“Had I known the devil would have taken a blowjob, I might not have offered him my soul.”

Dany was never meant to survive.

When a night full of terrors leaves her standing at Hell’s gates, Dany makes a deal with the Devil—her soul in exchange for a second chance at life and bloody revenge. A predator disguised as prey, she hunts in the dark, delivering souls to Lucifer to keep herself alive. Love, though, was never part of the plan.

Then came Joe.

Charming, selfless, and good in all the ways Dany forgot existed, Joe makes her believe she could be more than a monster. With him, she’s not just a killer. She’s a woman, alive and wanted. But love is never that simple.

Lucifer still lingers in the shadows, testing her fire and defiance. Each encounter leaves her bare and teetering between salvation and utter damnation.

As secrets unravel and Dany’s past refuses to stay buried, she is faced with an impossible the man who makes her feel human or the monster who brings her to life.

In a world where no one is innocent, how do you decide who is worth saving?

A dark romantic comedy, Unwanted is a story of obsession, betrayal, and the terrifying realization that the one thing more dangerous than the devil you know is the man that you don’t.

“I don’t know what hurts more,” he started. “Having my biggest failure thrown in my face…” his head cocked to the side, studying me as the words drifted. “Or being made fun of by a $tr*Pp£r for having daddy issues.”

Unwanted by Dawn Darling is a Dark Paranormal Rom-Com. This genre is completely new to me but I found I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book was a standalone, something I rarely find myself reading anymore so it was a refreshing change! I had a hard time putting this book down.

I absolutely love Dani, our FMC, Luci, our MMC, and Jesus, the kitty side-kick (don’t tell him I call him that or I will pay for it in unfathomable ways, because he thinks he is the King of literally everything! ). Together the 3 of them can stir up some real trouble while also leaving you giggling on the side-lines. The plot to romance was well balanced in this book. The banter is top-notch. The twists and turns in the story will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next!

If you love a morally black FMC and MMC, side-characters that will likely steal your heart and the show, and top-notch banter then this may be the book for you!

Thank you to Dawn Darling for gifting me this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you so Mickey Dawn for this ARC! What a fun story! I absolutely loved Dayi & Luci, their banter & Dany’s sarcasm was just * chef’s kiss * without giving anything away. That twist definitely got me, I knew it was too good to be true. Can we talk about Jesus’ sassyness 😂 I loved how Danyelle narrated for him, the most perfect fluffy hell cat!

Def give this one a read, it was so fun!

After experiencing an unforgettable night full of terrors, Dany makes a deal with the Devil - her soul in exchange for a second chance at life and bloody revenge. Throughout the years, Dany must offer a sacrifice to Lucifer. She is always hunting and searching for one man in particular.

One day, she meets charming and selfless Joe. Joe makes Dany believe she can be more than a monster...but, as secrets unravel, will Dany decide to be with the the man who makes her feel human or the monster who brings her to life?

This book had me hooked from the start and I enjoyed the funny moments with Jesus (the cat) sprinkled in. I love that Dawn Darling always finds a way to include mental health into her books without making it feel like the sole focus.

This one is perfect for fans of dark romantic comedies, paranormal romance, forced proximity, morally black FMC, and romantic obsession.

There are a few triggers to be mindful about, including sexual assault of the FMC (not by the MMC); full mouth extraction on page; graphic and explicit content such as torture, violence, murder, and sex, all on page in detail; extreme sacrilegious themes, dialogue, and humor; psychopathy related to extreme antisocial personality disorders; sex trafficking; narcissism; stalking; creative use of decapitated heads; violent stabbing; and hazing.

Unwanted is a force!! I wasn’t totally sure what to expect going in, but what a good surprise! Dany is a literal demon, hell bent on revenge, and Unwanted holds no punches, the kills are intense, the banter is snapping, and there are more than a couple twists.

We follow Dany as she is working toward the end of her kill list, reliving the trauma that brought her there, and working through what she wants to be next. I loved the eighties vibes of this one, the whole story has a noir feel, and I could almost smell the hair spray, the setting is almost its own character here.

Please be mindful of the trigger warnings, this is a very intense read, and might not be for everyone. I’m glad I gave this a try, huge thank you to the author for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Unwanted was a dark romantic comedy with a unique premise. After the FMC dies, she makes a deal with the devil. For the next 33 years she must do his bidding and kill three people every year on her “death day.”
I absolutely loved Dany. She’s a smart-mouthed, hell-bent vigilante who goes after men who hurt women while also seeking revenge against the man who killed her. She doesn’t take Lucifer’s nonsense, which makes their interactions even more entertaining.
Lucifer was powerful, hot, and clearly yearning for her. Their banter and chemistry were top tier, and their dynamic really carried the story.

The twist was great, and the writing was fun, engaging, and easy to follow.

Some scenes may be difficult for certain readers, so I definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving in.

Dany sells her soul to Lucifer for a second chance and immediately chooses violence. She’s out here collecting souls like punch cards and calling it self-care. We love a working girl with goals.

Lucifer: Petty. Smirking. Sinfully hot.
Joe: Cinnamon roll with feelings.

And Dany’s stuck between:
✨ the man who makes her feel human
🔥 the devil who makes her feel feral

It’s dark. It’s graphic. It does NOT fade to black. The humor is unhinged, the sacrilege is loud, and the romance is basically “therapy is expensive so I chose chaos.”

I was stressed. I was giggling. I was questioning my moral alignment.

If you like your rom-coms with blood, blasphemy, and a morally catastrophic love triangle then welcome to hell, babe 💋

Deliciously Unhinged

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! I loved Dany and Lucifer’s dynamic - it was delicious and tragic and adorable and UGH just freaking good!!!

So Dany was brutally assaulted and she 💀, but she bargained her soul with Lucifer to bring her back to life so she can get revenge on the men who destroyed her.

He gave her 33 years to do so and that entire time, the devil was ✨yearning✨ for Dany and she did not even know. He was completely obsessed and literally fell from Heaven FOR HER!

It’s pretty violent and gory but I enjoyed how unhinged Dany was, and plus she earned it too. I honestly wished I get to see more of them together!

Unwanted is a standalone book. I will say it did take a couple chapters for me to get into it but BAM it was great. The FMC is witty and fun. The plot twists were shocking. This was a great, “feel good” standalone and I’m so glad I read it.

Have to mention my favorite quotes that spoke to me.

“If you’re hoping for Cinderella, turn back now. I’m definitely the step-mom lounging in bed with her grumpy ass cat.”

And I don’t mean you finished crocheting your blanket and don’t want to start another one bored.

Dammit, Dawn, you did it AGAIN!!!

So I have been obsessed with this author since I read the very first page of her first book, One Little Nightmare, a few years back. Since then, I have been eagerly devouring every morsel that she drops, and she has never failed to blow me away. Unwanted is no exception- It’s wholly different than her previous books, but every bit as raw, gritty, beautifully written, and addictive. I’m OBSESSED with this book, and every character in it.

Our FMC, Dany, was brutally assaulted and unalived, but in her final moments, was offered a deal by Lucifer. Her soul in exchange for a chance to hunt the bastards down who hurt her, and make them pay. So she starts a new life, delivering souls of the wicked to Lucifer, while enacting her ultimate revenge. Dany’s afterlife is all going according to plan, until she meets Joe- the hero with a heart of gold, who makes her think love is possible. Dany starts to let her walls down, dreaming of a normal life with this seeming perfect man, but her afterlife is… complicated. And so is her tether to Lucifer.

As Dany’s deal with Lucifer nears its end, she’s forced to face her ultimate demons, and make some impossible choices. All while fighting her feelings for the enigma that is Luci- the man who should make her run away screaming, but instead makes her feel ALL THE THINGS. What’s a dead girl to do?

This book was brilliant- it was entertaining as hell, thought-provoking, emotional when it needed to be, and fcking HILARIOUS. The dark humor was expertly woven throughout heavy, often brutal scenes, yielding the perfect balance of levity and depth. Themes of reclaiming your power, facing your fears, and knowing your worth, were ever present, and made this so much more than dark romcom. The banter between Dany & Luci was PERFECTION (Dawn is the Queen Of Banter, if you didn’t know), and had me cackling, and had my toes curling. Their tension was off the charts- the slow burn was absolutely delicious. 🤌🏻🔥 And the side characters, as always, were chef’s kiss- particularly Jesus, the 40lb Maine Coon who was a perpetual thorn in Dany’s side. And the way this whole story wrapped up, was so poignant and satisfying- it’s a standalone so no cliffy or torturous wait for a conclusion.

If you love UNHINGED dark romantic comedies, with feminine rage, gruesome revenge, plot twists, and hot as hell spice, this needs to be your next read. I absolutely inhaled it, and there’s nothing left to do but wait for Dawn to drop her next gem….

✨PLEASE check the trigger warnings before diving in. It does get dark and graphic.

Tropes:
Dark humor
Serial unaliver FMC
Mental health rep
Slow burn romance
Feminine rage
Revenge
80’s grunge vibes
Creative gore
Side characters that steal the show

Summary: A young lady is beaten to death by sadistic men she should have been able to trust. She makes a deal with Lucifer, the actual Devil, to come back and exact her revenge. Along the way, she builds a community of friends and falls in love with Lucifer.

Tropes: MMC/FMC is back from the dead, FMC & MMC Enter Into A Contract, FMC is a Stripper, Assassin, Revenge, FMC previous abused (not by MMC), Female Friendship Group, Kidnapping, Rescue, Hidden Identity, Overcoming Past Trauma

Yes, this is a ⭐ 2.0 read, but I genuinely liked this author’s writing style, the possibilities in the story, and the depth of depravity. I’ll definitely read her next book.

Now, onto the meat of the review.

There are three main issues with the book:

#1

This is a dark tale told in flashbacks. But you don’t get enough information at the beginning to emotionally connect with the FMC and you won’t until nearly the end. There’s also not much about why she wants revenge. Yes, she was murdered, but it was so brutal that she sold her soul to Lucifer to ensure payback. That’s another level of determination. Give me that early on and I’ll personally help her hide the bodies and lie to the cops.

#2

She just appears in a strip club with strong bonds and friendship with the other girls. What happened when she first got back to the living? Why did she decide to strip and why at this club? How did she form the bonds she did? I don’t know. But I’d like to. And by this point she’s already infatuated with Lucifer, but more history between them would have been angsty gold. Ooo and tell me about her other annual kills for him. The Forensic Files junkie in me would salivate.

#3

This story felt like three separate stories stitched together. Each one was interesting, but the threads connecting them were weak.

An undead minion of Lucifer’s is working at a strip club and the community she builds, the tragic story of the main character’s demise, and her love affair with Lucifer.

The last handful of chapters had the bulk of the story, the action, and the most significant editing errors.

Final Thoughts: It was dark, gritty, twisted, and brimming with revenge energy. But it didn’t live up to its possibilities and I struggled to emotionally connect with the FMC, her plight, and her undeadness. But Dawn Darling is an author that I haven’t heard of and I’ll read again because I enjoyed her writing style.

I received an advance reader copy of this book, but this review reflects my honest, unbiased opinion. Receiving an ARC did not influence my rating or review in any way.

Unwanted is a quick-paced story that combines selling your soul to the devil with a compassionate story of revenge. The FMC isn’t cowardly in situations; instead, she runs headstrong into action. That very well may be how she got herself into this predicament in the beginning. As a first read by Darling, it definitely won’t be my last.

**spoilers**

Dany has been in a pickle since the day she sold her soul to Lucifer. Held with the burden of giving him three souls in order to keep her freedom, her provocative lifestyle is the perfect charm to lure men to their deaths. But one night, she targets five men who appear to be assaulting her. Until a knight in shiny armor arrives with a gun, causing them to scatter.

She starts to confine in him as a safety blanket. See, Dany works as Ivy in a strip club alongside her closest friends. But soon, one by one, they start not showing up for their shifts. This is normal to the owner as they are their own contracted workers, but to Dany, it raises suspicion.

But Lucifer has never lost sight on her. He knows the connections between the missing girls and her new profound love, but is content on watching it all play out. Because once she’s killed the last name on her list, she’ll be free from the chains that bind her to him. But after everything is revealed, will that be something she wants?

This is a thrilling and sexy story about hardships, revenge, and dispair. Dany is a badass FMC that truly dives into her role to feed Luci souls every year. This is upright her story and her empowerment becomes her uprising as she learns the hard way about trust. I absolutely love how Luci is depicted in the story. Less an a**hole and more an optimistic soul eater who goes for the ones deserving of such fate. The dynamic between the two is spectacular and honestly, I wouldn’t mind a little more from this couple.

⚠️Check your triggers⚠️

Thank you to Dawn Darling for the opportunity to read this unique story.

What would you do to get revenge on the men who brutally attacked you? Sell your soul to the devil as you die? That’s exactly what Dany did with her last breath. Now, 33 years later, she is out of time to fulfill her end of the bargain. Time has finally come for her to end the man who took her life. Twist of fate has Dany “rescued” by a mysterious man as she works to pay her yearly due to the devil. The stranger has Dany questioning all of her emotions and what she knows to be truth. Her friends one-by-one start disappearing as she nears to the moment of her revenge. Will she be able to win her freedom, or will an unexpected reveal end her decade's long plan.

This story was unexpected and I loved the twists that Darling wove into this book. Dany lived in anger and revenge for years and the introduction of Joe brought a new life to her eyes. Darling did an amazing job depicting the turmoil Dany experienced and the uncertainty she faced when learning who to trust. I could not put it down and needed to know how Dany found her way to the end of her journey.

Tropes:
Revenge Plot
Deal with the Devil
80s Grunge

Mental Health Rep

Favorite Quotes:
"There is not a moment in my existence that I could ever let you slip away. I will always save you, Dany. In any universe, before any jury or judgment…I would see heaven and hell fall just so you could burn. Do you understand?”

“Death is easy, but life? It is a bloody battle that casts you out the moment you slip.”

Unwanted is a standalone dark comedic paranormal romance about a woman who made a deal with the devil to get her revenge. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts are my own. Thank you to the author and R&R Book Tours for my print ARC.

Tropes and themes include:
✨Serial unaliver FMC
✨Morally dark, dark gray MCs
✨Forced proximity
✨Wicked banter
✨Betrayal
✨Mental health rep
✨Best cat-sidekick ever
✨Revenge
✨Slowburn
✨80s noir/grunge vibes

Rating: 4/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Nickname: Niepozadany

The Lovely: The banter, heck, sometimes even just the FMC’s thoughts, had me cackling and snort-laughing on the regular. And oh did the forty pound Maine Coon steal the show. He resonated with me (*glares at cat kneading thigh while I’m typing*). For me this was the perfect blend of darkness and humor.

The Mundane: I didn’t feel like we really got to know the FMC until fairly late in the story and while I adored her personality, I struggled to connect with her. Maybe this was, at least partially, due to thee flashbacks. I also would have liked to see more scenes between her and the MMC - I think that would have helped invest me in their relationship.

Recommendation: This was a fun read that had me giggling (what can I say, I like dark humor). I also liked that it was a standalone. If you like dark comedy (yes, this is one where you need to read the content warnings) with a jerk cat, crazy neighbor and full-on chaos in the FMC’s life, I think you would like this book.

To answer your question at the end….this Darling is definitely obsessed!

Dany and Luci are just what I needed! They have banter, sass, #squad vibes, kick ass female energy, desire and heat, pining; though Dawn makes us think it’s all a crush Dany has but weaves in little bits that Luci is fighting against his want for her, and some “it was always you” to squeal over. I loved the little love triangle vibes between Dany, Lucifer, and Joe and it throws an interesting wrench into the story. Everything is not always as it seems and I love those plots! I like being Nancy Drew on the case to try and figure out how it’s going to go. Everything leads up to a satisfying HEA (though I could read these two for way more lol). There’s twists that even got me and it’s packed with witty characters, action moments, and some super hot scenes! I cackled out loud at Dany’s one liners and her grunge rock style. She made a deal with the Devil and got way more than she bargained for (in more ways than one). There were also moments to tug at your heart strings a little but overall this book is a fast, fun read that you don’t want to put down!

Please make sure to check your TW/CW ad this book deals with darker themes like SA on page, murder, revenge, religious jokes/lore (God, Lucifer, Angels/Demons, Heaven and Hell, Biblical history with a twist).

I read as a Beta/ARC reader and my thoughts are my own.

This book gets 3.5 stars from me.

It wasn't a bad book but left some wanting for a story from me. Also check your triggers before reading this book. While some things are not explained in detail, there is mention of certain things on page.

This is a story of Dani who was killed after being "used" by 3 guys.. She makes a deal with the devil to seek revenge. The story is how she goes through being a stripper and seeking her revenge 33 years later. As the story progresses, she learns more about the people in her life and works to help save others. I would have liked to see what happened to her found family from the strip club. And I can't remember if the twins were with the others or not. That just kinda ended with no ending on what happened. The ending could have been better with the "dust/crumbling" of items in the area where she is at (in hell). I wish there was a better ending. I guess it was just there for me. It was sweet and a HEA in a way but the way it ended left me wanting more. Also I did like the revenge and how she made a deal to have on repeat but also it didn't give much into the recognition. I would have liked to see more on this part to really know that the repeat would have been agony. Like bring the pain to him.

Overall it wasn't bad and I was provided a copy from the author. It did make an interesting story I will say about how the fallen angel fell and a different why behind it. And it was a fast read for me. I read it in 1 day on a weekend.

"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” Unwanted. If you enjoy dark paranormal romance, this beautiful book is a must read. The story follows Dany, who makes a deal with Lucifer to avenge her death. From the very beginning, the sharp banter between them is engaging, and their chemistry develops steadily as the story unfolds. Interwoven flashbacks reveal the events surrounding Dany’s tragic death 33 years earlier, adding depth and emotional weight.
As part of her bargain, Dany must deliver three souls each year, choosing only those she believes truly deserve their fate. Driven by revenge, she relentlessly hunts down those responsible for her torture and death, showcasing her strength, determination, and moral complexity.
Lucifer remains fully committed to helping Dany complete her final task, and his growing attraction to her heightens the tension and witty exchanges between them. Dany never holds back when speaking to Lucifer, which makes their dynamic both entertaining and compelling. The story also offers intriguing insight into Lucifer’s past and the reasons behind his fall from Heaven.
Overall, this is a beautiful book filled with dark romance, strong character development, and captivating storytelling a must read. 💛

Y'all. This book was not at all what I expected.
It was so freakin' funny I couldn't stop laughing.
The sass of the FMC, Dany, was the highlight of my days. There were so many of her lines that I was like yeah girl, you tell 'em!! Even just her interaction with Lucifer, calling him Luci and being so like dismissive of his title and who he is to everyone else, but to her he was just another guy. A guy she happened to owe a debt to and was totally crushing on throughout the book, but still, a guy, nonetheless.
And Barb? That snarky next-door neighbor that was absolutely bat s**t crazy? I loved her. She was the best, and I hope we get a spin-off of her because there is so much story in there that I want to read about and know.
Jesus? I have never loved a fictional cat more. Because he was sassy and the way Dany talked to him was very much the way I believe all owners talk to their fur babies and his interactions are very much the responses fur owners get.
There is so much to unpack for Dany and her trying to make amends for who she is and who she was not and did not get to be because of her untimely death. There are dreams that were never achieved and the idea that what you want might not be what you grew into wanting. The idea that someone can love you in this space you are now and see you beyond the disappointment you were in life, or that you believed you were, can be a balm to the soul.

Absolutely one of my TOP reads for 2025! Dawn knocked this one out of the park fo sho!

Our fmc is an undead stripper bound to the devil who must keep her end of the bargain to finally be free and get her revenge who totally gives Megan Fox energy from Jennifers Body....a spicy mainecoon sidekick who likes to be a complete inconvenience the entire time because he's total king energy....Luci...the literal king of hell himself always getting in the way of things and giving mixed signals to our girl 😉 and maybe just maybe she might get out of this deal with him?

I absolutely LOVED this book! I laughed...cried...cussed...many wtfs...many wtf Dawns🤣...cried from laughing...giggled...the one liners are immaculate...the pop culture references are fantastic...giggled in my throat like the grinch multiple times...kicked my feet...fanned myself (especially the car hood scene 😜) jammed out to some 80s bangers...the Playlist is gonna be 🔥 for this if you love 80s music!

it hits ALL the vibes!! its gotta killer stripper I mean come on!

SUPER FUN READ!!!!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest and real review.

This book was really promising and I went into it with the knowledge of all the triggers and the content warnings. None of that bothered me. Some of it was funny at times!

Where I marked some stars down, was with the writing and order of the book. From the beginning, every time she mentioned the marks on her arm and the deal she made with Lucifer, she said different details about it. I started to get confused after the fifth time it was mentioned as to what exactly the deal was and her deadline she had to meet. The inner dialogue seemed all over the place and it was really hard to follow at times.

There were a few paragraphs that were repeated, with a slight wording change in the second paragraph. I understand that ARCS may contain some typos or editing errors before final print, but these were pretty big editing errors and they affected the ease of readability.

I overall liked the story and the ending.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I really liked the concept and the way that the characters evolved was everything a reader could ask for. This is my first read from Dawn and I absolutely loved the way she wrote Dany. I appreciated that she didn't use the staple self-loathing badass FMC. Yeah Dany had moments of self-doubt but what girl doesn't? I thought Dany's wittiness was so well placed and her slick remarks had me laughing the whole time and highlighting all those little comments. I loved the back and forth between Dany and Luci. Dawn did a fabulous job writing the Joe and making him seem good, but suspiciously good. His character gave me weird vibes from the jump (maybe that's my own trauma) but I do think that gave me a good upper hand in relating to Dany's hesitations towards him. Overall, I think this book was great and I'd definitely recommend it to others. Huge thanks to Dawn for sending me this ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.

If I had gone through the same thing as Dany, I would’ve sold my soul for revenge too. I really enjoyed this one. I do wish there had been a little more buildup with the relationships and backstory, but overall it was a solid read.

What really stood out to me was Dany herself. Her snark and sass had me laughing, but beneath that she’s fierce, unapologetic, and driven by everything she’s endured. She’s a force to be reckoned with and genuinely doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Even her cat reflects that same energy and fully embodies those classic cat vibes, which added some fun moments to the story.

The revenge aspect felt earned, and the dark, sharp humor helped balance out the heavier moments. The MMC gave me major Lucifer vibes with his charm and morally gray energy, and the tension between them was fun to watch unfold.

If you enjoy strong FMCs, dangerous MMCs, and revenge-driven stories with plenty of banter, this one is worth checking out

“Love was for the living.
Vengeance was for the dead.”

My oh my this was an absolute blast!!! I was hooked from the very first sentence. IYKYK 👀

Dany has met her end after a terrible night and made a deal with the devil. Delivering him souls in exchange for her immortality to get her revenge.
As the end of their deal gets closer she meets someone who makes her feel things she hasn’t in a long time. But Joe may not be who she thinks he is.

This was such a fun read! I found myself laughing, crying, BLUSHING and feeling full of love. Fast paced and doused in tons of dark humor and great spice.
I really enjoyed the connection between Dany and Lucifer. His backstory is great as well!
Love the demons and angels theme in this. Dawn did amazingly well tying it all in. I’ve never read a book with the angels and demons theme that had the backstory this one did

I am completely and utterly obsessed with this book. It’s wonderfully written and intriguing from the first line to the last. It’s a unique story that I haven’t read before. I love the premise and the depth of the characters. Plus got to love a book with a good bit of feminine rage and a judgmental cat. I laughed. I raged. I felt it all. And so did our FMC. She went from being completely consumed by the need to avenge her own death to feeling so much more than rage, wondering if love is possible for her. The twists and turns in the story were epically done. And that glorious tension, I enjoyed that. Plus the ending was so very satisfying. I read this book straight through in one sitting and don’t regret a single minute of my decision. If you’re a fan of the dark and macabre, and don’t mind some sacrilege and stabbing, this is a book I highly recommend.

I was gifted an ARC of this book and this is my honest review. There are many trigger warnings for this book so be sure you read them. I really liked the FMC Dany. After her murder she is given a deal with the devil to avenge herself but there is a time limit. She finds herself falling for Lucifer however and is scared of what future lies ahead when she completes their deal. She also meets a man who makes her think that maybe she could enjoy a nice normal life. She must decide what she wants, though she is unsure what is even possible for her. She must face her fears of the unknown. This is a pretty tame description of the book, however! She’s feisty and takes care of her friends. The book has some great side characters including her cat, Jesus. I don't want to go in to too much more detail for fear of spoilers. Overall this was a very enjoyable read!

“Had I known the devil would have taken a blowjob, I might not have offered him my soul.”

I knew from the first sentence that I was in for a wild ride. Morally black enemies-to-lovers for the page-turning win!

I loved Dany. Her internal monologue creates so many comedic moments. I found myself falling for the Devil.

I loved the twists and turns around eternity!

One of my favorite books of 2025 😈

Thanks, Dawn, for the advanced read 🖤

A few notes about me as a reader:

😎 I read for the vibes. If the atmosphere is right, I’m all in.
😿 If I cry at the end because I’m sad it’s over, it’s an automatic five stars.
⭐️ I review books with an open heart, not a red pen. Plot holes, lighter character development, and other common critiques aren’t at the top of my list. What matters most is this: Did I love it? Did it take me somewhere else?

I picked this up “just to get a feel for it” and suddenly my coffee was cold, my house was quiet, and I was sitting there like… okay wow I’m emotionally attached now 😭

This one is chaotic-funny because the jokes sneak in right when things get intense and somehow make it sharper, emotionally punchy because the characters carry so much hurt under their sarcasm, and so addictive because every chapter made me NEED to know what kind of mess they’d get into next.

Dany pulled me in hard. She’s tough but still soft in tiny flashes that made my heart ache for her, and the chemistry with the love interests felt real and layered instead of rushed. The spice was bold but it actually meant something, and the banter had me smiling like an idiot.

The whole vibe was dark, messy, funny, and weirdly sweet at the same time… and I loved every second of it.

3.25 STARS

This was really enjoyable and funny! I honestly would have rated this higher if it there was slightly less comedy as it's not really something I lean towards in my books, but if it is for you, you will love this. I know quite a few people who would resonate with dealing with trauma through comedy and redirection, which the FMC in this story Dany leaned into heavily.

Things I loved:
- Unapologetic FMC
- Grumpy ass cat hilariously named "Jesus"
- "dearest Dany"
- deals with the devil
- a revenge tour
- morally gray FMC
- love triangle
- Barb (IYKYK)

Definitely check the trigger warnings, but if you get past those, you'll have a great time.

Big thank you to Dawn for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Ending 2025 with an unhinged dark romcom! Dany a psycho stripper finds herself in debt to the devil himself after a night full of terrors and left for dead. She becomes Satans assassin killing mfs who deserve it paying Lucifer back with their souls while trying to get the ultimate revenge. Does she fulfill her debt? Will she get revenge? Does she fall in love for the wrong guy? Is the bad guy the devil? The Father? The Son? Maybe the Holy Spirit?

"Jesus Lucifer fucking Christ" - one of the many favorite lines in the book.

Bayou Barb truly a mastermind that loves The Pavlovian Theory and Jesus the cat with a bad attitude mos def my favorite side characters. And if you guys want to get know them too order your copy of Unwanted now!
