All the Smoke

Rate this book
Solomon Tate lives by one rule, loyalty over everything and leads by example. Solomon takes care of his people and all he expects in return is for everyone on his team to remain solid. Anyone who refuses to show loyalty no longer earns his favor, family is not exempt.

Kaori Randall embraces one concept. Love and be loved. She is raised by parents and grandparents who are the example of happy healthy relationships. Kaori has high expectations when it came to her own personal happiness which makes the fail of her own love life a huge disappointment.

Instead of allowing herself to wallow in disappointment, Kaori refocuses her efforts into school and work. She hasn’t given up on love but refuses to set herself up for to fail, however, an encounter with a man who defies the exception of everything she believes she wants and deserves once again has Kaori hopeful.

Her heart begins to explore the idea that she just might find her one. Unfortunately the risk feels greater than the reward because she’s not positive she’ll remain standing through all the chaos and destruction once the Smoke clears.

This was my third listen to this book and I still love it. I absolutely ADORE the way Smoke stood on business with his donors about his brother. He WAS NOT playing with them. Put his foot on their neck and didn’t let up. Like he said, they made a choice and he’s gone make them stand on it…period.

Solid Beginning to the series!!

This book was GOODT. My only gripe? KK was way too careless with a whole stranger. I’m glad it worked out for her and Solo, but let me be VERY clear—you are not KK and that man you met yesterday is NOT Smoke. Wrap. It. Up. There are things out here way worse than a pregnancy.

Whew… stepping off my soapbox.

Now—other than THAT? I ate this book UP. I love me some real thug love. And the way he wasn’t Smoke with her, he was Solomon? Yeah… that did something to me. Running not walking to Book 2 ❤️🔥

Smoke & KK

Smoke was everything. He stood on business, was solid, handled his business when it came to his lady & kids, and was loyal to a fault to ppl he called his brothers. I knew it would be Scoot to try him. Smh. It's crazy how he lied to his face when he asked him. Then his parents were flawed as ever they way they treated their sons. I'm glad he ran into KK. Now, he is able to feel what a real family unconditional love should be. I need a book about the wedding and all things leading up to it.

I don’t even know where to begin with this book (in a great way). Here we go… Kaori proved what the definition of move on and boss up truly is! It sucked that my girl needed a hard reality check before she got it but once she did it was over. Seeing her achieve her goals was amazing. Finally throwing out the trash was her best move and Jamal definitely felt that wrath! Now… Smoke baby Smoke! This man put that pressure on from the beginning. He told her she was going to be his and he meant every word! However, that trifling bm of his irked my soul, right along with his no good parents! He stands by “say what you mean and mean what you say.” I too fell in love with SJ, he was instantly drawn to KK which was so beautiful. This story was so good and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I’m only 33 pages into this book and I can’t finish it. For some reason, Smoke says “and shit” every couple of sentences, and it’s too OD for me to ignore. I searched the book to see how often it appears, and it showed up 124 times??????

• “I was clean, had lotion on and shit.”
• “Start a troubled youth program and shit.”
• “So caught up in image and shit ever since..”
• “Wasn’t trying to intimidate mothafuckas and shit.”
• “The spot smelling like weed and shit..”

At that point, it completely disrupted the reading experience for me. It was inserted in places that didn’t even need it!😩😩😩

All the smoke!

This was truly a nice story. It’s the perfect amount of drama. KK had the ability to soften Smoke because that mf was mean. His parents and BM were a piece of work. I’m really looking forward to Noah’s story, he seems so sweet.

Smoke & KK

Solomon Sr aka Smoke had son, Solomon Jr aka SJ or Solo, with trifling Bri who was much older than he was, but was a conniving whore.

Kaori aka KK was daughter of kingpin hood legends, Ice & KDot.. she had been with trifling Jamal, who cheated on her half the relationship and had her spazzing out and getting arrested behind foolishness. Parents tired of her taking care of Jamal, set boundaries for daughter and she went back to dental school and got job working part time with her aunt Treva, Morgan’s mom, dental practice. She 1st met Smoke and his son Solo, when he came in and she helped cleaned his teeth. They had attraction however she was still stuck on Jamal.

Kaori and best friend Morgan linked back up with old high school friends, Elijah & Bernard aka Scoot & Bino.. who happened to now be good friends with Smoke.. at a kickback pool party.. she ended up linking with Smoke and it was on and popping from that day forth.

They played a few unnecessary games with each other before getting serious and the carelessness of their escapades led to an unplanned pregnancy.

Bri was the baby mama from hell and caused confusion and tension after she exposed she slept with Scoot and friction between friends causing trust issues.

Noah, was Smoke older brother who had been locked up for years on charges that he didn’t commit. Smoke had been trying to get his brother good lawyers to get him out. However his parents Bishop Tate and Jewel were crooked and sabotaged a lot of him getting released. Until Kaori’s parents helped get in contact with their lawyer. He was finally released 6months after birth of son Silas.

Solomon(Smoke) & Kaori, When Smoke Meets Fire

I’ve had this book in my catalog for soooo long and decided to just get it over with so I can start getting through the books!!!…
Babyyyy, I’m soooo disappointed that I waited so long to read this book!!!…It was soooo good and I love me some Smoke(Solomon)!!!…He was a man on a mission and all about the family he chose, not the one he was born into!!!…
The care he took when it came to taking care of Solo had me smiling with each of their interactions!!!…Bree rotten ash irked my nerves and I wanted someone to lay hands on her for real!!!…
The trust Smoke had in his brother’s innocence and the journey to fight for his freedom!!!…His desire to step away from his parents because of the way they treated Noah was all love and loyalty!!!…
Noah spk love and life into Solomon, despite his frustration!!!…
Kaori was such a wildcard & just needed to refocus and get herself together and in walks Smoke!!!…He settled her and she calmed him!!!…Her parents or friends did not let up on her and she grew to achieve her goals and added motherhood to her life!!!…
I truly hope there is more to come these 2!!!…
I’m read for Noah’s story though!!!…

Smoke is all about his business and the people he loves, and that never wavers…even when he’s put in a situation that would push most people over the edge. And I’m just gonna be honest…Smoke is a better person than me because I don’t know if I could’ve handled that with the level of grace he did 😭

I’ve realized there’s just something about reading about a man be intentional about his child that really gets to me. Like…a father choosing to show up, stand firm, and loving his kid out loud every single time? Yeah, that’ll always do something for me.

His relationship with his son was one of my favorite parts of the book because it felt real, consistent, and rooted in love. You can see that his child comes first, even when his personal feelings could’ve easily gotten in the way, and that just added another layer to his character.

I also really respected how he showed up for his brother. No matter what anyone else thought, he stood beside him and held him down, and that kind of loyalty says a lot about his character.

Now…with that being said, certain lines? Yeah…they’re just not forgivable to me 🙃 but that’s what makes this story hit. It really has you thinking about loyalty, forgiveness, and where you personally draw the line.

His to protect and support

People truly hate to see you glow-up. Bri thought she groomed a man but he stood on every "no" he told her. Using Solo backfired because she wanted to hurt Smoke for moving on. His chess move was still being focused on the task at hand... his sons, his girl, his brother's release, and elevating his business. I love a man with a plan and some excellent payback moments.

Kaori, seemed to be naive but she just settled until she got tired. Once she had to grow up she learned. Being coddled have you in blinders for a hot minute. I enjoyed her crashouts and comebacks as well. My girl had an ace of spade in her pocket for all those who tried it. Her parents didn't play about her.

Together, they built each other up. Smoke loved on KK hard. Made sure she was straight even when he was mad at her. I loved it. Good read.

5 star audiobook for sure cause I hated when I had to pause it! I was all in with this one. Smoke pulls you in and don't let you go. I'm having another good month with the audiobooks. Will these two allow people from their past to continue to control and hold them back from finding a real true love? The story of Smoke and Kaori a little different but I love it and them. Will everything they going through and dealing with bring them right where they need to be or keep them apart? I definitely want "All The Smoke" you better come get you some too! Jumping into the next book in the series as my next audiobook!

Bishop

Bishop & his wife are a mess. They treat Noah like a red head step child. I'm so glad smoke wasn't going for that mess. Very good book.

3✨ This was a cute story, but I felt like Smoke had a chip on his shoulder the entire time, which he was entitled to, especially when it came to his brother’s situation and how his parents were handling it. I am not sure how Kaori was able to see beyond that, but she did. The story came off as insta love, which I am not a fan of but still enjoyed.

Also, was it me or did Smoke not have Solo majority of the time but was always complaining about how everyone else was handling him? If you don’t like how he is being raised, TAKE HIM! LOL
