I knew a small-town Christmas romance would be cute, but this one grabbed me immediately.

This story balances spice, sweetness, and emotional depth in a way that keeps you turning the pages. Ivy starts out stuck with Scott, who treats her terribly and feeds her anxiety, and watching her bloom once Hunter steps into her life is so satisfying. Hunter has all the book-daddy charm you could want. He is protective, attentive, and shows Ivy exactly what it feels like to be valued. Holly comes in like a warm spark, adds an entirely new dynamic, and the way the three of them connect feels natural and intense.

The small town vibe gives the whole story a cozy holiday feel, but it never shies away from real emotional layers. Ivy’s growth is one of the best parts. She finds her confidence, learns her worth, and becomes comfortable with her desires without apology. Hunter is the steady, green-flag foundation she has never had, and Holly brings softness, curiosity, and her own quiet strength. Their chemistry is charged from the start and only gets hotter once River joins the mix. Between the found family energy, the community moments, and the tension between all four characters, it is the kind of story you fly through without realizing how long it is.

Even with all the spice, the plot has heart. The pacing moves quickly, the banter is fun, and the emotional beats land in a way that makes you root for everyone involved. It is festive, sexy, and surprisingly tender.

If you want a holiday romance with tension, small-town charm, and a whole lot of heat, this one is such a good time.

Thank you, K. M. Avery and her Team, for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

This was such a fun time! It was a good balance of smut and a good story line. We all need a book daddy like Hunter! The way he treats Ivy like a queen…

The premise revolves around Ivy, who is dating Scott and he does not treat her well. She suffers from anxiety and panic attacks and doesn’t know what it’s like to be treated right. In comes Hunter Scott’s step father who ends up falling for Ivy. He is a billionaire, big into the community and BDSM. Now we also have Holly a local shop owner who befriends Ivy and falls for her as well, and is brought into this trouple dynamic.

The pacing was fast paced and things moved quickly between the characters. But, the spice was spicing and the banter was good! I will say this was a really long book tho and didn’t need to be. Other than that it was entertaining and I had a fun time!

If you’re wanting a holiday romance, with banter, tension and spice def check this one out! Check your trigger warnings!

Thank you to KM Avery for this ARC!

Spice level, Spicy. 🥵

You have love, lust, hurt, betrayal, longing, infatuation. All while a few town people do everything in their power to do everything they can for their small town.

While some may not have agreed with the lifestyle they chose, at the end, minus one b!tchy mother 🙄 the town people realized what everyone should in life. It ain’t about them, it’s about the people in the relationship.

This book had a lot of potential. I loved how everyone in the town pulled together to help and had holiday spirit. But, I feel like I loved the town more than the MC’s. They were so busy helping the town that there wasn’t time to build the chemistry and connection between the relationships. I think Hunt needed to have more conversations and check in’s with his submissives instead of blindly making decisions (some permanent) and demanding they follow through. The dynamics between them were confusing because they were too busy to discuss things, like rules and boundaries. It’s just not safe kink. Also, adding member to their polycule almost immediately after being a possessive ass by disregarding his feelings, threatening him out of their lives and this is someone who is supposed to be a friend…doesn’t really capture the poly spirit.

✨ Description

The Book Daddy follows Ivy Rose, who dreads spending Christmas and New Year’s in the small, snowy town of Maple Brook Falls with her long-term boyfriend, and his stepfather. Her holiday plans take a shocking turn when Hunter, the stepfather, finds himself drawn to her before he even meets her, and the moment they finally do meet, he knows she’s the woman he wants. Against the backdrop of festive lights, quirky small-town charm, and familial expectations, the story explores unexpected attraction, complicated relationships, and the way heat and heart can build in the unlikeliest places.

💬 Review (Spoilers Ahead!)

The Book Daddy surprised me with how layered it feels beneath a provocative premise. Ivy’s holiday in Maple Brook Falls starts as something she dreads, which immediately makes her relatable - who hasn’t been stuck somewhere they don’t want to be at the worst possible time? Enter Hunter: he’s bracingly confident, draws attention without trying, and instantly complicates everything by knowing exactly who he wants. Watching that tension unfold, right alongside Ivy’s resistance, curiosity, and eventual emotional softening, was genuinely engaging.

The slow build of connection between Ivy and Hunter captures that awkward, thrilling edge of forbidden attraction. Their energy together isn’t just about lust (though the chemistry is undeniably electric); it’s about two people cautiously letting down their walls in a season that’s supposed to be about warmth and connection. The snowy setting elevates the cozy, almost cinematic feel of the story, especially good if, like me, you’re reading it during an Australian heatwave and craving winter vibes.

Where The Book Daddy really shines is in its emotional beats. It’s not just about an unexpected romance; it’s about personal growth, family dynamics, and choosing what (and who) matters most. Ivy’s voice is grounded and sincere, and Hunter has enough depth to make his attraction to her feel real rather than just provocative. The balance between romantic heat and heartfelt moments felt intentional, and by the time their connection fully developed, I was genuinely rooting for them.

The holiday backdrop, small-town community, and soft emotional tension give this story both heart and warmth, making it a satisfying read if you enjoy character-driven romantic journeys with a little spice and a lot of seasonal charm.

⭐ Rating: 4/5
🌶 Spice Level: Moderate — steamy moments that enhance rather than overshadow the emotional arc
💔 Tropes: Small-town Christmas romance • enemies-to-something more • unconventional spark • holiday setting
🎄 Vibe: Warm, snowy, emotionally grounded with a cozy winter escape feel

Hunt is the book daddy! He's Ivy's ex-boyfriend's step dad and when they first meet the sparks fly. They fight but her natural sub side speaks to his dom. They stop fighting the pull and start a relationship. Holly is the candy shop owner and she flirts with both Hunt and Ivy and both like her. They all start a relationship together. I loved the small town and all the townspeople. I also love Hunt and his giving back to the community.

I’m not sure what to say about this book. I love the whole premise of the story and the concept. I do feel like everything that happened moved really fast, between hunter and ivy but also adding in all the other girls. Was definitely hard to keep up with who everyone was at times.

I do like how hunter was big on community with his town and non profit work. You could well get has a soft spot for taking care of people.

The Book Daddy follows Ivy to the small town of her boyfriend's step-father for Christmas. Their relationship is awful and his step-father is silently coveting Ivy, to include buying everything she would need in order to be comfortable in his home. The story follows how the relationships change as well as the community aspect of the town she's in, which rally together when needed and you really get the hometown vibes. 🥰

I really enjoyed the small town aesthetic in this book as well as the way the MMC (Hunt) gave back to his community. From helping with animals, to hosting large fundraisers, the town means a lot to him and you can feel that. K.M. Avery also did an amazing job at painting Ivy's boyfriend (Scott) as a huge POS that you really loved to hate. 😡

What was missing for me was the connection between the characters. It all felt like too much insta-love and it devolved into a poly dynamic where nobody had any conversations with each other to establish rules or boundaries, yet people kept getting "punished" for breaking unspecified rules and boundaries. I also LOVE the "good girl" micro-trope, but it felt way overused and was a turn off after a while. 😭

The poly story line felt very forced and I feel this book could have been a great first book at establishing and building Ivy and Hunter's relationship, and opening it more into poly in future books. There were also some Dom/Sub dynamics in the book that were giant red flags and really took me out of it at times. 🚩

All that said, there was a lot I liked about the book. I liked the community and small town parts of the story more than I liked hearing about the romance. Maybe it's because I have a hard time crying, but these people cry ALL the time and need to be in some therapy. Characters could have been flushed out more to make me care about them more. I enjoyed all the things Hunt does for the town and the community and that Ivy was able to jump right in. I liked his support of her anxiety and how he helped her through things. I was waffling between two and three stars but at the end of the day, there was more that I didn't enjoy about this book than I enjoyed.

The Book Daddy by K.M. Avery was just entertainment. The book focuses on new relationship dynamics in a small town setting with amazing characters. There was a great balance of smut and a good story line. I mean who wouldn't want a book daddy, right?!?

The premise revolves around Ivy who is dating Scott, who does not treat her well at all! She has panic attacks and has never really known what it feels like to be really loved. She's also kind of naive. Insert Hunt, Scott's stepfather, who learns about her mistreatment and falls for her. He wants to make it all up to her -- yet he's into BDSM. He's also into community and nonprofit work; showing how he genuinely loves to help people. Now we have Holly, she's a shop owner who falls for Ivy as well and is brought into this trouple dynamic.

The pacing was fast. Everything that happened moved really fast-- between hunter and ivy-- but also with adding in all the other girls. It was definitely hard to keep up with who everyone was at times.

Hunter was so thoughtful for making Ivy feel like she was at home while staying at his house while she was still dating his stepson Scott. Hunter became protective towards Ivy once he discovered his stepson's treatment towards her.

Ivy has a literal heart of gold. I loved how confidant she became being comfortable in her own skin and wasn’t ashamed for her sexual interests. Ivy really had great character growth.

Hunter and Ivy together was hot but then you add Holly in and she upgraded the dynamic. The three of them fit well together and their connection was evident in the way Ivy stuck of for Holly when it came to Holly’s family and how Hunter spoke with her mother. Now River joins the group and wants to learn from Hunter which elevates the dynamic to another level.

I was lucky to receive and advanced copy prior to release and I'm o glad I did. This was such an entertaining story.

If you’re wanting a holiday romance full of banter, sexual tension and a good plot this book is definitely for you please check trigger warnings before reading. Also it's entertainment not a literary mind bending masterpiece..... HAVE FUN REDING!

Wow…. this story absolutely captivated me. The Book Daddy is like a warm, snowy blanket of small-town charm mixed with raw emotional depth. Avery has woven together a holiday romance that’s sweet, spicy, and deeply human.

I was drawn into Maple Brook Falls: the crisp winter air, the twinkling lights, and the undercurrent of secrets that make this town feel like a character itself. The chemistry between the protagonists is electric, but it’s their vulnerabilities what they hide from themselves and each other that really hit home.

Easton Henley (yes, that “bad boy” trope, but done so, so well) is complex, guarded, and full of regret. Watching him navigate his community service at the animal clinic a place that feels like sanctuary gave his character real heart. Then there’s Palisade, the woman he can’t forget, whose warmth and strength gently break through his walls. The way Avery’s handles their emotional journey felt so authentic: I cheered, I swooned, and I had a lump in my throat more than once.

What I loved most was how the novel balanced romance with real personal growth. Easton’s past isn’t glossed over, and Palisade isn’t just a holiday fantasy she’s layered, with her own fears and desires. Their “togetherness” moments are electric and grounded. And Avery’s doesn’t shy away from the messiness that comes with love: miscommunications, self-doubt, and the work required to heal and trust.

The pacing is tight but not rushed. There’s enough holiday magic to give us cozy vibes, but Avery’s also gives us moments that sting heartbreak, regret, redemption. I appreciated that this wasn’t a fluffy Christmas novel; it has real stakes.

If I have one small wish, it would be for a bit more backstory on some secondary characters, but that’s me wanting to stay in this world longer. Clearly, I was so invested in Maple Brook Falls that I didn’t want to leave.

Bottom line: K.M. Avery nailed it. The Book Daddy is an emotionally rich, beautifully written Christmas small-town romance with heart, heat, and healing. I already can’t wait to see more from Maple Brook Falls.

Highly, highly recommend.

Hunter could quite possibly be the perfect book boyfriend.
Plus, he comes with books!

I am a total sucker for a boyfriend’s dad situation, and when you add a dominant/submissive dynamic, a polyamorous relationship, and a whole lot of emotional depth, I am all in. This story delivers trauma, conflict, self-discovery, and plenty of heat, but at its core it is about care for others, for the community, and for each other. Watching these characters find themselves and build a home together was genuinely beautiful.

Hunter is a billionaire publishing house CEO and philanthropist who practically carries the entire town on his broad, capable shoulders. He is deeply selfless, always going the extra mile, donating his time and money and ready to get his hands dirty to help others get ahead. But then we see his dominant side, and let me tell you, I would happily take more of that. He is strict, possessive, and intentional, and yes, it absolutely made me want a collar of my very own.

Ivy starts fragile, insecure, weighed down by anxiety, and a little lost. Her eyes are soon opened to the toxic nature of her boyfriend, which makes the respect, attention, and affection she receives from Hunter, along with the support of a true community showing her what her life could be, all the more powerful. Watching her allow herself to be adored, valued, and cared for builds her up and gives her a confidence boost that had me cheering.

Holly has spent her entire life in this small town, working in her family’s candy shop. Ivy’s arrival breathes new life into her world. Together they are sweet, deeply loving, and just so fun! Watching Holly step into a dominant role within their dynamic was incredibly satisfying. Plus, she adds a spicy bit of trouble to their throuple that I absolutely loved. Seeing all three of them build a family together was truly heartwarming.

The story also brings the very real drama of navigating life in a small town that might not accept their relationship. This tension adds emotional weight without overwhelming the plot, which moves effortlessly throughout. The side characters are a standout as well, rounding out the found family and promising even more delicious connections to form, leaving me far too eager for book two.

Wow this book was incredible it had me hooked from the get go. There was a great balance of smut and a good story line. I feel like we all dream for a book daddy like Hunter the way he shows Ivy how she should be treated dam.

Hunter was so thoughtful for having everything to make ivy feel like she was at home for her stay at his house while she was still dating his son Scott ( I can not stand Scott one bit). I love how protective hunter was over ivy making sure he knew that how his son was treating her was not right at all. Hunter is a literal green flag man walking the way he make sure the community keeps thriving.

Ivy has a literal heart of gold I love how she was not with Hunter for his money at all and would insist to pay for things even though she knew Hunter would never allow her too. I love seeing her confidence grow and how she became comfortable in her own skin and wasn’t ashamed for what she like in the bedroom. Ivy really fitted in to the small town jumping and helping with everything with soup kitchen and anything that needed to be done.

Hunter and Ivy together was absolutely so hot but then you add holly in to the mix and made the dynamic so much hotter and all three of them fit so well together the way Ivy stuck of for Holly when it came to holly’s family and how Hunter had a quite word with her mum as well you could really see how much they cared for each other. Now River joins the group dynamic and wants to learn from Hunter I love the 4 of them together I can not wait to read the next book.

Holy jalapeño 🔥 🥵

I fell in love with Ivy by page 3. She is a book girl to a T. And the title is fitting, Hunt is a Book Daddy 😋 and their chemistry is 💣

Spoilers ahead......

The first unknowing meeting between Ivy and Hunt was pretty easy to guess who Hunt would turn out to be. The plot twist of Scott's mom was pretty easy to guess too. Who is Scott? Funny you should ask. He's largely forgotten by the end of the book, but he's Ivy's boyfriend at the beginning of the book. And Hunt's step son. He's the villain so you're okay with Ivy's changed relationship status.

Occasionally Hunt's methods feel unhealthy. His obsession with Ivy is obvious and it heavily colors his decisions. But that's what we love about our book boyfriends, they're relentlessly obsessed with their love interest and we all want to be wanted that intensely.

If the book had ended at about the 25% mark when Ivy and Hunt get together I would 've been fine. The story would've been incomplete but I would've had my HEA.

Instead we meet Holly. I'm conflicted about Holly. The group scenes are yummy but I don't feel like her motives for being there are pure. She pushes Hunt's buttons and leads Ivy into trouble on purpose. Hunt recognizes Ivy's feelings for her and accepts Holly in order to keep Ivy. I suspect Holly knows this because of the way she plays with Ivy without Hunt, like a reminder she can have Ivy if she decides to despite being told not to play without him.

We're quite familiar with River by the time he joins the group. The way Holly defies Hunt to do as she pleases with River would've been a nice time to release Holly from a grouping that wasn't as balanced as it was intended to be. River feels for Holly how Hunt feels for Ivy. The sneak peek for the next book seems to feature Holly and River more so maybe we'll see that dynamic break out in the future. I cannot wait to see what comes next for the fun loving foursome!

This book had a lot of potential and I really loved the premise!

Ivy is dreading spending the holidays with her boyfriend and his step-father in upstate New York, but when she arrives she is immediately attracted to Hunter. Hunter finds himself drawn to his step-son's girlfriend. As Scott keeps leaving Ivy to meet up with friends or do other things, Hunt begins to take care of her in a way that Scott never has. He slowly shows her around his property and tells her about the various ways that he supports the small town. As Scott pulls away, Ivy and Hunt get closer, but they are both also attracted to Holly, a fiery woman who runs the candy store in town. Together, the three must navigate their relationship and save the small town that Ivy longs to call home.

I really liked Ivy and Hunt as characters, but I felt like their relationship was a bit underdeveloped. A lot of the BDSM aspects were not really discussed before being implemented and things felt rushed. I really liked how Hunt wanted to take care of Ivy and support her aspirations. He also really focused on caring for both her mental and physical health. The addition of Holly to the dynamic/relationship also felt very spur of the moment. They didn't really sit down and discuss it either as a couple or with Holly in any meaningful way. Hunt also made some very permanent decisions about both Holly and Ivy without having any discussion. I did like how focused all three of them were on helping the town and saving the town's community center. They all worked together well to help feed people who were hungry and support the town. Honestly though, I feel like Hunt doing all of the things he was trying to do would have led anyone to burn out pretty quickly. Overall, it was a cute book, but I think the kink could have been explored in a safer way.

I’m not sure where to start with this book. I have such mixed feelings about it! This one was a wild ride!

I have to start by saying, this was the first book I’ve read with a Daddy Dom/Pet Sub relationship and I still don’t know how I feel about it. It was also hard for me to get with the timeline of how quickly things happened in the beginning.

That being said, this book was so incredibly hot 🥵 the dynamics of the relationship were absolutely insane to me! They just kept adding people 🤣

Hunter is my new favorite book boyfriend and I wish someone would let me buy a limitless amount of books and sweets! I love that Ivy honestly reflected how a lot of readers feel about how much reading means to them. That said, Ivy is probably my least favorite FMC. As someone who has anxiety and is pretty emotional, even I found it kind of annoying how much Ivy cries. It’s like every 3 pages. Other than that, I loved watching Ivy grow throughout the book and become more comfortable in her skin.

I really went most of the book thinking that I wouldn’t read any following books, but as I got to the end, my view on that changed and I really want to see what else Maple Brook Falls has in store! I love how supportive this community is!

Age gap, ex-boyfriend’s dad, MFFM, Dom/Sub

This is a delightful holiday read. It’s dual POV. It’s about a girl visiting her boyfriend’s family for Christmas. The boyfriend is abusive, but the father isn’t.

I love a great ‘good girl’ praise kink book. The plot revolves around helping this little town, Maple Brook Falls, where the father lives. The characters are very community-driven. I really enjoyed the altruistic nature that Avery gave the MMC.

FMCs: Ivy is a sweet girl who is naive, has low self esteem, and is prone to panic attacks. She has been abused by her boyfriend and has never really known love. Holly, who runs the sweet shop, falls for Ivy at first sight and is brought into the relationship between Ivy and Hunt. She is bold and independent also gentle.

MMC: Hunt is Scott’s stepdad. He falls for Ivy and learns she has been mistreated. He does everything to make it up to her. He is into BDSM.

Unforgettable Supporting characters: there are so many supporting characters in this book. It really made me fall in love with the town. From Luke who helps with the chores at the estate to Mayor Rudy and his partner to the town handyman River and the little old ladies who run the soup kitchen.

Avery character development is decent but I wish there was more relationship development. The story moves fast around the town needing help and adds a sprinkle of spice here and there. The spice is “on page” but not as detailed as a lot of other books. It’s starts and stops pretty quickly each time.

I can’t wait for the next book on the series!

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Thank you for a great read K.M. Avery

✩ ARC REVIEW ✩

The Book Daddy
Written By — K.M. Avery

★ ★ ★ ★
𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑒 — definitely a 5

Where do I even begin with this novel?

Let’s start with the beginning…..

This novel definitely jumps straight into the story. There’s no build up, no slow story line. It’s all right there in your face from the moment you start reading. Is that a bad thing? Maybe for people who enjoy the slow build ups, but if you are someone who doesn’t mind jumping straight into hot water this is right up your alley.

Further into the novel… I must admit I absolutely despise Scotty, what a complete jerkwad of a dude. My mind hasn’t changed even after the heartfelt moment (sorry not sorry.) He could use a lesson or two when it comes to being a dom, and an overall good person from his step-dad Hunter who I must admit sounds like a dream 💦

I was completely SHOCKED and I mean SHOCKED when it went from a duo dom/sub to a trio then to a quad….. like what?!?! My little self could never…. but the dynamic of it all sounds amazing…. (insert jealousy)…. who wouldn’t love to be spoiled and pampered like that? I couldn’t handle the pain though 😂😬

The community of Maple Brook Falls sounds lovely and a community worth living in. They are all so tight knit and come together to help each other survive and thrive in their businesses. You could only hope to live in a place like Maple Brook Falls in today’s world.

I want to send a huge thanks to K.M. Avery for allowing me the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this novel. I read the sneak peak of the 2nd novel and I cannot wait for the day it arrives either in ARC form or to the world.

First, I’d like to congratulate K.M. Avery on the successful release of her debut novel. I’m sure it’s been a long journey. I’m proud that you didn’t give up!

This romance novel was a fun read. The witty banter goes a long way for me and I LOVE Holly. Hands down, she’s my favorite character. Scott is a childish prick and I think he got what he deserved, but I think a little more closure on his end of the story is needed. Hunt, the MMC is a stand-up, responsible man that certainly loves to be in control. Ivy, the FMC, fits perfectly into his life, almost like she was meant to be his from the start. The way they met was described well. I felt like I was watching it play out right in front of me. Their relationship blossoms into something so beautiful. I had a feeling more characters were going to join Hunt and Ivy’s dynamic. I’m glad Holly was the first. I’m surprised with the next addition though. It wasn’t who I anticipated but I’m here for it.

Despite all the delicious spice in this novel, there’s a deeper story of a woman coming into herself and following her desires while battling anxiety. As a person that has massive anxiety issues, I can relate and empathize with Ivy. There’s also the message of being who you are and with who you want to be despite what others think. As long as you’re happy and not hurting anyone, who cares about others’ opinions?

Overall, job well done! I can’t wait to continue the adventure and read the 2nd book in the series. The epilogue left me in a state of excitement and wonder. For all the Why Choose?, Dom/Sub, and open door spice fans, this one’s for you.

Can Ivy Rose survive one disastrous holiday trip long enough to finally discover the love and safety she has always needed?

If you want a spicy, emotional holiday read that mixes small town charm with real depth, The Book Daddy is such a good pick. Ivy arrives in Maple Brook Falls expecting an awkward Christmas with her inattentive boyfriend and his stepfather, but what she finds instead is care, connection and the kind of love she has never been given before.
Hunter is the perfect blend of protective, patient and quietly irresistible. The way he makes Ivy feel safe in her own skin is swoon worthy. Their chemistry is already hot, but when Holly steps in, the entire dynamic becomes even more tender and balanced.
I loved the mental health representation. Ivy’s social anxiety, panic attacks and use of medicinal cannabis for illness were written with care, and it made the story feel grounded and respectful. The sense of community was another standout. Charity work, kindness, foster care discussions and the fight to save the town added meaning behind the heat. There are so many small underlying messages about belonging, healing and what it feels like to be chosen simply for who you are.

My only note is that the pacing moves very fast. With a BDSM dynamic in particular, I would have loved deeper conversations, a little more unpacking of boundaries and clearer consent scenes. The story had the room for it, and it would have added even more depth to the relationships.

A filthy little Christmas treat I absolutely devoured

If you’re looking for a sweet holiday romance… keep walking.
If you’re looking for a dirty Christmas novel with a DADDY who funds the town, breaks the rules, and still worships his girl like a queen.

Welcome to Maple Brook Falls.

Ivy thought her life was pretty straightforward dating Scott, buying a Christmas present for his stepdad she’d never even met… until a stranger in the bookstore made her blush, tremble, *and* rethink every life choice she’d ever made.
Imagine her shock when the man she wanted to crawl into like a heated blanket turns out to be *the stepdad* himself. Peak festive chaos.

Hunt is a dominant people-pleaser, and honestly? I love that for him.
He crosses lines, funds half the town, and somehow manages to be powerful without the arrogance. Ivy is his *pet*, but he treats her like she’s royalty no public humiliation, no games like Scott. Just pure, intentional devotion… with a filthy edge that could melt snow.

And then there’s

Holly Maple Brook Falls’ candy-shop elf and certified troublemaker. She lives to break Hunt’s rules and loves watching Ivy squirm during… *punishment sessions.* A chaotic little Christmas gremlin and I adore her.

As for River… I’ll let your imagination feast. But let’s just say I’m already counting down to Book 2, because if it’s anything like this one? It’s going to be EPICif not even *better*.

A spicy festive romp that made me blush, grin, and immediately check when the next book drops. 🎄🔥

This book had great potential, showing how the relationship was developing between Hunter and Ivy but then suddenly they were a throuple and, in the blink of an eye, Hunt has gone from the possessive Daddy warning River not to touch his girls to inviting him to join them as a quad.
There was a bit of spice but not as much as I was expecting given the direction this went in and didn’t really go into any sort of depth of the dom/sub dynamic.
I really liked the town of Maple Falls and the way they all came together and the non profit and everything Hunt does for the town is a nice touch. I am quite puzzled how he finds the time to do everything though. Between the homestead, all the baking and being a CEO plus helping at the Community Centre, I don’t think he can get more than 3 hours sleep per night.
I wish we had got an insight into the reasons for Ivy’s anxieties. It was hinted that it relates to her parents but we don’t really understand what caused it.
I struggled to like Ivy a lot of the time as she seemed to whine a lot. I didn’t really warm to Holly much either and found Pasley a bit annoying sometimes too although we don’t get to meet her much in this book.
I was grateful to get an ARC copy of this book but, if I hadn’t, it probably would have been a DNF for me.
I thank the author for giving me the chance to meet the town of Maple Falls but, sadly, I don’t think I will be visiting again.

Set in the small town of Maple Brook Falls during the holidays, The Book Daddy follows Ivy as an unexpected trip turns into a life-changing week. What begins as a tense holiday visit quickly evolves into a complex and unconventional relationship, all unfolding against a backdrop of community, food, and a town determined to take care of its own.

One of the strongest elements of this book is the setting. Maple Brook Falls is a charming small town filled with people who genuinely show up for one another, and I loved how much emphasis was placed on community, sustainability, and caring for those in need. The homesteading elements, shared cooking scenes, and focus on food as connection added a cozy, comforting layer to the story. The addition of the rescue pit bulls was an especially sweet touch.

This is a very spicy, kink-forward romance, and the story leans heavily into those dynamics. Readers should absolutely check the trigger warnings and content notes to make sure this is the kind of spice they enjoy, as the romantic and sexual elements are a central focus of the book.

Overall, this story delivers high heat paired with small-town holiday vibes, found family, and a protagonist who ultimately finds her happy ending. This will be a great fit for readers who enjoy extremely spicy romances set in cozy, community-driven small towns.

This book surprised me in the best way. While it is very much a mature read, what stood out most was how intentionally the relationships were written. Instead of leaning into darkness, the story focused on consent, trust, communication, and care. Showing a side of power-exchange dynamics that’s often misunderstood.

I really loved Ivy’s journey. She’s struggles with anxiety, unsure of herself, and is learning how to take up space in her own life. Watching her grow into confidence while being supported by the people around her felt real and earned. Hunter was such a standout character for me. Beneath the dynamic is a man who is deeply caring, generous, and grounded. His love for Ivy, his homestead, and the small town around him added so much warmth to the story.

Even though the romance is front and center, the community in Maple Brook Falls truly stole my heart. People show up for each other here, offering support instead of judgment, and that sense of found family made the story feel cozy despite the spice. Holly was a wonderful surprise! She was bold, warm, and exactly who Ivy needed. Luke and River brought steady support and heart to the story as well.

This was a spicy but surprisingly cozy read, filled with growth, connection, and chosen family. And that ending? I was not ready. I’m already counting down the days until the next book.

Let me start by saying this is just my personal opinion.

There was a lot happening in this book, and at times it felt like it was trying to include every popular trope all at once. Because of that, the story occasionally felt a bit busy and unfocused. Some characters were added to the group dynamic without much explanation or interaction, and a few behaviors that came across as potential red flags weren’t acknowledged within the story.

I also had some trouble following the timeline, which jumped around more than I expected. Still, it wasn’t a bad read by any means. I genuinely think the author has a lot of potential and could create something amazing with a clearer focus and more space for the story and characters to develop naturally.

On a personal note, while I enjoy certain tropes—like the “good girl” dynamic—there were over 80 uses of it here, along with more than 100 uses of “Daddy,” which felt a bit overwhelming for my taste.

I’m not sure yet if I’ll continue the series, but I do believe there’s plenty of room for growth. With some refinement, I think this series could become something really great.

This is a Christmas themed romance about Ivy who goes home with her boyfriend for the holidays to the small town he grew up in, Maple Falls.

Hunter, Scott's step-dad, is obsessed with Ivy before she even arrives and will do everything he can to make her his pet. Hunter is the CEO of a book publishing firm and runs a non-profit from his homestead. He loves control and his attention to detail is unrivalled.

He's not the only one falling for Ivy though. After a trip into town, Holly who works at the local candy store also sets her sights on Ivy. Holly is a bubbly extrovert who brings some much needed chaos to the dynamic.

We had our first "good girl" right out the gate on page 6 and from there they fall like snow ❄️

Ivy is a little cringey, she reads young and cries, a lot. Hunter and Holly cry too! Maybe I'm just too used to reading dark romances and my black heart couldn't compute all this crying 😂😂

Overall its a fun Christmas read, set in a cute small american town with spice throughout. A bit cheesy, but hey, who doesn't love a bit of cheese at Christmas 💕

There’s an instant connection between Hunter and Ivy. They meet at a bookstore and end up talking for awhile. Ivy doesn’t know who he is though. She finds out pretty quickly tho when she goes with her boyfriend, Scott, to his step dads for Christmas. Hunter is just the sweetest. He went above and beyond to make his house feel like home for Ivy. Hunter treats Ivy the way she should have been treated; he treats her like a princess. He also doesn’t judge her on her need to smoke weed; unlike Scott did. Hunter makes sure she always has something to help her anxiety when it gets bad. Part way through the book we meet Holly. It doesn’t take long for Holly to be once apart of Hunter and Ivy’s relationship/ unique dynamic. The three of them have to figure out how to be in this dominant/submissive relationship as a trio and also how to navigate how the town will react. They seem to not care what anyone thinks because they are happy and that’s all that matters. There was a part towards the end that I was not expecting to read about. All I will say is it deals with one of Hunters friends; River. I can’t wait to continue reading about their journey/relationship in book 2.

We're brought into the world of Maple Brook Falls during the week leading up to Christmas, which throughout the book it just sounds the like most quaint little village ever. I had hallmark Christmas movie vibes playing through my head and I absolutely want to go and visit Mocha Me Crazy Cafe for a coffee and nip next door to Barrel Full of Smiles for a bag of candy!!

Our FMC is Ivy, who we meet in a Bookstore searching for a present for her  boyfriends step-dad and a little something for herself, a spicy romance (great taste! 😉 - very relatable)

Our MMC Hunt is an older gent who is sweet, caring and humble! He finds what he wants and goes after it, and, he can cook! I do love a man who can cook!!

Notable scene. 1 word. Chocolate IYKYK👀
