He speaks in violence and silence. She learned sign language just to tell him how much she hates him.

Ten years ago, Dante Rosetti lost his voice the same night Ana Moretti lost everything. Now Chicago's silent enforcer commands fear with hands that sign death orders as easily as love songs—not that anyone's ever seen the latter. He doesn't need words to make grown men beg. He doesn't need a voice to break bones for the family empire.

He just needs his bride to stop trying to kill him long enough to fall in love with him.

Ana has spent a decade preparing to marry and murder the mute monster who destroyed her family. She learned ASL for one to make sure he understands exactly why she's going to kill him. But when she tries to strike during their wedding ceremony, he doesn't punish her—he corrects her knife grip. When she attempts poison, he leaves her a note about wearing gloves next time. He's either the most arrogant man in Chicago, or he has a death wish.

Or maybe he just likes the way his bride looks when she's plotting his demise.
In a world where silence speaks louder than screams, Ana and Dante circle each other in a deadly dance of sign language threats and midnight piano confessions. Every assassination attempt brings them closer to something neither expected—the truth.

A dark arranged marriage mafia romance featuring a mute/silent hero, virgin heroine seeking revenge, dual POV, and enough sexual tension to burn Chicago down. Complete standalone with HEA.

Arranged marriage • Mute hero • Virgin heroine • Enemies to lovers • Revenge plot • He falls first • Touch her and die

First book by this author.
I really loved the writing style, very poetic, very lyrical despite a lot of repetition (I stopped counting the number of time the words “phantom pain” is written)
The whole love story happened with 2 weeks so hard to sell it as a true enemies to lovers.
Ana has been convinced Dante is the enemy and trained for 10 years to kill him!!! Just to fail miserably!!

Their arousal were basically a third MC at this point… the number of time his 🍆 or her 💦 is mentioned was ridiculous, however spice was rather low or not as consuming as you would expect (she hold it for 10 days before jumping his bones 🤣)

✅enemies to lovers
✅arranged marriage
✅V heroine
✅kidnapping

It could have been good .
But it was sooooo repetitive.
There was so much throbbing, so much clenching, so much phantom pain and muscle memory that it got annoying real fast .
I really tried to push through but I could not . So I DNF after 50%.

15% of the way in and Luca inherited blue eyes from their mother but Alessandro inherent green eyes from their mother. Maybe, Luca’s eyes are passed down through the mothers side of the family, but that’s not exactly what was written. Do we need an editor already?

Also, another review said there’s a lot of reference to his pain. So much so that it’s really repetitive and annoying. Well, I’m here to confirm that it’s written a lot. 3 times in the first 39 pages. I’m going to keep count for funsyies. ETA: it really wasn’t mentioned much after the first 40 or 50 pages. Maybe once or twice for the whole rest of the book.

So yeah this needs an editor stat. She was going over inheritance paperwork at the dining table then she approaches Dante in his study and says just days ago he helped her review the inheritance paperwork on his desk. So unless he has a dining table for a desk (highly unlikely) this is all wrong.

She says that the ring has a familiar weight after 8 days of being Mrs Rossetti, but it’s been 15 days. She was married for 7 nights before waking to the sound of music playing on the piano and has listened for 8 days. 7 plus 8 = 15. Though it’s like even the author loses count of the days because the author tries to make it seem as though he’s been playing since night one when no where in the story prior to this point does it allude to that.

Why are the shopping bags scattered on the sidewalk if neither she nor Maria were touched in the three seconds it took Dante to disarm the three men? Also, why does it say it took him three seconds to disarm them and then it shows them being disarmed? The order is wrong, show the fight then comment that it was only three seconds. Though three seconds is really unbelievable…

He says Luca is the only one who would dare enter his room without knocking and yet Marco did it when Guisepi got shot.

She says her hands shake from fighting the urge to cross the room to Dante. Then Dante moved to the Detroit prisoner, but according to her he moves from her side. So which is it? Is he across the room or at your side?

Luca was in the room when he got the news of Ana’s kidnapping. He even spoke, saying that Dante is scaring Nico. So how is he then just walking into the room a few pages later? He never left. Or at least the author never told us he did.

The Detroit prisoners says their going to capture Anna, pass her around to all the Detroit men who hold a grudge so that she’s brutally raped. Yet when she’s captured by Detroit she’s suddenly put up for auction because there are just so many enemies who hated her father. Clearly the author didn’t remember what she wrote her or she would have at least told the reader why the change of plans.

This book is riddled with inconsistencies. An editor would improve this by leaps and bounds.

There are so many plot holes. They have family dinner every week yet not once for the whole first month do we ever see anyone interact with her except the housekeeper Maria.

Then she learned sign language before marriage. Dante is so happy with this since his own family never really learned. Yet at the end she has to learn more signs to share her pregnancy news. How’s her lack of sign language knowledge any different from his siblings. And also what kind of jerk family does he come from that they wouldn’t do a better job of really learning how to communicate with their own brother?

She’s 23. Why now is she sent to America to marry Dante? And who sent her? She literally communicates with no one after joining Dante and his family. If she had no one and nothing then what compelled her to marry him? She could have just walked up to him on the street and stabbed him for all the sense this lack of info is making.

And then we never find out why her father and uncle were murdered or who tortured Dante.

The book was a good read from a new author but plagued with errors and inconsistencies. I might read book 2 to see if the authors writing improves because clearly she’s got a lot of potential. This isn’t an error ridden book that has me rolling my eyes and shouting “where’s the editor,” it’s an error written book that kept me going “ugh, this could have been so good if only…”

If I don’t continue the series, this is definitely an author I’d like to stumble upon a few years from now when they’ve honed their craft and paid an editor to proof read.

4 ⭐️

Actually really enjoyed this one! It’s a quick read, but that just meant no unnecessary fluff …. straight into the chaos, which I loved. Ana was such a badass, her entire life built around one word: vengeance. And then there’s Dante … strong, silent, completely devoted. The man almost gets stabbed at his own wedding and instead of being mad, he corrects her grip like “here’s how to do it better next time.” Excuse me?? Swoon. I was gone for him after that.

I also loved Dante’s brothers, especially Luca - definitely need more of him in my life.

If I had one gripe, it’s that I wish we got a little more of Ana and Dante’s backstory. Their connection was intense but I wanted to dig deeper into what made them who they are, beyond that single tragic night. Still, this was a dark, fast-paced, addictive read that totally delivered.

wow just wow

I’m so impressed, its been so long I took time to write review, but this book just perfect, all the emotions are portrayed perfectly, fmc’s frustration, mmc’s amusement in fmc attempt to unalive him, the story, the world building are really well executed. I love have author portrayed FMC as strong at the same time soft, assassin at the same time innocent, I can’t wait for next book, every person in family is very interesting. I hope author writes next book fast.

I honestly wanted to enjoy this book, the premise of a mute mafia enforcer and an arranged marriage with an enemy. Yeah I wanted to love it but unfortunately the writing was choppy and like broken English in parts. There was jumps without breakers in chapters or even paragraphs and some areas where I would brings at the writing. Great idea but I just wish it was executed better.
Also I kind of hate the whole wow I’m pregnant trope at the end of books.

Ruthless Silence by Pia Sinclair is a dark, intoxicating revenge romance that grips you from the opening pages and keeps you hooked throughout its steady unraveling of secrets, lies, and long-buried truths. With a compelling plot and an undeniably addictive flow, this book offers a promising blend of suspense, chemistry, and emotional depth.
Ana Moretti has spent the last decade living with the belief that Dante Rosetti, the man she’s about to marry, played a role in the brutal betrayal that stole her family from her. Her wedding day isn’t the start of a life together; it’s the perfect stage for her vengeance. She has trained for this moment, knife in hand and a resolve carved deep into her bones. What she isn’t prepared for is Dante’s constant, unnervingly calm readiness. Every time she makes her move, he’s already anticipated it.
Yet the story doesn’t just revolve around revenge. The chemistry between Ana and Dante is scorching, the kind of tension that leaps off the page. Dante is silent, voiceless, not deaf…and while Ana’s decision to learn sign language adds an interesting layer, it becomes confusing at times. Because Dante can hear her perfectly, the necessity of signing to communicate with him doesn’t quite make sense within the logic of the world. It's a small detail, but one that pulled me out of the moment more than once. What also hampers the reading experience is the repetition. Certain words, phrases, and even scene beats appear so frequently that it becomes distracting, diluting the impact of some otherwise powerful moments. The plot itself is strong, and the pacing flows well, but the repeated language feels like an anchor holding the story back from reaching its full potential. Despite this, Sinclair shines in many areas. Her prose has a poetic quality, her emotional descriptions are vivid, and her characters, especially the Rosetti siblings, are well-crafted and surprisingly endearing. As Ana becomes entangled with Dante’s world, she finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew. The truth, when it finally hits, is startling and forces her to confront not just Dante’s role in her past, but the entire foundation of her beliefs. Can Ana forgive the revelations that shatter her understanding of her family’s fate? Or will the truth be the final blow that drives her away forever?
For a first read from this author, I was genuinely impressed by the raw potential, the plot’s intensity, and the emotional undercurrent running throughout. With a strong developmental edit and attention to grammar and repetition, Ruthless Silence could have been exceptional. Even so, if you're willing to look past the “exhausting” repeated words, you’ll find a gripping story worth diving into, one filled with heat, betrayal, and a twisted path to the truth.

Biggest pet peeve in this book is maybe one that can be over looked, Im dont have a disability or know anyone with mutism so many Im wrong, but this guy is mute, not deaf!! Why not just speak to him!? His ears work, ok he has to sign to speak to you, but speak to him! Everyone else does
I found the writing so repetitive! Anyone else who read this, did you know shes exhausted?? Cause she tells you every flipping paragraph! "Im so tired" Her exhausted brains not working, her limbs are like lead weights.. jesus woman, you spent a year preparing, clearly time wasted.. useless.

Also who edited this!?
Where they drinking? I wish I had the physical book so that I could highlight the bits that were just ... wrong... example, he has her pinned to the desk by her wrists... the man is mute and signs to speak, but "speaks" to her! how?? his f*ing hands were a tad busy... 😳
Example, on page 123 she said "whispering something in Italian I cant catch" mmmm still dont think he can speak, whole premise of the book, no? Example she goes shopping, an altercation happens, she talks about her dress.. 2 paragraphs later, shes talking about her dress again, only its a different bloody dress..
She speaks Italian, the maid speaks Italian, the brothers speak Italian, why cant she communicate with them!?
If you can over look the fact that there are glaring plot holes and inconsistencies, this is a basic cut, copy, paste mafia romance with danger and pregnancy troupe.. enemies to lovers..
I wondered if this was AI at times.

Four stars

I really enjoyed this story. I rating is 4 stars because there were consistency and continuity issues throughout. ****lite spoilers ahead**** One example, Dante and Ana's first public outing her dress is red but later after some excitement and action her white sleeve is getting stained. If her dress was described as red AND white, then ok this makes sense. But that was the first and only mention of white at all.

I wouldn't have batted an eye if this book was 100 pages longer to include backstory. Yes there was the main plot backstory, but what did Ana do for 10 years? What happened after that horrible night that changed everything? What's the story with Dante's dad and mom for that matter? Was his dad a real jerk, was his mom happy? Lots of holes that I would have loved filled with a longer book.

All that aside I will read the next book because really this was a good story and I'm hoping for author growth as the books continue.

Fantastic

This was actually a lovely story. Really well written and a great example of a mafia romance. The characters are complex and their development unfolds at just the right pace. I think the story could have benefitted from a little more depth but it doesn’t really leave anything necessary out. I would have liked to see more interaction between Pia and Dante’s siblings and it would have been nice to learn a little more about the siblings in general. This is my first book by this author and I know there are other stories from this world so maybe I missed some of that general knowledge starting here. Still a great book and definitely recommend reading it. Can’t wait to truly meet Luca and enjoy him in all his unhinged glory!

This is a 230 page mafia book - I wasn't expecting much and honestly, I enjoyed this. Who doesn't love a mute man??

Some of the writing could have benefited from an editor. The scene would be Ana in a car, talking to the driver, to suddenly her in her hotel room. No explanation of when and how that happened. Dante would be asleep in the chair beside her bed to suddenly she's watching him play piano in a different room. He can not speak, his entire character arc is about how he physically can't talk after an injury, but there's one scene where he orders the driver to take them home?? However, I was enjoying this enough that it wasn't a deal breaker. If there's one thing about me, it's that brain rot mafia romance will always hit.

3,5⭐️ the last time a picked an MF book up was 3 years ago. HEA depending on babies kills the romance for me.

What I liked:
- silent mafia prince, one sided hate to love, forced proximity, the story was well paced and I love short stories when things fit right.

The amount of phantom things happening in this story is ridiculous. The cliché brother who’s just crazy and unstable, the crying during sex or during the orgasms.

It was fine. If you’re looking for a quick and easy read it’s for you.

Characters 3/5
Story 3/5
Spice 2/5 he’s dark and mysterious but it’s vaaaaniiiillaaaa

First book read by this author and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series and check out the others. The writing really hits you in the gut. The way Dante embraces Ana’s violence and anger and allows himself to be what she needs when she needs it is so heartwarming and breaking at the same time. The way Ana’s grief was written once the truth was revealed to her was so beautifully written. I could feel her pain. I adored this story and cannot wait to read Luca’s next. He was such an intriguing character in this story!

Hmmm. I’m not sure exactly how I feel about this book. It went fast. Kind of repetitive too. Which WAS a tad annoying but it was still a decent book. I love a mute man. 😇😅 I feel like this book could’ve had flash backs or some kind of “history” on Dante and his brothers. And I would’ve enjoyed it way more. I’m more interested in Luca than any of the other characters. I’m not sure if I will read his book though. I haven’t decided.

I have so many conflicting feelings about this book. Lots (and I mean LOTS) of repetition (that definitely became repetitive) in this book, even going as far as making some of the chapters redundant and unnecessary. There were a lot of quirks that annoyed me, but at the same time, so much emotion and a lot of scenes that painted some great visuals in my mind. Because of these polarizing feelings, I gave this one 3 stars.

Hooked on the Rossettis….

Silence was never so loud as the chemistry between Dante & Ana! I have read many mafia books but this one is different in the best sense of the word! All of the characters are well thought out and come to life on the pages of this book…I could see them in my mind’s eye!
All I can say is BRAVO….can hardly wait to read Luca’s story!

Let the music travel up to her, let it whisper what my hands could never sign clearly enough: I see your pain and match it with my own. Try to kill me tomorrow, and I'll still guard your sleep.

"That's my girl," I whisper, imagining Dante's pride when he learns I didn't wait to be rescued. I fought. Just like he knew I would.

Ruthless silence

A story that pulls you in from the first word read. A page turning that you can't seem to stop then the next thing you know you are at the end. Getting ready to go on to the next book to what happens next.

Nice quick read. A bit repetitive with specific words and phrases, which I know don’t bother some but stand out really clearly for me. Wasn’t the best I’ve read but far from the worst either. Mute MMC was an interesting concept

Fab hot story

I loved this fab violent exciting story about Ana and Dante. Since she was young, she has blamed Dante for her family's death. And he didn't stop her. Hot read.
