Mark of The Night

One life is all most mortals have. So what exactly is one life worth?

Before Grace Gillingham was kidnapped out of the twenty-first century, the mortal thief would never have dared to attempt to outwit Death. But that’s exactly what she must do to save her brother.

Once her brother is free, there is nothing that will stop her from destroying the criminal organization that stranded her in antiquity—even if it means being hunted by the Four Horsemen.

Burned once by the fates, the Commander of the Four Horsemen, Dante Giovanni, disregards a prophecy claiming that he is destined to a woman bearing the mark of the night. But when Grace steals an ancient relic he is sworn to protect, their fates become irrevocably intertwined.

Dante soon realizes Grace is merely an innocent pawn. Even so, he’s under orders to protect the realms and apprehend her. If he spares Grace, he risks putting all living beings in danger. If he condemns the fiery mortal, his conscience will forever haunt him. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t, what’s Death to do?

Until this moral conundrum, Dante believed he understood the worth of a human life. But that was before he met the woman he’d risk his soul to save…

Mark of the Night is Book One in the Servants of Four Horsemen series, a historical epic fantasy filled with romance, action, and intrigue that spans time and the Mediterranean world.

The cover of the book immediately caught my attention. It has a mysterious and mystical quality in its simplicity.

I just finished reading The First Encounter, the prequel to this story, which is the first book in the Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen series by Caterina Novelliere. She masterfully weaves together Egyptian mythology, history, lore, and religion, and I absolutely loved it. The prequel surprised me in a good way, and I am happy to report that this book did the same. Like the prequel, I found myself so engrossed in the story that it ended before I was ready.

Mark of The Night is a paranormal romance and fantasy adventure filled with so much to love. It features deception, secrets, action, war, immortals, High Councils, relics, time travel, prophecies, quests, conspiracy, and much more.

Grace can outpace the Four Horsemen, but to save a loved one, she must get close to them. However, getting close means facing certain death, but that won’t deter her. What she doesn't expect is to encounter Death himself. He is much more complex than she ever imagined, but can one truly love death?

That's all I’m willing to reveal. You'll have to read it for yourself!

Dante Giovanni is the head of the Four Horseman and is given a task to protect a relic. Grace Gillingham wants little to do with Qasim, the leader of the Hasan but when he makes a bargain she cannot refuse no matter how much she wants to, Grace finds herself focused on stealing the relic Dante holds.

There is a melodic quality to this story. You are pulled in by all the characters but I found myself entranced by Grace. She is masterful in what she does and you find yourself eager to learn more about her. I really liked Dante and the way he interacts with Grace. Full of twists and turns, I was thinking the story was going one way only to be surprised when it went in a different direction.

Mark the Night by Caterina Novelliere was such an amazing mix of fantasy, history, and action—I really got pulled into it. I love stories with time travel and strong female leads, and Grace totally delivered. She’s tough, smart, and thrown into a wild situation that kept me turning the pages. The whole Roman-era setting was unexpected but worked so well with the supernatural twist.

Dante and the Four Horsemen added a dark, mysterious vibe that I couldn’t get enough of. The chemistry, the danger, the secrets—it all made for a fun, intense read. I’m definitely interested in seeing where this series goes next. Caterina Novelliere has a unique style, and I’m excited to check out more of her books.

From the first chapter, Mark of the Night completely drew me in, a delicious blend of myth, magic, and sizzling tension that had me hooked until the very end. Caterina Novelliere crafts such a vivid world, seamlessly tying together Celtic and Egyptian mythology with rich lore and emotional depth. It’s the kind of story that feels both timeless and fresh, like slipping into an ancient dream where gods still whisper through the pages.
One of the things I loved most was the language woven throughout; the way the characters speak in their own tongues adds so much authenticity and atmosphere. It made the world feel alive, layered, and steeped in history. And those alternating POVs? Absolute perfection. Getting both Grace and Dante’s perspectives gave the story a heartbeat that pulsed with intensity, longing, and connection.
Grace is everything I love in a heroine: strong, stubborn, and beautifully human. Dante’s presence balances her so well: powerful yet vulnerable, dangerous but magnetic. Their chemistry leaps off the page, and their emotional growth kept me glued from start to finish.
The writing itself is lush and cinematic, the pacing fast without feeling rushed. Every scene builds toward something bigger, whether it’s romance, revelation, or raw emotional impact. The spice is definitely there, passionate, unapologetic, and perfectly in tune with the characters’ journey rather than just there for shock value.
While the story does contain heavier themes (see trigger warnings above), they’re handled with gravity and intention. It’s dark at times, yes, but never gratuitous; every moment serves the story and the growth of its characters.
Overall, Mark of the Night is a stunning start to a series that blends fantasy, romance, and mythology in a way that feels epic yet intimate. It’s everything I want in a romantasy: mythic stakes, multi-layered characters, and a romance that burns as fiercely as it heals. I’ll definitely be diving into the next book as soon as I can, because this world has its hooks in me, and I’m not ready to leave it yet.

I absolutely ate this epic fantasy up! This sizzled in all the best ways! It was written so differently than many recent books I have read, it had an ancient supernatural mythology feel that was refreshing and totally unique. The plot had so much depth and every interaction was mysterious and engaging and kept me hooked wanting to find out what happened next. I loved the lore surrounding the four horsemen, it's what initially drew me to this book and it didn't disappoint. The timeline was interesting and like nothing I have ever read in the past, I loved the time jumps, the history, the magic, the duality of light and dark, life and death, the forbidden love, the creeping sense of fate that seems to swallow you whole in some parts..everything seemed to weave the characters together and tie into something much bigger than what you are expecting. I adored Grace, she was a formidable, sexy FMC who was the perfect blend of imperfect, inherently trusting, brave and in some moments perfectly human and I love that she was written so dynamically compared to some of the other characters. Her journey to discovering and trusting herself was raw and addictive and the tension and yearning for Dante was spot on. Their relationship started out a little quick for me but it flowed with the storyline flawlessly so I didn't mind it and they both had such a dangerous, mysterious, spicy chemistry that built all the way through the book until the end. This was high emotional stakes with dark twists and turns and even though it was a longer book, I flew through it and didn't even notice. I cant wait to read more, the ending left me wanting to see what happens next and yet was 100% satisfying in every way. 4 🌟s for a vivid, enthralling read that kept me up reading late into the night. Grace has many things on her list of priorities, but outwitting death is not one of them. However, when an old enemy threatens a loved one, Grace is forced to go toe to toe with death to steal a relic. What she doesn’t expect is to find him alluring as well as infuriating.

I thought this fantasy had an interesting premise, and given that I enjoyed the novella ‘The First Encounter’, which is a prequel to this, I fully expected to completely adore this, but unfortunately, this just wasn't for me. For whatever reason, I found it difficult to connect with Dante and Grace, and sometimes I just found myself frustrated by the push-pull of their relationship. I guess I just couldn’t buy them fully as enemies, but also found it difficult to understand their feelings for one another, which I felt developed quite quickly, and as I’ve said before, I prefer slow burn romances.
There were also some aspects of the magic that Dante and the other immortals possessed that I didn’t fully understand, and I felt the rules perhaps could have been explained better. That being said, I should say that I did read this whilst I was incredibly ill and on some quite strong pain killers, so there may be some aspects of the book that were lost on me simply because I wasn’t fully with it. Perhaps a complex fantasy wasn’t the best reading choice, ah, well. I fully intend to give this book another chance in the future, and I do want to read the rest of the series, as the world that Novelliere has created is vibrant and magical, and incredibly creative.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys steamy fantasy romances, with strong female leads, and a cheeky and charming Male lead that is completely head over heels for the female lead. Novelliere's writing is engaging and immersive, and her characters really jump off the page.

Mark of the Night by Caterina Novelliere
4 Stars

The author blends mythology, darkness, forbidden attraction, and a creeping sense of fate into a story that feels both ancient and dangerously new. The tone of the book is rich and atmospheric. You can feel the shadows moving around the characters, and that’s part of the magic. There’s a sense that nothing is accidental, that everything—from the setting to the supernatural elements—has a purpose tied to something bigger and older than the characters themselves.

Grace is: imperfect, questioning, brave in moments and terrified in others—which makes her incredibly human despite the supernatural spiral her life becomes. Her journey is part self-discovery, part survival, part destiny, and watching her navigate those threads is addictive. The tension between her and Dante is both emotional and romantic. The chemistry builds slowly, with a mix of fascination, danger, and longing that feels earned rather than forced. If you love romances with a dark twist and layered emotional stakes, this book delivers.

The supernatural mythology woven into the plot adds depth rather than distraction. There’s the sense of an ancient history lurking behind every interaction, and the author does a great job of revealing just enough at a time to keep the reader hooked while leaving room for unanswered questions—perfect for a series. By the time the ending hits, you’re left with that rare mix of satisfaction and craving more—because even though some threads come together beautifully, others are clearly just beginning. Although I did find the book long, I don’t think the author could have made it shorter. It’s perfect for readers who love dark fantasy, myth-driven plots, mysterious enemies-turned-something-more.

I'm not entirely certain how I feel about this book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book read like 700 pages of coincidences, which furthered the plot line. Dante always just ended up in the right place at the right time, with very minimal reason. There was no explanation as to why Grace ran with trusting him, there were no real enemies to lovers element, the POV changes were quite jarring as they happened in the same chapter and you'd only really find out midway through a paragraph that it had changed person.

Maybe me not reading the prequel is why I struggled with this so much, but I don't think you should have to read a 0.5 book to get information for the main series in the way that reading the other reviews here have made the prequel to sound.

The downsides aside, this is a GORGEOUS book. It is culturally rich, there is clearly a world that the author has put a lot of work into to develop and stay true to, and a whole magic system which I'm sure they poured hours of their time into. The writing is incredible, it does suck you in until you hit a POV change which jarred it a little, but I easily found myself inhaling paragraphs until the early hours because it was so easy to get caught up in the text.

I'll probably read the rest of the series for the world and writing.

Mark of the Night launches the Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen series with a thrilling blend of historical fantasy, high-stakes action, and fated romance. The story centers on Grace, a twenty-first-century professional thief who is violently thrust back into the Roman-occupied Mediterranean world of the fourth century. To save a loved one, Grace is forced into a deadly quest: stealing a powerful relic from Dante Giovanni, the arrogant and impulsive Commander of the Four Horsemen. The novel excels in its detailed historical setting, combining intrigue from the Ancient Mediterranean with classic paranormal tropes like "Fated Mates" and "Rivals to Lovers." Dante, burned by prophecy, initially disregards his destiny but finds his world irrevocably tied to Grace's as their cat-and-mouse game unfolds across Morocco. The romance is intense while the historical backdrop—full of political tension, ancient criminal organizations, and the looming presence of the supernatural—provides a grand, sweeping canvas for their conflict. This is an epic opening that will appeal to readers who enjoy fast-paced action and a powerful, destined connection between characters set against a meticulously researched historical stage.

Mark of the Night was a decent read. Didn't really give that whole enemies to lovers vibe that I thought it would... almost immediately they had a huge attraction to each other and little to no hatred. He was instantly intrigued and curious about a type of person he hadn't encountered in over 600 years on earth, she was reluctantly attracted to him and kept trying to talk herself out of it since he was her mark.
There was a lot that I felt like I was missing in the first few chapters, had to double check that this was indeed the first of the series, which it is. Found out that there was a novella before this, maybe there's more backstory there? I don't know, but we are changing time period (by centuries) and locations instantly and our characters along with it...
Once you get passed all that, it was actually a good book. The characters were well-written, and Grace is a tough girl without the 'pick me' vibe that I've been seeing in a lot of outside the mold FMC lately. I did like the tension between Dante and Grace and the situation she found herself in was a unique storyline, just wish it had better explanation of what the heck is going on haha. Would pick up the 2nd in the series when it comes out.

Mark of the Night is Book #1 in the Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen series by Caterina Novelliere. After reading the prequel, ‘The First Encounter’, I was quite excited to continue this engrossing series.
This book follows on from the events in the prequel, weaving a fantastic historical romantic fantasy which flows through time – bringing plenty of action, adventure, fate/destiny, paranormal elements, conflict, culture, immortals, myths, secrets, agendas, tension, drama, intrigue, chemistry, and mystery.
As I mentioned in my review for the prequel, the author had me at ‘Four Horsemen’, so the rest was just icing on the cake… but the story continues to build, twisting and turning, and pulling me deeper into its embrace the further I go. Dante and Grace, and the rest of the cast, certainly have me entirely invested, and I can’t wait to dive into ‘When the Moon Bleeds’ (Book #2) to see where things go from here.
So, if you love romantasy with plenty of originality, intriguing characters, action, and adventure – then you will definitely want to dive into this series asap.
Happy reading…

Mark of the Night is the first book in the series Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen, by the author Caterina Novelliere. This is an absolutely wonderful book that captured me from the very beginning. It is full of myth, fated romance, and magic with a great deal of both emotional and character depth. The timeline is mixed between the 21st century, where the MFC Grace is from, and then the 4th century Roman/Ancient Mediterranean era that she is thrusted into and meets the Commander of the Four Horseman, Dante Giovanni.

Grace is a modern thief, while Dante is a powerful Commander bound by honor and duty. They both are extremely stubborn, but their chemistry blends so well together. The way the author writes their story, both the romance growing between them and their inner individual personality is done exceptionally well. The book does contain some heavier topics, so if you have any triggers, please check out the trigger warnings beforehand!

I personally really enjoyed this book, and cannot wait to read the next one. If you are into mythology, morally grey themes, romance with headstrong characters (especially the FMC), then this is the book for you!

Thank you, Caterina Novelliere and Booksirens for this book! It is an adventure from the very beginning!
I have read the prequel "The first encounter" and I was intrigued: by the story, by the multitude of characters and about the plot.
This book, first in the series, is actually the story of Grace and Dante, Commander of The Four Horsemen, aka Death. The chemistry and banter between the two is delightful, the story is rather catchy and remains imprinted in the mind of the reader. Caterina Novelliere is a real storyteller, and that shows in this novel!
I can honestly say that I have finally found another 2 characters as deserving of hate and contempt as Voldemort and Umbrige from the Harry Potter universe in Quasim and Rasil! Very well written villains! God, I hated Quasim!
Long story short, I enjoyed reading this book very much! For me it would be a 4.5-5 stars. Thank you for the opportunity to read " Mark of the Night"!

This is the first book in the Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen series. I was captivated by this series from the prequel. This is a fantasy romance filled with danger, historical references, mythology and so much more.
In this story we are back with Dante and Grace. Dante is the leader of the Four Horsemen and he was sent to Isis to retrieve the Eye to keep it out of the hands of their enemy.
Grace has been given a task she doesn't want but can't say no to. She has been told to steal the Eye to save her brother. But this is no easy task not only does she have to cross paths with Dante but she also has to deal with the feelings he provokes inside her.
When Dante finds out the reason she stole from him he will stop at nothing to protect her and retrieve the artifact to protect the world.
But will Grace trust him enough to accept his help or will her stubborness and the belief that she can do it alone cause her to lose her brother and put the world at risk?
I love this series and I can't wait for the next one

Mark of the Night by Caterina Novelliere is a great start to the Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen series! I did not read the prequel, but didn't feel like I missed out on a whole lot of information. Novelliere did a great job of connecting the dots for the readers like me who missed the previous book. From the very beginning, I was hooked. The vividly descriptive world-building coupled with surprisingly realistic characters created a mesmerizing story that had me hooked from beginning to end. Mark of the Night has it all: history, mythology, secrets, time travel, secrets, emotions, and so much more! The connection between Grace and Dante is intense and full of longing. At 740 pages, this book is lengthy without being overwhelming, full of knowledge, romance, and action. Using dual points of view, Novelliere creates an amazing ebb and flow story that is hard to put down. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Mark of the Night (Servants of Morrigan: Four Horseman Series Book 1) by Caterina Novelliere
5 Star Review
In this book, Grace is a thief from the modern world who time travels and finds herself dealing with relics and prophecies. She meets Dante, who is a commander in the fantasy world. Dante is bound by duty and fate but soon finds himself having to make a choice that is unfamiliar to him. These two together are a dangerous combination.
Caterina Novelliere is a wizard a world building. The description is so vivid that you can almost visualize it. The mixture of modern and fantasy worlds are sometimes a little hard to follow but well worth it. The author is very creative in how she draws the reader in both with the romantic aspect as well as the action scenarios.
This book is not for anyone who doesn’t like a romantic, yet morally gray story. If you do love that in a book mixed in with mythology and time travel, this book is for you .

Mark of The Night by Caterina Novelliere. This is the first book in the Servants of Morrigan: Four Horsemen series. Its a historical romantic Fantasy and its full of spice and thrilling adventures. It's the story of Grace who has been stolen from the 21st century and forced to be a thief for the enemy. When she gets caught she is labeled a traitor. Dante is the Horseman of death and when he meets Grace the chemistry is off the charts. When Grace has to lie, cheat and steal to save her brother she does it but is then again not sure she will survive. Dante has finally seen that Grace is just a innocent pawn but if he lets her live it will put all the others in danger. Dante knows that he won't be able to live with himself if he kills her but he may not survive if he lets her live. What will he do. This book is full of adventure, love and history. Such a great read. I can't wait for the next book!

Mark of the Night is an immersive historical epic fantasy, filled with time travel, romance, and even the Devil himself. Starring Grace Gillingham, who is a 21st-century thief who is stolen away to Antiquity. Her goal is to save her brother, but first she must outwit Death, the Commander of the Four Horsemen. If she is successful, she will not only save her brother but also rain hellfire on the criminal syndicate that put her on this mission in the first place.
I don’t want to give away too many details, but this book was definitely in-depth, in characters, scenery, and ambiance. Novelliere worked diligently to create a world that was both dense and atmospheric. This book was definitely worth getting into. I love the “who did this to you” trope, with fated mates and insta-lust thrown in for good measure. If you are looking for a book with the perfect mix of fantasy and romance, then this is one you need to add to your TBR today!

Hmmm, where to begin? Mark of the Night is captivating, delicious, thrilling, and so so good! It is a longer book, but in the best possible way. It has witty banter, fantastically grounded friendships, wonderful world building, and ohhhh let me tell you - the tension and flirtation and did I mention tension between our love interests? Is one life worth the balance of everyone else? What if that one life isn’t who you expect? I looove the relationships in this book between the myriad of characters. There is a large group of people to keep track of, and a lot of world-building to build up; however - Caterina takes her time and explores/really fleshes out the little details that are the foundation to every good story. For example - characters from different regions will intersperse words or mannerisms from their language/culture, but in a very natural way. If you are a fan of high fantasy, slow burn, found family, and …sparring ;)...Then you will love this book

Wow what a brilliant book! This story is absolutely thrilling, touching, both lighthearted and intense, with chemistry as a constant red thread during their journey. I enjoyed the amount of spice that was hanging in the air!

I loved the main characters and I found myself rooting for them and being on the edge of my seat from the first page until the end.

Caterina Novelliere wrote an enchanting fantasy story with Gods, myths, divine artifacts, in several historian and cultural settings. The story is absolutely a page turner and the writing style is vivid.

After reading the end of this book, I can only look forward for the next part, as I’m desperately curious about what lies ahead for Grace, Dante, Rayne, Destahn, Tamir and the rest of Morrigans crew.

For readers who like a good fantasy story with historical elements, suspense, a lot of twists, turns, intrigues and on top of the cake, the ideal amount of spice hanging in the air.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. I enjoy their creativity of characters that are engaging and just pop off the pages. One of the other things I enjoy about this author is their ability to pull me into the story from the start. This is a well written story that is full of romance and the best fantasy adventure. Grace and Dante are great characters and they made their adventure easy to read. They are connectable and kept me wanting to know more about what would happen next. I enjoyed how supportive all the characters were to each other. I also enjoyed watching the growth of the adventure throughout which added to the character development. This is a great story and I found this book to be fast paced and hard to put down. I look forward to seeing what is next for this series. I highly recommend this book.

Grace was stolen from the 21st century, taken back in time, and forced to be a thief for the bad guy, then she was labeled as a traitor. When she, once again, has to do the bad guys bidding to save her brother, she is thrust into a whole new set of challenges. Meeting and besting one of the four horseman, death himself. Once their paths cross, they cannot seem to be without one another, which is good for the horseman because Grace ends up being more than just a good mortal thief. Mark of the Night by Caterina Novelliere is an amazing story – history, love, action, friendship, and time travel. Grace is sassy, a true strong independent woman, who knows how to hold her own even against death. The four horsemen are sassy, kind, and hold all the power to destroy the world, but even death has a soft spot. Fantastic book! I look forward to the rest of the series.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and it is not my usual genre.
It was a really good read, blending mythology, magic and tension. It has good alternating POVs which I enjoyed! I love the unique ways the characters speak. I wasn’t expecting this book to have spice, but I really enjoyed that since I usually read Dark Romance. The book overall is well written and very interesting. The characters really draw you in and get your attention. I would have liked more details or backgrounds on the characters. I enjoy their creativity of characters that are engaging and just pop off the pages. This story that is full of romance and the best fantasy adventure. The book is fast paced and hard to put down. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the series turns out! I recommend to all the romantasy readers!

Well I did not see this series coming! This book was really good for a first book. At first I didn't like Dante. Not one bit, but then he grew on me. Each author has their own depiction of the horseman of Death and Caterina's version of Death is one I'm all here for! I'm still on the fence with Qasim I'm still on the fence with. I'm not sure if I hate, him hate him, or he's going to be one of those characters I just love to hate. We shall see with the next few books! Now for Grace. Grace is absolutely stubborn and won't deter from her path, but when she has to go up against the four horseman? Well... we shall see how far that stubbornness gets her. The story telling, mythology and the beautiful language that is sprinkled throughout, is so wonderfully done, it kept me wanting more. I can't wait for book 2 to come out!

Okay I thought the prequel had a hook in me lordy it ain’t got nothing on this one. While the prequel did its job of getting you hooked into this world hungry for answers and what will happen next Mark of the Night takes it to another level. Caterina Novelliere shows her passion for history in her writing as she blends different cultures mythology into one seamless story, a world where truly anything seems possible. Once I started in this world I couldn’t put it down. Sleepless nights and early mornings couldn’t keep me away from Dante and Grace and what would happen next. Even now I still need more of this world, answers to what will happen next. Now the hunt for book two, When the Moon Bleeds.

Mark of the Night is an uncommon breed of fantasy romance-an enthralling beast that captures you on page one and never lets you go, weaving in myth, magic, and raw emotion into a tale that seems ancient and yet vibrates with modernity. Novelliere's world is richly atmospheric-Celtic and Egyptian legends wrapped in lush detail, effortlessly flipping between modern grit and timeless prophecy. Grace and Dante are an electric pair; their chemistry crackles through every chapter, while their perspectives deepen the emotional pulse and tension of the story. The writing is vivid and cinematic, the sense scenes are intense but deliberate, and the pacing balances action, lore, and longing to perfection. An exquisite beginning to a series promising monumental stakes, layered characters, and a romance potent enough to defy fate.

I have not come across this author before but I was wonderfully rewarded with a gem of a book.
This is a paranormal romance that does dive into passion and spice quickly but it feeds the story rather than just having shock value and uniquely strengthens the characters in it.
Grace is a thief in the real world but time travels and finds herself in a fantasy world dealing with relics.
She comes across Dante who is a commander and strongly loyal but coming across Grace makes him start to question and be in uncomfortable decisions.
Grace is a strong and stubborn heroine who youd expect in a paranormal romance but shes complex and the author weaves a story filled with lore and 4 horseman story told her way.
Very enjoyable and I will be looking for more from this author.

Well, this novel was an amazing kickoff to a very engaging fantasy series with historical romance, mystery, mythology, and adventure. We have Grace, a strong female character who isn’t afraid to take on the four horsemen of the apocalypse on in order to save her brother. Dante is the commander of the horseman and has been sworn to protect an ancient relic that Grace ends up being forced to steal to save her brother. The author does a great job of writing a vivid story with well written characters that you want to learn more about and see what happens next. The author definitely will keep you guessing and there are plenty of twists and turns. I am excited to see what will happen in the next book!

Mark of the Night pulls you in from page one with its rich world-building, dark elegance, and characters who feel like they’re holding back secrets you can’t wait to uncover. Novelliere writes with an atmospheric style that makes every scene feel drenched in mystery, desire, and danger.

The chemistry between the leads is electric, the plot moves at a steady burn, and the supernatural elements blend seamlessly with the emotional tension. What really stands out is how the author balances romance and intrigue—giving you just enough answers to keep you satisfied, while still tempting you to turn “one more page.”

If you love seductive paranormal worlds, morally gray characters, and stories that keep you guessing, Mark of the Night is absolutely worth the read.

Mark of the Night by Caterina Novelliere is book 1 in the Servant of Morrigan: Four Horseman series. The story follows Grade who is a mortal who is forced to face death to save a loved one and steal a relic. Her journey is one of self-discovery. Along the way she meets Dante. The tension between the two slowly builds throughout the story, making the reader want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. Caterina has written a story that makes the reader keep turning the page to see what happens next. When the ending came, I was excited but also sad, because I wasn’t ready for the ending. Caterina does a great job of mixing history, mythology, and vivid story-telling into a dynamic read. I can’t wait for book 2!
