Sarah writes books that crack open the dark corners of the heart—and then light a match. A former salon owner turned full-time author, she walked away from her old life with nothing but a story she couldn’t ignore and a fire in her chest that refused to die. Her books are cinematic, obsessive, emotionally twisted, and laced with tension that will make you scream into your pillow.

She’s drawn to morally gray men, bratty heroines, and the kind of love that wrecks you before it saves you. You’ll find her writing late at night, pouring everything she’s survived into characters that don’t flinch.

When she’s not writing, she's chasing wild dreams, or trying to make sense of the messages the universe won’t stop sending. She believes in shocking plot twists, and the kind of endings you feel in your bones.

I am not sure how this book scored a 5. iIf I could score a negative number, I would. It was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The storyline has so many inconsistencies and lacked continuity. I had to go back and reread sections to see if I missed something, which I didn’t. It was just a hot mess.

I wanted to love it. I really did. But it didn't make a lot of sense. Broken story lines, details that never line up. A whole plot-point that was never explained and a hacker who should have had the sense to hunt his boss down when he disappeared. The mysterious woman who was explained, but awkwardly. Most of the book was spent repeating over and over like a student trying to make an essay long enough. The end felt rushed after all that foreplay. Points for feeding enough mystery to make me finish it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Could have been a shorter book, it dragged unnecessarily.

3.75 Hear me out.

Sarah is a great writer. I love how she really paints a picture for you with her wording. I loved Midnights so much. It really transported me to another time and place.

I’m going to start off what I wasn’t so fond of with this book. I feel like a lot of the scenes with Ani and Steven could have been edited down. It got really repetitive so I wish it had been condensed just a bit that’s where I was starting to get lost/bored. I wish it had been less of them yelling and fucking each other and maybe more of Ani having flashbacks and helping us piece together her memories as the story progressed.

The pieces really come together and shit really hits the fan at about 75% and that’s where the story grabbed me. I loved the story line and how the pieces came together. I really loved the chaos of the last part of the book. Thank you for not hurting the dog in this book I absolutely despise that shit. She was my favorite.

I bought this book because its based on one of my favourite tiktokkers and i thought why not?. However ... I did not realise what i let my self in for , there is passion, possessiveness , obsession, traitors, twists and turns, love and so much more! I was hooked from the start and have now ordered midnights to read too. This book is a 5 star for me ❤️

This book has had me in a chokehold since I first saw that you were writing it and started dropping teasers. And the book did not disappoint one bit. Had me on the edge (literally & figuratively) the whole book. The plot was amazing had me guessing until the end. And the spice mhmm yessss 10/10

terrible. readers must just like the spicy

Honestly just terrible all around. The writing and story was inconsistent. Ani’s lack of self preservation is infuriating. The spicy scenes are top tier but that doesn’t make up for the terrible story. Would not recommend.

Holy freaking airball!!!! I was lucky enough to receive this as an arc. If you want a dark romance that has banter, has plot, a strong female main character, a fun supportive best friend and has you questioning everyone and everything this is a book for you. You go on an emotional rollercoaster with this dark romance, and it is dark so check those triggers. You will be questioning who is really the BAD bad guy and who is the morally grey sexy bad guy. I was on the edge of my seat holding my breath wondering who to trust and what would happen throughout the book. I cried, I laughed, I chewed on the inside of my lip with worry (seriously I gave myself a blister from it) and I even wanted to read some of this one handed (if you know what I mean 😉😉)

Sarah- girl you knocked it out of the park once again! I loved this book (just as much if not more than Midnights) and I am grateful you let me be on your arc team. You deserve to be a NY bestselling author! And I hope you accomplish that girl. 💜💜

The spice scenes were 🤌🏻 which is why I gave this 4 stars. However, and I say this with noting but love because I love TikTok real life couple this book is based on, but the writing could use a little work. There was a lot of repetitiveness with the terms ruin & wrecked, smells that aren’t a scent (regret, violence, etc.) and cliche statements. Not that these things are all that bad but overused in this book IMO. There was also some inconsistency issues that I had to try hard to ignore (like a reference to something that literally never happened in the book to the point where I went back and tried to find what part I accidentally skipped but nothing was there). Continuity errors too that just didn’t make any sense (example-she was on her knees and there was “wetness” that ran down to her ankle 🤔).

And this…..Spoiler alert….

We never even find out who the unknown caller is?? Steven said he’d tell her tomorrow, she demands he tell her right away and then says he doesn’t know but has his guy looking into it, guessed who it is and then it’s never mentioned again!

DNF. I really wanted to like this book after seeing the woman who the story was loosely based off promoting the book on TikTok. And while I can see the author has talent, I feel like there's a lot of repetition and over explanation of character descriptions.

I was always taught to describe appearances once or twice and let readers picture the characters in their minds. "He's all dark gaze, broad shoulders and carved from trouble energy wrapped in bad decisions" is just an example of over explanation. Because in the previous chapter, he was also described as "having a jaw-line that is a crime scene."

I think the book could do with a good edit and it would be really good. I feel like trimming the repetition and over explanation could solve the problem here.

ARC review,

if you want a book to take you on a full Rollercoaster ride if emotions look no further. I laughed, cried, yelled, and got hot and bothered. picking up another book after this just isn't possible at this point. this book will forever live rent free in my head and will be one I recommend to everyone. 🧡

fantastic job Sarah! you are definitely one of my favorite authors. you make it so descriptive that it's like a movie playing in your mind while you read. thank you writing another amazing book!

I really wanted to like this I really did. This book had so much potential to tell a really good story but unfortunately it missed the editors room so a lot of details didn’t make sense. For example; one minute the FMC is typing on her phone but then very next scene the MMC is talking about how he stole it? And theirs also an entire chapter about how he’s the one sending her cryptic messages but then near the end he finds her phone and is mad that someone is sending her said messages? So yeah, didn’t make a lot of sense unfortunately.

I'm really conflicted writing this review because there are some things about it that I really liked but some of those things were over done to the point I didn't like them anymore. I like Sarah and Ani so that too makes me a bit conflicted.

Here is my honest review all of that aside. I can't believe I am about to consider too much detail as a problem but it was and to drive that point home the word "like" was used 2,548 times in 698 pages (kindle).

"Like a" - 410 times
"Like I" - 692 times
"Like he" - 350 times
"Like she" - 140 times

I think you get the point.

Have you ever watched Dawson Creek and hated how the characters talked like no one ever. The writing was a bunch of kids talking to each other like they were writing an essay. At first I really liked it but after 2 seasons, I was like okay we get it. That's how I felt about this book, and not just in dialogue. It tended to follow one of the very many likes.

I agree that there were some inconsistencies but the book was so long and wordy that it became hard to follow either way. The story itself was interesting though. It didn't need so many extended metaphors. They were half the time witty, a bit cynical, and like I said too much too often.

Ani's view of Frank in my opinion is delusional from the start. "Frank is a really nice guy." On what page? He was creepy from the first conversation and not "nice" at all. No wonder she has guy issues.

Steven sounded like Frank as a character if I'm being honest. I know she saw both men in person so they clearly weren't but had she not I'd question if they were. So that isn't great as a love interest. Not a whole lot of either one's behavior set them apart except for the fact Ani was hooking up with Steven. They both were high handed and spoke for Ani while speaking to her, not hot from either.

The hook ups were hot for the most part but Dom/Brat Sub is my jam so no real surprise there. Ani the character is too bratty though and Steven just comes off cold and detached. I would have liked to see some more genuine care for her. I would have also liked less of the extra in those scenes because I didn't get turned on once because I kept getting pulled out of the heat with all the extra.

Ani is a mess which I guess makes sense but she has zero self preservation for a majority of the book it's hard to root for her as the FMC because you want to hold her hand and say "look b you need to wake the f up and take control of your life, stop letting things happen to you, make them happen for you. And be a better friend to Sarah."This is bad because she is our main character so we need to want to root for her but she doesn't inspire that because she is between delusional and stumbling her way through just letting these men move her around.

Ani is real life comes off bad ass and but character Ani not so much and that was hard for me.

If I were to put stars I would say 3. For me that says there was enough I like to finish but I would not reread.

I have to step back and pause on this one, not sure that I’ll come back to it. I got a tiny bit past 50% but I’m just, conflicted. I want to like this book, the author is extremely talented and I will probably try other books by them, but I’ve just got to stop reading this mammoth of a story.

There is so much spice, like I’m talking so. much. spice. And it’s well written spice, but is that the plot? It’s fine if it is, but I need more, I’m so curious about what is going on and every little bit of plot outside of spice drove me to carry on reading but, I kind of can’t believe I’m typing this, there is dare I say too much spice, at least so much that it keeps pulling me out of the story because I’m just like, “and they’re having sex again. . .”

Maybe I’ll pop back into the story later now that I’m halfway through, but I’m definitely taking a pause for now, because life is too short to force yourself to finish books.

The writing is super good though and I honestly am curious to see what else the author does in the future, I think they’ve got a career ahead of them, they’ve certainly got the talent.

This book is actually more than 5 stars for me. From the narrators to the gravitational pull I felt while reading it. There were times where I was laughing at how “bratty” our gorgeous fmc is, to times where I was actually screaming. I couldn’t put this book away. The strength and determination our fmc exhibits is truly remarkable. She might be little but she’s a tornado of fire that will burn you to ash. Let’s not forget our beloved mmc who shows her things she’s only dreamed about. He is the epitome of book boyfriends, but there is nothing boy about him. And just when you think things couldn’t go more sideways what plot twist with side characters.

Sarah is an amazing writer and can’t wait to read more from her. We all love the amazing voice of Anthony Palmini but let’s give praise to our talented new voice artist Ani. Girl rocks it so much you can even envision every detail.

His to Erase by Sarah J. Poulsen completely captivated me from the very first chapter. The emotional depth, unforgettable characters, and perfectly balanced mix of romance, tension, and heartbreak made it impossible to put down. The chemistry between the main characters felt authentic, and every twist kept me invested in their journey. Sarah J. Poulsen has a beautiful writing style that draws you into the story and makes you feel every emotion right alongside the characters. If you love emotional romance with compelling characters and a satisfying payoff, this book is an absolute must-read. I can't wait to read more from this author!

This book was a tough read. There are so many repetitive lines I couldn’t roll my eyes hard enough. Squeezing her thighs together constantly, every wave of heat pooling, “love that for me?” And cedar and smoke/leather/something dark - ugh!!
Ani was too snarky for too long, it got tiresome to read. Sarah was just an excuse to use all the jokes thought up in the shower but would never say irl. Steve went too far into stalker zone and gave me the ick early on which made his side of the story hard to stomach.
There are plenty of other books out there, don’t waste your time on this one.

This book was such a difficult read, I think it put me back in a slump. Saw the girl it’s about blasting it on TikTok and I thought might as well be fun to read…boy was I wrong. The dialogue sounds straight out of ChatGPT like what the hell are these cringey conversations and why is the plot dragging on for so long like get to it 😭😭. The amount of times the words “emotionally” and “emotions” were mentioned was so excessive like can we please use a thesaurus, if I ever see those words again I think I might as well scream. This book made me miss the Wattpad era.

Okay so this book wasn’t my cup of tea. I was dragged out without any real answers. A lot of “ I don’t like him” then still going out with him(frank), a lot of hating Steven but then loving him. It’s back and forth with no real answers of what is actually happening. I feel it could have been compacted and more flashbacks or actual answers of what is going on it would have been more attention grabbing for me. I would still recommend someone to read it for themselves cause everyone is different, it just didn’t do it for me.

I wanted to like this book so bad! But I had to DNF at 40%. I was so excited seeing one of my favorite influencers announce and promote it
But ohmygoooodddd. The writing was so clunky and inconsistent. The same words were used for the description of every male character. I counted, "And yet...." being written at least six times.
And the writing was confusing, i had to go back and re-read certain parts to make sure I was following correctly. Im so sad. I was so excited to get this book and now im sad I spent money on it lol

I LOVEDDDDDD this book. I don't review often but this one I needed too.

The storyline was great, little bit of a plot hole but other then that no notes. I freaking loved this book and the characters. Ani is probably my favorite. Her and Sarah's friendship reminds me so much of my friend's and I's friendship in so many ways.

Definitely took some notes for later😏.

I listened to the audiobook and the cast was amazing. Ani did so amazingly as a first time narrator. All in all 10/10 read. 10/10 spice. Will read again in probably 3 months, it's my comfort book now ❤️🥰
