Nikole James thought she left Zavier King—and everything he stirred in her—in the past. He’s her best friend’s brother and the man she shared one vulnerable, unforgettable night with before shutting him out completely.
Now, after a toxic relationship and years of family pressure, Nikole is busy rebuilding her life, carefully working toward a peace she’s never had. The last person she expects to see on her doorstep is Zavier—especially not right before a rare Louisiana snowstorm.
But Zavier isn’t here for small talk. He’s here for the truth—and for her.
As the temperature drops and old emotions thaw, Nikole must confront the scars she’s carried and decide if this unexpected reunion can help her finally claim the love and life she’s been fighting for.
Nikole caught hell growing up with her demanding father's thumb. She learned to survive by making herself small, as to not upset him. She never felt love or learned how to love under his roof. That trauma still lingers, so when love is presented to her, she doesn't know how to react.
Zavier is laid back but knows what he wants. He allowed Nikole to get away from him once but will not again. He knows her struggles and is patient with her as she navigates her feelings and gains the confidence to choose herself. With the help of his sister and forced proximity these two were forced to confront what they both knew already. Cute read.
This story explores healing, trust, and learning to stop running from the people who truly care. I appreciated the focus on therapy and addressing family trauma.
Zavier was the MAN. Intentional, supportive, gentle but honest, and very vocal about his love. He truly saw her and loved her through it all.
Emotional, grounded, and satisfying with great food moments too.
One thing De Andrea going to do is make me swoon. Her FMCs are always so relatable. While the MMCS are just what they need! This was a cute best friend brother & learning to accept the love you deserve novella!
22 degrees is a story of love , friendship, and healing. Nikki had enough on her shoulders having to deal with a controlling dad who spoke to her like she was nothing so when her bestie told her that she had a surprised for her was the last thing she expected. Zay and Nikki had unfinished business but Nikki didn't know that zay had a mission to complete and she was part of it.
I loved this story! It is a sweet, low angst, second chance romance. I loved how we get to see things through just Nikki’s point of view. Her growth is shown in a beautiful way. I loved the mental health representation and how it was just woven into the story, not forced. Zavier is that guy! He was patient and offered the love and support that Nikki needed. 4.5 stars!
I enjoyed it! Zay brings a strong I’m here, but not to play presence while Nikole is more passive and easygoing. Together they give us longing, want, love, and desire. I love the life lessons and nuggets dropped in this book. It reminds us we have to learn to put us first and choose our growth and happiness above others even if ties have to be severed.
I wanted more of Zavier & Nikole's story but the author left some hints for you to draw your own conclusions about their future. I loved the mental health representation. Lesson learned from this book was, you don't have to change who you are for someone to truly see you & love you with their whole heart.
Zavier MF King… that’s a man baby! This was such a wholesome story. It made for the perfect palate cleanser from the more hardcore street reads. I love how De’ Andrea’s characters are always so relatable. I really felt for Nikki, and I felt so proud when she finally chose herself and stood on business with her boundaries. Well done queen!
This book was a cute quick read that makes you believe in love all over again or that this is what we all wish for something effortless easy chosen to is is the third book I’ve read by the author and I have loved each one
This is to CHOOSING YOURSELF and choosing the love that you know you deserve! Letting go of what hurts you and moving forward. I’m so glad that love knocked on her door. Great read!
This was a short read but its a beautiful story. I love how patient and understanding Dre was. I'm glad she took her power back and opened up to accepting love. Beautiful story!
Sometimes you have to choose between peace or perfection. One person perfection may look straight out of a magazine however once the book closes the chaos is exposed.
Boundaries are a must in relationships even if they are with parents respect is earned not given.
Snowed in with her bestfriend brother, Nikole was feeling all the feels she once had for Zavier, but of course people in her life wasn't happy about her decision. Zavier should Nikole what she needed and wanted in her life with no strings attached and she finally decided to give in to what she wanted. I loved that the author showed us Nikole's struggles and how she overcame them.
