Eva Le Gallienne (1899-1991) was a British-born American stage actress, producer, director, translator, and author. A Broadway star by age 21, in 1926 she left Broadway behind to found the Civic Repertory Theatre.
The first of Eva Le Gallienne's two autobiographies. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about all of her theatrical adventures, and I also am equal parts admiring and amused that she completely refused to write about her personal life and barely mentioned her very high-profile accident (she almost died in a natural gas explosion a year or two before the book came out).
