Princess Philippa Stanley is over being the perfect royal.
The world’s got bigger problems than the color of her nail polish, but the tabloids insist on detailing her every royal faux pas. Like her bold new hairstyle and missing pantyhose. Freaking pantyhose. Things that don’t matter to anyone. Except her parents.
Their Majesties are desperate for her to settle down. So desperate they invite a dozen overzealous bachelors to compete for her hand in marriage. Now she’s living her own nightmare version of The Bachelorette: Royal Edition with suitors ambushing her at every turn.
No way is she participating in this farce of a courtship, but when her father makes her an offer she can’t refuse—take part in exchange for access to her trust fund—it’s the only way to get the money she needs to start her own charitable foundation.
Fine. She’ll play the game. There’s zero chance she’ll fall in love until she crashes into a sexy, down-to-earth philanthropist who can help her launch her charity and drive off the unwanted suitors. It’s like she’s met the perfect guy.
Jennifer Bonds is the USA Today bestselling author of sizzling contemporary romance with sassy heroines, sexy alphas, and a whole lot of mischief. She’s a sucker for enemies-to-lovers stories, laugh-out-loud banter, and over-the-top grand gestures. Jennifer lives in Pennsylvania, where her overactive imagination and weakness for reality TV keep life interesting. She's lucky enough to live with her own real-life hero, two adorable (and sometimes crazy) children, and one rambunctious K9. Loves Buffy, Mexican food, a solid Netflix binge, the Winchester brothers, cupcakes, and all things zombie. Sings off-key.
QOTD: Would you ever marry into a royal family? My A: No. Way. 🤣 . Book three in Jennifer Bonds' Royally Engaged series was JUST what I needed. I've been on a roll with some great books this week and adding this to the list just made it that much better. I read (and own) books one and two, so I was pumped to see this on NetGalley! . Normally, I'm not really a fan of reading about royal families but as I said with the first two books, Jennifer Bonds manages to keep things modern, fresh and relatable. Her writing is so easy to read and there just the right amount of drama and chemistry. You know it's written well when the FMC is a virgin and I DIDN'T get the ick, something that pretty always happens when I read the virgin trope. I thought things were handled so well, the communication (minus one *little* detail 😜) was great and I think Henry and Pippa were such a good fit. Pippa needed someone who would not only see her as a person before seeing her title, but who always wasn't afraid to push her when needed. . All in all, the perfect addition to the Royally Engaged series, a series I think everyone would like! . BLURB: Princess Philippa Stanley is over being the perfect royal.

I’ve been itching for a good Royal romance lately and A Royal Mistake definitely delivered!
Princess Pippa has returned from an extended gap year, where she volunteered with the non-profit organization VDRI, a changed woman. The third child of very traditional monarchs, she’s lived her life as the Crown Jewel: lovely to look at, but with no agency. Upon her return her parents announce they wish her to marry and summon 12 royal bachelors to the palace in an attempt at matchmaking. Pippa is unimpressed, and is only participating in this craziness because her father, The King, made a deal to release half her trust fund by the end of summer if she made a wholehearted effort at finding a suitable match. This money would allow her to start her own non-profit. But she’ll need advice for starting it up. Enter Henry von der Recke, the CEO of VDRI. He’s at the palace to negotiate a fundraising deal with the Royal Valerian Foundation and ends up agreeing to mentor Pippa on starting her own.
This book held my attention from start to finish. I’ve found lately that I’ll get halfway through a novel and get, not bored per say, but not as interested in continuing? Like, I wanna know what happens, but I don’t always wanna read 300 pages more to get to the end. But this book did not pose that problem! The chapters drifted from Pippa to Henry’s perspective with a break between both. The writing style was fun and easy to read. This book is apparently the third in a series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by starting with this one first.
Pippa is a woman who’s spent her whole life in a gilded cage and now that she’s seen what’s out there she wants to be free. Before her time volunteering it’s very clear she was sheltered and relegated to the side by everyone. Her family talks down to her and tries to make her choices for her and doesn’t seem to understand that she’s a grown woman, not a child. Pippa wants to use her position and platform to do good in the world and she works her butt off to see that dream become a reality. Henry is a Prince but that’s a well kept secret. Due to a pretty awful car crash when he was young he’s been kept from the public eye with an assumed name, growing up in relative anonymity. He visits Valeria hoping to secure funding for his foundation and ends up in a mentoring position with Pippa. He’s a good man, kind, well spoken and not controlling or forceful. He legitimately wants to help Pippa and is not just after her title.
The spice was great and Pippa, while a virgin, was not shy about what she wants. Henry was respectful and sexy and it made a good match. It wasn’t crass or overdone and I was here for it!
I will say I wish Pippa had a bit more support from her family. Her parents want to control her and her brothers just seem to brush her off most of the time. She didn’t seem to have an ally with any of them for most of the book which did make me sad. But she held her own throughout which just shows how strong a girl she is.
The portions of the book featuring the suitors and their scenes were great. Some of the things these dudes say or do to get Pippa’s attention was wild! I loved reading these parts and found a bunch of the situations setup pretty creative!
If you’re looking for a tension filled royal romance featuring a princess who wants to do good in the world, a prince who is hiding his true identity, a stable of royal suitors and a few Disney lines tossed in (I definitely saw at least 2!) then this book is for you! Definitely one of my favourite reads of the year!
Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Princess Philippa Stanley wants her crown to mean more than being pretty. She wants to make a difference , to help people not just by the foundation she wants to build but by actually doing the ground, physical work too. The Majesties are desperate to see her settle down , so they invite a dozen of overzealous bachelors to compete for her hand in marriage (our very own Indian version of Swayamvar. And no Henry is not in the running, he's at the palace for a meeting so he can secure funds for his very own foundation.
😊What i liked -
✔ Royal Romance/The Bachelorette Lover's. ✔ Okay let me first start off with appreciating the Dedication. " For all the women who've been told they're too much, or to sit down, or to be quiet. Fuck that noise. Be loud, unapologetic, and fierce." It felt like she had me in mind when she wrote this. ✔ OMG Henry , where is this guy in real life? He is such a perfect gentleman. He is funny, sweet, caring and swoony. ✔ I Loved Pippa and her antics to shuffle through the bachelors and to ruffle her parents feathers. ✔ I laughed so loud at the scene where Lord Van Den Berg sings for Pippa and the paintball fiasco. ✔ I loved Pippa and Henry's slow burn chemistry and how Henry always asked for permission (as i said total gentleman). ✔ It's a cute, funny, swoony and dramafull (new word again) book. A total easy read , so you can finish it in one go.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ If there was real life Henry and i was real life Pippa (though i really wouldn't want to be real life royalty , their life is sad).
📚Who Should read : 👶 Beginner's 💞Romance lover 💘Royal Romance
📈My Rating : 4.5/5
P.s- This is the 3rd book in the series , but can totally be read as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley , Jennifer bond and Xpresso book tours for a copy.
After reading the Waverly Wildcats books, I decided I have found myself another must-buy author. So when I read the blurb for A Royal Mistake and was presented with a chance to read it, I jumped on it immediately! I hadn't read the other books in the series, but I was able to read this story as a standalone with no issues and fell in love with Pippa and Henry.
With her brothers in the line of succession and her country's antiquated laws holding her back, Pippa has always been viewed as the "Crown Jewel". After spending a gap year working with a philanthropic organization, her eyes have been opened to the realities of poverty in other parts of the world. She returns to Valeria with a whole new perspective on what she wants out of life, but their law requires that she must marry before she can engage in any business of the country. Her parents think her ideas are just a passing fad and dismiss them out of hand, determined to find her a husband they deem beneficial before the end of the summer regardless of her opinions on the matter. The old Pippa would have backed down, but the new Pippa has other plans. She does her best to turn the situation to her advantage, but the comparison to The Bachelorette Royal Edition had me snickering and feeling a little cranky right alongside her.
As Pippa's temper flares at the ridiculousness of her circumstances, she runs into Henry: literally. Their first meeting doesn't go well, but when Pippa's brother Liam enlightens her on the reason for his visit to Valeria (hint: it's not to join the harem of men vying for a crown), she realizes he may be able to help her get her plans for a non-profit off the ground smoothly. With a little groveling, she is able to secure his assistance and soon they are working side by side and getting to know each other.
Henry's true identity is a closely held secret and he values his privacy above all else after nearly dying at a young age thanks to overzealous paparazzi in pursuit of a story. As he gets to really know Pippa, he struggles with what to do. Should he walk away from the most intriguing woman he has ever met for the sake of maintaining his anonymity, or should he risk telling her the truth about who he really is and take a chance that she will kick him out of the castle before he secures the funding his company so desperately needs?
This story had sweetness, heat, laughter, and a little bit of angst to get to the ending we all know is coming. I alternated between giggling, shaking my head in a bit of frustration and "oh you really did not just do that", and full on laughing at some of the antics Pippa pulled to try to get a few of her suitors to defect and go home. I will definitely be reading Liam and Xander's stories soon, and I have no doubt I will revisit this story again in the future.
This was a cute story with just a little bit of heat that worked well for the couple. Pippa is a princess whose parents are determined to have her married off to another royal—no matter who he is. And to do that, they bring in a dozen suitors for her to choose from. She takes out her frustrations in a series of challenges (paintball, croquet, etc.) in order to eliminate at least some of them. The last thing she wants is a marriage of convenience. But the law of the land says she must be married before she can work in the royal charitable foundation. In addition to the suitors, there’s the handsome Henry, a businessman who’s there to speak to her brothers about his charity. Of all the bachelors there, Henry is the only man she has even the slightest interest in, but he’s not a royal.
Pippa seems at times a spoiled little rich girl who wants everything her way, but… she is also a modern woman stuck in a chauvinistic society so the conflict is there. Plus the conflict between her and her demanding parents, and her and the suitors. There’s plenty going on in this story - including some humorous moments. The story is quick and keeps your attention. Plus, there’s a HEA that satisfies.
Recommendation: Definitely recommended for a cute contemporary romance read.
Disclaimer: I received a final and/or advanced reader copy of this book with the hope that I will leave my unbiased opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… My Opinions. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing me with a free copy of the novel in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love a modern royal story and I enjoyed seeing the difficulties Pippa faced - especially due to gender vs traditions. I also liked the way Pippa challenged these outdated traditions with some very modern challenges for the eligible bachelors. I think the lighthearted way that this is dealt with (most of the time) helps to make this fun and entertaining.
There were a couple of little things that I struggled with - for instance there were a lot of characters that seemed to have no redeeming factors at all (including some of the bachelors and Pippa’s parents) and I think this made the characters two dimensional. Also, I think family dynamics could have been given greater thought - Pippa and her brothers and parents and Henry and his brother.
One minor issue (which is probably just me!) was the use of “toff” from the princess when insulting other royals. I understand that some of them came across as arrogant and out of touch, but it came off as slightly hypocritical coming from a princess. Perhaps a different term would have fit better?
This novel is part of a series, however I have not read any of the other stories in this series. I think for the most part this could be read as a stand-alone, but if you want a better understanding of Pippa’s brothers and their partners then you’re probably better off reading those first.
Ms. Bonds is a new-to-me author, but I can tell you after reading this, I will definitely be looking for more of her books. In fact, this is the third book of the series, and I will be certainly adding the first two books to my TBR list. I haven't really read a lot of books about royal families, I honestly thought they wouldn't interest me much. But Ms. Bonds has a great way of keeping it down-to-earth and relatable, that now I want more! I really enjoyed the characters of Pippa and Henry and how well they were together. Henry didn't let the flash of royalty intimidate him and told it like it was, which Pippa really needed. He provided the push that she was missing. Pippa's parents want her to marry and so they put together a sort of royal version of The Bachelorette, which she absolutely does not agree with until her dad makes a deal with her. She will gain access to her trust fund if she shows an effort in choosing a suitable match. She could use the money to start her own charity, but she hasn't the slightest idea where to begin. This is where Henry comes in. He agrees to be her mentor. Though he is not in the running for the royal competition of finding Pippa a suitable match, he may very well be in the running for winning her heart. A very cute and sweet story that kept my interest all the way through. Really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author! I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
After being allowed to travel to impoverished countries to work for a charitable foundation, Princess Pippa is determined to start her own charitable mission to help women. Pippa needs to access her trust fund in order to start up her charity. Her parents are determined that their daughter marry and settle down as a working Royal. Pippa makes a deal with their Majesties. If Pippa gets engaged within a few months, she can begin to access her trust fund early. Her parents invite a group of royal bachelors to the castle, and Pippa begins to screen the approved suitors. Henry is not one of the bachelor-invitees. He’s a guest of one of Pippa’s brothers and is in negotiations to get royal funding for his own renowned charitable foundation. Henry grew up at boarding schools instead of in a castle, and protects his anonymity. Sparks start to fly between Pippa and Henry, who agrees to mentor Pippa about establishing a charitable foundation. The social responsibility messaging was subtle, but valuable. This story is well-written with some humor, great characters and adult heat. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it highly. I received an advance copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A ROYAL MISTAKE is the story of the third child in the royal Valerian family - Pippa. She’s not the heir. She’s not the spare. She’s being set up by her parents to make a marriage that will provide an alliance.
But Pippa wants to spend time helping the less fortunate find water, learn a trade, etc. she wants start her own foundation. Since her parents have other ideas she agrees to having 12 bachelors of good pedigree to the palace so she can make a choice.
So in the midst of all this, we have Henry, a very successful philanthropist, also at the palace to forge a partnership with the Valerian royalty’s foundation. Henry keeps showing up at all the “bachelor events” to “help” Pippa make her choice.
It’s a fun story with all the antics involving the bachelors. It’s also quite the slow burn that gives just enough to keep you reading for more. When I started the book it was a little hard to get into the story. At about 20%, that changed and the pages kept turning. It is a good addition to the series and an entertaining royal romance.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing this advance copy of the book so I could submit this voluntary review.
This is book 3 of the series, but the first one I read.
These seem to be standalone books, because I didn't notice any plot gaps or backstory holes. There were references to Pippa's brothers and their wives, and I definitely want to read their stories in books 1 and 2.
Now, about this book......wow....what can I say? I devoured this book. I was hooked from the first page. The writing is great, the characters are so real. Reading this fun, fast paced, funny, sweet, mischievous, hilarious, real, sexy, outrageous story is a treat.
Everything about this is perfect....except one tiny detail. It's not a huge deal, but did bother me enough to keep this out of perfect realm: I didn't quite get why there was the frequent use of German 'swear' words. Two words were just used sooooo many times, and for me, they didn't fit well. Like I said, that's a minor point and not enough for me to deduct a star. This is still a solid 5 star read

Princess Philippa Stanley is not interested in marrying any of the 12 royal bachelors her parents have summoned for her to chose from. After spending some time with VDRI, a charitable organization, she is keen to start her own charitable organization to help women and children. But if she wants to get access to her trust fund, she has to make an effort at finding a suitable match, but who says she can’t make it fun. Henry von der Recke, is a philanthropist and the CEO of VDRI. He is at the palace to negotiate a fundraising deal with the Royal Valerian Foundation and gets roped into mentor Pippa on starting her non-profit and in vetting out the bachelors. This is such a fun read. It’s sweet, hot, fun and has some great characters. Pippa’s antics involving the bachelors were laugh out loud funny. I really liked Henry and Pippa together, they had some amazing chemistry and enjoyable banter. I loved how their story developed from the time they met to their HEA.
Princess Phillipa Stanley is the youngest in the royal family and the only family. She is fed up being the perfect princess and wants to have her own choices in life not tow the royal line to the exclusion of herself . Her parents have decided she must now marry and they have set up a summer full of a dozen zealous royal suitors to make a suitable royal marriage. Pippa is having none of it and so a very scheming Pippa style rebellion begins with her ultimate aim to set up her own charitable foundation. All is ticking along nicely until hot philanthropist Heinrich Von Der Reicke the CEO of VDRI the charity Pippa spent her gap year working for enters into the picture and has agreed to help her with the groundwork setting up her charity.
A fast moving well written romcom the fun characters humour secrets and twists all thrown in . Great summer read

This one is a winner! It's sweet, sexy, and filled with humor. While suffering her parents attempts to coerce her into marriage, she manipulates the circumstances and her suitors in an attempt to remove them so she can focus on her real goal of creating a charity to help women. She secures Henry's assistance in developing a business plan and creating her charity, but quickly becomes smitten. However, Henry is hiding a very big secret that could change everything....
I loved this book and found myself turning pages just as quickly as possible. I cared about the characters and felt invested in their getting a HEA ending. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.
A Royal Mistake is a great addition to the Royally Engaged series! After reading the other books I was looking forward to getting Pippa's story.
I really liked Pippa and Henry together. They had great chemistry and banter. The story is told in dual POV so you really get to understand these characters and what is at stake for each of them. Pippa is strong and intelligent and I loved that she wanted to make a real difference in the world.
The writing is engaging and entertaining. There were a number of moments that made me laugh and no shortage of sweet and swoony ones as they fell in love. I enjoyed this book and series quite a bit, and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Princess Pippa wants to work for her family's charitable foundation. She's forbidden to do so until she marries. Overwhelmed by noble suitors, she falls for a man she thinks is a commoner. What secrets is he hiding?
Pippa and Henry are adorable together. He understands her in a way no one else does. I felt for Pippa's frustration at being infantilized and objectified by her parents and the press. But she doesn't give in, and fights for what she wants. This funny, steamy, emotional rom com is a nice addition to the Royally Engaged series.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Henry is trying to save his organization by partnering with the Royal Foundation. Pippa wants to start her own foundation but struggling to get support from her parents who want her to marry. Henry and Pippa decide they can help each other and keep things strictly business.
I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. It was cute, funny, and sexy. Henry was perfect for Pippa. The development of their story was well written. I really enjoyed the humor and found myself laughing out loud throughout the book.
Also, as a Gossip Girl fan, I really enjoyed the media articles about what was happening in the castle.
I absolutely love royal books and this one was great! It was well written with all the feels and it held my attention from the first page to the last. This is not always the case! Plus, this book was soo much fun! Twelve bachelor trying to catch the attention of Pippa, the heroine. Pippa is not interested except her father offers her part of her trust fund if she’ll at least try to find someone. Pippa wants to start a charity. I loved all this yummy conflict and motivation for the characters. I loved Pippa and Henry and rooted for them every step of the way! This was a great summer read! Huge thanks to netgalley and the author for allowing me to read and review this book!
I really liked this book. It was an easy read that had me laughing. Henry and Pippa had chemistry which you could feel while reading. The spice was great - just wish there was more. This is book 3 in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. I hadn’t read any of the other books in the series and was able to still enjoy this book.
I was given an Advanced Reader Copy by NetGalley for an honest review.
I thought this was a sweet read. It was a hard story for me to get into, but I was happy that I kept going. It did get better as the story progressed. I usually like more heat to my stories than this one had, but the slow burn did fit Pippa and Henry's relationship. There were some moments that had me laughing out loud, and I thought that the story was an interesting take on a royal romance. They do get their HEA, and I thought it was a sweet ending. I would definitely read this author again.
Who knew the Royal family could be so interesting. This story is a twist on The Bachelor but with so much more. Pippa wants to go her own way but first she must fulfill her parents wishes. This book reminds us that we need to be true to what we want and not what other people want for us. This book had just the right amount of comedy with a little bit of spice.
A big thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This was a fun read. The characters have great chemistry. I loved that Pippa was always going against the flow. Her interactions with Prince Dominik were great. Henry was fascinating. The book is predictable but still was a blast to read. 4 stars
This was a quick super sexy read. I’ve loved the first two books in this series and this one closed out the trilogy perfectly. Poops and Henry were great characters. I wish there was more plotting with one character, but don’t want to spoil. I laughed out loud a few times, so that’s always good in my book.
This was such a cute, fun read! This was my first Jennifer Bonds book and I will certainly be adding more to my list. I really enjoyed watching Pippa and Henry’s relationship develop. It was a quick read, full of good humor and silly situations. If you’re looking for a sweet, clever rom-com, this is the book for you!
A Royal Bachelorette?? YES, PLEASE. I loved the whole series, but I think Pippa's story is my favorite of the three. The tabloid articles between chapters are *chef's kiss*.
I greatly enjoyed this funny, sweet with some heat story. The characters were great, and the plot engaging. Overall, a book that was lighthearted and enjoyable. *I received an ARC from Netgalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I am a huge fan of royalty romance and this book is a light and entertaining read that offers a glimpse into the world of royalty, but it fell short of my expectations in some areas.
On the positive side, Bonds captures the glamour and intrigue of royal life with vivid descriptions and charming characters. The setting feels enchanting, and fans of royal romance will appreciate the fairy tale-like atmosphere.
However, I found the plot to be somewhat predictable, following familiar tropes without offering much in the way of originality. The romance unfolds in a fairly formulaic manner, ie princess is forced onto a dating show but wants nothing to do with it but somehow fate intervenes and she meets Mr Right I received an arc of this book via netgalley in exchange for an honest review Additionally, while the characters are likeable enough, they feel somewhat one-dimensional, relying on stereotypes rather than genuine development to drive the story forward. I found myself wishing for more nuance and depth in their interactions and relationships.
Overall, "A Royal Mistake" is a pleasant enough read for fans of royal romance, but it falls short of being truly memorable. I will say readers looking for a light and breezy escape into the world of royalty may still find it to be an enjoyable diversion.
You have gotta love an independent female lead am I right or am I right. This story follows Pippa as she navigates the expectations her family has for her as a princess and her own passions in life. But of course there is always love in the mix. I am a sucker for a good love story and A Royal Mistake delivered. The story shifted from Pippa’s point of view to her “not suitor” suitor Henry’s point of view without explicitly labeling each section which I actually really enjoyed. Th transitions seemed effortless and the story flowed very well. Pippa’s character was so easy to love as she is navigating so many real conflicts women today face (minus the whole royalty part), we see a young woman having to work hard for her own dreams come true. Henry’s character was honestly the perfect mix of brooding and caring. He is the perfect example of how a man should approach a relationship with a strong female partner. Take all of this, add in a spicy mentor turned lover relationship that has a slow burn build up and literally nothing can go wrong. I found my self laughing, smiling, and loving along with these characters. Very well done!
While I loved the first two books in this series I think this one was my favorite. Pippa is trying so hard to be taken seriously and her family still treats her as the child she was. Henry is the unexpected friend and ally who sees her as she is. He sees her even more clearly than she does herself even as he hides himself from her. I loved how their dynamic changes from their first meeting to throughout the book.
