This book said fated mates and then immediately made it illegal, which means:
peak tension, peak denial, peak “I definitely shouldn’t want to bite you but I do.”
Our MMC is a grumpy, growly alien captain trying to restore an abandoned base to prove his worth… until the universe drops his fated mate right into his orbit.
They fight that bond like it owes them money.
(Spoiler: they fail. It’s incredible.)
The banter? Razor sharp.
The teasing? Elite.
The bond tension? Hydrate before reading.
And the women??
STEM brilliance, found family chaos, a girl squad that could overthrow a regime with sarcasm and a wrench. Absolute icons. 👩🔬💥
Meanwhile our MMC is:
• Possessive but respectful
• Grumpy but soft for exactly one woman
• “We can’t be mates” while orbiting her like a devoted satellite
Sir. Be serious.

Okay, really fun from top to bottom. We love a woman in STEM! Everyone needs an Elora in their lives to get stuff done.
I really enjoyed both the personal and universal storylines! Elora's and her fellow humans' fight for freedom from captivity, Eh'Lyee's military mission, as well as Eh'Lyee's personal growth arcs were all very rewarding in the end.

Great crash landing to abduction to pet romance. I really loved that the FMC was such an integral part of the rebuilding the moon station. Not just like a good idea for the aliens to work with, or I'll do my own thing and it'll help, but her basically going "your tech is adorable, hold my beer". Major power move. And the forbidden love trope too. So good.
