"I have plotted the way forward for this species. For this world. For all of us. I do not do this out of anger, but of love. I do not do this for love of power, but hatred of it. I was charged with ensuring the survival of the fittest. I am ensuring the survival of everyone." - Revelation
A much more interesting conclusion than I expected, one that opens up real possibilities. Will Marvel’s editorial team know how to capitalise on them? Nothing is less certain.
I must admit, however, that I rather enjoyed this event. Let’s be clear: I’m talking about the core issues, and *Amazing X-Men* only. The rest of the tie-ins are completely dispensable. I enjoyed Omega Kids, Binary and Cloak & Dagger, but they add nothing to the main storyline. The rest range from bad to worse – both in terms of script and art – and give the impression that the editorial team gave the writers free rein to hastily concoct dystopian scenarios that absolutely had to be wrapped up in three issues and that’s that.
"It's unconceivable. But it also made what came next easier. Because compared to that, anything else I did in the pursuit of my goal, no matter how unforgivable, was small potatoes. Because now I had to succeed. I had to. I have to. Because otherwise? I killed all those people for nothing."
A little lackluster of a finale, but it’s clear this event will have consequences in the current timeline. I really enjoyed the unexpected suprise ending.
