When a seamstress accidentally awakens a centuries-old gargoyle with her touch, their snowy Valentine's Day together proves that some love stories are carved in stone.
Audrey Cole never expected to find a real gargoyle hidden in the walled garden of her new Cape Cod property. She definitely didn't expect her curious touch to bring the gorgeous stone creature to life. Now Stone Piedra, a 650-year-old gargoyle from York, is standing naked in her living room with his v-card intact and a charming British accent that makes her knees weak.
Trapped together by a February blizzard, the shy seamstress and the awakened gargoyle discover the pleasures of food, television, and, most importantly, each other. Stone may be new to being alive, but he's a quick study when it comes to passion. As Audrey teaches him about modern life, he shows her what it means to be truly desired.
From innocent kisses on the couch to steamy encounters by the fireplace, their connection grows stronger with each passing day. But when the snow melts and the outside world beckons, will their magical romance survive beyond the walls of her cozy cabin?
Sometimes the most magical love stories begin with a simple touch and bloom into something truly extraordinary.

Monstrous Valentine is one of those quietly charming romances that sneaks up on you and leaves you smiling long after it’s over. It’s cozy, a little magical, and surprisingly tender for a story that starts with a gargoyle coming to life in a winter garden.
Audrey is instantly relatable—kind, a bit lonely, and content to live in her own careful bubble. Her accidental awakening of Stone (Sloane) feels less like a plot device and more like fate gently nudging two souls together. And Stone? He’s an absolute sweetheart. Ancient, polite, completely bewildered by modern life, and sincere in a way that makes his innocence feel endearing rather than awkward.
The snowed-in setting does a lot of the heavy lifting here, in the best way. Shared meals, quiet conversations, and simple discoveries give their connection room to grow naturally. Watching Audrey help Stone experience the world—food, warmth, affection—while he, in turn, makes her feel seen and cherished is the real magic of this story.
Despite the paranormal premise, the emotional core feels grounded and warm. This is a soft, escapist read that leans into comfort, connection, and the idea that love can show up in the most unexpected forms. If you enjoy monster romance with heart, gentle humor, and a happily-ever-after wrapped in falling snow, this Valentine is well worth spending an hour with.

This is a very short paranormal romance that can easily be read in about half an hour, making it perfect for a commute or a lunch break. The story centers on a well-accomplished, middle-aged woman and a gargoyle she unknowingly awakens when he appears in her garden—a setup that immediately feels charming and a little different. What really stands out is the sense of discovery. The gargoyle’s journey of learning what it means to truly live—experiencing the world in all its small and big moments—is handled with warmth and curiosity. There’s a lot of showing and gentle teaching, which gives the story a surprisingly thoughtful tone for such a short read. While there are a few steamy moments, the romance isn’t particularly spicy. The intimate scenes are brief and fast-paced, keeping the focus more on connection and discovery than on heat. Overall, this is a lovely, cozy paranormal romance with a gargoyle twist—short, sweet, and enjoyable when you’re in the mood for a quick romantic escape.

Audrey just moved to Cape Cod to a little Cabin and Inn. She's restoring it with her part of the inheritance that she and her twin brother are receiving from her late Uncle. While venturing in the garden she finds a stone Gargoyle statue. It's actually very Handsome, which she thinks is strange, and when she touches it's cheek the stone is actually warm to the touch. Interesting. Stone is a Gargoyle who lived in York, England before he was brought over to America in the 1800s. He lived in the garden behind the Inn. He was brought to life by the most Beautiful, Curvy woman he's ever seen. He's not sure how, or why, but he's going to make the most of it. Find out what happens next! A Short and Steamy Read! HEA!.

This was a cute little read. I got it on special today with Amazon. I had never read anything by this author. It was listed as a series but I figure it could be read as a standalone. It was a standalone, so don't be intimidated because it says 'series'. It also said it was about an hour read and it was.
I enjoyed the short read about Audrey and Stone. Audrey leaves Boston to pursue a new quiet life in the country. She buys an Inn she plans to restore. She goes out to explore her property and finds a garden. In the garden, she finds a very unique item and uncovers it revealing a handsome gargoyle. With her touch, she warms his heart and he becomes her lover.
I would recommend this as a short escape into a book. It would also be good if you only have a few minutes to spare and want something short to occupy your time for 10-15 minutes a day.
When it comes to paranormal romance I'm more familiar with furry beasts and vampires but for a short read it delivered on the feels. Monstrous Valentine is ideal for a light hearted break time escape when you fancy a steamy, sweet yet entertaining distraction. I would recommend it as a good paranormal instalove romance with a gargoyle love interest and a billionaire seamstress heroine, all with a storyline that shows Stone and Audrey discovering the simples things in life and each other for a lasting and satisfying HEA.

'When a seamstress accidentally awakens a centuries-old gargoyle with her touch, their snowy Valentine's Day together proves that some love stories are carved in stone.'
The characters were so very appealing and likeable and perfectly steamy together. Plot was well written and straightforward. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Okay, I have read a good chunk of Kat’s paranormal romances and this one honestly threw me for a loop. Audrey, the new Inn owner in town and Stone, the sexy Gargoyle that’s been in her garden since the 1800’s. Without giving anything away I loved this book for a few reasons. The relationship between the MC’s could be considered taboo but it was honestly the best one I have read thus far, and I look forward to reading more books from this series in the next few days.

Tropes: * Paranormal monster romance * Small town * Age gap (600+!) * Midlife * Snowed in
Such an interesting premise! Kat Vroman has again delivered a sweet ‘monster’ story. This time, a gargoyle awakened by her touch.
Stone is the gooiest of cinnamon rolls, despite his exterior, and I fell a little in love. Still, some amusing moments, but mostly sweet and a bit steamy.

I love this book! It is low drama, high heat with fantastic characters. Audrey is making a major change in her life after receiving a large inheritance. She has bought an old inn and is working to reopen it. Stone is a gargoyle that was part of the original inn, and now he is awakening after Audrey's touch. This story is an easy escape read with the perfect happy ending.

A special thank you to Kat Vroman and Booksprout for providing me with an eARC book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The second book in the "My Valentine is a Monster" series. It was a fantastic, compelling story that I couldn't put down. I particularly enjoyed the plot following Audrey Cole and Stone Piedra, the 650-year-old gargoyle she awakens in the walled garden. Audrey’s reaction to Stone was excellent, and the story featured memorable characters and a very satisfying happy ending. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What would you do if a statue in your backyard came to life as a man? What if this man was gorgeous and open to learning human behaviors? This happens to Audrey. Her touch awakened Stone and their attraction to each other is instantaneous.
Kat Vroman has written a unique version of a reversal of the tale of sleeping beauty. Audrey and Stone's romance is short and steamy with the HEA. Enjoy! \.

MONSTROUS VALENTINE is a fun little story! Little because it’s short, that is. Stone absolutely makes the story. His wonder and interest in the world around him gives the story life, and is incredibly endearing. He’s a gargoyle, brought to life by the touch of Audrey, an aspiring innkeeper. Book is SAFE. Heat is EXPLICIT. NO TRIGGERS. TROPES include Midlife Love, Yes I Was Born Yesterday, Monster Romance, Time After Time, Country Inn, Accidental Billionaire (her), and Instalove.
loved it !! love this series !! talk about older male/younger female... he's 650 years old and she is not !!! love Audrey and Stone... this is their story.. a fun fast paced shorter rom/com drama... she finds a gargoyle statue in her walled garden.. she touches it.. and he comes to life... and he's naked !!! a snow storm keeps them indoors together... it's sweet !!!.

Rounding up because I wasn't annoyed overall. The gargoyle's name translated is basically "Stone Stone"...this short story was not very fulfilling. It left me with a lot of questions. The story had a cute premise and characters with potential, but it felt too simplistic in execution and language. And I don't get the midlife part...the FMC could have been any age without affecting the plot. If this was a longer book, I don't think I would have finished it.. the writing didn't draw me in.
This is a totally different variant for Valentine's Day. Audrey moves to small town Cape Cod to renovate an old Inn. Stone is a gargoyle she finds in the old walled garden. Their HEA is entertaining with a twist at the end in this page-turner.

Stone is an adorable cinnamon-roll gargoyle, and Audrey is a confident, refreshing heroine. Fast-paced, lighthearted, and perfect for a fun Valentine’s Day love story.
Omgosh, I’m having the best time reading these novellas. And Audrey and Stone are too cute! I laughed through this and enjoyed their intimacies. It was sweet and spicy. I wish I had a garden with a gargoyle in it now lol.

As she reaches him the ways of the world the two slowly fall in love. They find a happiness between them that works perfectly.

This book is so. Great but I really enjoyed it. It’s the perfect length because more might make the silliness to ridiculous. I don’t know that this is as the author intended but when an inanimate object becomes sentient it just happens as they learn humanity.
