Rumiko Takahashi is one of the wealthiest women in Japan. The manga she creates (and its anime adaptations) are very popular in the United States and Europe where they have been released as both manga and anime in English translation. Her works are relatively famous worldwide, and many of her series were some of the forerunners of early English language manga to be released in the nineties. Takahashi is also the best selling female comics artist in history; well over 100 million copies of her various works have been sold.
Though she was said to occasionally doodle in the margins of her papers while attending Niigata Chūō High School, Takahashi's interest in manga did not come until later. During her college years, she enrolled in Gekiga Sonjuku, a manga school founded by Kazuo Koike, mangaka of Crying Freeman and Lone Wolf and Cub. Under his guidance Rumiko Takahashi began to publish her first doujinshi creations in 1975, such as Bye-Bye Road and Star of Futile Dust. Kozue Koike often urged his students to create well-thought out, interesting characters, and this influence would greatly impact Rumiko Takahashi's works throughout her career.
Career and major works:
Takahashi's professional career began in 1978. Her first published story was Those Selfish Aliens, a comedic science fiction story. During the same year, she published Time Warp Trouble, Shake Your Buddha, and the Golden Gods of Poverty in Shōnen Sunday, which would remain the home to most of her major works for the next twenty years. Later that year, Rumiko attempted her first full-length series, Urusei Yatsura. Though it had a rocky start due to publishing difficulties, Urusei Yatsura would become one of the most beloved anime and manga comedies in Japan.
In 1980, Rumiko Takahashi found her niche and began to publish with regularity. At this time she started her second major series, Maison Ikkoku, in Big Comic Spirits. Written for an older audience, Maison Ikkoku is often considered to be one of the all-time best romance manga. Takahashi managed to work on Maison Ikkoku on and off simultaneously with Urusei Yatsura. She concluded both series in 1987, with Urusei Yatsura ending at 34 volumes, and Maison Ikkoku being 15.
During the 1980s, Takahashi became a prolific writer of short story manga, which is surprising considering the massive lengths of most of her works. Her stories The Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo, and Fire Tripper all were adapted into original video animations (OVAs). In 1984, after the end of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, Takahashi took a different approach to storytelling and began the dark, macabre Mermaid Saga. This series of short segments was published sporadically until 1994, with the final story being Mermaid's Mask. Many fans contend that this work remains unfinished by Takahashi, since the final story does not end on a conclusive note.
Another short work left untouched is One-Pound Gospel, which, like Mermaid Saga, was published erratically. The last story to be drawn was published in 2001, however just recently she wrote one final chapter concluding the series

"La vita ha dei limiti. Non è qualcosa da trattare con superficialità, che puoi salvare quante volte vuoi, a tuo piacimento. Credevi forse di essere diventato un dio? Pensavi che con Tenseiga non avresti più dovuto temere la morte? Sesshomaru, tu dovevi imparare a conoscere il desiderio di salvare una vita a te cara e allo stesso tempo la paura e il dolore di perderla. Tuo padre disse anche che Tenseiga è una spada curatrice e, pur brandendola come un'arma, bisogna rispettare il valore della vita ed eliminare i nemici con animo compassionevole. È così che deve essere il possessore di Tenseiga per salvare centinaia di vite e mandare i nemici all'altro mondo."

Questo volume si apre con uno degli episodi che avevo amato di più nell'anime: il momento che segna una svolta nel percorso di evoluzione di Sesshomaru e nella sua capacità di gestire appieno i poteri di Tenseiga. La morte di Rin e l'impossibilità di poterla riportare in vita con la spada (visto che l'aveva già fatto una prima volta) permettono a Sesshomaru di provare, forse per la prima volta, paura e sofferenza per la perdita di una persona a cui (senza darlo troppo a vedere) lui si è sinceramente affezionato - la piccola umana che lo segue, che si fida ciecamente di lui e che cerca di sostenerlo al massimo delle sue capacità. In quel momento di disperazione, Tenseiga sblocca il suo vero potenziale, purificando le anime dei defunti e aprendo la via per uscire dalle tenebre dell'aldilà. Sarà poi la madre di Sesshomaru a intervenire per riportare in vita la bambina. All'inizio sembrava un risvolto impossibile, ma anche il nobile Sesshomaru sta imparando il valore della compassione e la necessità di mostrare rispetto per il valore della vita umana.
Il volume poi presenta altri spunti interessanti, a partire dalla triste fine di Kanna, sacrificata senza troppi problemi da Naraku nella speranza di sbarazzarsi di Inuyasha. All'apparenza priva di emozioni, Kanna lascerà a Kagome un messaggio importante su come sconfiggere Naraku (infatti, il sacrificio di Kikyo ha permesso di purificare una piccola parte della sfera e il fetente non riesce a sbarazzarsi di questa luce).
Il confronto con Kao e con i suoi fiori, poi, porta in primo piano la sofferenza che Inuyasha si porta dentro per via della morte di Kikyo - una sofferenza che credeva di dover sopportare da solo, cosa che l'ha spinto a non confidarsi con nessuno (Kagome inclusa) e che stava per fargli fare una brutta fine.
Il volume si chiude con Sango pronta ad affrontare una sfida per poter riavere la sua arma (sacrificata per poter proteggere Miroku - peraltro il maestro non lo vedo molto in forma). Vedremo come andranno le cose, ormai si inizia a intravedere la fine.
Comunque questo è uno dei miei volumi preferiti, Sesshomaru sempre 🔝 (la mamma è un altro soggetto davvero particolare 😅).

Seshomaru tiene un poder que no controla del todo así que acude al consejo de su mamá, así que lo pone a prueba sin embargo Rin muere en el camino y ahora debe regresar la a la vida, seshomaru cuando es capas de controlar su poder regresa con su madre con la petición de que regrese a Rin a la vida.
Mientras inuyasha y compañía son atacados por un demonio que pone su cordura y emociones a prueba.
Y sango casi destruye su Hiraikotsu al enfrentarse a un demonio que poseía un potente veneno.
