One curvy law student. Four gorgeous hockey players. Zero chance at keeping things simple.
Mia Abbott is in her final year of law school, laser-focused on graduation and landing the internship of her dreams. When she moves in with her lifelong best friend Casey and his boyfriend Owen—plus two of their hockey teammates, Waylon and Luca—she expects late-night study sessions, takeout-fueled chaos, and maybe the occasional shirtless distraction.
She doesn’t expect feelings.
What begins as friendship quickly spirals into something deeper as tension simmers between shared glances, lingering touches, and the kind of trust Mia’s never experienced before. Each of the guys brings something different to her life—and her heart—and trying to choose between them? Impossible.
But love doesn’t always play fair. And when boundaries blur and hearts get involved, Mia will have to decide if she’s brave enough to embrace a love that defies the rules.
Because sometimes, happily ever after doesn’t look the way you planned, and life has a way of becoming…Pucking Tangled.
Aubree Valentine began her book world career back in 2016 as a virtual assistant for a friend/fellow author and as a book blogger. But, she began writing stories long before that.
After carefully learning the ins and outs of the Indie book business, Aubree finally decided to give publishing a try for herself - with a whole lot of encouragement from the friends and mentors she met along the way.
Her first book, Take Back My Heart, was released in the fall of 2016, with its follow-up - Come Back to Me launching a year later. They were quickly followed by her breakout novel, Hot Cop, part of the Too Hot to Handle Series.
Aubree has a degree in sarcasm and resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two children and several furbabies. She enjoys reading, chasing after her twins (or trying to keep them out of trouble), cuddling with her husband, and coming up with new project ideas that often involve power tools. She's usually always online via Facebook or Instagram @authoraubreevalentine or Tik Tok @aubreewritesromance .
I should probably give this 4 stars because I honestly hated the writing style but the story was great. It could have used more detail because honestly we all want more 🌶️ then story. I’m glad I kept reading because I was seconds away from DMF this book just from the writing.
This reverse harem book setting is contemporary not paranormal or a world like here but slightly different. One girl and four guys. Realistic-ish background history; proximity pushed the bantering friendships into a sexual relationship. The fallout from their story breaking (alternative lifestyle) was kinda of the beginning of the end of my enjoyment of this book and the last 10% just gave me rage. So technically could be 3 stars but a few things went beyond annoyance, hence 2. The more I think about it, the more I have a bitter taste in my mouth. Also I don't recall Waylon's nationality mentioned at the start of the book or maybe I skipped over it. And did we ever find out who leaked their lifestyle to the press and why? Again by that point was skimming. Post review, quickly went back to the beginning to see if I could double check a couple of things and saw that it had started out irritating. The constant name checking books Luca was reading as if to portray him as this deep thinker almost had me DNF before she'd moved into the house! Also why did she act surprised and hurt when Luca mentioned that Casey and Owen had shared women before, when she had as part of her rambling overview of the guys strengths and weaknesses referenced that. Continuity errors. I don't want to think any more about Mia or the guys or I will go all Soup Nazi and it will be no stars for you.

I don’t think I’ve been this disappointed in a book in months. I am a fan of why choose and hardly think “were there too many main characters?” However, Ms. Valentine, here we are. There was next to no backstory, which is fine when you clearly explain who everyone is and who they are to each other. About three quarters of the way through the book Casey gets called Chase which I fear should have been caught in the prepublishing phase. I understand what we were going for in theory with “Mia doesn’t think she is desirable because her ex thought she was too fat” but I feel like it was kind of lazy in execution. What threw me off the most was the end, casually slipping in what likely should have been a plot point throughout the book of Waylon not being from the US? I can’t in good faith recommend this book to anyone, for any reason. There are countless why choose hockey romances that feel much more thought out and interesting to spend time with a book it feels like even the editors didn’t read.
The story was interesting. The sexual chemistry was unable to be denied now that Mia and Casey lived in the same house. Waylon was abrasive at first. Later he showed a softer caring side. I wish the author had mentioned him being from another country. Then the reason he was chosen as husband would have made better sense. We were left hanging not knowing the beginning of his story. Luca really matured as a man. It was good to see most of the parents supporting their children. We never figured out who started the smear campaign on social media. The story was not perfect. That's okay, none of us are perfect either. The story still tugged heartstrings.
I like the emotional feel this book gave and the approach to how everyone in the relationship feels. I love a good why choose but I feel sometimes you don’t get the real rawness of it coming together just that everyone is all happy and agree. Which I am still a fan of don’t get me wrong. But I enjoyed seeing them all struggle and then coming together to work it out and find there places with each other. It was a cute book
- I HATED the beginning of their relationship. How they all thought it was a game besides Luca and sometimes Owen. Casey and Waylon treated it as a fucking game. Like grow up 🙄
- The guys hockey team company offering MIA a job…. That’s just going to cause more problems for her. But do you I guess 😬

I love RH. I love hockey. I liked the individual relationship building, but for an open door rh there was too much past emotional baggage. They decided to be together and said I love you and then thought about their families thoughts and just too many feelings for this kind of read.
Story 4⭐️ Spice 3.5🌶️ I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Yes they went from 0 to 100 very fast, but like in a sweet way. There were grammatical errors, but they didn’t take away too much from the story. I would read this author again.
It’s like a fine wine, hints of complicated, robust loyalty, complex admiration, full bodied love and respect … a perfect combination of supportive and found family. 😘🥂
