Engines snarl. Adrenaline surges. In the underground streets of Steelwater, the line between love and danger blurs at redline.
Dani Lane didn’t come to Steelwater to be noticed—she came to disappear. Haunted by scars from her past and carrying secrets no one can ever know, she buries herself in the grease and grind of Ray’s Garage. With her rebuilt Yamaha R6 and the steady hum of a wrench in her hand, Dani is content to stay in the shadows, keeping her walls high and her heart guarded. Racing was supposed to be behind her. Safe. Buried. Forgotten.
But fate has other plans.
One reckless night, Dani finds herself back on the streets, throttle open, heart pounding, the roar of engines dragging her into the world she swore she’d left behind. And waiting for her at the finish line is Ryder Cruz.
Ryder isn’t just a racer—he’s the racer. Known across Steelwater for his control on the pavement and his dominance in the underground scene, he’s as magnetic as he is dangerous. People follow him, fear him, admire him. But Dani? Dani doesn’t flinch, doesn’t fold, and when she takes him down in a race, she flips his world upside down.
Intrigued, Ryder can’t stay away. Dani is fast, fierce, and completely unlike anyone he’s ever known. She challenges him, ignites something reckless in him, and threatens the walls he’s built around his own past. The harder he tries to keep his distance, the closer he finds himself drawn to her.
Soon, what starts as rivalry burns into something far deeper. Between the sparks in the garage, the heat of stolen moments, and the thrill of racing side by side, Dani and Ryder discover a connection neither of them expected—one forged by speed, fire, and the unspoken understanding that both of them are running from something.
But the past doesn’t stay buried forever. Old enemies circle. Loyalties fracture. And every time Dani thinks she can breathe, another shadow from her history closes in. As the stakes climb higher and the races grow more dangerous, she’ll have to can she trust Ryder with her secrets, her heart, and maybe even her life? Or will giving in to him mean losing everything when the checkered flag falls?
Set against the neon glow of Steelwater’s underground racing scene, Redline Hearts is a high-octane romance about speed, loyalty, and the dangerous beauty of love that refuses to be outrun. It’s a story of found family, second chances, and the kind of connection that burns hotter than exhaust under city lights.
Perfect for fans of Rebecca Yarros, Devney Perry, and Katie McGarry, Redline Hearts will leave you breathless, gripping the page as fiercely as Dani grips her handlebars.
Because at redline, there are no brakes. Only the heart—and the finish line.
Lara Steele writes romance for the girls who love broken men, fast machines, and stories that hurt a little before they heal.
She’s the author of Redline Hearts, Faster Than The Train, and the Dusty Hollow series, where you’ll find street racers, bikers, cowboys, and fiercely strong women learning how to rebuild their lives—and their hearts.
Based in Arizona, Lara pulls inspiration from desert sunsets, back roads, and the beautiful chaos of real life. She lives with her boyfriend and daughter, who are her biggest supporters and her greatest motivation.
She believes in stories about second chances, found family, and choosing love even when it’s terrifying.
If her characters are a little reckless and love a little too hard—that’s on purpose.

This book has it all—he falls first, a strong FMC running from her past, high-stakes motorcycle racing, and a girl mechanic with a serious love for speed. The chemistry is intense, the emotions hit hard, and yes… there’s a motorcycle sexy time scene 😉 that absolutely delivers.

Five 🌟 Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Dani and Ryder oh how I loved their story. Dani is running and Steelwater is just supposed to be a temporary stop. But fate had other plans . She catches the eye of Ryder . There is a pull once they meet that neither can deny no matter how much they try. Ryder falls for Dani first she loves him but is afraid based on a past relationship. Together they heal each other from their past. And discover that they don’t have to fight alone that they have each other. Wonderful character development and writing. I laughed I cried I fell in love. With the characters and story. I recieved this book as an ARC read and these are my honest opinions and review.
I came into this expecting fast bikes, reckless decisions, and some good romance tension, but what really hooked me was the emotional weight underneath all the adrenaline. Dani and Ryder feel messy in a very human way. They’re not perfect people magically fixing each other. They’re carrying damage, bad decisions, fear, pride, all of it, and the story actually lets those things breathe.
The racing scenes have real energy to them too. You can feel the speed, the danger, the chaos. But the quieter moments are what landed hardest for me. The found-family vibe, the loyalty between characters, the sense that everyone is trying to outrun something from their past… that stuff hit.
Lara Steele writes with a lot of heart. The book feels gritty and emotional without losing the fun of the romance and motorcycle culture.
If you like romance with tension, damaged characters, emotional payoff, and enough speed to make your pulse kick up a notch, this one’s worth picking up.
I really enjoyed this book and found it engaging from beginning to end. The writing kept me hooked, and I appreciated how the story took the time to fully explore both Dani and Ryder as main characters.
Learning about their pasts and understanding what they were each running from added depth and emotional weight to their journey. The character development felt complete and satisfying, and the relationships throughout the story added a lot of heart.
Overall, this was a well-written and compelling read that kept my attention the entire time.
Holy headlights Batman! What did I just read? I’m not usually one for these kinds of stories. But damn. This was fire. My heart was pounding the entire time I was reading this. This was high performance intensity. I could feel the bike, hold the throttle, and hear those engines roar. The description was so good, this was playing in my mind as I was reading. Dani and Ryder were omg hot. The intensity between them was so spicy. I was obsessed with them. Such a dang good story.
Dani knows bikes, speed, leaving, and fear. Ryder’s leadership keeps his crew and the town together. Both riders have experienced horrific pain but keep showing up. This book is a story of struggle, perseverance and hope. I loved how the author Lara Steele pulled every emotion I had to life. Simply a great, great book.
Redline Hearts completely exceeded my expectations and has easily become one of my favorite reads of the year. What starts as an exciting, high-octane racing romance quickly evolves into something much deeper. It's a story about healing, trust, ambition, resilience, and finding love when life has left its mark.
The author does an incredible job bringing both the racing world and the characters to life. The race scenes are thrilling and immersive, making you feel like you're right there on the track, while the emotional moments hit just as hard. I found myself equally invested in the outcome of the races as I was in the personal journeys of the characters. That's a rare balance to achieve, and this author does it beautifully.
What impressed me most was the depth of the character development. The characters feel authentic, flawed, and relatable. Their struggles, triumphs, and emotional growth felt genuine, making it easy to connect with them and become emotionally invested in their story. The chemistry between the characters is undeniable, but it's the emotional foundation beneath the romance that truly makes this book shine.
The writing itself is engaging, polished, and incredibly easy to get lost in. The pacing keeps the pages turning, blending heart-pounding action with heartfelt moments that stay with you long after you've finished reading. There were several scenes that made me smile, others that tugged at my emotions, and more than a few moments where I simply couldn't put the book down.
I want to give major praise to the author for crafting a story that is both entertaining and emotionally impactful. It's clear that a tremendous amount of care went into these characters and their journey. This is the kind of book that reminds readers why they fell in love with reading in the first place.
If you enjoy racing romance, emotionally rich characters, compelling relationships, and stories that offer both excitement and heart, then Redline Hearts absolutely deserves a place on your TBR list. In fact, I'd move it to the top of the pile.
A fantastic read from beginning to end, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Well done to the author for creating such a memorable and heartfelt story.
Dani is running and Steelwater is just one more stopping place. She definitely doesn’t mean to enter a race and catch the eye of the towns leading motorcyclist. Nor does she mean to become the defacto mentor to the orphaned young kid who just wants to be around motorcycles. And certainly didn’t mean to be taken under the wing by the gruff garage owner. But then her past catches up to her and she has to decide. Stay and fight for what she’s found or keep running.
The author certainly knows a lot about motorcycles. Note to the reader, this is not a motorcycle club romance. This is about street bikes, illegal races, and whose crew is best.
The first half of the book we follow Dani, then flip to Ryder as we follow both of them working through old ghosts. Some spice in the first half and none in the second if you are looking for that. I really liked that we saw Dani & Ryder working on their relationship vs just letting chemistry mean it’s all going to be ok.
That said, I felt that I was almost reading two different stories when we flipped to Ryders side. There is definitely room for spinoff stories with Juno & Marco, and maybe later with Leo.
Overall, we leave the story with the HEA and feeling good.
This was my first Lana Steele book and wow… I devoured this in one night. I couldn’t put it down.
Also this was my first sport bike romance and now I’m wondering why I waited so long to read one because this book had my heart racing the entire time. The racing scenes were so intense I swear my pulse was going just as fast as the bikes.
Dani and Ryder were both such strong characters on their own, but together they were absolute fire. The chemistry between them was undeniable and the tension kept building the whole time.
I also loved that the story wasn’t just romance. Dani’s past adds emotional depth to everything happening, and when you mix that with the high-stakes bike races, the whole story feels like one big adrenaline rush.
If you love romance that feels intense, fast-paced, and full of tension, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Tropes / vibes: 🏍️ Sport bike racing 🔥 High tension chemistry 💔 Emotional past ❤️🔥 Intense romance ⚡ Adrenaline-filled story
This book , within a few pages grabbed me and would not let me put it down until the last page was read. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for the flow of the story. Speeding up and slowing down as needed which made for an easy and enjoyable read. It has characters that you feel as though you have known forever. No matter what happens or what they need to do, you will love them and you want to see them overcome whatever may get in their way. This book does not disappoint, it is a must read, no doubt about it.
Redline Hearts: A Sport Bike Romance by Lara Steele delivers all that and more. Her main characters jump off the page. Her side characters are well-developed, and you’ll either love or hate them. Sometimes both.
Lara has woven a heartbeat into a hard, dangerous world. You feel the emotion in every character throughout. Lara’s storytelling is cinematic. You never have to guess what a location looks like. She makes you see it, smell it, and hear it.
If you like dangerous bike races with a side of steamy romance, check out Redline Hearts.
I really enjoyed this book! I LOVE the knowledge on the sport bikes as a rider myself and really would love more bikes like this! Most of the motorcycle books I read are about Harleys and not sport bikes. I absolutely would love to see more from this author in this genre! I do think the writing was pretty good but I do prefer first person myself. I feel the book did go on for a while and could have been a bit shorter with how the story went but I wont complain because I cannot find another sports bike romance for the life of me! I cant wait to read more books from this author!
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end and honestly did not have anything I disliked about it. The romance was engaging, the chemistry between the characters kept me invested, and the sport bike setting gave the story an exciting edge. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy fast-paced contemporary romance, strong emotional tension, and motorcycle-themed stories. I gave it five stars because it held my attention, made me care about the characters, and left me completely satisfied by the end.
What a great read! Once I picked up Redline Hearts, I couldn’t put it down. Full of suspense, surprises, and grabs your attention from the first chapter. Cant wait for the next one!
