The Scene Trope Solution: For Romance Authors by Michelle Pennington is a FABULOUS new resource for Romance Writers!

Michelle breaks tropes down into three categories—scene tropes being one of them—and helpfully defines each. Before this book, I never really thought how “The tropes you use all connect and work together to build your story.” I merely picked out the ones I liked and used them. However, in this book, Michelle teaches how tropes can be used to increase intimacy and build both character growth and the romantic relationship. She not only teaches such, but she also includes an extensive list of scene tropes, and each trope is well explained with examples to help writers maximize the usage of the trope.

Though this book is aimed at romance writers, if you write romance in your book like I do (I write romantic fantasy stories), this is a solid resource in how to use scene tropes intentionally, which will help in the “four tasks in a romance” (which she outlines), thus helping writers create stronger romance, character growth, and ways we can use the tropes in different ways, thus creating a more tailored experience for the reader. This is definitely a resource for anyone who writes romance on any level.
