Merry Kringle’s magic is on the fritz—and so is her love life.
Ever since that kiss with Frostbeard the Yeti at the Halloween Welcoming Ball, her powers have gone haywire. Her spells sputter, flurries follow her across campus, and enchanted mistletoe seems determined to drop into every doorway she passes. With finals looming, Merry’s one magical meltdown away from disaster—and the worst part? Her unruly powers seem tied to her emotions… which all lead straight back to him.
Frostbeard knows kissing Merry was a mistake—a dangerous, intoxicating, absolutely unforgettable mistake.
Pushing her away afterward was supposed to protect them both. But ever since, he’s been starving for another taste. Now she’s back, demanding his help, with desperation in her eyes. He should say no. Helping her get her magic under control is risky. For his heart. For his sanity. For his ability to keep his hands to himself. But the truth? He’s never wanted anyone the way he wants her—and resisting might just be impossible.
As Christmas nears, the tension between them heats to a breaking point. If they can’t untangle her powers—and their feelings—they’ll risk more than failed exams.
Because this isn’t just magic gone wild. This is a holiday romance with heat—and it might just burn them both.
Obviously, I loved that it’s a monster and brothers best friend/age gap romance. For those who have followed me for a while, you know these are basically crack for me 😉
I was really intrigued by the realm they live in (not the Human Realm), where there are holiday themed areas of the realm, similar to cities. I definitely went and looked at the past books in this interconnected standalone series and added them to my TBR. I need to read all the holidays!!
I really wasn’t sure how I would feel about the soft rejection of the FMC by the MMC (because…feelings), but I loved tf out of it! It made sense why Frostbear was so against a relationship with someone from a well-known family, even though he was assuming which we knew was incorrect, so I didn’t hold it against him…too much at least haha. But this soft rejection just made me yearn for their HEA more!!!
I loved exploring Merry’s mind in what she thought she could and couldn’t do socially in order to uphold her family name, the leaders of Christmas. Knowing she had this pressure made me feel for her, but her otherwise cheery attitude showed how strong she was even when faced with pressure. Further I loved how these perceived pressures came full circle with her mom defending her and making her believe in herself and her own path.
While we did have to wait for the spice (I say this as though it’s not a novella haha), it was worth the wait to hear Frostbeard’s dirty mouth 😉
Thank you to Jordyn Alexander for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
Hello, people! First of all, let me mention that this is a short story book that I loved very much. The protagonists are Merry and Frostbeard and they are a couple that exudes warmth, laughter and joy. I was crazy about the freshness of the author's writing, the sweetness, the cozy atmosphere and the Christmas atmosphere! It is truly one of the best books I have read on the theme of Christmas and the holidays. I fell in love with every part of the book, and that doesn't happen to me often! Definitely read it!
Another cute story in the holiday village romance series. Although it would have been nice for Frostbeard to call Merry something other than “princess” over and over. Looking forward to the next in the series!
The Mistletoe Mistake is another cute and cozy story in the Holiday Village Romance series.
FMC Merry Kringle is having trouble controlling her magic after an unexpected kiss with MMC Frostbeard at the Halloween ball. Magic has always come so naturally to Merry, and now seems to be controlled by her emotions. It is December, and Frostbeard has not been able to stop thinking about the kiss with Merry, even though he knows he should not. He is ten years older than her, and feels himself to be in a lower class. After Merry has a magical mishap during a class final, she heads over to Frostbeard's coffee shop to try and figure out how to re-gain control of her magic.
This story is just so festive, of course the Christmas neighborhood is Christmassy year round, but it is such a perfect read for December! Even through Merry's magic is misbehaving, I thought it was kind of cool that she unintentionally adorns her entire college with mistletoe, I mean who could be mad about mistletoe everywhere in December! And Frostbeard, who knew a yeti could sound like such a catch! Merry describes him as "just about the sexiest creature in Holiday Village. He's just so big, with wide shoulders and a thick, strong jaw. He towers over most of the other creatures..."
Merry and Frostbeard start to hang out as she is trying to figure out her magical mishaps. When Merry finally reveals what has been going on with her for the past 1.5 months to her mom, she learns of some family ancestry that she was not aware of. Now knowing the cause and solution to her magic problems, Merry must confront Frostbeard, and hope that his seeming lack of interest in her will change.
Also, the spice in this story is just perfect. You can only imagine such a large yeti would be rather well endowed...
Some fav quotes (*some spoilers in the quotes*): "Those lips, I groan, running a hand over my face and beard, trying to scrub away the memory of her lips under mine. That kiss haunts me."
"She thinks I don't like her?...Really I'm kind of obsessed with her. All my dreams are of her."
"I hold back a groan. Damn, why is hearing a dirty word coming from her sweet, princess mouth the most erotic thing I've ever heard? I swear, I get a little hard just from hearing it."
"I want him. I want him so badly I can barely breathe, my inner walls clenching on nothing and leaving me with frustrated lust. I want him fast and dirty."
""Is that what you want, princess? A monster who will chase you?""
"Glancing down, I take a peek at what he's packing and nearly choke on my tongue. He's freaking huge."
""Here I thought you were a nice girl, princess," growls Frostbeard seductively, "but you're a little but naughty, aren't you?""
Thank you so much to the author for a copy of this book!!
🖤 THE VIBE CHECK: Christmas Elf & Yeti Romance The Mistletoe Mistake had me smiling uncontrollably and falling in love with another couple from Holiday Village. It’s the COZIEST holiday romance between Santa’s perfectionist daughter and her older brother’s yeti friend.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
🎄 The Curated Plot Merry has to be perfect to help maintain her family’s image; this year is more important than ever. It’s her older brother Nick’s first year as Santa, he deserves the spotlight. Whatever is going on with her magic, Merry can deal with it quietly… right? It started when she kissed Nick’s friend, Frostbeard at the Halloween Welcoming Ball. Now, she can’t get him out of her mind and can’t get her magic under control.
🎁 Magical Christmas Market Almost Date I absolutely adore Frostbeard. He’s a hardworking yeti with strong family values. Perfect for our Christmas princess, Merry! He can be a giant grump, but he is also a teddy bear who is afraid to be hurt by another Christmas Elf. When Merry calls him needing help, he reschedules his business meetings for her and takes her to the Christmas Market! Merry can’t help but feel more like herself while wandering through the market with Frostbeard. He even remembers her hot cocoa order!
⭐ The Cozy Conclusion (Rated: 5/5 Curated Coziness) OBSESSED! I highly recommend The Mistletoe Mistake (and every Holiday Village Romances novella) if you are looking for a cozy, sweet, and spicy Christmas romance that will have you hooked from chapter one and smiling uncontrollably.
The Tropes We LOVE: • Cozy Romantasy • Christmas / Holiday Romance • Monster / Paranormal Romance • Age Gap / Cinnamon Roll • Elf & Yeti • Fated Mates / Grumpy x Sunshine
Favorite Quote:
"She makes me feel feral, like I’m inches away from losing control and doing something stupid." (Page 50)
I just adore this whole series by Jordyn, but this might be my favorite yet! I loved the two main characters, and I was ready for retribution to be had on a character. But the warm and fuzzies that came with the easy acceptance of the MMC. It has an eff it moment, which I’m always a fan of. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!
❤️ Tropes ❤️
💋 paranormal romance 💋 holiday romance 💋 monster romance (yeti!!) 💋 grumpy/sunshine 💋 age gap 💋 friend’s little sister
Merry is having a streak of bad luck. The guy she was apparently only friends with benefits with (unbeknownst to her) dumped her and started dating her cousin (and former best friend) Gina. And then, while she was hiding and wallowing at the Halloween ball, her crush came out and talked to her. She ended up kissing him and accidentally conjured some mistletoe. He pushed her away and now her magic is on the fritz. With her finals coming up at her magical university. Well, she can fix it. She is a Kringle after all.
The Mistletoe Mistake is exactly the kind of holiday novella I like to curl up with at this time of year. I love an age-gap, brother's friend romance and this one really hit for me.
Merry Kringle should be focusing on graduating after her last relationship ended badly, and good riddance to that jerk. She shouldn't be thinking about her brother's friend, Frostbeard, an attractive yeti ten years older than her. She definitely shouldn't be thinking about their kiss on Halloween, or the way he acted afterwards. Christmas is quickly approaching and Merry has exams to take and her magic is acting up at the worst time. So why can't she stop thinking about that hot yeti...
I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. Merry was really relatable in her quest to try and figure everything out herself, and the way she had to learn to accept help and support. And who better to lean on than a handsome older yeti? I enjoyed their road to their happiness and the spice along the way!
I absolutely love the Holiday Village and all the characters. This story was no different.
Merry Kringle is struggling controlling her magic after a kiss with Frostbeard and now she is facing some backlash at school too. She puts alot of pressure on herself to be perfect because of her family name and this is all just too much.
Frostbeard really likes Merry but the age difference and the fat they come from different family classes is preventing him from pursuing her so he pushes her away. He thinks he is doing the right thing, but all along it’s really not.
These two can’t stop thinking about one another, but neither one makes the first move at first. Finally Merry goes to her mother for advice and finds out the reason behind her magic mishaps. This leads her back to Frostbeard where things start to really heat up.
This is a great short and quick read that gives you the perfect amount of spice right at the end.
This Christmas romance adds a fun paranormal twist by pairing a Christmas elf with a UT, and it makes for a surprisingly cozy and enjoyable read. At the beginning, the male main character is honestly quite annoying, which makes the slow shift in his behavior even more satisfying as the story progresses. The female main character is dealing with the emotional fallout of a situationship that went from friends-with-benefits to nothing at all, and her struggle feels relatable and well portrayed. Watching her regain her footing while navigating new feelings adds emotional depth to the festive setting. Overall, this is a lovely paranormal Christmas romance with warmth, growth, and just the right amount of holiday magic. A great pick if you’re looking for something seasonal, light, and heartfelt.

This entire novella series is perfection. Cozy, with good world-building, and lovely HEAs!
Admittedly, I’m not the kind to veer towards Enemies to Lovers tropes, because I don’t like meanness or cruelty when this person is ostensibly going to be very important one day.
That said, thankfully that bit wasn’t over developed, so major damage wasn’t done. These two are both golden retrievers, even if Frostbeard is painted as a grumbling black cat. Their dynamic is precious, and they both push each other in healthy ways - which is a nice bit of depth to add to a story that has to stay fairly compact!
I can’t wait to read the next - based on the title I think we’re heading into Easter’s neighborhood!! 🙌
Book 5 of Holiday Village Romances series. This book is about Merry and Frostbeard. With Merry's magic going awry, Frostbeard seems to be the only one to help. They get close to one another but past fears are holding them back. I enjoyed that everyone's fears were proven wrong, Merry always felt she had to be perfect, and Frostbeard was worried that everyone would see him as not good enough due to a past hurt. I thought it was super cute that Frostbeard would drop everything to help Merry, and that Merry's mom proved that she is always on her side. Merry and Frostbeard are perfect for one another, and it was enjoyable to watch them fall in love.

I really enjoyed this book and had such a great time reading it. The Christmas-themed romance between Merry and Frostbeard was incredibly cute, festive, and definitely spicy in all the right ways. 🎄🔥
The “brother’s best friend” trope adds just the right amount of tension, making the relationship feel complicated but also very natural as everything slowly falls into place. The emotional moments and the romantic buildup worked perfectly together, keeping me fully engaged.
Overall, this was a very entertaining and easy-to-read story—perfect for the holiday season if you’re looking for something cozy, romantic, and a little spicy.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.
This was super cute! A surprising amount of plot was packed into this little novella. Classicism, past relationship trauma, grappling with perfectionism. Merry’s big heart. Frostbeard’s gruff exterior and always putting his foot in his mouth even though he was gone for Merry the entire time. Loved mama Kringle both giving Merry the best pep talk - telling her she doesn’t need to be perfect - standing up to the Dean, and telling Gina off. The spice felt a little out of nowhere after all the sweet, but I’m knot complaining 🤷🏻♀️
Book 5 of the Holiday Village Romances series. This series just gets better and better.
'After a disaster of a kiss, a Christmas elf's magic goes haywire. The only fix? Reaching out to the yeti she swore never to talk to again.'
The characters were very well written and developed. World building continues to excel. Plot was well thought out and straightforward. Another great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

It's Christmas season indeed! I am so excited to read Merry and Frostbeard's story, and what better time than a few days before Christmas! Merry is sweet and adorable and it's obvious Frostbeard adores her even when he's trying to keep her at a distance.
Side note: When Jynx popped into the story, I was thinking I really hope Jordyn Alexander does her story soon. GUESS WHAT?! Be sure to read the bonus chapter.
Fully built world, Christmas magic, and build of family and steamy age gap romance all in a novella sign me up! Holiday novellas aren’t alway amazing reads, but Jordyn hit the sweet spot! I loved Frostbeard and his grumpy and trying to stay away, Merry was every overachiever when things start to get out of hand and in 100 pages there was a twist I didn’t see coming! Loved this, great read and totally did this all in one sit!!
Christmas royalty and a Yeti. Who would have known. Another cute addition to the Holiday Village Romances. A very quick read that keeps you turning pages.
The Christmas neighborhood is so festive. Perfect read for the holidays. With Merry and Frostbeard each thinking they aren't good enough for the other they find out differently when fate shows them the way.
This is the 5th Holiday Romance book. You don't have to read them in order. There are cameos from other couples but it doesn't mess with the story. It just makes you want to go back and read the others.
Another great read from Jordyn. I’ll never get tired of diving back into the Holiday Village to kick-start my seasonal vibes — it truly feels like wrapping yourself in a festive blanket and settling in with something warm and familiar. The Mistletoe Mistake delivers everything I’ve come to love about this series: cosy magic, charming characters, and that unmistakable holiday sparkle woven through every page. Jordyn has such a knack for creating a world that feels both whimsical and comforting, making it the perfect escape when you’re craving festive fantasy with heart.
This book was so good! I loved that the characters were not only from different holiday villages, but also social ladders. There was the perfect amount of chaos and drama in the book! I love how the chaos was written in this book. An elf with wonky magic is perfect! There was also spice! The spice was spicy once it built up and let loose. I can’t wait until the next book!
An entertaining enough short story with hurt, rejection, insensitivity, jealousy, misconception, support from the ones that matter, and finally, a lasting connection made from the right perspective and for the right reasons.

Aaahhh this was so fun, I adore the Holiday Village Romances and the Mistletoe Mistake was a wonderful addition! A quick, sweet & spicy read! If you haven’t checked out this series of novellas yet - you should!
🎄 Tropes 🎄 ❤️ brother’s best friend 💚 age gap ❤️ Santa’s daughter FMC 💚 Yeti MMC ❤️ knotting 💚 magic gone haywire
Another lovely seasonal read. Merry and Frostbeard are our couple and they have a slight issue to address. Merry's magic playing up and his need to stay back, while still desiring her. A kiss started their journey and now they have to come together to solve the slight hiccup in their lives. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another sweet and steamy holiday tale with some adorable characters and silly mishaps. The romantic couple were fun to follow, although I wasn't as impressed with the antagonist--perhaps a bit too childish for me. As always, Mrs. Claus rocks!
It is amazing how this author makes a novella read like a full novel. You get so much in such a short read, without it being crammed or overwhelming. The main characters, Merry and Frostbeard are so lovable, you can't help rooting for their HEA. I have read this entire Holiday Village series so far and love the way this fictional community is set up. The stories are funny, engaging, charming and certainly page turning. They are interconnected, but individual stories. I highly recommend this entire series, and in this book, Frostbeard has my heart.

Frostbeard and Merry! Loved this little Christmas story 🥰 I just love a commoner vs royal/old money story line, especially when the FMC from royalty/old money acts completely out of character from the stereotype.
I. AM. OBSESSED. This series literally makes me drop everything and binge each new holiday story. I loooooved this Christmas fairy and yeti love story! And fated mates? You can pick my body up off the floor whenever.

THOUGHTS:
❤️The thing about these holiday novella romances is that they just aren’t long enough. I’d love for the romance connection between the characters to really have time sizzle and develop—I’m a slow burn girly. SO novellas always leave a little to be desired.
❤️There is a missing link with the brother never approaching frostbeard about his sister. It is a missed opportunity to add tension. It is also weird that they are best friends but we never see them together or conversing on the phone/text/in passing—even in Frostbeard’s POV.
❤️I liked the follow through on Frostbeard’s goal to open a second coffee shop location.
❤️The low-key date but “not a date” at the market was adorable—plus Frostbeard shows his protective jealous side. 🔥
❤️Forstbeard felt more developed than Merry when it came to backstory and false beliefs. His past directly plays into how he reacts towards Merry.
❤️Characters have an interesting grumpy sunshine dynamic. Also, Merry’s calm and collected perfectionist ways are challenged by the effect Frostbeard has on her. She becomes impulsive for him and runs to him despite the uncertainties between them.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked how a surprise kiss ends in love for Merry and Frostbeard once they get past some issues. I liked that they were fated mates. I hope her cousin receives some punishment for her actions.
