Solomon Tate lives by one rule, loyalty over everything and leads by example. Solomon takes care of his people and all he expects in return is for everyone on his team to remain solid. Anyone who refuses to show loyalty no longer earns his favor, family is not exempt.
Kaori Randall embraces one concept. Love and be loved. She is raised by parents and grandparents who are the example of happy healthy relationships. Kaori has high expectations when it came to her own personal happiness which makes the fail of her own love life a huge disappointment.
Instead of allowing herself to wallow in disappointment, Kaori refocuses her efforts into school and work. She hasn’t given up on love but refuses to set herself up for to fail, however, an encounter with a man who defies the exception of everything she believes she wants and deserves once again has Kaori hopeful.
Her heart begins to explore the idea that she just might find her one. Unfortunately the risk feels greater than the reward because she’s not positive she’ll remain standing through all the chaos and destruction once the Smoke clears.

This was my third listen to this book and I still love it. I absolutely ADORE the way Smoke stood on business with his donors about his brother. He WAS NOT playing with them. Put his foot on their neck and didn’t let up. Like he said, they made a choice and he’s gone make them stand on it…period.
I’ve had this book in my catalog for soooo long and decided to just get it over with so I can start getting through the books!!!… Babyyyy, I’m soooo disappointed that I waited so long to read this book!!!…It was soooo good and I love me some Smoke(Solomon)!!!…He was a man on a mission and all about the family he chose, not the one he was born into!!!… The care he took when it came to taking care of Solo had me smiling with each of their interactions!!!…Bree rotten ash irked my nerves and I wanted someone to lay hands on her for real!!!… The trust Smoke had in his brother’s innocence and the journey to fight for his freedom!!!…His desire to step away from his parents because of the way they treated Noah was all love and loyalty!!!… Noah spk love and life into Solomon, despite his frustration!!!… Kaori was such a wildcard & just needed to refocus and get herself together and in walks Smoke!!!…He settled her and she calmed him!!!…Her parents or friends did not let up on her and she grew to achieve her goals and added motherhood to her life!!!… I truly hope there is more to come these 2!!!… I’m read for Noah’s story though!!!…
I don’t even know where to begin with this book (in a great way). Here we go… Kaori proved what the definition of move on and boss up truly is! It sucked that my girl needed a hard reality check before she got it but once she did it was over. Seeing her achieve her goals was amazing. Finally throwing out the trash was her best move and Jamal definitely felt that wrath! Now… Smoke baby Smoke! This man put that pressure on from the beginning. He told her she was going to be his and he meant every word! However, that trifling bm of his irked my soul, right along with his no good parents! He stands by “say what you mean and mean what you say.” I too fell in love with SJ, he was instantly drawn to KK which was so beautiful. This story was so good and I can’t wait to read the next one.
I’m only 33 pages into this book and I can’t finish it. For some reason, Smoke says “and shit” every couple of sentences, and it’s too OD for me to ignore. I searched the book to see how often it appears, and it showed up 124 times??????
• “I was clean, had lotion on and shit.” • “Start a troubled youth program and shit.” • “So caught up in image and shit ever since..” • “Wasn’t trying to intimidate mothafuckas and shit.” • “The spot smelling like weed and shit..”
At that point, it completely disrupted the reading experience for me. It was inserted in places that didn’t even need it!😩😩😩
Smoke was everything. He stood on business, was solid, handled his business when it came to his lady & kids, and was loyal to a fault to ppl he called his brothers. I knew it would be Scoot to try him. Smh. It's crazy how he lied to his face when he asked him. Then his parents were flawed as ever they way they treated their sons. I'm glad he ran into KK. Now, he is able to feel what a real family unconditional love should be. I need a book about the wedding and all things leading up to it. 4.5 🌟
Smoke and KK love them.. I love mo true best friend and B and love me some Noah. Something is up with smoke parents can’t wait to find out what it is. I love ice and kdot and I love how the took in smoke and solo as their family😍.smoke played no games and stood on ten toes when it came down to his love.
This was truly a nice story. It’s the perfect amount of drama. KK had the ability to soften Smoke because that mf was mean. His parents and BM were a piece of work. I’m really looking forward to Noah’s story, he seems so sweet.
The fact that the brother and the dad came home, it was the best part of the book them falling in love with each other yeah, but those was the main two things and his shitty ass mom and dad
Solomon!!!! Oh he can get whatever he wants 😫 Now Kaori was pissing me off because why is she so stupid! For 6 years she was stupid and for the life of me I can’t understand why! Even after Solomon she was still being stupid because why the hell you get in that car??
kaori deserved better than her cheating ass ex, i don’t support domestic violence but it was nice to see she was whooping his ass and the girl he was cheating with. solomon was crazy and i loved every second of it
My new bestie…I loved the story…I really wanted to see what KK’s hands do with Bri bish azz! Beginning to end…story flowed so good! Can not wait to see/read your whole catalog!
4/5 - I had a time with Soloman “Smoke” and Kaori “KK”. This story had the right amount of drama that didn’t tear away from the couple. Smoke played no games when it came to his son and KK — his parents were trash individuals. - I can’t wait to get into Noah’s story.
