i should really start reading the full blurbs and not the first two sentences.
i’ve just learned that the protagonist does NOT get together with a demon, but a regular human and i am devastated.
also, what’s the point of demons if we aren’t fucking the demons

The door moaned out a loud creak as it swung open, reminding him vaguely of pretty much every haunted house movie he’d ever watched. Thankfully, he loved horror movies, so this was amusing rather than unnerving.

A house full of meddling demons couldn’t scare their new human roommate, so they decide to help him with his love life instead.

I didn’t read the blurb (as usual), so I was expecting a demon/human romance, not ‘cute found family of demons help two humans date’. It was lighthearted, fun and fluffy… mostly.

How could they have gotten so lucky to have found such an interesting human? Nothing scared him, he liked spicy food, and he thought horror movies were funny!

I loved seeing these ‘scary’ demons go from trying to scare Luke to wanting to protect him.
The plot took an unexpectedly dark turn towards the end, the drama surprising and unnecessary, really. The tone shift threw me off, so the ending wasn’t as enjoyable as the rest of the book.

“Yep.” Tog clapped his hands together and rubbed them with an evil grin. “We’re gonna make sure our boy gets laid.”

The romance had a bit of that same conflicting tone. Luke and Matteo were adorkable, cute boys on first dates, sweet first kisses. But during the spice scenes they felt like different people? There isn’t much spice to really explore their dynamic, but it still felt like we were seeing two different people, not the sweet dorky boys.
“No. You wanted to be fucked hard. You come when I say you can come.”

Yeah, that’s hot as fuck, but not really what I thought sweet shy Matteo would say.

Still, this was a super fun paranormal read even if it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. I love when not reading a blurb works in my favor.

Luke had always wanted a close family to spend time with and who wanted to protect him. He’d never expected to find it in a crazy, ragtag bunch of demons and one very sexy, sweet human named Matteo. Add in a murder of crows, and this was heaven.

This was so funny! I've needed a good spooky vibes book because I seem to have completely bypassed the autumn feel and gone straight to Christmas 😂

I really enjoyed the shenanigans that the demons got up to when they were trying to scare Luke, but their matchmaking attempts were even funnier! Poor Matteo 😂

I'd actually love to read more with this group of character's

“There are no such things as ghosts, poltergeist, or demons. Besides, between work and school, I won’t even be here that much. Just a place to shower and sleep”.

He’s not gay? Can we make him gay?

This book is funny, and I liked it a lot. The demons had interesting personalities, and I loved Luke and Matteo's relationship development.

Awesome. Amazing. Delightful. Funny. No notes. Obsessed. Another.

Truly, it was really good and really fun and I couldn't put it down. Luke and Matteo make for a cute couple and the demons make for hilarious wingmen.

Edit, reread on audio. Absolute loved it again.

I pre-ordered this as soon as I read the blurb from Drake's newsletter. Because seriously, DEMONS trying to help humans getting dates sounds HILARIOUS.

And I was right! I giggled at times reading the plans that Azaroth and his demons prepared to help Luke get laid. Of course, them being demons, well, not everything ran smoothly. Wait, I think all of them, didn't run smootly 😆

Luke was adorable - he was a bit of a nerd, but he was kind-hearted. Such precious human! The only defect Luke had was that he was allergic to cats and that he preferred birds than cats, and he was okay with demons terrorizing neighborhood cats. NOT COOL, Luke (¬⤙¬ )

I didn't mind Matteo for Luke. Sound he was good for our demon's roommate. It just the story was from Luke and the demons' POV, so Matteo didn't really shine in my opinion. But Luke loved him, so yeah, I loved him for Luke.

The book turned a bit darker near the end - which didn't completely in vibe with the first 3/4 part or so. At the same time, it gave the demons reason to run havoc, so, I couldn't strongly complain. All in all, this was a good read!

Listen. When you start a book where literal sons of Hell decide to rent their attic to a college student—just so they can compete in a scaring contest and somehow end up competing to get said student laid—you know you’re signing up for chaos. And chaos, this delivers.

But it’s not the dark, horned, soul-stealing kind of chaos. Nope. It’s the tooth-enamel-melting, dorky, pun-filled, giggle-snort kind of chaos. Because in this world, there’s a mansion that breathes, a library that cries, and crows that act as guards—and somehow, it’s still the most wholesome, ridiculous fun you could have with demons from Hell.

Luke and Matteo are honestly just the cutest disaster duo you could imagine, the Estonian demons (iykyk😂) are equal parts charming, clueless, and weirdly sweet for beings born of brimstone.

It’s silly. It’s flirty. It’s the kind of story that makes you grin like an idiot because it’s just so adorably stupid in the best possible way. The puns? Actually smart. The vibes? Like dessert after a long day—sweet, chaotic, and gone too fast.

It was a fun and fluffy palate cleanser, you shouldn’t take too seriously ❤️

legit for the first 20% of this I thought y'all were just mean about this story not being fun and turning bland after the initial setup - and then the book proved me wrong for the next 90%. Like...humans are boring but watching paint dry has more tension than Luke and Matteo's relationship.

I loved this! Made me chuckle at the demons at various places in the book 🤣 And of course, watching Luke and Matteo becoming a couple was endearing and sweet 😍 I wanted more of Harper tho, she kinda disappeared at the second half. But overall, a funny and quick read 😃

3.5 but I rounded up for the demons!

I LOL-ed at the review that thought it was Luke getting with one of the demons because I thought that as well and was slightly disappointed when Matteo showed up, LOL.

But hey, a found family of demons works too! :)

Writing wasn't bad, but I'm giving this a 2 star primarily because I believe this book is mislabeled. The fact that the story revolves around Luke and his roommates hijinks meant that this isn't a romance. The book is a comedy with a romantic subplot. The story isn't about how Luke and Mateo fall in love, it's about how Luke deals with his roommates and their attempts at getting him and Mateo together. Two very different stories and promises with regards to genre.

I spontaneously decided to read this book and I don't regret it at all. Maybe I was hoping it were a tad funnier but nonetheless is was very entertaining. It was a quick read, the chapters had the perfect length for me. The lovestory between Luke and Matteo was really adorable! Both mmcs were really sweet. A lot of school talk though, it wasn't my favorite. The side characters were great too and I kinda hope they each find partners!

Luke the grad student moves in with a houseful of snarky demons. He doesn't know that, though (although the address 666 Sleepy Hollow Road should have been a hint,) but they soon find out that hanging out with Luke is much more fun that trying to scare him to death.

“A project?” Bath’tuk repeated, blinking his single wide eye. “What kind of project?”

“Preferably something low key that doesn’t attract the attention of the police, the neighbors, or worse…” Azroth paused and shuddered, “the homeowners association. A project we can all take part in.”

See? Snarky. Also, sneaky with their demon summoning contracts.
“If you had a request that required a more substantial payment, such as your soul, you would be offered a proper contract to sign so that the agreement was binding. In the past several years, we’ve been modeling our contracts after Apple’s service contracts.”

“Holy shit! No one reads those.”

Azroth’s grin turned positively wicked. “I know.”

Now all that's left is finding out if a gorgeous guy named Matteo likes him back, and if the demons can keep themselves from scaring him off.

4/5. This was sweet and hilarious until it got a little dark-ish, but then it was all sunshine and unicorn roses again. I was here for it. It has some wonky bits and some editing whiffs, but it was overall pretty solid. I could read so much more on this crew. ALL MONSTERS NEED LOVE I AM JUST SAYING. We equal opportunity monster fuckers around here. Not everyone is a media-defined “hottie with a body”, ya feel me? There’s more to be had from this cute little world of hella precious chaos and shenanigans.

This was cute! If you’re looking for a low angst rom-com, this would be right up your alley.

Luke is a grad student in need of a place to stay and the mansion close to campus has an open room. Does the mansion house a handful of demons? Yes. Does Luke let that stop him? Absolutely not.

Luke’s also got a crush on Matteo, a guy he’s seen around campus. Given that demons aren’t up to date on human dating, things go awry when they try to help Luke date Matteo.

🐦‍⬛ multiple third person POV
🕸️ demon roommates
👹 found family
🐦‍⬛ open door spicy scenes
🕸️ low angst with a HFN
👹 paranormal-ish romance

This one was fun and cute. The demons were sweet. Luke was cool, the way he didn't get fazed by spiders or the multitude of birds. The house was pretty cool too. Matteo was pretty standard and secondary. I was just there for the adopt a human program. It was a shame the best friend didn't meet the demons, think she'd be pretty into them finding her a girlfriend. Great fun.

This book was far too long for its own good.
From the blurb I was expecting cuteness and fun. Cuteness there is, but the fun bits are few and far between and the demons’ definition of harassment felt more like primary school kids pranks.
It would have worked for me in a shorter format. As it is I had to force myself to keep reading starting around 45% till almost 80%.

Demon Dating Service is the story of a house full of demons and Luke and Matteo. Luke moves into a house with a bunch of demons and the fun begins. At first the demon s try to scare Luke away but when that doesn't work they decide to help him get his crush Matteo. This was just a fun spooky season story. I loved all the characters because they each have their own personality. This had me smiling through out the whole story. I loved the found family aspect of the story. I wasn't expecting the dark turn at the end. I would definitely recommend this book.

Loved this book. When I wasn't laughing out loud, I had a pretty big smile on my face.

Luke is a poor collage student and falls prey to 5 demons who are bored. They advertise for someone to share the house and Luke applies and gets the room. At first the demons try to scare Luke and its funny how he deals with them. Eventually the demons decide to start to hep Luke to win the heart of his fancyman.
This is a good read and 1 I recommend.

for me this book would’ve worked way better if it had been told solely from the demons’ POV, I couldn’t bring myself to care about the human’s perspective, and I think he would’ve been a far more interesting character if we only ever saw him through the demons’ eyes.
this book was fun at first, I would’ve liked more descriptive detail (especially when it comes to the house and the demons), because I never fully got a sense of the space or how everything looked. the writing also needed some more serious editing.
early on, it did exactly what I needed it to: provide merriment and distraction. however, I ended up DNFing this book at 50%. once the demons stopped trying to scare the human and instead decided to actively help him with his love life, I completely lost interest. that shift just didn’t work for me and drained most of the tension and charm that initially hooked me. and again, I could not stand the human’s POV, it shifted the tone from light to heavy and was incredibly repetitive.

side note: the human has a whole issue with cats because they eat birds and he loves birds, yet he eats them (chicken) make it make sense

A Charming, Chaotic, and Surprisingly Sweet Read

From the very first chapter, the story bursts with charm and personality, blending paranormal intrigue with laugh-out-loud romantic chaos in a way that feels both fresh and effortlessly fun. All in a richly entertaining world where supernatural chaos meets laugh-out-loud matchmaking, and the result is pure magic.

This quirky blend of humor, heart, and supernatural mischief that makes for an immensely fun escape. The premise alone is delightful: Luke, a broke grad student with more determination than common sense, ends up living with a house full of demons who are far more bored than they are dangerous.
When Luke lets slip that he’s hopelessly smitten with Matteo, the most gorgeous man he’s ever laid eyes on, the demons scrap their old “let’s scare the human senseless” plan and launch a new competition: who can jump-start Luke’s love life first? With haunting no longer on the agenda and matchmaking chaos in full swing, things get entertaining fast.

Luke is instantly likable, awkward, earnest, and just trying to survive grad school without collapsing under stress. His demon roommates steal the show, each adding their own brand of chaos and charm. Their antics are hilarious, and watching them shift from trying to scare him to becoming his unlikely support squad is genuinely heartwarming.

The book leans heavily into fluff and found-family vibes, and it excels there. The romantic plot is cute and satisfying, even if a little predictable, and the pacing keeps things moving at an enjoyable clip. At times the story’s lightness means some emotional moments don’t land as deeply as they could, but the overall tone is so warm and joyful that it hardly detracts.

This is a fun story with lots of unintentional mistakes and magic. This is the story of Luke Carter, Matteo Zito and a house full of demons. The story starts with Azroth trying to contain the other four demons in the house - Ogos, Annod, Bath'tuk and Mullmag. They are trying to stay under the radar and not come to the attention of humans nor hell. As well all know there is nothing worse than a bored demon. In order to keep things in safe, they come up with a project. They will rent a room to a college student and have a competition to see who can scare him first. They will each get one try. The crows were sent out to find the perfect roommate. Luke is a poor grad student who is desperately trying to make ends meet. He is working two jobs and still needs to find a place to stay. Then the crows that he has been feeding on campus drop a rental listing to him. The location and price are perfect. He accepts the room and happily starts staying at the house. He is so exhausted and kind that none of the scaring tactics seem to work. Luke loves horror and always thinks the best of everyone in every situation. Finally one demon reveals his demon self in order to try and win the contest. While shocked at first, Luke's main concern is that they will now want him to move out so that they can scare someone else. But by now, everyone at the house likes Luke and they want to keep him. They decide to change the project. Since he knows about them, they are now going to try and help him get a date with Matteo. Matteo is an undergraduate at the same college. Luke has been smitten since he saw him but he is having trouble trying to make contact and connect. Whoever gives Luke the best dating advice will win the competition. This is their story. I really enjoyed this book. It is funny and made me smile. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. There are plenty of surprises in the story. And of course a great found family read. I look forward to more books by this author.

Luke should've ended up with the demons. Yes, all six of them. But especially with Azroth. THEY HAD SO. MUCH. CHEMISTRY. AND UGH, don't get me started on how fucking dull Matteo was, not because of him being human, but because the author thought that making him "nice" was giving him a whole personality. Newsflash, it was not. He was BORING, and are you fucking kidding me?? Making Luke end up with Matteo when THIS was how he interacted with Azroth??:

“𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱!” 𝘓𝘶𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘯𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥. “𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮. 𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦.”
𝘈𝘻𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩’𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥. “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨.”
“𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴.”

Yeah, so basically the fact that Matteo was the love interest was the real evil thing in this book. That, and that cringe as fuck kidnap sequence. The fuck was that?? I had to gazzlight myself into finishing this book since I have DNFed like 8 or 9 in the last few weeks and I wanted to finish SOMETHING.

I would've been okay with Matteo being an excuse for the demons to get closer to Luke, but he should NOT have been his final choice. THERE WAS NO SPARK THERE, for fuck's sake, and their whole relationship was too rushed and plain and annoying as shit. The only ounce of real character that Matteo showed was when he wanted the frat boys dead. If only he could've been more like that throughout the book, that would've been immensely better. But no. Also him torturing animals in the end?? Was I supposed to find that endearing? Yes you can be cruel to fucking assholes who threaten to kill you and basically almost do, but why squirrels and cats? The fuck?

The romance lacked (it was arguably even there) but the found family was awesome, and I liked the overall idea. IF ONLYYYYYYYYYY. The sex scenes could've been spared too imo

DEMON DATING SERVICE is a lighthearted book full of magical mishaps caused by well-meaning demons. It starts with them being bored and looking for a new game. One of them comes up with the idea of renting out a room to a local college student, and they take turns scaring the student. Sounds like a plan, right? Well, it would have worked except Luke is usually too exhausted and bone weary to be scared. Plus, he likes horror movies and is a nice person. Basically, they all love him and don't want to scare him any longer. So what they decide to do is help him with his crush on Matteo, and focus all their game on getting the two of them together.

This leads to plenty of laughs, mayhem, and the sheer wonderfulness that is this group of demons. I didn't want to get to the end of this book, due to the warm hug it was giving me as I read it. Each of the demons is fantastic in its own way, and Matteo and Luke fit right in. There is some nastiness with bullying, but that is also dealt with perfectly.

This was a great read that was brilliantly written and paced, and that kept me perfectly entertained. Definitely recommended by me. 4.5 rounded up.

Demon Dating Service was a hilarious and entertaining tale of how a house of demons helped a college student, Luke, find love. I first read this story in its serial form, and my enjoyment of the fully released book was just as good as my original readthrough. Luke was such a gentle and kindhearted man, and he never reacted to the demon's scares as they predicted. I was giggling nonstop at how perplexed the lot of them were by Luke, and little by little I watched them start to genuinely care for the man. When Azroth proposed a new spin on their game -- to help Luke woo Matteo -- I knew it was going to be a delightfully chaotic mess. I adored how awkward yet sweet Matteo and Luke were around each other, and I was rooting hard for the two of them to start dating. I'm not sure if the demons were more of a help or hindrance, but they sure were enthusiastic in their support. I was wondering how the group of them would handle bringing Matteo into the fold, but thanks to a nasty encounter with some bullies Luke had no choice but to reveal the truth sooner rather than later. All in all I was really pleased by the way things worked out in this story. Luke and Matteo's romance was really cute, the demons were wickedly entertaining, and the whole household felt like a safe space for all of them to be themselves!

I enjoyed the Lords of Discord series very much, so I thought this was a sure thing. I mean, demons, spooky houses, ravens, and a gay love story—what is not to love?
Sadly, this was rather disappointing.
There were things I liked, like the fact that our main character, Luke, didn’t fall in love with any of the demons but had a crush on a guy on campus. That was refreshing, to be honest.
But the book falls flat in most of the important areas: characters and plot.
While Luke was well written and fleshed out, the same can’t be said for his crush, his best friend, or even the demons. Maybe the problem was that there were seven of them, and this is a rather short book. I honestly can’t remember most of the demons’ names or characteristics.
The story is one we've read a hundred times before: a poor college student with bad luck somehow finds himself in a haunted house, makes friends with demons, and his life gets chaotic, but then, of course, so much better.
I don’t hate that kind of story; in fact, I enjoy it very much, but the thing is, I’ve seen it done better. Even the villains in this one aren’t very original and are caricatures of any homophobic jock asshole out there.
All in all, this is a fast but mediocre read. If you want to try a book by this author, I would recommend the Lords of Discord series, especially Waking Bel.
