Be My Monster Valentine: A Midlife Monster Valentine Romance

Rate this book
When a runaway bride crashes into a gentle half-Sasquatch mountain man, their snowy refuge becomes the perfect place to discover that true love was worth the wait.

Everly thought she'd found her happily ever after until she caught her fiancé cheating on their wedding day. Now she's fleeing in her bridal gown through a mountain snowstorm, only to crash straight into the arms of Chuck, a seven-foot-tall, gorgeously rugged hermit who lives alone on Ravenhart Mountain.

At fifty-two and still holding her v-card thanks to a deathbed promise to her father, Everly never expected to find herself snowed in with a kind, shy mountain man whose gentle nature contradicts his beast-like appearance. Chuck has spent decades believing no woman could ever want a half-Sasquatch loner, but this fierce, curvy beauty sees past his wild exterior to the tender heart beneath.

Trapped together by the storm with crackling fires and undeniable chemistry, they both discover that some promises are meant to be broken. When passion finally ignites, the attraction between them proves impossible to resist.

But when the plows finally arrive, will their mountain romance survive the real world?

He was a (50 yo virgin) boy, she was a (50 yo virgin) girl?
Can I make it any more obvious?
She’s a runaway bride, he’s half Sasquatch.
What more can I say?

I went into Be My Monster Valentine expecting something quirky and over-the-top, and I came out completely charmed. This story is cozy, heartfelt, and surprisingly tender for a monster romance—and that’s exactly why it works.

Everly is having the worst day imaginable, and her escape straight into a snowstorm (wedding dress and all) felt both dramatic and darkly funny. Chuck, the reclusive half-Sasquatch mountain man, could’ve easily leaned scary, but instead he’s shy, gentle, and quietly lonely in a way that tugs at your heart. Watching these two circle each other—both convinced they’re unlovable for very different reasons—was genuinely sweet.

The forced proximity, crackling fireplace vibes, and snowy isolation create the perfect backdrop for trust to grow quickly but believably. I especially loved that this is a later-in-life romance. Everly’s age and life experience add emotional weight, and Chuck’s insecurity makes his softness feel earned rather than performative.

Yes, it’s instalove and unapologetically OTT, but it leans more toward comfort-read than shock value. The chemistry is warm, the humor lands, and the emotional payoff is satisfying without overstaying its welcome.

If you’re in the mood for something different—romantic, cozy, and just a little bit feral—this is a fun Valentine’s read with heart. A great start to the series and proof that sometimes the monster is the safest place to land.

This later-in-life monster romance is genuinely one of the most adorable and heartfelt stories I’ve read in this genre. Both main characters are in their 50s, which already makes this book stand out—and it uses that perspective beautifully.
The female main character never married and stayed a virgin after promising her father to wait until marriage. The male main character, a half-Sasquatch, spent most of his life feeling unwanted and overlooked. When these two meet, there’s no awkward power imbalance, no patronizing behavior—just two people on the same page, approaching intimacy and connection with mutual curiosity, respect, and kindness.
Despite being a short read, the emotional growth feels real and earned. Watching them tentatively explore romance together is incredibly sweet, especially because both had already given up on the idea of love before finding each other. Their investment in one another’s happiness feels sincere and deeply comforting.
As a Valentine’s Day romance, this story absolutely delivers: hopeful, tender, and affirming. The characters feel authentic and true to themselves, and that authenticity is what makes the romance shine. A lovely reminder that love doesn’t have an expiration date—and that sometimes, the most meaningful connections come when you least expect them. 💕.

This is a super quick (39 pages), cozy PNR instalove read that’s a little bit out of the ordinary.

Everly, is fifty-two, a virgin and was finally about to get married, but she catches her fiance cheating right before the wedding. Although she's more bothered about getting married than the actual fiance. She ends up driving —still in her wedding dress—and crashes her car during a mountain snowstorm. That’s how she meets Chuck, a seven-foot-tall, half-Sasquatch hermit who lives all alone on the mountain.

Even though Chuck looks imposing, he’s actually incredibly gentle and shy. He’s spent his whole life thinking nobody could ever love him because of what he is. Because they’re snowed in together, they get to talk and connect. It’s a "later-in-life" romance, with two people who thought they were past the age of finding love, discover each other.

It’s definitely a fast-paced "instalove" type of book, so everything happens very quickly. There is no world building or too much of a back story for either character.

Biggest thing that let it down for me is them both being virgins in their 40's/50's but clearly knowing exactly what to do when they finally get together, no fumbling, just knowing exactly what and how everything works.

Chuck and Everly

Tropes:
* Paranormal
* Monster (sasquatch)
* Midlife virgin(s)
* Small town
* Runaway bride
* Snowed in

<9>"Sorry, Dad. I did my best, but I'm all done basing my choices around what men want. It's time for what I want."

I was so happy when runaway bride Everly confronted her cheating ex-fiance and told him where to go!

On the road, she ends up in an accident where she’s rescued by Chuck. Apparently, he’s massive, which leads to the thought that she’s going to have a fun ol’ first time!

This was oddly sweet. A runaway bride with a preference for a furry chest, a sasquatch with a penchant for a curvy woman, and a mutual ‘deflowering’… such a cute, and mildly steamy read.

The Sasquatch is cute with his chest hair, but not cute enough to save this book. The plot was very basic. Runaway bride because fiancé cheated. She’s angry, but I really didn’t believe in it because she didn’t seem very attached to the fiancé. It was like he was just an accessory that was less important than her wedding dress or tiara. So the anger was probably wounded pride, but it seemed a little excessive and definitely artificial. The sexytime was very much IKEA sex, as in it read like furniture assembly instructions (first insert tab an into slot b…). It was definitely awkward, and not in that first time/double v card way. The most real moment of the whole story was when he was setting up Valentines breakfast. The rest of the story was insipid stuff.

Everly is an Author of Children's books.
She had been engaged for four years to a man that worked at the publishing company that published her books. That is until she caught him cheating. She's now driving along the California Coast with no destination in mind.
That's how she winds up on Ravenhart Mountain in a Snow storm.
Chuck is a Woodworker and lives on Ravenhart Mountain. He moved there when he was eighteen and out of Foster care. He's half Sasquatch, so he's a sight when he comes to town. Seven feet tall, with wild hair. He's come to town to get supplies before a storm hits. It's due to this storm that a Beautiful, Curvy woman is in his house. One that makes him feel things he's never felt before. Find out what happens next! A Short and Steamy Read! HEA!.

Not at all what I was expecting but absolutely loved it. Everly who is a 50 year old virgin never married who catches her fiancé cheating right before the wedding. She gives him a piece of her mind and takes off later crashing her car in her wedding dress. That is when she meets Chuck a 50 year old virgin half sasquatch mountain man. These two get together and learn that most meaningful connections come when you least expect it.
I absolutely loved this quick read. The chemistry is warm and amazing with just the right amount of humor. Kat provides a cozy heartfelt surprisingly tender romance that you cant help but love to read about. This was a great start to what I believe is going to be a great series.

This is Book 1 of the My Valentine is a Monster series. And a wonderful story!

'When a runaway bride crashes into a gentle half-Sasquatch mountain man, their snowy refuge becomes the perfect place to discover that true love was worth the wait.'

The characters carried the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and perfectly steamy together. Plot was well written and straightforward. World building was solidly drawn. All in all a great start to the series and I look forward to more. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

I don’t know where Kat comes up with these stories, but dang I have loved each and every one of her books so far and this one is no exception. Everly, the runaway bride who caught her fiancé cheating on her the day of their nuptials and Chuck, the half Sasquatch mountain man that saves her from a brutal snowstorm. Before her father passed away Everly made him a promise that she’d remain a virgin until marriage so eloping in Vegas sounded like a great plan until it all fell apart and she drove off leaving her cheating ex behind and not looking back.

Cute story

Short, and sweet. There is obviously more background history to this series, about Demons and witches coming into this world, but they have to be kept in isolation because they carry diseases humans can't fight. The Satchquatch was only half and part human, so he just looks like a really huge mountain man with a lot of hair. Keeping herself a Virgin till she married was a terrible vow she made to her dying father. Being over 50 and never been with a man, because the one she was supposed to marry was caught just having one last hoorah! She wasn't interested in his lame excuse. Getting lost in a snowstorm, and crashing after hitting ice turned out to be fate.

“Be My Monster Valentine” by Kat Vroman

-A runaway bride confronting her cheating fiancé makes Everly instantly lovable and it is easy to cheer for her happiness. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

Everly’s rescue by Chuck, a reclusive and gentle monster, leads to an unexpectedly sweet and steamy romance. The pairing is adorable, heartfelt, and full of mutual respect and late-in-life discovery.

A fast, cozy Ravenhart Mountain read with plenty of charm and a sentimental ending.

This is such a sweet and steamy romance. I love Chuck and Everly. They are such great characters, and they are perfect together. Everly has remained a virgin, and now, in her 50's, she is finally marrying. But finds out her fiancé has cheated on her. Running away, she wrecks in the snow in front of Chuck's house. He is half sasquatch and has been alone most of his life. Now they find each other, and a strong attraction is between them. I love this book! Fantastic short with a perfect HEA.

He offers her shelter and she accepts. During their time together they fall for each other. When the weather clears, will they feel the same? I just love these Ravenhart Mountain books. The mountain must be running out of recluse mountain men by now. Everly has left her fiance after seeing him cheat on their wedding day and ends up being rescued by Chuck. Their HEA is all you could want in a later in life romance. Not to be missed.
