As Jastus continues the search for his twin, he and Neri welcome Jasmien's mate into their pod. Duken is heartsick over his missing mate and ashamed of what he sees as a betrayal of her trust. Meanwhile, Jasmien and Sabien work to escape captivity above Planet Larbo. A new bond is forming in Jasmien's heart. Will she choose to stay with Duken, or will Sabien replace him as her mate?
A Vision So Dire
Princess Jenulia Jermyn's latest vision may be the most horrific yet. It is now imperative that the Kalitian Zaiden Dukas become her consort. Jenulia is unsure, though, about how best to approach the handsome archeologist that she is beginning to fall for.
Plans Are Set
As the Ocelo approaches Planet Bendo, Devon Cannali finalizes his plans to abduct Princess Jenulia. She will bear his young. He will be the father of the next king or queen of Dekka, and no one will stand in his way, especially not her protector, Commander Magnus Veleton.
L.D. McRae lives in the Great Lakes Region of the United States with her husband, seven or eight dogs depending on the day, three cats, and twenty-plus chickens. When not working on the next novel, she can usually be found playing with her grandkids, working on craft projects, studying genealogy, or reading a steamy romance novel. Writing a novel had always been something she wanted to do, and when her daughter M.R. McRae published her first book, Blood From Diamond, L.D. found her inspiration and stepped outside her comfort zone. L.D. has a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and spent many years working in the field before transitioning to other endeavors, including coaching junior varsity volleyball at her alumni high school. L.D. currently has all seven books completed in the Assentia Series, and two books completed in the Assentia Captives Series.
Current books in L.D.’s Assentia Series: (In reading order) The Blood of Sin The Perils of Sin The Redemption of Sin The Triumph of Sin The Fate of Sin The Savior of Sin The Destiny of Sin
Current books in L.D.’s Assentia Series: (In reading order) Veiled Visions Desire Unleashed Warrior Hearts Echoes of Shadow and Smoke
Warrior Hearts, book 3 in the Assentia Captives series, continues where book 2, Desire Unleashed leaves off. if you like adventure and romance, this is for you!
I like a number of things about this series. The author is an excellent writer, and has created a world with multiple characters with distinct personalities. The plot and subplots are complicated and interesting. The world building is phenomenal.
In this book, we're following a number of couples who find passion...and oh boy is L.D. McRae adept at writing passion!!
There's Rebel and Tor, different species who find an interesting love life with each other.
There's Princess Jenulia, whose murderous consort, Devon Cannali only wants her for her political status. She has visions of the future that always come true, one of which involve the Kalirian archeologist Zaiden (and his home planet) who in spite of the fact that he doesn't think he's nearly worthy of her, is destined to be her sole consort.
There's Jastus, who has been searching for his missing twin sister, Jasmien, and his new love Neri.
There's Magnus who has a very interesting dominant relationship with General Phoenix.
And then there are my two favorite couples in this series: Jasmien, her Aditas mate Duken, and the alien species she helped rescue, Sabi.
Jasmien helped rescue Sabien / Sabi from the Toridians and gets him to his home planet Larbo. Sabi is happy to be home with Jasmien who he thinks of as his mate. The problem is, they are being hunted. And, even though Jastus and Duken are coming to rescue Jasmien, nobody has told Sabi about Duken, or Duken and Sabi, or that she loves them both. (Without giving spoilers away, this makes rescue problematical)
My final two favorite characters are
Bram, of the Deki race, who due to his cultural taboos and his own negative self image, isn't at all sure about how he feels or should feel about the male, (and the sometimes meta shifted) Reaper. It only complicates matters when a PTSD afflicted Reaper is forced to go back to Tippenahboe to face who he saw and what happened there. Bram decides to go with him to protect him, but the only way he's allowed to go is as Reaper's mate. The evil doctor Tamala, in the meantime, is willing to do anything, even endanger Bram and Reaper's lives to get the information she wants to get about the planet, and the mysterious cloaked figure who was there on Tippenahboe, and who shows up again to Reaper, telling him not to reveal what he saw.
And finally, Ms. McRae is adept at showing us a possible future; that interspecies love is not only possible, but gloriously possible. As Reaper says: broaden your views and your will see. Love is love.
