Nothing can change some destinies. Nothing can break some alliances. Some secrets demand to be uncovered - no matter the cost.

Demon hunter Sully has accepted his destiny and birthright to protect the balance between Heaven and Hell, a promise made to honor both demons and angels. However, with his alliances tested and his injuries surfacing amidst a Hellish uprising, Sully must once more face his friends and enemies, risking the balance he vowed to protect.

The demons unleashed the terrifying Hell Hounds upon Sully's childhood world, while his demonic and angelic alliances faced the test of his loss of Mick and Katarina-the two women he swore to protect. As Elias, Edward, Asmodeus and Jophiel join forces with Sully and the Soul Eater to protect the balance, he discovers that his birthright and destiny will come at a cost - revealing buried truths about the pact that he never fully realized.

Will Sully betray the pact to save those he loves, or sacrifice himself for the destiny and birthright given upon him?

Hell Hounds is the second book in the paranormal/supernatural thriller Heaven and Hell series by Barb Jones.
Demons and angels, Heaven and Hel, good and evil, these elements are right up my alley. Even though it is only 162 pages it is action-packed with Sully a demon hunter and others come together to fight and bringing his destiny to light they may cost him everything. Secrets, lies, alliances, enemies, Hell Hounds, destiny and birthrights
As with the first book it is original and unique making it that more interesting in its concept. The complex characters and this new world have been woven with many intricate threads.
This compelling read will have lovers of the supernatural clambering to delve in. I look forward to more.

Hell Hounds is a supernatural fantasy that dives deep into the clash between Heaven and Hell, following the fateful child of both realms. The story begins with Archangel Michael and the demon Asmodeus creating a fragile pact, one that binds their worlds through a child destined to protect both sides. As the centuries pass, the novel follows this lineage, hunters, demons, angels, and mortals all entangled in a fight that questions loyalty, destiny, and love. There’s blood, betrayal, and tenderness tucked into moments of brutal war. It’s a saga of balance, between faith and sin, light and dark, family and fate.

The pacing runs hot and cold, but when it hits, it really hits. The dialogue snaps with grit, and the characters, especially Sully, the tormented hunter, and Mick, the brave yet uncertain daughter of an archangel, carry the story with heart. There’s something raw about the way author Barb Jones blends divine mythology with modern grit. She makes angels and demons feel human, with jealousy, doubt, and love that burns like fire. The fight scenes pop off the page. But the quiet moments, the ones between Sully and his father Asmodeus, or Mick facing Lucifer, those are where the book truly breathes.

There are a lot of names to follow and many battles happening at once. I had to slow down to keep up with who was scheming against whom. Yet, there’s a certain charm in the chaos. It feels intentional, like the author wanted the reader to drown in the same storm her characters are fighting. There’s power in that confusion, it mirrors the war between Heaven and Hell itself. The prose isn’t polished, but it makes the mythic feel intimate, like you’re eavesdropping on gods and monsters having very human arguments.

I’d recommend Hell Hounds to anyone who loves dark fantasy with heart. To readers who crave a world where angels curse, demons cry, and love defies kingdoms. If you’re the type who likes your stories bloody and soulful, with just enough chaos to keep your pulse up, this one’s for you.

Hell Hounds is a dark supernatural fantasy that throws you straight into the war between Heaven and Hell and never really lets up. At the center of it all is Sully, a demon hunter who carries a heavy bright right: he’s bound by a pact to protect the fragile balance between the two realms, honoring both demons and angels. That alone would be enough pressure – but Barb Jones layers on grief, loyalty, and impossible choices until Sully feels like a man being crushed between destiny and his own heart.
When the demons unleash the Hell Hounds on Sully’s childhood world, everything becomes personal. Old losses haunt every decision he makes. As hellish forces rise, Sully is forced to fight alongside an uneasy alliance of demons and angels. Will Sully betray the pact to save the people he loves, or sacrifice himself to uphold the destiny forced on him? Jones leans into that moral struggle, so the book isn’t just monster-hunting action; it’s also about identity, duty, and how far someone will go to protect their chosen family. If you are looking for an intensly atmospheric read full of supernatural politics and a protagonist torn between love and destiny. Than this is the book for you.

I enjoyed reading this paranormal story. This is a shorter story where the author did a great job of packing a lot in a short amount of time. I enjoyed their creativity with the story and the characters. I also enjoyed their attention to details that made the story come to life. This is a story about how destinies and even allies can never be changed. A story where when secrets want to be revealed there is nothing that can be done to stop it. Sully has a birthright of protecting the balance between Heaven and Hell. But what he will soon learn is that it comes at a cost. Will he give up his birthright to save those he loves? The characters are connectable, engaging and I enjoyed their growth throughout. They made the story easy to read and entertaining as well. I found this story to be fast paced and one that kept me turning pages to the end. This is a great story and one you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.

Hell Hounds by Barb Jones. This is a dark supernatural Fantasy novel about Angels and Demons and how they are both trying to take over Earth. This is the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading them in order to get a better understanding of the characters and story line. Its about Sully who is a demon hunter who tries to keep the balance between the two realms. Sully is thrown into the middle of the battle between Heaven and Hell and he is trying to uphold his birthright but will this be the end of him and the world as we know it? Will Sully have to give up his birthright to save the World and can he even do that? This book is short but full of battles between numerous characters and you have to pay attention to keep everything and everyone straight but it will keep you flipping pages late in the night. This one is the epic battler of Heaven and Hell, right and wrong, good and bad!

This is book 2 in the heaven and hell series. You do need to read these books in order as this one follows straight on from the last book and if you dont read the first book it will make this book hard to understand. This is action packed from the beginning. It contains action, danger, angels, demons, heaven and hell and so much more.

We are back with demon hunter Sully as he battles with not only the knowledge and weight of his birthright but also struggles to keep the balance and the pact between heaven and hell. But things are starting to get harder as the princes of Hell want to destroy the pact that was made and take over heaven and the human world. It's up to Sully to stop them and make sure the pact remains and heaven and hell remain protected and the world safe but will he be able to overcome all the odds and challenges against him? And when he has to make a choice will he choose his destiny or the people he is loyal to?

First off, this is the second book in the series and you really need to read them in order. I may go back and read the first one and then re-read this one. I feel like im missing some important things. I did enjoy it though! Sully seems really interesting. Its a short book so a good break from reality after a stressful, mundane day at work. I always enjoy a good paranormal, angels and demons, adventure and this one hit the spot. The author did a wonderful job putting a lot into a short book while not overwhelming the reader. I definitely recommend this book, but you really need to read the first book before this if you haven't.

Hell Hounds is the second book in the Heaven and Hell series by Barb Jones. This is not a good stand-alone book, you should defiantly read the first book then this one. This is a great series with the main character having great development over the 2 books. This series is a paranormal story about angels, demons, destiny, and the challenges of those all-mixed in. The main character Sully is a demon hunter and in this book, he is having a hard time with the weight of his birthright and what his destiny is. It makes for a great read as there is plenty of tension, secrets, and trying to figure out if the alliances made are good or going to go terribly wrong.

This book is the second in the series and is just as exciting to read as the first one. It was brilliant to get back into Sully and his story. I had been drawn to him in book one and I wanted to explore more about him.
I found this story to be really creative. It pulls you into the story and keeps you interested right to the end. The authors writing style makes it so easy to imagine everything that is going on. I thought this was a brilliant continuation of an already strong series and I am looking forward to what else this series might bring.

This is an amazing book with the future of Earth hanging in the balance. Sully, the Hunter, is humanities hope to keep balance between the powers of Heaven and Hell. Demons who do not want to keep the two sides in balance have released He’ll Hounds to Earth and attacked Sully’s woman getting her to do their bidding. Plots and counter plots paired with two born of one angel and one demon parent makes for a book that I finished in a day. I look forward to the next book in the series and will go back to read the first.

This is an interesting take on the idea of angels and demons and the fight between the two. This book continues the story of a child born of both factors. Readers get to return to the world were demon hunter Sully fights and must learn to understand his destiny. There are plots and secrets that need to be discovered before it is too late. A balance must be kept but there are those that work to create an unbalance and hope to gain the power. The author has created an interesting world with strong characters that pull the reader into their story.

This is the second book in the Heaven and Hell series. I feel like you have to read the first in order to fully appreciate this book. Unfortunately, this was the first book I read. There were some big things I really felt like I was missing. That's on me. Having said that, I enjoyed this book otherwise. I like the characters and the details of the story. There was a lot put into a shorter book of under 200 pages. The writing is well done. I definitely enjoyed it enough to check out the first and come back to the second. Zero complaints.

This is a book I need more than five stars for, and I don’t normally say that about books less than 200 pages honestly. I love books based off heaven and hell, or angels vs demons. This was a quick read that scratched a good itch after a rough work day. I would absolutely recommend this for someone needing a quick fix.

Hell Hounds by Barb Jones is a really cool twist/look on Demon hunting and both heaven and hell. I really enjoyed Sully’s character, he was very well written. I wish I started this series from the beginning because I know there are things I’m missing even though I caught up. I’m looking forward to reading book one and experiencing the full journey these characters went through!

This book has a good concept! The story feels rushed though and the characters lack depth. With a little work this could be a knock-out! I always love a good Heaven & Hell tale!

This book blew me away! I just finished this and honestly, it felt like being dropped into a supernatural tug-of-war in the best way. I will HIGHLY recommend picking up the first book before diving into this one as you will be a bit lost without it. I didn’t realize it was part of a series so there were some bits and pieces that were challenging for me to grasp. Sully is one of those reluctant-hero types you can’t help rooting for, especially as he tries to juggle alliances with both demons and angels. The stakes skyrocket fast, especially once the Hell Hounds show up and tear into the world he once called home. What hit hardest, though, was how much he’s still grieving Mick and Katarina, and how that loss shapes every choice he makes. The crew that rallies around him makes the whole story feel like this intense, chaotic found-family adventure. I loved that the book digs into the hidden truths behind Sully’s birthright because the twists genuinely caught me off guard. By the end, I was basically yelling at him to either break the pact or save himself because the tension is that good. If you like dark fantasy with big emotions and messy loyalties, I really think you’ll get hooked on this one.

Hell Hounds is the second book in Barb Jones’ Heaven and Hell series, and it dives even deeper into a world full of angels, demons, secrets, and dangerous destinies. We’re back with Sully, a demon hunter who’s trying to figure out his place in the fight between Heaven and Hell while dealing with the weight of his birthright.

Even though it’s a shorter read, it’s packed with action, tense moments, shifting alliances, and plenty of supernatural chaos. The world building is vivid, and the mix of angels, demons, hunters, and hell hounds keeps things exciting. Sully’s personal struggles make him easy to root for, and the supporting characters add a lot of depth to the story.

I do think reading book one first would help fill in a few gaps, but the author explains enough that you can still follow along. It’s an interesting, fast-moving paranormal adventure with plenty of emotion and danger. I was a fan of the first book in the series and would recommend reading it as well! Fans of supernatural battles, dark fantasy, and destiny-driven stories will find a lot to enjoy here.

OhMyGosh. I can’t believe it has been nearly three years since book one came out in this stunning series. Please stop if you have not read book one yet, please go read it first, Son of Asmodeus, and then come back. Barb Jones you talented soul, I thoroughly enjoyed the reread of book one to refresh my mind on this world before I dived in and it gets so much better the second time and then this one one…. Chef’s kiss.
The characters continual growth in this story and the tension, mystery, and intrigue as the story develops keeps you hungry for me and left wanting when you reach the end so much sooner than you hope. To carry the weight of a “birthright” and more so that of a destiny is an immense pressure and Sully I feel is very relatable in some respects as he battles the weight of it all. I cannot wait to see what will happen next in this series and how the characters will handle everything while trying to protect the world in the oldest war of Heaven and Hell.

This is a fast-paced supernatural suspense novel that immerses the reader in a high-stakes conflict between Heaven and Hell. The story centers on Sully, a tormented demon hunter who is the destined child of a demon and an archangel, tasked with maintaining a fragile pact and protecting the balance between the realms.
When terrifying Hell Hounds are unleashed, Sully is forced to confront enemies and old allies alike, putting his commitment to the pact against the survival of those he loves. What truly carries the story is the author's ability to blend divine mythology with modern grit. The characters, especially Sully and his demon father Asmodeus, are complex making the epic, mythic war feel intensely personal and human. Thanks to its constant tension, vivid action sequences, and the central plot where loyalty and love are tested in the chaos of celestial war, this quick read comes highly recommended as a real page-turner.

This is the second book in the Heaven and Hell series and you definitely need to read book one before diving into this one. Having NOT done that, I felt like there were a lot of plot holes that I just couldn't fill in. I enjoyed the premise of the book and plan on going back to read the first installment. I enjoyed the characters and was pleased with the way Jones developed them. I felt the plot was a little slow but I don't know if that's because I hadn't read the first book and a lot of the time didn't know what was going on. Like I said, I think there is potential here and I'm going to read the first book to see if that helps. If you've read the first book, then I would recommend continuing the series. If you haven't read the first book yet, start there because I think this has potential to be interesting.

Hell Hounds is the second book in the Heaven and Hell Series, which is definitely worth reading in order for the story to fully make sense! It is a paranormal fantasy series which centres around angels and demons. I think it would appeal to fans of Supernatural, Buffy and Good Omens!

Hell Hounds is a fast-paced, action-packed story. There isn’t a whole lot of exposition (hence needing to read Son of Asmodeus first) but there are bits of worldbuilding scattered throughout to add depth.

There’s a great cast of characters to enjoy! I particularly like how Edward develops following his transformation.

Hell Hounds gets four stars from me! If you like paranormal stories with demons, you’ll love this book!

Sully is a demon hunter, however, he is sworn to protect the fragile balance between heaven and hell. He is constantly toeing the thin line and is to serve demons and angels equally. When Hell Hounds are released upon his childhood world he ended up losing two women that he swore to protect. Although it is devastating he must choose which side to be on. Does be embrace his birthright or betray the pact he made to save those he loves? I did not realize that this was book two in a series when I picked it up. It has great potential but definitely read the first book before diving into this one. With that being said I overall enjoyed this story.

Hell Hounds is a thrilling, supernatural adventure that keeps you turning the pages late into the night. The story dives into a dark, fast-paced world of demons, angels, and powerful hunters caught in an epic struggle between good and evil. Jones does an awesome job mixing action, mystery, and just the right touch of emotion — the characters feel real, and the stakes are sky-high. The world building is rich and immersive, and every twist hits perfectly. It’s a wild, exciting ride for anyone who loves a good blend of fantasy, danger, and heart.

Okay lesson learned. Definitely going back and reading book 1, if you haven't yet, stop right now and go back to read book 1. Overall the story was really good. I made the mistake of not double checking myself, and got this book anyway. This really was a good book and I am for sure going to go back and read book 1. Sully and his story moved me, having to keep the balance between heaven and hell is a heavy burden to bear. Sully does it well with his allies and family and friends, all while dealing with grief of loving his two loved ones. I can't wait to see where his story goes!

Hell Hounds is the 2nd book in the Heaven and Hell series.
This book is a supernatural, paranormal, dark fantasy read that has demons, angels, danger, secrets, mystery, action, challenges, and so much more. The characters are very complex especially Sully. The world building has angels, demons, hell hounds which make the story.
Read the 1st book in the series before you read this book so you will have a better understanding of this world, and characters and it will be so much easier to understand what is happening.
