Sure, Let’s Go!: To the Ends of the Earth

Rate this book
Sure, Let's Go! One guy, endless wilderness, questionable decisions

From Arctic blizzards and Himalayan monasteries to encounters with grizzly bears, glaciers, and spiritual gurus, Sure, Let's Go! is the true tale of Martyn Williams, a cheerful Liverpudlian who swapped the classroom for the cold, and later, the cold for inner stillness. With a backpack full of bad maps and boundless enthusiasm, Martyn bumbles, climbs, and chants his way across continents in search of adventure and, unexpectedly, bliss. Told with wit, warmth, and a touch of mischief, this is a book for anyone who's ever said "yes" to the unknown—or wishes they had. Perfect for fans of outdoor adventure, spiritual memoir, and anyone who believes snacks are essential gear.

Martyn Williams is the first to lead expeditions to the three South Pole, North Pole, and Everest. He also made the first human-powered crossing of Antarctica and led the Pole-to-Pole 2000 expedition. As a speaker, he shares tools for enlightened living and ultimate human potential.

Sure, Let’s Go by Martyn Williams is one of those rare books that makes you laugh out loud while also making you stare wide-eyed at the sheer scope of human adventure. The stories are remarkable , but it’s the way they’re told that makes this book unforgettable. Williams writes with such wit and subtle comedy that I was still laughing days after finishing it.

Beyond the adventures themselves, the book stirred something deeper in me. As the author explored life with curiosity - testing limits, embracing uncertainty, and seeking truth in both the outer world and the inner one - I found myself learning alongside him. Each experience felt like an invitation to say “Yes, let’s find out what’s possible,” instead of settling for the comfort of routine. It reminded me how alive life can be when we step beyond what society tells us is normal. I finished the book feeling inspired to think, live, and act outside the box, to explore my own edges and see what’s truly possible.

That said, wow, what a life of adventure Williams has had! We go from England to Peru, to Northern Canada, the Arctic, Antarctica, and finally to Indian ashrams. The scale of these journeys is extraordinary, but it’s the honesty, humor, and human insight that make them unforgettable.

I could not put it down. It felt so intimate, like I was listening to personal stories being told to me with such clarity and insight that I could easily visualize scene after scene as it unfolded, like I was a part of the whole happening myself with my own insights being revealed. I laughed out loud throughout and when the author came to the part of his journey where he opened up to his spiritual dimension, I was moved to tears several times as the possibility within was touched. The spirit of this book is infectious. It embodies that being open to living a life of possibility is truly a celebration of life—and one that we want to be a part of! And through the author's experiences, we see that we too can live that way, if we just decide to open up to each moment and say— Sure, Let's Go!
