A Pack for Summer

Rate this book
The four of us. Under one roof. It's going to be one hot summer.

Summer Pham has never been shy about going for what she wants. She's just moved into a cute apartment and fulfilled her dream of opening her very own Vietnamese bakery.

Everything is perfect... as long as you ignore the fancy new patisserie next door and the water pipe that's just burst and flooded her building. Faced with the prospect of no home and no bakery, a town meeting offers a an offer to work and live alongside the Beaufort pack brothers, who are only in town for the summer.

Lucien, a high-powered executive and eldest alpha brother.

Mercer, the grumpy beta pastry chef she now has to share a kitchen with.

And Jae, her tattooed alpha childhood crush, all grown up.

It's the first time the brothers have been together since the breakdown of their childhood pack. With temperatures soaring and chemistry sizzling with the omega in their home, it doesn't take much for the temporary living situation to turn into a friends-with-benefits arrangement.

But hazy summer days are fleeting and when tragedy strikes, Summer may need what they cannot give her—a pack.

A Pack for Summer is a standalone MFMM why choose small town romance. It is part of the Cozyverse shared universe, bringing you cozy omegaverse full of heart, heat and humor.

Narrated in duet style.

☀️ A Pack for Summer ☀️

I’m so sad this series is over because I love this world so much 😭

A Pack for Summer was such a good way to end it though. Easily my second favorite in the series and honestly so close to taking the top spot.

Summer and her boys were everything. The chemistry, the banter, the joking around, all of it just worked. I loved Summer's personality so much!

And wow… the spice?? 🥵🔥🥵🔥

Ugh I just loved these characters so much. Summer was so bold and beautiful and sassy and I wanted to be her and be with her. Jae was adorable and awkward and I wanted to wrap him up and protect him from all harm. Mercer was grumpy and emotionally constipated, but deeply cared about his brothers and was passionate about his work. Lucien was stuck in a pattern of parentification from his youth and was tightly wound and self sacrificing to a fault. All of these characters were complex and beautiful. They came together in a friends with benefits scenario, but grew to trust and rely on one another as more. They each pushed each other out of comfort zones and into places where they could grow and challenge their assumptions about life and relationships.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: sexual harassment, designation bias and bullying, internalized designation bias, parent abandonment, parent death (past), hospitalization of side character for chest pain, racism micro aggressions, parentification, struggles with ESL literacy,

The perfect ending to this series! If you want cozy omegaverse with heroes who fall head over heels for the heroine, this series is a must read for you! In this one, Summer has her own bakery and is worried when a new bakery run by three gorgeous men who used to live in their town opens next door. And when her bakery and apartment above the store floods, she's forced to move in with the guys and work out of her kitchen. Obviously, the forced proximity leads to feelings and quite a few spicy times, and the story goes from there. I love a meddling small town (and cat) and you can always expect those in Starlight Grove! The guys were great and I loved how each of them fell for Summer, and how her relationship with them developed. And, as always, the friendship between the four girls is so cute and I love how they're always there for each other.

I am just obsessed with this series and thought this was such a fun end to these character and their stories!

Thank you Putnam and the author Eliana for sending me the ARC.

As expected, Eliana Lee delivered a great book yet again. I’m not surprised I’ve enjoyed it a lot, I knew the writing would be amazing, and the story would have a nice flow.

I really loved the main characters. Summer was such a wonderful soul, I loved how sexually free she was, she knew what she wanted, and she was extremely aware of herself. She also had some great sense of humour, and the things she said sometimes, made me laugh so much. As always, I had to pick favourites when it comes to MMCs 🤭 And while Lucien became my fave since almost the beginning of the book, Mercer ended up being placed pretty close to him. I didn’t feel a lot of connection to Jae, he was just there tbh, and even though I liked him of course, he didn’t make me feel any greater feelings.

The story was going nice as I’ve already mentioned, but it had some moments when it felt too cheesy to my liking. The ending felt a bit rushed, too. In those last few chapters there was a bit too much skipping in order to end the story. I wish there was also an epilogue with all the MCs some time into their future, but I know we’ll get that in the bonus content from Eliana.

safety: *spoilers*
-no real OWD (there’s a woman called Alyssa who works with Jae, she’s an alpha too and she wants Jae, she makes him feel uncomfortable too, when Jae and Summer attend a party, she’s there and she makes Summer feel unworthy and puts her down, Summer ends up kicking her ass but that scene left bad aftertaste for me, she never appears again, just this one time)
-no real OMD (two men, one made her uncomfortable when she visited a farm with Mercer, and the other a colleague of Lucien at the gala, both situations lead to jealousy and the MMCs deal with those guys)
-everyone’s experienced, Summer had a pack in college, she says it’s been too long since she got laid (not specified how long lol), no info on the guys, we just know that they have never been with an omega in heat, they have also never shared anyone before Summer
-no cheating, no 3rd act breakup, just a short separation (a few hours tops)
-HFN (they did the mating ritual, they’re a pack now)

I feel so seen and satiated. I never thought I'd ever get Vietnamese representation in my favorite romance subgenre but the day has come! And it is glorious.

The family dynamics, the little details here and there, and the heart!

But never fear, of course the spice is here! Did someone say freeuse agreement? Bantering as foreplay? Someone tatted and pierced? Switch tendencies?

A Pack for Summer is fun, flirty, sexy, and sweet. It's low angst and a cozy read.

I adored it and hope you pick it up and enjoy it too!

Summer has finally opened her Vietnamese bakery, only to find out a popular French bakery chain is opening up right next door. She’s worried it will affect her business and that’s before she sees who owns the bakery. Summer is taking a peek in the window and is shocked to see her childhood crush Jae and his brothers. Jae, Mercer, and Lucien have been living separate lives since they left home after what happened with their parents.. Their fathers are finally ready to sell their pack house and are back in town to fix it up while Mercer opens another location of his bakery. When a broken water pipe causes damage to Summer’s kitchen and her apartment upstairs, she’s devastated. The town does what it does best, they meddle. They call a town meeting where they decide Summer will move in with Jae, Mercer, and Lucien. They also decide she’ll work out of Mercer’s bakery. Summer and the guys are shocked at how it all unfolds, but they don’t like the idea of her staying anywhere else. Summer is independent, knows who she is, but still has insecurities. Her sassy and stubborn to a fault personality means she wants to do everything on her own. Jae is the tattooed music writer, who is adoarably awkward. Mercer is the grumpy French pastry chef, appears emotionally aloof, but cares deeply. Lucien is used to being the responsible older brother, he can’t help himself from taking care of everyone else first. He’s overworked, tightly wound, and self sacrificing to a fault. These are complex characters, all with distinct personalities. It isn’t too long after Summer moves in that the sizzling attraction boils over and she purposes a no strings attached summer fling while she’s staying with them. The banter and teasing between them led to some laugh out loud moments. In just a short time, they grow to depend on each other and their relationship grows beyond the friends with benefits for the summer. The brothers have never wanted to find a pack after watching their parent’s relationships fall apart. But when feelings grow, they all struggle to acknowledge them, especially since the guys have always planned to leave at the end of summer. It wouldn’t be an Omegaverse romance without some post-heat drama. Feelings get hurt and the guys realize they need to fix their relationship and then show Summer that she can depend on them. Summer and the girls are friendship goals and I loved how they are always there for each other. We can’t forget about the resident cat mayor, Felix. I loved his fiesty personality and how he medlled in their lives.

The fourth and final installment of the Cosyverse universe, whychoose omegaverse series. I have enjoyed every book in the series and I am so sad that it is ending.

Summer has her own Vietnamese Bakery, when a competing bakery moves in next door. With the rude owner who asks her to stop singing in the morning. But when her bakery and apartment get flooded, she ends up having to move in with him and his brothers which lead to friends with benefits situation.

Summer is so headstrong, and tries to handle everything herself and never wants to ask for help. This really resonates with me because I am exactly the same way, and love the way this story is told. This series is a must read if you love omegaverse!

This was amazing. Perfect amount of coziness, humor, emotion, angst and steam. It also has an abundance of cuteness.
Summer and her guys— Jae, Mercer and Lucien were fantastic. I had great time with them. In fact I’m in love with the whole town.
This will be one of my whole time favorite cozy and comfort series.
I loved the way they all came together and complimented each other.
As an Asian I related so much with the characters.

Felix is hands down the best Mayor ever! I love love his antics and matchmaking ways.
Starlight Grove will always have a special place in my heart. I hope they write more stories in this series.

Recommended.

“Wherever your feet land, know that I’m right beside you.”

Another perfect & cozy omegaverse from Eliana Lee! Summer’s story made for such a great read. She had a dream of opening a bakery that focused on comfort food from her childhood and Vietnamese culture and she did it! The town adored her and her family so much. It warmed my whole heart that they had a place where they were accepted and loved so throughly.

“Anything worth having demands that we fight for it. Even against our own self-doubt.”

All of the guys were great. In true why choose fashion, I don’t want to pick a favorite, BUT if I absolutely had to, it would be Jae! I just LOVE a childhood friends to lovers story. His description was also just adorable!

“Your mess matches mine.” I told him tenderly. “Unearthing it hurts but now I can love all of it. I can love all of you, exactly as you are.”

The guys had drifted apart from their chaotic and heartbreaking childhood, but Starlight Grove brought them back together. The Beaufort house was known to be cursed but it definitely seemed to work its magic of Summer and her men.

“Anytime, anywhere, any way we wanted you, that’s what you told Mercer, right?”

This friend’s with benefits romance POPPED OFF, y’all. This group was insatiable and I loved every second of it. Summer is a woman that knows what she wants and went for it. Lucien resisted the pull but he was just as down bad as his brothers!

“Be a good girl and let me use your mouth.”

I am allllll in my feels over this series being completed. Eliana Lee and Emilia Emerson really cultivated such a cozy little chaotic and quirky town and I never want to see it end! I am keeping my fingers crossed that Mayor Felix has more up his sleeves!

This was a fun and spicy read. Unfortunately, it needed to be edited and revised more. The story line felt very choppy and the plot didn’t flow well. It felt very surface level which caused me to feel disconnected and confused with the storyline. I overall still enjoyed the story, but I think it needs more work to be at its full potential.

Thanks NetGalley!

A Pack For Summer by Eliana Lee is a why-choose omegaverse that almost feels too good to be true. When I say that I love this book what I really mean is: I LOVE THIS BOOK and am ready to start wearing Felix inspired merch 7 days a week.

This is a spicy interconnected standalone in a series that truly doesn’t need to be read in any particular order. All you need to know is that each book takes place in the same idyllic small town (think Gilmore Girls) where a matchmaking cat is the unofficial mayor. It quite literally couldn’t be any more endearing.

Eliana reminds readers that sometimes the hardest thing to do is get out of our own way. You can’t choose love and happiness without accepting risk & vulnerability.

A Pack For Summer is a cozy why-choose omegaverse that’s sweet, spicy and banter-filled with an immediate and refreshing emotional depth. Readers that enjoy small town romance, omegaverse with heats/knots/ruts, forced proximity (but more like “peer pressured proximity”), found family and explicit open door spice will love this!

P.S. I’m still grinning like a lunatic from that epilogue.

P.P.S. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard about the clay figurines Summer made.

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy and I'm so so grateful I did, because let me start with saying: I loved this book.

If I wasn't a fan of Eliana before I'm sure as hell am know, I truly enjoyed this, there was just enough drama, it was cozy and nice, the perfect book to just relax and enjoy, plus it doesn't hurt that the writing is on point and there's lots of spice.

Can totally be read as standalone and got me out of reading slum, so if you like cats, baking, forced proximity or just romance in general, this is for you.

Please miss Lee, don't ever stop writing because I truly have loved and devoured everything you've published so far, this is hands down no questions asks 10/10 for me.

A Pack for Summer, by Eliana Lee, is the fourth and final installment of the Cosyverse series. This standalone features FMC Summer Pham, an omega who owns and operates her bakery “Suns Out Bánhs Out” and is as adorable a person as you’d guess based on the name of her business alone. She is sunshine, rainbows, and spunkiness, but with a vulnerability that felt endearing and had me wanting to protect her from any threat to her happiness. Her male love interests are an eclectic mix that consists of a tattooed songwriter, an executive, and a French pastry chef.

One thing that shines throughout the book is Summer’s Vietnamese culture. This is handled with depth, meaningfulness, and respect.

This story includes themes: why choose, forced proximity, friends-with-benefits, grumpy/sunshine, Asian female lead, small town romance.

🚨NEW FAVORITE BOOK BY ELIANA LEE ALERT!!!!!🚨

Be prepared to read a review full of screaming, because that was literally me throughout this entire book. I am such a big fan of this cozyverse series. It has the perfect amount of comfort and warmth, while also being incredibly spicy, which we can always count on Eliana Lee to deliver the perfect why choose romance.

I loved A Pack for Winter, but I resonated with A Pack for Summer so much more. It mentions the struggles of being an immigrant daughter, and battling with the shame and guilt we have towards our parents and sometimes our culture, and it was just so dang relatable. I loved Summer so much, and she just might be my favorite fmc by this author yet. I also want to mention that I finished this under 48 hours. I absolutely did not want to put this book down, and I wanted to ignore all my responsibilities and keep reading about Summer, Jae, Mercer, and Lucien.

The relationship Summer has with the three of them had me SCREAMING. The fun bickering with Mercer, the shy stammering with Jae, and Lucien constantly avoiding what he wants because he's too busy worrying about what everyone else wants and needs. The way they would do absolutely anything for her, and quickly all became completely down bad hahaha. I loved it all. And while the romance is HOT, fun, and even emotional at times. I love the friendships throughout this series. I love Felix, the cat, he is such a fun and pivotal character in this story. Plotting and scheming his way throughout the town.

And also, while this is an interconnected series, it is possible to read these as standalones! The author does a great job of mentioning who previous characters are in relation to the current fmc, so you don't have to read the previous three to read this one, but you should 👀 I loved this book so much (incase that wasn't already abundantly clear), and can foresee myself rereading this asap, because I already miss being with these characters in this cute and loving small town.

If you are looking for a spicy yet cozy why choose omegaverse romance in a small town, where the mayor of the town is a cat (it sounds ridiculous, but I am telling you it is the most perfect role in these stories), you NEED to pick this up. I promise it is so fun, while also having emotional moments at times. The family dynamics, the friendships, and the eventual pack relationships all warmed my heart and I will be forever reading whatever Eliana Lee writes next!

Thank you so much to Putnam and the author for the arc! <3

I can’t put into words how much this book and this series as a whole have meant to me.

A pack for summer follows our last friend in our group of four, summer! She’s just opened a bakery and the last thing on her mind is finding a pack. But then she runs into her childhood crush, and his pack brother moves into the competing bakery next door, and their last pack brother is a delicious alpha.

This book has:
- mental health rep
- found family
- childhood trauma
- immigrant family rep
- why choose
- omegaverse
- and so much more!!

One of my fav moments was seeing Summer work through her feelings with her parents and having to work harder on translating and taking care of them. It was beautifully done. I also just love how great these omegaverse are, great romance, very spicy, and so much love. Cozyverse is the perfect name. I thought this one had its unique storyline of it being a casual thing turning serious and not sure how to balance love vs careers. I also loved the conversation around scent matching / fate / choice.

All my love to starlight grove

oh how i love this cozy little town/universe so much. as the child of an Asian immigrant and whose mother owned Asian restaurants growing up, there’s so much of this book that hits for me. this was definitely a more character driven book with the major issue being that Summer and the guys wanted something casual for the summer and the guys would all be leaving at the end. the spice was hot in this book, which is to be expected, esp with a free use trope 🥵

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!

Summer finally found her pack! The last of our four FMCs to be all packed up and it is well worth the wait. Who doesn't love a second chance romance and a redemption of a broken curse? When we meet Summer, she's three months into the opening of her brand new bakery - when in comes a rival bakery. Not only that, but the owners are the from the Beaufort pack - the three heirs to the cursed Beaufort home. Jae is the sexy musician who Summer connected with in high school, Mercer is his pack brother and beta boulanger, and Lucien is the stoic older brother just trying to keep everyone together. They say they're only there for the summer, until they get their childhood home set for sale. But the question remains, will they be able to heal enough to form the pack that Summer deserves? This final installment of this series was SO GOOD and the perfect amount of cozy and spicy.

i absolutely love this series and i was so excited to get my fingers on this copy and i was satisfied but not blown away. the aapi rep in this one was so so fantastic and the individual struggles each of the boys had felt authentic and tender!

but i think pacing/flow lacked something. loved eliana lee’s spicy scenes but this time they felt overabundant? at least, maybe it took away from the plot a bit? either way, if you want so much spice with mild, low stakes plot, this is the one for you!

A Pack for Summer was a delightful, heartwarming ending to the Cozyverse and our time in Starlight Grove. I really loved Summer's strength and ties to her community and family. I loved how the guys watched out for her and cared for her, even though they said it was just a summer fling. I had such a great time, and got a little teary with it coming to an end. I will miss our fearless leader Felix and his hijinks. I look forward to seeing what comes next from Eliana!

I’m so bummed that it’s over. I’m going to miss Starlight Cove so much. I hope they write an offshoot for the town or even for the rival town!

Summer was amazing. She was bold and knew what she wanted and wasn't going to settle for less. The boys had such a sad backstory and family trauma that made the relationship a little angsty. The spice was spicy. I enjoyed the dynamic between Summer and her boys the most in the series. Of course, my favorite part is Felix. I freaking love this cat so much. I was surprised but not shocked when we discovered that Felix did have a forever home, and the meet-up was so entertaining and lovely. I wish we were getting more in this world. I don't want to leave it.

FOUR SPICY STARS I ATE THIS UP!!!!!!

A Pack for Summer is the last book of the Cozyverse series—four interconnected standalones about a group of friends living in their cozy small town who eventually find their packs. I’m not gonna lie—I was originally disappointed that Ezra, who we are introduced to in the previous book, was NOT featured as a main character in this one. What a missed opportunity, I thought. That being said, I was originally hesitant about the four mmcs presented here, but wow did they all grow on me.

I LOVED Summer and how confident she was in herself, and I LOVED her guys. While this book is still low angst like its predecessors, this one was my favorite and a big part of that is due to the tangible and believable conflict presented between the characters. While the guys originally grew up in Starlight Grove together as a pack, they moved away due to tragedy and eventually went their separate ways. Thus, we are presented with something I’ve never seen before in an omegaverse book: a friends with benefits situation, main characters who do not want to be in a pack at all, and characters who stand on their own. This was so creatively done, and I really enjoyed this and how the characters eventually came together by the end of the book.

Another thing I loved about this book was the representation!!!! Summer is the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants. Her parents own a Chinese restaurant, while Summer has just opened her own bakery selling Vietnamese pastries and sandwiches. Jae is Korean, and I believe Lucien is half (but don’t quote me on that). Some things felt familiar to my own experience of being Asian such as kids in elementary school asking about the food you brought from home. I also enjoyed learning about Summer’s experience as a daughter of immigrants and how she’s had to translate for her parents over the years, as I know this is something common that many children of immigrants experience as well.

Overall, a sweet and super spicy read. I flew through this one. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc

Thank you so much to Putnam Books and Eliana Lee for this NetGalley eARC!! I had the BEST time reading A Pack for Summer! There are so many wonderful things woven into this book!

I absolutely adored Summer, our FMC. She is so funny, witty, thoughtful, sassy, caring— I could go on and on here. You get the picture though, we love her in this house. The amount of times I laughed while reading because of her sense of humor…let’s just say I have a lot of things highlighted lol lol. Also- I loved that we got to read & learn about Vietnamese culture as well as some of the challenges that folks can experience while trying to be a translator for their parent in a medical setting. The medical sociologist part of me is obviously a huge nerd about this as it highlights the complexity of navigating healthcare in a social sense coupled with medical jargon, etc.

Jae, Mercer, and Lucien our MMCs…book besties prepare yourselves. I also loved how different everyone’s personalities were, but when all together it was like connecting pieces of a puzzle. Each of them are also quite funny and I loved how seamless this was as a reader. They’ve also got some pretty intense family things they are working through and I’m glad we get to see this growth throughout the story.

There were so many swoon-worthy moments happening in this book. This book is SPICYYY. The use of an icing piping technique with Mercer? The club with Jae’s hand over Summer’s mouth? In Lucien’s office? I was having the time of my life with not only the steamy growth of their relationships, but also quiet moments of intimacy. I definitely need a physical copy of this book on my shelves and I can’t wait to finish making my way through this series!

The perfect ending to such a wonderful series!
Summer is worried about the new bakery competition opening up right next door to her Vietnamese bakery when an unexpected flooding of her store and shop causes her to temporarily close up. The town’s solution is for her to share cooking space with her new neighbor and use the extra room he and his pack has in their “just for the summer” home.
This book (and this series in general) felt like getting a warm hug. I adored alp the characters of this series, especially the banter Summer had with her guys. She’s full of snark and wit and is perfectly equipped with handling her men. I loved seeing the men fall in love with her and dote on her, and I also loved seeing how much the whole town showed support for her. Felix, the town’s cat mayor, was up to his conniving shenanigans again, and he has quickly become one of my favorite side characters in fiction. This book did discuss some harder topics but it had so much heart and light at its core. I adored this sweet and spicy book and it feels so bittersweet that I won’t get to visit Starlight Grove for another installment.

*I received a complimentary eARC of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
