Hunter could quite possibly be the perfect book boyfriend.
Plus, he comes with books!
I am a total sucker for a boyfriend’s dad situation, and when you add a dominant/submissive dynamic, a polyamorous relationship, and a whole lot of emotional depth, I am all in. This story delivers trauma, conflict, self-discovery, and plenty of heat, but at its core it is about care for others, for the community, and for each other. Watching these characters find themselves and build a home together was genuinely beautiful.
Hunter is a billionaire publishing house CEO and philanthropist who practically carries the entire town on his broad, capable shoulders. He is deeply selfless, always going the extra mile, donating his time and money and ready to get his hands dirty to help others get ahead. But then we see his dominant side, and let me tell you, I would happily take more of that. He is strict, possessive, and intentional, and yes, it absolutely made me want a collar of my very own.
Ivy starts fragile, insecure, weighed down by anxiety, and a little lost. Her eyes are soon opened to the toxic nature of her boyfriend, which makes the respect, attention, and affection she receives from Hunter, along with the support of a true community showing her what her life could be, all the more powerful. Watching her allow herself to be adored, valued, and cared for builds her up and gives her a confidence boost that had me cheering.
Holly has spent her entire life in this small town, working in her family’s candy shop. Ivy’s arrival breathes new life into her world. Together they are sweet, deeply loving, and just so fun! Watching Holly step into a dominant role within their dynamic was incredibly satisfying. Plus, she adds a spicy bit of trouble to their throuple that I absolutely loved. Seeing all three of them build a family together was truly heartwarming.
The story also brings the very real drama of navigating life in a small town that might not accept their relationship. This tension adds emotional weight without overwhelming the plot, which moves effortlessly throughout. The side characters are a standout as well, rounding out the found family and promising even more delicious connections to form, leaving me far too eager for book two.
