He's got the knowledge. He's got the money. He's even got the equipment. Now about those permits...

Zack turns to his old friend, Father Salvatore Giovanni, curator of the Chicago Museum of Biblical Antiquities to back his expedition. He says yes, with one condition... Researcher Sydney Langtry is coming with him to protect the museum's interests.

Plunged together into an icy world of death and darkness, Zack and Sydney make a discovery that will rock the Biblical and archaeological community. But will they make it out alive to share their discovery?

When an extreme weather condition causes parts of the Greenland ice sheet to melt, archeologist Zack Cole is determined to join the race of professionals and amateur alike, to find uncovered history and treasure.

Patterson has used this scenario to create the spiritual themes and mythology of this village. Based on Norse mythology, it is one colorful account and interestingly that Zac and Sydney find many elements of this in the subterranean world and this just adds to the mystery and suspense of this novel. I thought it very clever how Patterson has also added Christian/biblical themes to this mythology without compromising the Biblical account or that of any biblical doctrine or its books, namely that of Revelation and Isaiah. This is where Patterson shines.

Strongly Recommended.

'The Codex' is a fantastic blend of history, mystery, & action. Daniel Patterson, again, has chosen a historical path that is unique. I loved the locale & it's cultural history. Zack plays the flawed hero wonderfully while his novice sidekick keeps him grounded. Sydney is a tough cookie with a lot of heart, a lot of faith in God, & a quick wit. At times, they make reckless choices but, in the excitement of the discovery, it's almost expected.

It isn't an incredibly long read, but it's full of action. All the historical references fit into the plot without feeling forced or boring. It added a nice element through the plot. I'm hopeful that Daniel Patterson will give us another in this series very soon. If he keeps writing 5 star novels like this, then I will remain a huge fan of his work.

Christian Fiction - not dull, preachy or boring!

This is my first Christian fiction. It was actually very good. I'm definitely going to reach the next book, The Devil's Game. One of the characters said prayers every so often but other than that, it was a somewhat "normal" thriller. Glad I read it.

Nice read

Nice little Indiana Jonesish story. Just like the original lots of it is implausible, bus somehow works in this kind of story. Not to give anything away, but the ending had me screaming "what"? at midnight.

I had never read Daniel Patterson's work prior to The Codex. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a second book to give to a friend. The beautiful location details puts you right there "in the room" and I loved the adventure the characters went through in order to uncover the treasure.

Great quick read

The Tyndale Bible wasn't the greatest novel but this adventure was great... A couple things were not answered but the findings the characters found were pretty cool...

Wonderful book. I would love to see this series expanded. Catches you from the beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat to the last page. Very well researched and great developed.
