Alaska, one of my favorite settings, and Fiona as a bush pilot and survivor of a tragic past, give ON THIN ICE a jumpstart at suspense. Salt that thin ice with a prison escapee, determined to make Fiona pay for her testimony that put him into prison…and the problems mount. Enter: a Federal agent who has known Fiona since she was fourteen, and plans to catch the criminal before he harms Fiona. But things get complicated, especially when Caleb falls for this woman he’s always admired. Together, Fiona and Caleb are strong, smart, and creative in their efforts to snare the enemy, but they seem stymied at every turn. What will it take to eradicate evil from Fortune, Alaska? Another page turner from Gallant. Set aside the time now for a great read!

The story grabs you from the first sentence and never lets go. After experiencing a devastating trauma at a young age, Fiona has forged a new life in the Alaskan wilderness with remarkable resilience and grit. When the murderer she helped send to prison years earlier escapes and comes seeking revenge, she's determined to put an end to the threat once and for all. Fortunately, she has the help of neighbors and friends, her grandfather, and especially the deputy U.S. marshal who, as a young teen, had supported her on the worst day of her life. Their relationship blossoms, despite the pressure of constant threat.

With relentless pacing, one of the creepiest villains I've read, and breathtaking descriptions of the Alaskan scenery, this is one book you won't soon forget.

I’m so glad Jannine Gallant has started a new series. I don’t know if the entire series will be set in Alaska, but I’m pleased this one is. I love a setting that is so real, it’s a character of the book. We are treated to a breathtaking opening for young Fiona. When it all starts to unravel years later, the action is nonstop and romance seeps in. This is an entertaining read for sure.
