Following only a short reprieve back home, Katrina and Andrew are once again thrust into the violent conflict of a now-divided Indraea. Katrina finds Cade now in line for the throne of the newly formed nation of Fogshire . . . and he is willing to go to any lengths, no matter how diabolical, to secure that future for himself.
After learning the horrifying truth about his family, Cade is left reeling. He has one last chance to face Corwin and end the bitter struggle . . . but is this revenge truly one he can live with?
Meanwhile, as Corwin fights for his people’s future—and his family’s freedom—Andrew finds himself coming face-to-face with the most painful aspect of his past. Can he rescue the person he cares most about, or will the revealing of a secret destroy him forever?
Hannah Gaudette is a home-school graduate living in the hills of New England. When she’s not writing or playing with the dogs, it’s a safe bet you can find her with a camera in her hands, vlogging her daily life on a farm. She is a life enthusiast, passionate about Jesus, family, and, of course, telling stories.
Hannah Gaudette has created an excellent sequel to Divide. Katrina and Andrew are again sucked through the portal, but this time they land in the middle of a warzone. Corwin and Cade are fighting for control of Indraea, as well as their own demons.
This is a story about the very real struggle to forgive. It doesn’t gloss over or trivialise the hard stuff, and I appreciated seeing the very real angst of all the characters as they wrestled with what to do with their wrecked or broken lives. The tension in the story built well, and the transformation of the characters felt earnt. Hannah knows how to squeeze powerful emotions out of the written word, and create characters and a world that feels real.
Declare by Hannah Gaudette is a fantastic installment in the One Light Trilogy. Once again, Katrina and Andrew find themselves trapped and torn apart in a fantasy land. The stakes are ever-rising as war closes in, sending readers on a thrilling journey back to Indraea.
Wow! This was an exceptional installment in The One Light Trilogy. The characters in this one were so raw, each driven to extremes that push them so far out of their comfort zones. The author doesn't hold back in this one! My favorite character is Cade and I won't apologize for that haha.
Couldn't put this book down and I can't wait for the next one!
A great read. Each main character is someone you can relate to in some way. Each one struggles with bad decisions, choices that have unintended results, and yes, even redemption. Great pace, world building, tension yet growth of all the characters. Realistic in a fantasy setting. Loved it!
