Rescue the dragon. Save the rebellion. The Saban Mountains are no longer safe. The Guild is closing in. And the dragons are no longer silent. Ny Keena never expected to survive her first battle, let alone unleash a magic she was never meant to wield. Now, with her dragon Asher and the fiercely loyal Roth, she must venture deep into enemy territory to rescue Roth’s dragon, Lozan, before the Guild tightens its grip for good.
But while the rescue party risks everything behind enemy lines, danger spreads like wildfire across the mountains. The Dragon Riders’ Guild is searching relentlessly, capturing, and destroying anyone who stands in their way. Time is running out.
If Ny Keena fails, Lozan will be lost. And if the Caldera is discovered, the last safe haven of the rebellion will burn.

In a former life, H M Clarke has been a Console Operator, an ICT Project Manager, Public Servant, Paper Shuffler and an Accountant (the last being the most exciting.)
She attended Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia, where she studied for a Bachelor of Science (Chem), and also picked up a Diploma in Project Management while working for the South Australian Department of Justice.
In her spare time, she likes to lay on the couch and watch TV, garden, draw, read, and tell ALL her family what wonderful human beings they are.
She keeps threatening to go out and get a real job (Cheesecake Test Taster sounds good) and intends to retire somewhere warm and dry - like the middle of the Simpson Desert. For the time being however, she lives in Ohio and dreams about being warm...
She is also a bit of a video game nerd and, is into Star Trek, Midsomer Murders and Harry Potter, and she absolutely adores the TV show Almost Human
Another wonderful epic tale with dragons. I can't get enough of Asher! The story expands with new points of view and provides more insight into the misdeeds of the guild. There's still so much more to do and so much more to know, but, as with any good epic fantasy, I'm going to have to wait eagerly for the next installment.
Shoot is Ms Clarke's prose rich! Her words illuminate the pages with a hue that's almost blinding in it's wake. This one sentence demonstrates just that, "They flew into the light, into the unknown, into danger and hope and the fragile thread of a promise". And this, "The chill of tension stuck to her spine like frost", so forgive me, but with many such incredible prose throughout, it speaks to my soul in it's vividry.
Ny Keena, a very talented artist and calligrapher, has put that all aside. One decision, just one, that to save a man, has thrust her into the forefront of a war, has given her a new purpose, has even "given" her a dragon. The progression of her character is so cool, her bond with Asher is so beautiful and her resolve is so heartening. But gosh, when as THIS progression took such an unexpected turn, I was as stunned as Ny Keena was, whoa awesome! The fabulous characters don't end with Ny Keena, nope, we have the likes of Roth, desperate to reunite with his dragon, we have the coolest, snarkiest dragon in Asher, who delighted me with his exuberance, we have Coinn who is so enigmatic, I want to peel him apart to see what lurks beneath, we have Aife and Darrion and Colla, adding depth and intricacies to an already rich plot and let's not forget, Blaze, Roth's awesome companion, the fiercest most protective and intelligent dog on the planet!
With the Guild closing in, with the guild decimating any and all in their path, the challenges these characters face are vast but their determination, their dedication is commendable and so so real. The Guild must be stopped before they destroy everyone and everything. It reeks of corruption and self serving, but they are not an easy foe to confront. Golly, the action nearly stifled my breath in it's intensity but what really astounded me was the revelation of a lurking "something" that only whet my appetite to discover what!
Ms Clarke's world building is so sublime, expanding wonderfully with each stroke of her pen, I'm cast in its midst, I'm experiencing everything the characters do and with a few distinct but different locations, I'm privvy to what's going on where. This author, effortlessly, took me through rough terrain, she took me to soar high above the clouds, she took me on a winding path that had my adrenaline spike. And my word, that ending opens up a whole new can of worms! I'm looking forward to the next book with much anticipation!
Ny Keena and her dragon Asher embark on a perilous mission to rescue Roth’s dragon, Lozan, from the clutches of the ruthless Guild. As the rebellion’s last sanctuary, the Caldera teeters on the brink of discovery, Ny and her allies must navigate treacherous terrain, elemental magic, and personal sacrifice to protect their found family and preserve hope. With dragons that bond deeply to their riders and a world where earth and rain hold ancient power, this second installment in The Elementum series blends emotional stakes, magical adversity, and fierce loyalty into a gripping fantasy adventure.
Another great dragon book. This one is still building upon the first. More character development more world building but a good balance between. I know there’s more books in this series (I forget how many) but it still didn’t expect the cliffhanger. War is impending and waiting on the edge of one is just torture. But knowing moves and counter moves could help you win the battle. Sooo I’m excited to see what Ny Keena and Asher get into.
Action ,Magic, Bravery,And Dragon's. That should be all you need to know ....EXCEPT That the Bravery ,selflessness, and Heroism come from a female lead that was just a calligrapher who just happened to find someone washed up on the beach by her cottage. What comes next is thrills and chills, battles and bravado. And She Has surprises that even she didn't know of. This fast paced Series will keep you wanting more. Bravo for H.M.Clarke for this masterpiece in the making.
Awesome continuation to Ny Keena and Asher’s story as they journey forth with new friends to possible save some more dragons. I loved learning more of the backstories of the characters and seeing the bond between the main ones blossom, especially against a backdrop of an upcoming war. The author did a wonderful job with the world building and her richly detailed writing has me excited about this dragon fantasy, especially as it feels fresh and unique. Looking forward to the next.
Book two of this incredible fantasy series had you hooked and ready to fly with Ny & her dragon Asher. The first book was incredible and this second book is every bit as exciting, thrilling and captivating as we embark on the most dangerous mission to rescue Roth’s dragon, Lozan before the guild gets too close. New friends, more characters growth and wonderful world building has you on the edge of your seat and i am loving being part of this incredible journey.
Great continuation of the story! Ny Keena and the others are on a rescue mission to save a dragon, maybe two. There is excellent tracking and learning of previous history from those left behind at the Caldera. I am fascinated by the last part of this book and am very interested to see where the author takes it.
"A promise written in storm and flight, echoing far beyond the mountains."
This captured my attention the minute I started reading it. It is so well done! I love the storyline and all the interwoven back stories. Ny Keena and Asher are so interesting and so are the others that make up their group. These two have a special purpose I can't wait to find out.
Book two of the Elementum series by H. M. Clarke is brilliant and captivating. I was hooked from the first page to the very last word. There is action, magic and... DRAGONS.... The characters are all well written with a lot of growth from the first book and throughout this book. Ny Keena I think is my favorite character. She is tough, brave and gets the job done! Clarke's vivid world building is beautifully and magically woven throughout the story. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend reading it! I can't wait for the next one!
