A Holiday Romance with Heart, Hope, and a Hint of Mystery by Nancy Naigle, USA Today Bestselling Author of Christmas in Chestnut Ridge and Christmas Joy as seen on Hallmark Channel.
Hannah Leigh Parker never planned on spending Christmas back in South Hill, Virginia—but when a career setback sends her home to regroup, helping her Aunt Winnie with the town’s holiday festivities seems like the perfect distraction. With twinkle lights to hang and events to organize, she’s determined to keep things merry and bright… even if the mayor is as prickly as last year’s Christmas tree.
Nate Collier’s roots run deep in South Hill. A steady craftsman and the reluctant nephew of that same prickly mayor, he’s content to work behind the scenes. At least that's the case until Hannah blows back into town with big-city drive and a clipboard full of cheer.
Then a century-old keepsake is discovered beneath South Hill’s legendary dogwood tree—a long-lost locket tied to a love story that never found its happy ending. As Hannah and Nate help unravel the mystery behind the letter the old dogwood tree once sheltered, the past and present begin to weave together like the garlands strung through town. Each clue draws them closer, not only to the truth of the old love story, but also to a second chance of their own.
With cocoa served by the tub, carols floating from the Colonial Theater’s centennial celebration, and a community “Lost Love Board” brimming with hope, Christmas in South Hill is about more than decorations and lights. It’s about the memories we treasure, the promises we keep, and the love stories waiting to be written.
Welcome to South Hill—where a simple keepsake can change everything, and Christmas has a way of mending what you didn’t know was broken.

South Hill’s Christmas season comes to life as you join the townspeople. Some people carry heart aches, while others seek forgiveness, or a new path for life.
But the season lights up as old stories come together and new life paths make their way clear.
i like this one. it felt like a hallmark story, but... not. the mystery was fresh and new and how it all played out, didn't feel cookie-cutter like every other hallmark story. i won't spoil it, but i do love how there were layers to the mystery around the Dogwood and the mulitple love stories unfolding over the years. Nancy Naigle really struck that balance between something fresh and new, and old and comforting.
A very interesting story with many characters. Human characters, a town, a tree, a holiday, and much, much more.
I love stories that include towns and all the people and stories that are included in it.
It had joy, happiness, a lightness, and some sad goings-on. Just an all-around fun book filled with the Christmas spirit and events that are a part of a town’s Christmas season.
From the beginning, I was drawn in by the friendliness and love in the town of South Hill. While reading the story, I could smell the Christmas trees, the scent of hot cocoa, and baked cookies. The possiblities of love renewed, love that was lost and found, and blossoming new love, brought me smiles and happy tears. This book should be a movie. Another great story by author Nancy Naigle.
Being very close to South Hill VA I had to read this and I was so impressed with this read. Naigle has done it again. Small town romance at its best. This is fast read but you will fall in love with the characters along the way.
An absolutely delightful novel for the Christmas season. Naigle has once again given us a heart-warming story that warms the heart and makes us laugh. It is a holiday tale yet can be read at any time of the year. Do read this and enjoy!
Love Nancy Naigle books and this story was sweet. However the massive number of editorial misses was both unusual for her books and distracted from the storyline. If you can “read” through the grammar, spelling, incomplete and run-on sentences, you’ll enjoy the story.
I received this as a Christmas present. I had to finish another book first. I loved this story. This second chance story that was filled with other second chances, A nice town to visit in December and enjoy a wonderful Christmas.
