The next instalment in the explosive, edge-of-your-seat Thomas Caine thriller series from BESTSELLER Andrew Warren.
"Don’t mess with Thomas Caine. Ever." - New York Times bestselling author Brett Battles

Recovering from a grueling mission overseas, CIA Paramilitary Officer Thomas Caine returns home, eager to resume his relationship with Rebecca Freeling. Even if it means leaving his career behind.
But fate has other plans…
A bomb reduces a US federal building to smoking rubble. Someone close to Caine is counted among the dead. And the CIA’s most lethal killer is determined to bring those responsible to justice, no matter the cost.
From New Jersey's urban sprawl to a remote town in the San Bernardino Mountains, Caine's hunt for vengeance sets him on a collision course with a sinister new domestic terror group—and thrusts him into a conspiracy reaching the highest levels of government. These violent extremists are determined to plunge America into a new Civil War…
Can Caine stop their next attack, before it’s too late?
Once you move past the very graphic violence in the first chapter of Hunting Ground from Andrew Warren accepting that this is the norm, there is an excellent story of a white supremist cult obsession, power and tragedy to be discovered. Thomas Caine is recovering from a Mission that saw him decide that he had been lucky probably for the last time and he needed to reassess his future, particularly where it involved Rebecca Freeling, a woman who somehow saw the best in him. But his freshly created plans are put to the ultimate test when a protest march turns violent, and at the same time a terrorist attack occurs on the G. H. Fallon Building in Baltimore; the building where his beloved Rebecca works. This is followed by a series of tragic circumstances, the death of his friend Tom’s son Sean, a person he had vowed to protect, and the discovery that his long-time mentor and friend Frank Balwin was dead. Tom is deeply challenged by the events that have occurred. When he makes the decision to risk everything for an answer he finds he is once again having to dig deep, far deeper than ever before as he is facing something so destructive it could see America facing a civil war. Working clandestinely alongside AJ Zavala, an FBI Special Agent who becomes accidently involve, having unexpectedly inherited the property of Frank Baldwin, along with a series of cryptic letters, they realise that whatever is occurring in the San Bernadino Mountains it nothing but bad with tentacles that reach into the highest levels of Government. Has he risked all for a lost cause or can they seek out the ruthless killers and see them bought to justice. Will Rebecca forgive him this time or not is also on his mind as he and AJ face incredible odds against well trained men, in a battle that could see them both dead. Fast paced, vivid in description and a cliff hanger right to the end, Andrew Warren leaves the future of Thomas Caine hanging by a thread as he makes the toughest decision of his very challenging career.
The latest installment in Andrew Warren’s Thomas Caine series delivers exactly what fans have come to expect—high-stakes action, relentless pacing, and a story that refuses to let go. In Hunting Ground, Caine is pulled into a deeply personal mission after a devastating bombing and the loss of someone close to him, sending him on a path of vengeance that quickly expands into a far-reaching conspiracy involving domestic terrorism and threats at the highest levels of government.
I just finished the book, and it honestly didn’t surprise me that it had me hooked from the very first page. Having read all of Warren’s Caine books, I’ve come to expect that kind of pull—and once again, he delivered. I’ll continue to read anything he writes without hesitation.
What really sets Warren apart is how immersive his storytelling feels. He has a way of pulling you so deeply into the narrative that it’s easy to forget you’re reading—you feel like you’re right there alongside Caine, moving through every high-risk moment and uncovering every twist in real time. The pacing is tight, the stakes feel real, and the tension never lets up.
I’m also pretty particular about dialogue, especially in thrillers where it can easily feel forced or overdone. But Warren absolutely nails it here. The conversations feel natural, grounded, and believable—exactly the kind of real-life cadence that makes characters come alive instead of sounding scripted.
Overall, Hunting Ground is another standout in an already strong series. If you’re a fan of action-driven thrillers with sharp dialogue and immersive storytelling, this one won’t disappoint.
Many others here have summarized the plot of Hunting Ground, the seventh Thomas Caine book by Andrew Warren. If you are new to the Thomas Caine series, here's what you can count on in every installment: -- vivid prose -- impeccable pacing, biased toward action -- technical precision regarding fight choreography and weaponry -- expert awareness of technology -- a rugged, proactive hero who treads the line of superhero, yet never quite crosses it -- a high degree of originality, while still hitting familiar action genre tropes.
In previous books Caine has traveled all over Asia, so it's refreshing to see him in the U.S. for this adventure.
Author Warren has set a very high bar for himself in earlier volumes. For me he did not quite match himself in Hunting Ground, as the ending, though sensational and action-packed, hews too closely to similar set pieces we've seen in many, many movies, video games, and novels. A finale that involves three identical trucks grows quite confusing; which truck is "the truck" and which truck is "the other truck"? Knowing this is a British publisher, which side of the road are we on?
However, these blemishes are the exceptions that prove the rule. Lovers of action fiction will certainly enjoy Thomas Caine, and though I did not love Hunting Ground as much as I loved Tokyo Black and White Tiger (for example), it still lands far above similar action series.
Hunting Ground has a great start and I was pulled into the story quickly. When someone close to Tom Caine dies in a tragic event Caine becomes determined to find the person responsible and make them pay, helped by FBI Special Agent AJ Zavala. They uncover a terrorist group with their own agenda and Caine and Zavala must stop them before more lives are lost. This is definitely my kind of read and has everything I like - good writing, an all to believeable plot in todays world, cliff hanger chapter endings that made me want to know more and two very likeable main characters. The author knows how to deliver a fast paced, action packed engaging read that is full of thrills, tension and suspense. Hunting Ground is the 7th book in a series, and my first read by Andrew Warren. Yes, whilst there are mentions of previous characters and events I think this can be read on its own and I'll definitely be looking to read this series from the start when I can. Overall a very, very good and entertaining read which I would recommend.
Andrew Warren's Thomas Caine is back and vengeance is the name of the game is Hunting Ground! Although this novel is rooted in the prior relationships and, to a certain degree, events in previous books, it is very much a well written standalone. He gives the reader just enough to not leave them feeling lost, but to also want to pick up the other books. That being said, this book reads like a story that could very well ripped from today's news. He's not preachy not is he not promoting an ideology, but doesn't shy from laying out what we're reading and seeing on a daily basis and leaves the reader with alot to think about while giving an action packed revenge tale. I was really impressed with the quality of the fights. In a time where gunplay is more popular, Andrew Warren shows his skill in choreographing and putting to paper hand to hand (or foot or elbow) combat. I could go on, but I'll leave you with this, READ THIS BOOK!!!
A good action producing, suspenseful thriller. Andrew Warren is a new to me author, and I believe this book can be read as a stand-alone, however I also believe the reader may find more enjoyment in the book having already meet Caine in previous books. There are times within the story you need to know what kind of man Caine is in the broader sense. That's not to say Hunting Ground can't be enjoyed on its own. The book has some remarkable characters and sensational action scenes tied to the drama and tension within the storyline. I'm looking forward to getting to know Thomas Caine better, and see what other crazy journeys he's been on.
This is my honest review after reading an ARC from Netgalley and Boldwood Books.
A Thriller Built on Grief, Resolve, and Dangerous Truths
Hunting Ground hits with an emotional weight I didn’t expect. The story begins with a loss that reshapes Thomas Caine’s entire sense of direction, and that grief lingers through every decision he makes. Instead of leaning only on action, the book ties its intensity to the people Caine refuses to abandon and the promises he can’t walk away from. The domestic‑terror plot feels unsettlingly close to reality, and the investigation pushes him into places where the lines between justice, loyalty, and retaliation blur fast. Even as someone new to the series, I never felt out of step with his history. It’s a tense, human‑driven thriller that carries both momentum and heart.
If you like excitement then this is the book for you. You are dropped into the action on the first page. Then unlike some books that tend to slow down it just keeps going. Caine has been over seas and comes home to find the federal building blown up. His close friend is killed rescuing his girlfriend from an elevator after the explosion. Caine is determined to find who is responsible for the bombing and are trying to put the blame on his dead friend.
I highly recommend this book you will not want to put it down till you have finished it. It is well written and there is never a slow down in the book.
Hunting Ground by Andrew Warren is the 7th book in the Thomas Caine series but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is a book that will have your heart pounding because of the action-packed chapters and have you wondering "how is he going to get out of this situation?" I received a copy of this book from the author, and I always review every book that I read. This book had me turning pages well into the night.
The plot and the characters are well developed. This is a book well worth reading. Enjoy.
Hunting Ground is the 7th installment in this series and it just keeps getting better and better. It is a fast-paced read that grabs you on the first page and is powered by non-stop action and a taut, emotional narrative. The many twists and turns in the story make it a real page turner that makes it hard to put the book down.
Thank you to the author, who provided me with a copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Gritty. Violent. Brilliant writing. These are all hallmarks of books by Andrew Warren, and Hunting Ground definitely doesn't disappoint! This is my first introduction to Thomas Caine. The book reads well as a stand alone, but as with most series, there is backstory from previous books that would enrich the reading experience. Fabulous read! I'm looking forward to rewinding to the start and getting more of a Thomas Caine fix!
Where have I been? I understand this is a pretty long running series and yet, I've never read anything by this author before!
Wow...the premise of this book could be a 'ripped from the headlines' thriller! The story is fast paced and completely holds your interest. If you're looking for a well-written book about contemporary issues, look no further. A 5 star read for me. I'm going to have to grab a few more of this series and get caught up!
Whoa, what a wild ride! I remember thinking about how I wouldn’t want to cross Thomas Caine as the story was being set up, and I was right! The enemy in the story had to face his wrath as he hunted them down. It makes for an exciting story that keeps you turning the pages to the very end! I hadn’t read a Thomas Caine series book before, but I will definitely be going back to read earlier books in the series. 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bombings of buildings are pretty much a fact of life nowadays everywhere in the world...even in well governed, popular states.. So, the bombing of a federal building in New Jersey by a militant group was not all that strange. Except this time Thomas Caine knew one of the casualties and he wants some answers. Now! Andrew Warren once again manages to draft an active plot full of action without much fanfare, drawing the reader into a violent world where death is too often regarded as the only possible recourse. Hunting Ground is so plausible as to give one cold chills from the first page to the last as Caine and Zavala unravels the culprits and their lethal goals. Enjoy
This was an excellent read! I do enjoy the spies and how they behave. This was a top notch story and grabbed me from the first page. There is lots of action of course, but also some deeper parts. I found this to be a hard to put down thriller and I really didn't like getting to the last page! I want more.
Another great Thomas Craine story. In this one he ends up hunting local terrorists in the US. His relationship with Rebecca gets strained as a result of a terrorist bombing of a US building. The story takes us across the US and there are a couple of interesting plot twists along the way. A good well written read.
I gave this five stars because it was a really good book to read.A lot of action in there that kept me reading it.If anyone has not read this book yet,you should. Tiffany
