had me hooked from page one. Their awkward silences, flirty banter, and undeniable chemistry created a slow-burn tension that was equal parts hilarious and heart-melting.

When Poppy relocates to Houston, she’s in need of a place to crash. Her best friend Nova offers up her fiancé’s house—since he’s already moved in with her—which sounds perfect... until Poppy realizes she’ll be living with two ridiculously attractive male roommates. One of them? Turner. The human embodiment of temptation. As their friendship deepens and the sparks fly, they stumble into a messy, magnetic friends-with-benefits situation neither of them knows how to navigate.

I adored both Turner and Poppy. They were charming, relatable, and so emotionally tangled I wanted to scream. Their fear of saying how they really felt made me want to shake them—and then hug them. Watching them fumble through feelings and flirtation was pure joy, and I devoured the entire book in one sitting. It’s the kind of rom-com that leaves you grinning, swooning, and maybe yelling at the pages a little. In the best way.

Sara Ney writes the best sports romantic comedies and I stand by that, her books have been making me laugh for over 5 years now, and I don’t think they’ll ever stop. Her humor and writing style just meshes so well with my reading preferences and i will read any book she puts out! Poppy moves into a shared house with two pro sports players, and from day one she has instant connection with Turner, and feels nothing for Cash which I found hilarious, but I also want to get a Cash book at some point cause I love when the huge player falls fast and hard. But back to Poppy and Turner, Turner is the sweetest soul, he prefers relationships, emotional connections to physical connections and just wants to build his Legos when he is stressed, which living with Poppy makes him stressed all the time.

They have the sweetest friendship to begin as they fight off their chemistry and feelings, and they spend time learning about each other, hanging out, just laughing and having fun, and when it becomes more. Then, wow Turner shocked me so hard, when he whipped out his bedroom personality and man I was here for it. I don’t tend to love a ton of spicy scenes but seeing Turner flip between his nice, gentleman side, and then his spicy dirty side, I loved every moment he flipped back and forth, and I loved this book so much!

You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.

This is a sweet and spicy hockey romance with plenty of witty banter between the couple. Poppy moves for a new job and her best friend arranges for her to share a house with two pro hockey players. Poppy and Turner are instantly attracted to one another, but they fight their feelings, until they don’t.

This couple is so cute. I loved their witty banter and their yearning for each other was sweet. As a fellow nerd, I was all about Turner and his legos! Nothing sexier than a hot man not afraid to let his nerd flag fly! His golden retriever personality and respect for women also makes him hella sexy. And just when you think he can’t get any better, his switch to sexy-time Turner was hot, hot, hot.

Poppy is strong, independent and knows what she wants. She wants a serious relationship but has some emotional issues from the past that she’s honest about. I loved Poppy’s relationship with her best friend and some of their conversations cracked me up. You can tell they’ve been friends for a long time. They support each other, but also call each other out on their BS.

This book has a lot of fun tropes and is a quick and easy read. You should definitely check it out.

I received a complimentary e-copy of this book from The Author Agency. All opinions are my own.

Dont Go Breaking My Heart is book 3 in the Houston Baddies series and follows Baddie Turner and Houston transplant Poppy, who also happens to be Nova's best friend.

Poppy has just relocated to Houston to start a new job. She needs a place to stay until she can find something more permanent, so Nova arranges for her to rent a room at Luca's home that currently has two guys living there.

Turner is a player for the Houston Baddies professional hockey team. He rents a room from teammate Luca, along with another professional athlete. Both men travel a lot for their jobs. Turner is a quiet guy. He is not into partying or going out. He is a simple person.

Poppy and Turner's first encounter is a hoot. She is not expecting him and he is not expecting her and all bets are off on the impressions that are made.

Their second encounter is no less comical. Again, he is not expecting her to just barge in to his room. Poppy is not used to having a roommate, so when she simply says knock knock and enters his room, she is in for a surprise.

Now both of them are embarrassed and tongue tied around each other.

When Cash, the other roommate, arrives home, he figures things out pretty quickly. But he is a bit crass. Both Turner and Poppy are already tired of him.

These two are like a firecracker just waiting to go off. When it finally happens it will be an explosion of volcanic proportion.

This book was so fun! It's a swoony and spicy forced proximity roommates romance, and I loved the chemistry between independent Poppy and golden retriever, Lego-building Tanner. Don't Go Breaking My Heart is a connected standalone within the Houston Baddies Hockey series; Poppy is besties with Nova, and Turner plays hockey with Luca.

Poppy recently relocated for work, so Nova sets her up in the empty bedroom at Luca's house now that they are living together. Poppy and Tanner's first meeting is not what either one of them expects (underwear, breakfast, and an early arrival back home are involved) and the attraction between them is immediate. But Poppy has been hurt in the past, and she's hesitant to give in to the attraction she feels for Tanner. Things progress when they connect on a dating app, and once they take off, it is fire between them.

I absolutely loved everything about these two... except for the miscommunication trope. Their situationship was so easy, and they clicked together right away, but when things got a little too close for comfort, Poppy freaked out and it just led to a breakdown in communication between them. I thought they had it together better than that.

Overall, this book is a delightful, low-angst, swoony roommates story that will sweep you off your feet. I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily left a review.

I'm back again and this time with the third book in the Houston Baddies series.

I had such a great time reading both Hit Me With Your Best Shot back in March and Can't Always Get What You Want in June this year and I just couldn't resist instantly picking up this next book in this brilliant series.

Once again, this book could well be read without having read the previous 2 - but heck, why wouldn't you want to read them all, especially when we do see some returning characters and links within the books.

In this story, we meet Poppy - best friends with Nova (from book 2) - who has moved to town for a new job, but desperately needs a place to stay.

The perfect solution appears in the form of Skraggs - Luca's teammate and adorable hunk of a man - who happens to have a spare room going begging.

Well, the chemistry is off the charts from the second we spot these two together and I honestly couldn't get enough of them. The banter and sass going back and forth had me smiling the whole way through this book!

I absolutely love the writing style which has everything you need from a great romcom.

The characters jump off the page and right into your heart and you just can't help rooting for them throughout.

The tension was just right and the spice when they snapped - just perfection.

I'm obsessed with this series and can't wait for my next fix!

4.5 STARS
Poppy and Hunter’s “meet cute” which is a meet “s3xy/awkward”, really sets the tone for the book.
They have instant chemistry that is scorching hot. They banter and use word play to drive each other wild. It is so much s3xy, sensual fun!
I love that they like each other legitimately as well. They appreciate each other’s wit, intelligence and kindness. Good people and they’re hot?!? It’s romance and I love it!
If you want a super s3xy, incredibly fun read that isn’t just s3x, this is the book! I was smiling, laughing and getting hot sometimes all at the same time. This couple is entertainment that they bring out of each other.
I adore that they both are super hot and have “nerdy” vibes that speak to each other and me as the reader.
The dirty talk is top tier. I love how open they are with each other.
“The guys” see Turner as a straitlaced bore, they don’t understand he’s about long term and respect. What an attractive combination.
Poppy is fun and flirty but she wants something serious, unfortunately she has some emotional issues with it, though. And, she doesn’t tease, she’s upfront about it. I respect that.
Together they are lightening in a bottle!
This book is pure happiness, s3xy taunts and games, and fantastic people.
My only tiny issue-I do wish the secondary characters played a bigger part. This is book #3, so I wanted that friendship and camaraderie vibe, I know and love those characters. But, even without a lot of that, this is a feel good, fun and spicy story. The characters are incredibly lovable. I can’t wait for the next book!
