Read the ghoulish 12th book in the Secret Agent Granny mystery series just in time for Halloween.
Once a spy, always a spy? Barbara Gold may be retired, but her mind still thinks like the surveillance officer she was for her long career. Only this time, it starts with setting up a spooky display for a town Halloween event, not a crime. However when a body interrupts her mundane volunteer work, nerves of steel take over and she throws herself into figuring out what is happening in her town. Regardless of your Halloween enthusiasm or lack thereof, this book will have you questioning what is real... Unrushed spookiness seeps into Barbara's life, and the author keeps us on edge as the story is revealed. Perfect for the Halloween season!
I know I say this all the time, but I can’t stop…..Harper Lin is a fun author and if you’re not reading her when you need a quick escape, you are missing out. Her books are perfect for a beach read.
This is #12 in a series about a retired FBI agent [please note, you don’t have to read the other 11 to read this, but you’ll have more fun if you do], Barbara Gold. When she retired she moved to Cheerville to be near her son and his family.
In this book, Cheerville is planning the Halloween celebrations and the ghost tour. What no one expected was there would be a murder with the investigation centered around the Ghost Walk. The suspects are hunted by Barbara and her two friends, Liz and Octavian (you have to read this to see how they are Barbara’s friends).
Give this series a whirl and let me know what you think.
Cheerville is preparing for Halloween when Barbara Gold finds a body in an old house used as a prop for the ghost of the “old widow”. As she investigates, she finds old town secrets and smugglers with spy skills as honed as hers.
These are great, quick reads. This one ended a little abruptly. With answering a few questions. And I missed her usual fun times with her grandson.
Isn't Granny a good character or what? She is active in the community as Halloween is approaching. The first ghost walk is going to be a fun activity. As she and her friend help get the plans in place they discover a dead body. Let the investigation begin! This case becomes rather complicated as they follow the clues. This was a good case for her. Was a good story.
I gave this four stars because it wasn’t one of her best books. It still Stared Barbara Gold, but was less exciting than some of her other ones. Including Liz, in it was nice touch. I guess I expect just a little bit more. And we’ve seen that in some of the other books. . But it was still a nice little cozy. I read it in a night.
