A failing ward, a missing witch, and revelations that'll shake Ravens Hollow to the core.
When Floyd, the bridge-guarding witch, disappears, it’s more than your average missing person’s case. Without him, the illusion spell that keeps our world hidden won’t last long… exposing us and our secrets to the world.
I’m Elodie Evergreen, vampire journalist, and I just can’t seem to catch a break. From glamoured elves to my relationship with our siren Police Chief, life has never been more complicated. I’m just hoping that finding Floyd is more straightforward than everything else on this island.
Unfortunately, suspects are everywhere, although my instincts keep pointing to Arabella Willowwood, the enigmatic witch from across the pond.
And on top of that, Chloe and Dylan are braving a date, Pongo keeps sniffing out trouble, and new revelations are clawing at my past. I’m under more pressure than a werewolf at a full-moon party.
Find Floyd. Fix the ward. Don’t fall apart. Easy… right?
I am an author of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Fiction. I'm passionate about my family, reading, writing and cats. The order of which can change on a day to day basis.
This book was another great, fun read in this series. The plot was a fun one, the characters are great and the story writing and world building are fabulous!
When Floyd, the guardian of the bridge that conceals Ravens Hollow from the rest of the world, disappears, everyone is on the hunt to find out what happened to him and how they can get him back. Elodie, as an investigative journalist, is hot on the trail, trying to follow every lead possible in order to solve this mystery, even if it means stepping on some toes to do so. This plot was hilarious once we found out what had happened!
Elodie also has a lot of personal issues going on this time round, particularly between her and Whip. I'm still not sure if he is the best one for her, especially now he has revealed what he was up to! Will she ever be able to trust him again? Maybe Alex could be the better choice? I guess only Elodie can decide that one!
I'm looking forward to seeing how Elodie and Amira's relationship develops as well. It's not something that Elodie can forgive so easily, but I think it is possible.
I received an ARC copy of this book through BookSprout, but this review is my own honest one. Thank you to Ella for another great read - this series is such a fun, light read, but with a great main character trying to find her foot in the paranormal world

Clues & Copy is the 4th book in the Raven Hollow Investigations Series by Ella Stone.
My oh my, I have to say that with each and every book this series just keeps getting better and better. I love Elodie and Pongo, is such a fun sidekick, and I’m definitely in love with Whip! Ella has crafted such a stunning, engaging and immersive read that I have to say once you start read, you find you can’t stop reading no matter how hard you try.
From the very beginning you find that there’s anguish and heartache and you end up seeing Elodie’s world totally shattered. Although we find that this time, it’s lies that have been concealed into information that we see is threatening to dislodge Elodie’s heart completely, and she’s left questioning everything she knows and feels. Elodie finds that her mother is actually alive and before she has a chance to even start processing who her mother was, she gets hit with yet another shock, and this bombshell, this one has the potential to completely unravel everything Elodie knows and believes.
And now, not only is Elodie’s new relationship in massive trouble, the very person who’s responsible for the ward that protects the Raven’s Hollow and the rest of the supernatural world out of sight of the humans has suddenly disappeared, and Elodie also has to deal with and think about the whole “Alex” thing! So yeah, there’s a whole lot going on in this book. And I’ll admit that I love the way that Ella manages in her own special way to muck it all up. Ella has this way of throwing herself into the mixer and in the end ends up giving you this delicious smoothy. And her narration, it is so convincing that you feel the blow just as much Elodie does and you can understand why she has trust issues.
Elodie’s growth and development from this mundane human investigative journalist to vampire investigative journalist the operative word being journalist. Sadly, an investigative journalist can’t be held down or held back by much of anything, and her heartbreak aside, Elodie has this dire need to discover, uncover, comes straight to the forefront.
One of the things that I really love about Elodie is how truly fallible she is, she has this ability to add 2 and 2 and come up with 10. (Don’t ask me how she does that.) And she does have a few embarrassing accidents… and yet Elodie refuses to give up, Elodie will do whatever she can to unravel any and all mysteries around her. And at the moment, the mystery of the heart is proving to be the most challenging for her, and personally, after everything I’ve learned, I really can’t say that I blame her for that. I found myself often times just as upset and distraught as she was, I wanted to ugly cry that HE did that and that HE lied. I refuse to tell you who HE is, I want you to read this book and this series and find out for yourself, but trust me, when you find out, I can promise you’ll be as horrified as I am.
Now, back to the whole ‘Alex thing’… I found myself very conflicted about him and I found he evoked all these feelings in me. Warmth, tenderness, and at the same time he made me want to cry at the same time. He’s this sweet, nice, supportive guy to Elodie, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s head over heels in love with her. The problem is, and this truly makes it an emotional complication, Elodie’s heart lies with someone else. Or at least that’s the impression I get.
I would love to see Elodie get with Alex but at the same time I love Whip too. So, yeah, I totally understand her inner turmoil. Sympathy, an emotional tug of war, become this mine for Elodie and this is perfectly crafted by Ella and the anguish you feel is real. The only offset is by the diverse group of characters from the paper that Elodie works for, it’s this entire family vibe that I found to be so very beautiful.
Bobby is always there for everyone and he never push’s anyone and I found him to be the perfect father figure not only for Elodie but for everyone.
Chloe is this perfect little bubble of positivity you can’t help but fall in love with. And I really love she found her perfect match in Dylan and they are taking the everlasting plunge. She is just so sweet.
Then there’s Whip. He’s this walking, talking, contradiction. One the one side he’s this gentle, respectful, and loving guy who you want to see Elodie end up with. But, on the other hand you know he’s hiding so much and he’s so locked down he might as well be the Federal Reserve. He has this past that he keeps shrouded, concealed, and he only allows little bits and pieces to come to light. But, through it all you can tell that he is clearly enamored with Elodie.
I loved how all the primary and secondary characters is so unique. And I love the way Ella even gave us this know-it-all ghost, and this stunning doggie called Pongo, and Pongo is this very special doggo who can even ‘speak’. We met a new character, Arabella, and I really liked her, she’s so cool. I just loved the way that Ella gives us diversity in such abundance.
As the plot and sub-plot unfolded, I found my head in this spin, I didn’t know what was going to happen and that just added so much more to my reading enjoyment. My enjoyment of this book only increased as the mystery of the disappearance was solved, I found it all to be so surprising. I did find that this book was a little bit different in its tone to the previous books, namely in its introspection, and Ella also opened up this new vein, we got a bit about Elodie’s heritage and man oh man, I can’t wait to see where this is going to go next.
And I loved how Alex and Elodie randomly started to talk about different theories, and I found this leading to an even bigger mystery, one that’s surrounding Whip’s missing sister. That’s such an ‘oooo it’s possible moment. I’m biting at the gait to see who’s actually going to be right, Alex or Whip. And I am also dying to see how that whole romance that had been perfectly set up, is going to survive and the betrayal that was so heart shattering is going to resolve itself. I really need book 5 now!
I must say that if you haven’t already started the Ravens Hollow series, then you don’t know what you’re missing. I highly recommend it. All the twists and turns, the magic, the mysteries, the relationships, the characters, it’s all going to have you totally enthralled from the first page of book 1 and from that point on you’re going to be anticipating the next chapter in Elodie’s adventure.
Book 4 in this series and oh my heck, they get better with each book! I'm loving Elodie, I'm loving Pongo and I'm definitely loving Whip! This author has created such an immersive read that, once you start reading, you have no choice but to read to the end.
Anguish and heartache right from the onset, see Elodie's world shattered. This time, it's lies and concealed info that threatens to dislodge her heart, questioning everything she knows and feels. Hardly having time to process who her mother was, that her mother was alive, she's hit with another bombshell and, this one, had the potential to completely unravel her. And, not only is here fledgling relationship in major trouble, the person responsible for the ward preventing anyone other than supernaturals from seeing Ravens Hollow has....disappeared, she also has to deal with the Alex "thing"! Yep, lots going on! I do love how Ella muddies it all up, she throws a lot into the mixer and, always, ends up giving me a delicious smoothy! Her narrative is very convincing, I felt the blow just as much as Elodie did and I totally got her trust issues!
I love Elodie's evolution, from human investigative journalist, to vampire investigative journalist, operative word: journalist. An investigative journalist can't be held down by much, and heartbreak aside, Elodie's need to discover, uncover, come to the fore. I love how fallible Elodie is, I love how she adds 2 plus 2 and comes up with 10! Some embarrassing oopsies indeed...but she's nothing if not persistent, she'll do whatever she can to unravel any mystery. The mystery of her heart proves to be the most challenging for her, and, I have to say, after what she learnt, I can't say I blame her! I was just as distraught as she, I wanted to cry that HE did that, that HE lied! I'm not going to tell you who but I guarantee you've be as horrified as I!
To get back to the 'Alex thing'... well, he evokes all sorts of feelings in me. Warmth, tenderness and wanting to cry, all at the same time. He's just the sweetest, nicest, most supportive person to Elodie, he's definitely a hottie and he's head over heels for Elodie. Which is an emotional complication... her heart lies elsewhere. Or does it? I honestly WANT her to get it on with Alex but I love Whip too, so...yes, I get her inner turmoil. Sympathy and an emotional tug of war, are mine as well as Elodie's, crafted skilfully by the author, the anguish is real. It's offset by the diverse characters of the paper Elodie works for, the entire family vibe is beautiful. Bobby is a perfect father figure, never pushing, always there for all of them. Chloe, well heck, she's an effervescence bubble of positivity and I LOVED that she and Dylan are taking the plunge! Sigh.. so sweet. And Whip? Shoot, he's a walking dichotomy. One one hand he's gentle and respectful and loving, on the other he's hiding so much, he might as well as Fort Knox. His past is shrouded, concealed, only allowing bits and pieces to be seen but it's clear he's besotted with Elodie.
This cast of characters is all unique, we even get a snooty, know it all ghost, and a gorgeous doggie called Pongo. He's a special doggo, he can even 'speak'. I really liked a new character, Arabella, she's just so cool! Yep, Ms Stone gives us diversity in abundance. The plot that unfolds had me in a spin, I'm never sure what going to go down and that adds to immense reading pleasure. Especially when the mystery of the disappearance is solved, it's a surprise. Although this book was slightly different in tone to the previous books, namely the introspective kind, Ms Stone also opened up a new vein in this book, a tidbit about Elodie's heritage and golly, I'm so excited to see where this will lead to! And so too the randomly bounced off theories by Alex and Elodie, alluding to an even bigger mystery involving Whip's missing sister. That was a definite 'ooooo, it's so possible' moment. I'm desperate to see who will end up being right, Alex or Whip. I'm also kind of desperate to see if the whole romance that was so perfect will survive lies and ultimately the betrayal, which was shattering. To all of them! So, yes... I need the next book NOW please Ella!
From the first page, this book grabs you and doesn’t let go—prepare for plot twists, shocking revelations, and some serious nail-biting moments.
The heart of this story is Floyd’s sudden disappearance. Without him, the delicate illusion that keeps their world hidden from prying eyes is at risk of collapsing. As the investigation into his whereabouts intensifies, Elodie’s investigative instincts are put to the test, but it’s not just the mystery that’s weighing on her. Her relationship with Whip is in tatters after a devastating secret about his past is revealed, shaking her trust and leaving her questioning everything she thought she knew about him. Can they repair their bond amidst the chaos? The emotional tension adds depth to the story, making Elodie’s journey even more compelling.
The arrival of the mysterious Arabella, a witch with ties to a centuries-old curse, adds a new layer to the mystery. Arabella’s powers are still unfolding, and her arrival in town couldn’t be more suspicious, especially as Elodie is forced to confront her own heritage. Secrets, betrayal, and some great humour (Arabella’s first broom ride is a laugh-out-loud moment!) create a story full of surprises. I have a feeling we might hear more from Arabella and her grumpy otter sidekick in the future.
The world-building in this series continues to shine, and Ella Stone’s writing draws you in from the very start, making it impossible to put the book down.
The secondary characters are just as riveting as Elodie herself. Dylan and Chloe’s will-they-won’t-they dance moves forward, whilst Elodie’s rediscovered mother, Amira, remains an enigma. The character development is rich and layered, with every individual facing their own battles, adding emotional depth to the ongoing mystery.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, heart racing, as it builds to a conclusion that raises more questions than it answers. I loved the eventual simplicity in the conclusion of the mystery of Floyd’s disappearance.
If you haven’t yet started the Ravens Hollow series, I really recommend it. The twists, the magic, the mysteries, and the relationships will have you hooked from page one, and you’ll be left eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Elodie’s journey.
I received an advance copy of this book but this review is my voluntary no obligation opinion.
Elodie is a kick-butt journalist with a knack for getting to the bottom of a story. For years, she worked shoulder-to-shoulder with her best friend and editor, Donna, who’s always supported her and encouraged her to follow her leads. Or she did before she arranged for Elodie to ship off to the US, to the small island town of Raven’s Hollow, after a midnight stakeout went terribly wrong and left Elodie pulseless.
Journalism is Elodie’s lifeblood; it’s where she gets her kicks. No need for Route 66! And with her ex-fiancé left back on the British Isles, it’s a whole new world for this fledgling vamp; she’s going to be getting her kicks all over the island.
When the island’s main protector, the bridge-guarding witch Floyd, goes missing mysteriously, suspicion is everywhere, and the big question is “What happens if the ‘typs’ find us?!” Alongside her new bestest boi Pongo the wonder-pup, who keeps…on…growing… and despite the wishes of the island's Chief Inspector of Police, total hottie and Elodie’s boyfriend, Whip… though that has its own questions now (so much for swearing off men), Elodie’s on the case, ready to break another story in her new life on Raven’s Hollow! I won’t even spoil the mega-twist!
“Curses and Copy” is the fourth novel of the new “Raven’s Hollow Investigation” series by author Ella Stone. It’s the first solo series of hers that I’ve been a part of since the beginning, and I can’t WAIT for the next book! Having enjoyed her work in partnership with Heather G. Harris on the “Witchlight Magical Mysteries” series (still going strong!), I was confident it was going to be good, but man-oh-man did my expectations undersell the reality. I give this a very confident 10/10 and highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a strong female lead over the age of 20 with a career, a solid head on her shoulders, and a curiosity that just won’t stop. This has the makings of a Dresden-esque series, if I do say so myself.
I received a free copy of this ebook/audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oh my goodness, this book packs a punch! Not only does it grab a hold and not let go, but poor Elodie really goes through the wringer! Whoever thought being a vampire makes life easier for you, has no idea how wrong they could be.
The main story in this book, is the disappearance of Floyd, whose magic hides the bridge protecting the Paras of Ravens Hollow from the ‘typs’ of the nonmagical world. No one knows how, where or why he has gone, but he must be found before the magic fails. With talk of curses between families, has his disappearance got a sinister motive? Whip and his team investigate, alongside Elodie in journalist mode, while magical help is also sought.
Meantime Elodie is wondering what is going on with her and Whip. Secrets in a relationship cause trouble… and some secrets are bigger than others. Elodie is at sixes and sevens, while she tries to figure out if they have a future. How much the emotional turmoil impacts on her investigative instincts, remains to be seen, as she tries to work out what happened to Floyd, and has another story that she wants to give her attention to.
Then there is the mysterious Arabella, newly in town, just as Floyd vanishes. A powerful witch from England, who knows about the curses. Elodie has her suspicions!
I love the way all the threads of the investigation and relationship issues pull together, alongside side stories for other characters. Dylan and Chloe continue their will they, won’t they path towards a potential date. Ines isn’t forgotten, as she is still brought down by a, literal, inner demon. Amira, Elodie’s newly rediscovered mother is still a mystery to be fully solved and, throughout it all, stalwart Alex is still there, supporting Elodie through everything. There is so much going on to grab your attention, yet the story isn’t overwhelming - it just gives you LOTS to think about.
I received this book courtesy of Booksprout for the purpose of a fair and honest review.
Overview: Elodie Evergreen has lived in Raven's Hollow since she's learned about it after being turned into a vampire. But, hey, she's lucky. Whip, her boyfriend, is the Detective Inspector, and she has a job with the local press. But, what happens when the bridge-guarding witch disappears? And what exactly is Whip hiding? Can Elodie help solve this case and repair her relationship? And why does her sun ward keep failing early? Let's find out.
Dislikes: Elodie did seem to jump to conclusions rather rapidly. Though she was left on the wrong foot for much of this book. Heartbreak, or a lover's quarrel, can be a great way to limit the ability to think clearly.
I feel sorry for the SUFO members. Being born without the magical abilities of your family would be worse than not knowing that there are supernatural hunters among us.
Whip has problems with his police force, and his girlfriend. The way his association with a rather brutal group was described sounded more like an undercover cop, than a true believer in the organization.
Likes: Raquel and Bobby worked well together. I loved the fact that they find reasons to keep Linda from cooking, rather than bluntly telling her she can't cook. They were stiving to save Linda's feelings.
Alex has a way to get to the facts. I wouldn't argue too much with him.
Arabella seemed rather laid back.
The townhall proves that it would be unnerving to see Alex when he is irritated.
Conclusion: I had a fun time with this book. If you are a fan of urban fantasy, then this book is for you. Enjoy the read.
I awaited this book with anticipation after the cliffhanger of note in the previous book. Phewww it kicked off continuing with the shocking truth and Elodie is livid with Whip. Plus he omitted telling her an important thing about about his past. Her whole world is turned upside down and trust is lost big time. Yet she is tight lipped on sharing with anyone, not even Alex. Then Floyd Oakencroft, the warden of the bridge disappeared. The plot thickens with the Willowwood curse from an ancient seriously strong witch family thought to have died out, but apparently not, as Arabella Willowwood is in town. Interesting new character who didn't know she was a witch. It's still and error for Arabella coming to terms with her witch powers as Elodie finds out on her first broom ride, Arabella is a first timer on a broom too. Pretty hilarious. The storyline has so much happening, be prepared, e.g. excitingly scrying magic, oops moments, Elodie threatening Larry with her fangs lol, her sun wards doesn't last etc. At least the end didn't leave me with a heart attack again, but definitely with many questions racing in my mind about what the future holds for Elodie after Arabella's rune reading, what's in Elodie's heritage and her relationship with Whip??? Pretty please Ella don't keep us waiting to long. I received an advanced review copy from the author and leave this review voluntary Thank you.
Elodie has just had a shock and it’s about to get to worse. When she finds out that Whip has been lying to her since they met about some pretty important information, she’s not sure she can ever trust him again. But when Floyd, the witch who guards the bridge, goes missing her personal problems need to be put on hold. No one knows how long the barrier will last without Floyd, so it’s a race against time to find whoever took Floyd and possibly exposes the supes to the rest of the world. Elodie has a lot on her plate in this book. Not only is she dealing with finally finding her mom after all this time, but now she isn’t sure if Whip can be trusted anymore either. She’s so confused and it’s definitely affecting her. She has no idea who she can share things with right now. Alex was a great friend to her in this book and I was happy to see how he was portrayed for sure! We meet a couple new characters, Arabella being one of them and if she got her own series with her otter familiar after this I would not be upset! The mystery in this book was perfect! There are a few suspects, and you never know who it’s going to turn out to be. The clues just never add up 100% and I have to say that I actually made noise out loud when the mystery was solved (not going to say what noise bc no spoilers!!) There were also some new ways of using magic in this book that I found interesting as well. We definitely start to get some answers in this book about one characters past, but there are also still questions about other characters that I cannot wait to find out the answers to as we get further into the story! We got just enough new information that I am already waiting for the next book.
Curses and Copy continues the paranormal mystery series, bringing Elodie back into a world where witches, vampires, shifters, and other supernatural beings all coexist with their own complicated histories and loyalties. As another mystery unfolds, Elodie finds herself navigating both the case and growing tensions within her paranormal community. I'm not sure I fully understood the explosive reaction Elodie had toward Whip. With so many intricacies and long running conflicts between the different paranormal groups, it felt like there was history and context I was supposed to remember from earlier books. From what I could recall, Whip hadn't really done anything new in the present story beyond continuing patterns that had already existed. Since it had been a while since I read the previous books, it's possible I missed some of the emotional weight the author was building toward. The central mystery also felt less urgent and volatile than those in earlier books. The discrimination woven throughout the story was, to me, the most significant tragedy and conflict, yet it never felt fully addressed in a satisfying way. Because of that, the emotional payoff didn't land as strongly as I hoped. Overall, I still enjoyed spending time in this paranormal world and with these characters, but this was the weakest book in the series for me so far.
Curses And Copy really started off with fireworks! There was an absolute avalanche of revelations, with a lot of information coming to light quickly. The ramifications of that drove the story and character actions throughout the book.
I liked how the beginning made me think that one thing was going to be the main mystery arc and while that was played out in a really interesting way, the author had a lot more in store for the residents of Ravens Hollow. I was certainly never bored!
Ms Stone crafted several storylines running parallel and I loved that. The island community is filled with compelling characters so it's great to see them all getting 'screen' time and crossing paths in all the different environments of island life. I felt I was always in touch with characters from previous books while meeting new ones too.
Poor Elodie was kept on her toes. She seemed to be always running from one spot fire to another and even exhausted Pongo at one stage! I got the feeling that a bit of personal history had been turned from a molehill into a mountain and couldn't really come to grips with that as it seemed solely used to elevate the drama of several scenes.
Except for that one blip I really enjoyed this book and continue to have fun with the series.
After Elodie's previous adventures, Curses seems much more ordinary and less supernatural. Where before, we've had werewolf packs and hydras, we, unexpectedly, follow a road with emotions and events that belong more in the world outside of fiction. While I enjoyed it and wouldn't say no to reading it again, I was expecting a lot more excitement than secondhand embarrassment. It left me confused about how I was supposed to feel, coming out of it after a days of binge-reading my way through it.
Onto the fun bit - at the end of the previous book, we have Whip pulling out all the magical stops to get information from Amara, but is he the villain? In this one, we see a complete 180 in personality. Then we move onto trying to find Floyd, the ward-keeping Witch we've gotten used to hearing about fishing just outside the barrier for Raven's Hollow. Shenanigans ensue and before we know it, we've reached the end and hope for "just one more book" to follow on with as we learn more about Elodie and Pongo.

I forgot just how much I love this series until I started this latest book. I just adore all of the characters. However, I am a tiny bit miffed at a certain one after this one, but no spoilers. I hope that this does not change things too much. LOL! Anyway, Elodie is back but there is a resident of Raven’s Hollow that is missing and it is up to her and her friends to find him. I just loved how this book unfolded, and the solution to the mystery was just really wild and unusual. I in no way could have guessed what would happen. A new minor character popped up in this, and I really, really want a series for her. Seriously. I want to know more. She was awesome! Anyway, this is a great installment to this series, and it’s probably the best so far. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
We are back in Ravens hollow trying to get some answers after the ending of book three and we find ourselves thrown headlong into another mystery. The crossing guard Floyd has gone missing so it’s all hands on deck because if he is not found then the magic that hides Ravens hollow will fail and the world will discover this amazing place! It’s complicated, it’s a little tense and it’s is entirely gripping, enthralling and has you on your toes. Elodie is still up in the air regarding the revelations from Whip and her mother and not sure where they stand at this point but feeling must be put aside to solve the mystery of Floyd’s whereabouts. This is well paced, it’s exciting, secrets are revealed yet more also surface, we see some old friends and make some new ones and yes Elodie saves the day! It’s a fantastic read and a great addition to this series!
This really is a fun series. Elodie is getting used to the paranormal life, she’s got a good job, her mother is back in her life (although there are a bunch of questions) and she’s falling in love with Whip. Then things fall apart. A major argument/problem with Whip makes her double think everything. And the bridge keeper, Floyd is missing. To get the story, Elodie must deal with Whip and she is trying not to let her problems interfere with anything. This book has a nice mystery, interesting characters and story, romance, humour and a fantastic dog, Pongo, the Leonberger. The book is not only about the mystery or Elodie and Whip’s relationship but also the lives of the other characters. It is a quick, easy read that is thoroughly enjoyable.
This is one of those series that is great through and through. Perfect characters, a fantastic storyline and that touch of magic that makes it hard to set down. Every book is steeped in mystery (Pongo the pup is my favorite one) and a bit of pure chaos. I've been dying to read this one after the way book 3 ended and I was not disappointed!!! So many questions were answered but so many more mysteries were revealed!! If you love urban fantasy, paranormal mystery, paranormal romance (no spice), small town cozy....this series is just so awesome, it's hard to put a label on it. There's lost family, found family, small town drama (this is a paranormal island) slight love triangles, big issues plaguing the world of paranormal characters. I absolutely love this series.
I started this book last night and finished it this morning. The stories about Elodie Evergreen are extremely fast paced! From the first chapter, it dove right in to the new problem immediately picking up where the last book had stopped stopped. No weeks or months between; just an immediate pick up. We finally got some back story onto what is going on with whip! Although now I’m not sure how I feel about him at the moment. I still love Alex. I’m wondering what will happen there as well. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series to give us some more resolution and answer all the questions that I have. For example, what does her father know(or not know) or what is he not telling her?
Curses and Copy is another fast-paced instalment following Elodie Evergreen, the investigative reporter who is navigating her new life in Raven’s Hollow.
Elodie still sits on the slightly unlikeable side for me. She’s so focused on getting the story that empathy occasionally gets left behind—something that definitely causes problems for her in this book.
That said, the writing style is fantastic: easy to read, engaging, and it keeps the pages turning. The investigations are interesting and the world-building continues to expand nicely. There’s the hint of a love triangle brewing (not really my cup of tea), but thankfully the mystery remains the main attraction.
Elodie and Whip along with Alex and Rachel are looking for a missing elite witch. There is an urgency to finding the with or Ravens Hollow could be over run with regular people. A secret is revealed and it affects several of the characters. Elodie is slowly coming to understand her mom, still a ways to go. Another missing witch just eloped and caused more drama. Elodie is also trying to help the other paras who can't shift to be recognized as belonging not inferior. A lot of issues packed into this book mysteries as well as gaining knowledge of other paras and maturing of our main character. I would recommend this book.
The bridge guard and super powerful witch Floyd is missing. Newcomers with past history are in town. Elodie Evergreen has her hands full not only with the story but a catastrophic lie from her boyfriend too. Can she solve the case before her daylight ward runs out or will she discover more secrets in the process?
So much packed into this one! Elodie is still learning so much about being a vampire and finding herself amongst the Para world. I love how her mistakes shape her and redirect her focus and goals. Emotional tension, secrets that can destroy trust, family protection and more. So much still to uncover and discover. I absolutely can’t wait for the next one!
4 stars and another great book in this series! Elodie is a vampire who lives in Raven Hollow and is a journalist. In this one she is investigating a disappearance of a witch. She also finds some information out from Whip that makes her question everything. Pongo her dog is her sidekick in this world too. I love Elodie who has gone through a lot and is starting to feel more comfortable in Ravens Hollow. Whip tells us about his sister who is missing and he wants to find her. I love these characters and it is a quick read too. So interesting and keeps you reading. This is definitely fantasy book with some romance.
Wowee! That was a rough ride, my heart was aching for Elodie during this one with the relationship woes. I love Arabella, a new character, hope she makes a reappearance in later books. There is so much to unpack with this book, the situation with Whip, the disappearance of Floyd from the bridge (loved the outcome), the other missing couple 😎, and the problems with the daylight ward again. Then there is poor Elodie jumping to wrong conclusions with her mind in a whir, and causing emotional upheaval for herself and others, she really was having a bad week 🥴.
Not to mention the request she makes of Whip to try to mend the damage to the trust between them, and what he does for her that makes his life somewhat more difficult. What you ask? You will have to read it and find out 😉.
The great thing about this series is that, although the books will be richer if read in order, you can also read them as stand alone stories. Of course, they always end with a bit of a hook that’ll make you want to read the next book. But the main mystery is solved. No spoilers, but this one is rather funny. There’s pretty much nonstop action with great world building, wonderful characters, and a well thought out plot. A wonderful urban fantasy mystery.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Elodie is blindsided when she finds out her mother is still alive, and to top it off she finds out things with her boyfriend are not all they seem. Now the story she is working on leads to more questions and she is realizing that she still has much to learn about Ravens Hollow. This book in the series reveals secrets about some of the characters and introduces us to some new characters that add to the story. This book was definitely hard to put down and left some questions that I am looking forward to finding in the next one.
Elodie is an investigator at heart but that same heart has its own trust issues when it comes to herself. Who is Whip actually? Can she trust him? What is her mother’s story and does she deserve a relationship? These are all an aside when the safety of the island is at risk when the bridge guardian goes missing. Ella has crafted a complex community of characters and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I like these books it just took me a while to remember what happened from the previous book in the series. I felt bad for the FMC because her boyfriend that she thought she loved, had lied to her, and now she’s not sure whether she can trust him or not. The FMC is new to the paranormal world and so whenever people have been casting spells, she definitely wants to be there to see how the magic works. I will definitely read the next book in the series.
After Whip's revelation, Eliodie is struggling to come to terms. Luckily, there is a new mystery to sink her fangs into. When Floyd is missing, Eliodie and Pongo are on the case. Eliodie is also trying to sort through her own issues as well. Well written, fun and engaging. The characters are enigmatic and evolving. If you like paranormal mysteries, this is the series for you!
Book 4 of Elodies adventures in Ravens Hollow picks up right on the massive cliffhanger where our beloved author left us and I promise it was worth the wait! Seriously fast paced, great characters and writing that keeps you reading on for ‘just one more chapter’ I absolutely love this series and can’t wait for the next one.
As usual from this author a great book that is hard to put down. Mysteries to solve. New characters introduced. Some secrets revealed and Elodie and Whips relationship is on rocky ground. Look forward to the next book, I am becoming very invested in this community. I received an ARC from the author but I freely give this review.
It's logical that not all books in a series can not have the same level of tension; sometimes it's necessary to delve deeper into emotions at play. As usual the characters were believable and relatable, but for me this is currently the weakest book in the series
