Is there anything better than a friends to lovers story? Not for me, especially when Carrie Ann Ryan is writing it!

Miles and Nessa have been friends for a while, which means Miles had a front row seat to Nessa's crush on their friend which wasn't reciprocated. They have also watched as some of their friends/roommates have fallen for one another, but Nessa is determined not to fall for one of the guys so she starts to see someone. Big Mistake, HUGE Mistake! But that's okay because Miles always has his eyes on her and is definitely worthy of the Superman moniker not only because of his Clark Kent good looks either.

I loved that we got to know more about Miles, he was always the quite one in the bunch but you knew there was more to his story and now we find out just how much more. Beware folks I don't think you'll see this one coming.

I really enjoyed watching Miles and Nessa move their friendship into something more, they have great chemistry but beyond that they have a wonderful foundation of friendship and respect for one another that they will be able to navigate through whatever is thrown at them.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys New Adult Romances, the Friends to Lovers trope and the Opposites Attract Trope, as well as those that enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

My favorite story in the On My Own series so far! Miles and Nessa are just adorable together, and I found their love story to be so relatable- the challenges of timing, being ready to explore something with someone when they aren't there yet, the perils of growing up and making adult decisions, all factors that play into if someone is the "one." And because of her other relationship challenges and Miles always being the friend to pick her up, Nessa never didn't see what was right in front of her all along. Their hearts both had to be open, and the timing had to be right before they could invest in each other. Miles is just a DREAMBOAT, I just adored him, and I ended up appreciating Nessa too- though at first I was was like just snatch this dreamy man up! We also have some suspense/danger with a creepy ex and continued MVP support from the secondary characters. Another great addition to this series!

Miles has been watching Nessa for a while. He's seen her watching someone else. When Nessa's crush falls in love with her friend, Miles comforts her and they kiss. Nessa doesn't remember it cause she was drunk, and starts dating a new guy (who turns out to be a creeper). Miles again saves her, and this time something more happens. They develop a relationship but Nessa pushes him away. Miles persists and true love wins in the end.

I can't wait for the last of the room mates to hook up and fall in love.

My Next Play is a friends to lovers romance that has us drawn into the story of Nessa and Miles. Nessa is still suffering from a broken heart and a touch of embarrassment as Miles offers her a shoulder to cry on. Nessa has sworn off relationships and Miles wants to show his hand to her that he is the one she really has been searching for. As trust, friendship and struggles in life play out these two will be pushed to their limits to decide whether taking that jump from friendship to forever is worth the risk. Their is plenty of drama to have you on the edge of your seat along with a touch of angst to have you holding your breath. Their story is emotional and heartfelt and at times will leave your own heart aching for this couple. The push and pull between these two can be felt through the words on the page as confusion and fear play out against the love that is burning bright between them. Nessa and Miles will hold your heart in the palm of their hands as they put it through a storm of emotions to finally reach the happiness they both deserve.

My Next Play is Book 3 of Carrie Ann Ryan's On My Own series. This book was phenomenal! After the teaser at the end of Book 2, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Miles and Nessa's story. It certainly did not disappoint. Ms. Ryan does not pull any punches with any of her stories.

I've been in a bit of a reading funk lately struggling to find anything to hold my attention and this book did the trick! I struggled to put it down. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I couldn't read as fast as I wanted to but hey it gave me a bit more time to savor the story. As for that ending, aaahhhh, now I desperately need the next book in the series! Please write faster!!

Nessa thought she was in love with her bestfriend but he didn't feel the same way & it turnout that that it was a crush. She gets drunk one night because of it & ends up kissing Miles. Miles can't stop thinking about Nessa & the kids she gave him, but won't make a move on her till one night when she gets home & is attacked my a men she went out with!
This book is about them finding their way to each other & the events when Nessa is stalked. Carrie Ann at her best keeping you hooked right to the end with a HEA!

Miles Fraser wishes Nessa would notice him, but as the quiet nerdy guy of the bunch he feels like she doesn’t see him in the same way she sees his roommates. When he comes to her rescue, he decides it’s time he makes sure she sees who he really is and hope she will take a chance on a relationship with him.

Miles has kept himself pretty well closed off from the roommates, keeping his history a secret. They all knew he was hiding something, with his nightmares and brushoffs, but he hadn’t shared his story and they hadn’t pushed yet. But as he opens up to his friends, he also realizes things about the situation he hadn’t been able to see before and recognizes that he needs to make some changes in order to heal and move on himself.

I love these two. They each had reasons for keeping to themselves and had to work through feelings around Nessa’s former crush on Pacey. Once they had addressed that issue, they still had the uncertainty of future plans hanging over their heads. Nessa had some additional planning stress as her financial status was in question as well. They were friends first and I loved the way they relied on the friendship to build their relationship.

This series has introduced a great group of friends who have created an extended family within their 2 houses. This one felt like it focused more on the relationships between the guys, especially as Miles started to open up about his past, but still had plenty of interaction from the girls. This group of friends (and now mostly couples) have created 2 households that support each other through whatever comes their way. I can’t wait for the final couple in the houses to have their day in My Bad Decisions!

This book is about Miles and Nessa. I recommend reading the previous books because one leads to the next. I was a little lost on a situation that obviously happened in another book that bled into this one.

Miles and Nessa are really good friends. Under drunken circumstances, these two kiss. Only Nessa is pretending she doesn't remember and Miles is doing the same. There is a lot of baggage with these two and I loved what a solid force Miles is for Nessa. This is definitely a friend zone to lovers book. Once these two finally give into their feelings for each other, it was so much fun to watch. There are some pretty funny moments as well as some pretty steamy scenes! I will be going back to read previous books and any future ones!

4 star review My Next Play (On My Own #3) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Miles has had feelings for Nessa for a long time but she has never seen him in this way. This friends to lovers story was a good addition to the series and had me invested from the first chapter.
I was drawn into the story that Ms. Ryan wove about Miles and Nessa. When Nessa is devastated that the man she has fallen for has fallen for her friend, Miles believes that the time is right for her to finally see the real him.
My Next Play was well written with characters who are easy to relate too. As Miles lends Nessa a shoulder to cry on, they will cross the line. The question is will it ruin their friendship or be the start of an amazing journey.
You’ll have to one click to find out.

I love this series! The fact that these roommates are finding their own romance while studying and becoming mature adults is so great. Nessa has had her heart broken since she had a crush on Pacey and he was with her friend Mackenzie, now she is moving on and worrying about money and whether she will keep enrolling in her last year of college. Miles has a trauma at home and is also trying to move on choosing grad schools and deciding what to do with his grieving parents.
They are not meant to be together but their attraction is so strong and powerful that is not possible to be apart. Once again Carrin Ann Ryan manages to write a wonderful story about friendship, caring, trauma and love! I just loved it!

It's complicated when you want and are attracted to someone who doesn't reciprocate or have knowledge of your feelings towards them. This book is another romance of a friend zone devolving as both Miles and Nessa face troubles in their past as well as their current time. Family struggles, abusive jerks and awkwardness are hurtles they face to get to that good stuff! A great Sunday afternoon read.

My heart broke for what both Miles and Nessa had been through and how each was facing their future. I liked that they had each other as friends as well as the larger group, but also was glad when things became more for them. They were good together, so I hated it when Nessa ran scared, hated it even more when the terrible thing happened, but at least they could save each other. I think this one ended in a way that is good for them as a couple.

Carrie Ann Ryan has done it again! My Next Play is Miles and Nessa’s story and as with each book by this author I couldn’t help but fall for her characters as they wrestle with self-esteem and life. They manage to find love among the turmoil. A heartwarming addition to the series but can be read standalone.

Although Nessa and Miles are friends, they are both secretly harboring much stronger feelings for the other. Nessa is recovering from her feelings for her friend Pacey and isn’t ready to admit she has feelings for her friend Miles. Miles isn’t going to share with Nessa that he has feelings for her either since he is convinced she still has feelings for Pacey. It’s a beautiful journey as they come together and finally share their feelings. A great addition to this series!

Love to continue on with the series. Carrie Ann has a wonderful writing style. Nice to see the interconnected characters. The story comes alive from the first page until the end. I like to go into a story blind so will not be giving any details here. It can be read as a standalone but I would recommend to read all in the series. Myles is a sweet guy.
Stephen and Emma are two of my favorite narrators. They have a special unique style to their narration.
Looking forward to the next story.

Wow, Miles and Nessa are just the cutest couple. I love their inner monologues, it is the best. I love that we finally get to “meet and get to know” the quiet and nerdy Miles for the first time, he is so damn lovable. Has some dark moments in his past that he is running from. Getting to learn his past and what makes him the man that he is today, a true friend that Nessa can lean on whenever she needs him. Once they finally gave in to the attraction that everyone could see, they are so good for each other. I’m so happy they both finally worked though their demons that haunted them and realized that they can face anything together. Also I just love seeing how well the friend group have created their own family group, and the razing, jokes and love is just amazing. I love seeing all whatever one is up to. All the comments about how much they hate college, why am I taking this class? Why do I need to be a well rounded human being? I totally had those same thoughts it took me back to my college days. Thank you for bring it full circle for me! I absolutely can not wait for Tanner’s book especially with all the hints that you dropped throughout the book, I know that it is going to be a doozie, I can not wait.

Audiobook Review:

I recently had the opportunity to listen to My Next Play by Carrie Ann Ryan and I loved it! Narrated by Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder, they truly brought to life this sweet, charming, and emotional friends to lovers story. Miles has always noticed Nessa, but she never really saw him, until now. When she needs help, he is there for her. They each had issues they were working through separately that affected who they are. As friends, they learn to lean on each other and soon become more. Could they find what they were always looking for? I am loving this series! This is a great read and/or listen!

Happy listening!

Nessa and Miles are friends who are attracted to each other. They are both struggling with family issues and refusing to talk about them. Nessa needs help with some classes and Miles helps her. Of course we have drama because they are still in college… but that’s ok. They are all trying to plan for their futures. We get glimpses of the other relationships in the house. Also…. The last chapter!!!!! OMG!!!

Nessa and Miles didn’t mean to have a relationship, but things happen! These two were friends first, and after the recent disaster Nessa made with her best friend, she doesn’t want to take that chance again. Miles has been sitting on the sidelines quietly seeing Nessa, but doing nothing about it. The chemistry between them has them acting ‘just for now’. But as these two spend more time together, they learn more about the other, and they can’t hold back the emotions. There are a lot of them, varied and strong, as neither is coming from a happy place. They feel at ease and calm when with each other and that is both scary and comforting to them both. They figure things out though, and they were a joy to read as they did so <3

I really enjoyed this story! The characters were great and I loved getting to see Nessa and know her better. We saw more of her in the last book, Mackenzie and Pacey's, as she had a crush on Pacey that they were dealing with. It was great to see her truly past that and moving on from the awkwardness that she felt regarding it. Miles has a crush on Nessa but he hasn't really let it be known. They had a little thing happen when Nessa was drunk and Miles was taking care of her with a missed kiss that when it finally comes out it allows them to realize they are both drawn to each other. Miles and Nessa both have a lot that they are dealing with from outside influences with financial and family things. They have to figure out how to move forward with all of it amidst Nessa getting a stalker. I loved the way that things developed between these two characters. They were trying not to develop feelings as neither wanted to get hurt or hurt the other person with school coming to an end and not knowing exactly where there paths were taking them and feeling overwhelmed with everything going on. It felt real and believable and really drew you to these characters as you just wanted them to take the chance with each other since they fit so well together. This was a fantastic story that pulled me in from beginning to end and I can't wait to get the next book in the series with the last roommates as well.

What happens when you’re attempting to move on from a crush on your roommate’s now boyfriend?

In addition to realizing you may have feelings for one of his roommates? Who has feelings for you?

Add in various family dramas and secrets—you get the premise of ‘My Next Play’.

Both Nessa and Miles have family ‘issues’ that pop up, giving insight into both characters. I like how Nessa had ‘ties’ to the Denver Montgomerys even before she met Dillon (who has ties to the Colorado Spring Montgomerys), and weaved a little of that world into the book.

Are Nessa and Miles strong enough to weather the combined storms of their families and the other dangers facing them? The answers lie within the pages of ‘My Next Play’.

I give the latest entry of the ‘On My Own’ series, five out of five stars and can’t wait for the final book that will be featuring Tanner and Natalie.

Book 3 in On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan narrated by Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder.
This book is about Nessa and miles both original characters and all the other books in the series and it carries on from the previous book. So in the previous book Nessa eventually tells Pacey that She loves him but thankfully it does work itself out a little bit and Nessa Realises that it she’s not in love with him but the idea of it and family in this book seems to get over it very quickly and starts a very slow burning relationship with miles. Really love how everything built them between them especially with the fact that Miles clearly had a thing for Nessa in the previous book especially when he was about to beat up Pacey for his part in breaking heart.
Also with Carrie Ann Ryan but she always have a element of torture a little bit and some miles his was quite distinctive but I did feel that it was overdone maybe a little bit yes what happened to him was awful and he could say that he might of had a play part to play in it personally I think maybes whole family need to go to therapy instead of just blaming Miles so this did get a little bit old for me especially as it was re-done over and over and over again Through the story eventually thankfully did come to a conclusion at the end of the book and hopefully we can move on from his torture or his faults as he felt he had. This is the first time I’ve listened to Stephen Dexter as a narrator didn’t like him and he did try and pull off a British accent but not very well personally mostly to do with the fact that if the original Pacey in the books was narrated by Shane East who is a fantastic British narrator very drool worthy. Emma Wilder is actually one of my favourite female narrators and to be honest could probably pulled this book off on the road was nice to have a mail in there I just wish that they would do it as a dual narration I think it’s called when one reads guys I’m en route to females but I quite like that but to be honest Emma Wilder is absolutely amazing as the narrator.
Absolutely loved the epilogue Cannot wait for the next book in the series absolutely love Carrie Ann Ryan I love that she writes a lot of genres just finished her new witch series and it is amazing.

My Next Play is the third book in the On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan. It can be read on its own, but returning readers will have a head start on understanding the characters and relationship dynamics.

What happens when you fall for your best friend, but they fall in love with someone else? Nothing is what it seems in this unrequited love, new adult romance. Miles knew Nessa never had eyes for him. Only when someone new tries to hurt her, he knows he can’t stand back any longer. It’s time she finds out the man he is behind the glasses and beneath the shell he wrapped himself in. But now he has to hope that once she sees the real him, she’ll stay. Because he doesn’t want to let go, even if someone else tries to make that choice for them both.

My Next Play is a contemporary romance with dynamic characters and high tension on a number of levels. I have not read the previous books in this series, but I have read other books by the author set in the same area, and recognized some of the secondary characters. I think that dedicated readers of the author in general, and series in particular, will already know about the tension between Nessa and the guy roommates in the series as well as some of the more serious issues that are mentioned. However, the author does a good job of giving enough information to remind returning readers with out rehashing past plots too much and giving new readers the information they need to get context for current story lines. This balance can be hard, but Ryan nailed it here. I liked the tension between Nessa and Miles, and really enjoyed the use communication, consent, and heat between them. The worries and issues they each had to face, not even including their relationship, were hard and a big part of their characters even when they tried not to share it. The character depth and growth was very well done. I thought the tension level of the book was high, I spent most of the book waiting for the big moment, and there were a couple time jumps that had me going back a page worried that I had missed a clue or big moment. I also loved the secondary characters, and now I want to go back and catch up on what I missed, and see what happens next with the whole group.

My Next Play is a highly engaging romance with great characters.

My Next Play (On My Own Book 3)
By: Carrie Ann Ryan

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Thirds times charm!!

In the 3rd book in the On Your Own series we get a front road seat to Nessa and Miles and this friends to everything love story. We get angst and fear and pride all in two prideful soles. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: What happens when you fall for your best friend, but they fall in love with someone else? Nothing is what it seems in this unrequited love, new adult romance.

Miles knew Nessa never had eyes for him. Only when someone new tries to hurt her, he knows he can’t stand back any longer. It’s time she finds out the man he is behind the glasses and beneath the shell he wrapped himself in.

But now he has to hope that once she sees the real him, she’ll stay. Because he doesn’t want to let go, even if someone else tries to make that choice for them both.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

My Next Play by Carrie Ann Ryan (On My Own #3)... 3 Maple Leafs

“I want to be by your side as we figure out the mess that is our lives.”

Miles has always been know as the quiet and nerdy roommate. After a car accident took his sister's life, he has buried himself in school work. Miles has crushed on Nessa all through college but never thought he was good enough for her.

Nessa is finally starting to get back to normal after her best friend she was crushing on fell for her other friend. She finds herself crushing on Miles, one of the other roommates, but keeps telling herself she can not fall for another roommate.

After Nessa goes on a couple of dates that don't go well but the guy does not get the message and tries to hurt her, Miles knows he just can not stand in the background anymore. Miles and Nessa start spending more time together studying which eventually leads to more but someone else has plans to keep them apart.

I hate writing reviews like this but I struggled with this book right from the beginning. Between all of the insecurities and the constant woe is me feeling from both Miles and Nessa, I was surprised I actually finished the book. I did feel sorry for Miles and what he went through just before college. Once Miles and Nessa finally came together, their chemistry was off the charts.

Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder did do a good job of narrating the book and bringing the story to life.

Genre/Trope... Friends to Lovers
