Love on Repeat hums with old-school soul...timeless, textured, and emotionally messy in a way that feels true to life.
At the center is Neko Marie Love: educator by day, creative spirit by nature, single mom by reality, and woman carrying more weight than anyone realizes. From the outside, her world looks polished: ring, routine, reputation...but underneath, she’s suffocating. Comfort doesn’t always equal safety, and security doesn’t guarantee joy. Watching her navigate motherhood, ambition, and unspoken truths felt painfully familiar.
Enter Legend “Black” DePriest, history wrapped in muscle memory and unresolved emotion. His reappearance cracks open everything Neko’s been trying to keep neatly contained. Their connection is undeniable, heavy with glances, pauses, and the kind of tension that doesn’t need touching to feel intimate. When they share space, the air changes. Period. 🖤
The supporting cast added real flavor. Mecca and Chaki brought depth and heart, while a few side personalities stirred the pot just enough to keep things spicy ☕. The sports angle...gritty gyms, discipline, hunger- gave the narrative a grounded edge that worked well with the era. And that 90s setting? Chef’s kiss. It carried rhythm, nostalgia, and emotional weight without trying too hard.
Where the story slightly lost me was in the emotional pacing. Some moments that should’ve landed harder felt muted, and the constant push-pull...especially from Neko, started to drag. Growth was happening, but slower than necessary. By the final chapter, I was craving closure. A glimpse forward. A “where are they now?” moment to fully seal the journey. Without it, the ending felt more paused than finished.
Still, this was a solid, heartfelt read...layered, dramatic, and rooted in real choices real women face. Love on Repeat reminds us that having it all doesn’t mean having what you need, and sometimes the hardest relationship to navigate is the one with yourself.
Not flawless, but meaningful. And definitely worth the ride. 🎶📖
