Billionaire Bratz #2

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire: A Sweet Billionaire RomCom

Rate this book
An icy accident throws a grumpy billionaire into the coziest romance of his life.Billionaire race car pro Ashton Carrington knows two speed and control.
Icy roads? Not so much.

When a winter skid leaves him accidentally hitting Sophie Laz (he insists he wasn’t going that fast), Ashton’s carefully managed life crashes hard. The royal family is furious, the tabloids are thrilled, and he’s stuck in Laandia until his court date.

His father’s advice is… unhelpful.
Make her fall for you so she’ll forget the lawsuit.

Sophie, however, is unimpressed. She’s funny, practical, and very much not interested in the grumpy billionaire who ran into her. But as snow falls and Ashton finds himself out of his element—and unexpectedly cared for—irritation gives way to something warmer.

Between coffee time, exploring a castle, and cozy chats by the fire, winter in Laandia starts to feel less like a sentence and more like home.

Can Ashton charm Sophie into forgiveness—and maybe love—before the ice between them freezes for good?

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire is a sweet, closed-door romcom filled with frosty beginnings, winter charm, and one very unlucky meet-cute.

Set in the fictional kingdom of Laandia, this is a standalone story but would be best enjoyed as a sequel to Coffee Break with the Billionaire.

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire is a fun, opposites attract, romantic comedy. I am always happy to return to Laandia and catch up with the characters I have met. Sophie is nearly run down by Ashton who hits a patch of ice as she pops up in the middle of the street. The reader gets to see more of Sophie and learns a lot more about Ashton as Sophie recovers from broken toes. Who realized you could be so inconvenienced by two broken toes? I loved watching these two spend time together falling in love in Sophie's rooms at the castle. Sophie is not impressed by Aston's money and he makes her feel really seen. Aston is impressed by someone who does not want anything from him other than his company. This is a mostly quiet, feel good book that I read all at once. I highly recommend this well written romance.

I love this series and learning more about Sophie and Ashton was fun. When Ashton hits Sophie with Fenella's car his father tells him to woo her so she doesn't sue him. Little did he know how much he would enjoy Sophie's company.

They spend a lot of time together, getting to know each other while Sophie stays at the castle and she might be falling for him despite all the differences. But love stories aren't straight forward so be prepared for a twist.

Oh and I love that Sophie's dad finds his happy end 😉

After reading Coffee Break with the Billionaire I was really excited to discover more of the books from Holly Kerr that take place in Laandia. Today the sequel in the Billionaire Brats series is released. This book is called Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire and will follow the love story of Sophia and Ashton. The storyline combines a grumpy sunshine trope with an he falls first trope. But what will Holly Kerr have in store for her readers?

I loved that Ashton and Sophie got their story! Both are characters I've loved from the Royal series, and watching them find their HEA was so fun. Technically I think this book probably could be read as a standalone, but there are some family dynamics that are better understood with a little of the back story for both main characters (Sophie more than Ashton). I read an early version, you should check out the whole series if you haven't already!

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire is a sweet, opposites attract, billionaire romance featuring Sophie Laz and Ashton Carrington.

Sophie Laz is known for being nice. She works at a fish and chips restaurant. She loves reading and is part of a book club. She helps out at the animal shelter. Her life is fairly uneventful, but she enjoys it. She would just like someone with whom to share it.

Ashton Carrington is a grumpy billionaire. He races cars, bounces around the globe, loves to shop and generally lives large. He finds himself in Battle Harbour, Laandia mainly because that's where his twin Fenella is, but otherwise he isn't really sure what's keeping him in this small town.

The night he borrows his sister's car is the night that everything changes. He turns a corner and suddenly spots Sophie. He hits the breaks, but it is the middle of winter and the roads are icy and Sophie goes down. He quickly gets her to hospital and while she will be okay, it looks like she broke a couple of toes and will be off her feet for awhile. This is the worst thing that could have possibly happened as Ashton is awaiting word on whether he will be allowed to compete in an upcoming race. The Sponsor of said race needs someone with a squeaky clean image and if word got out of him seemingly losing control of his vehicle and injuring someone - not just any someone but the King's best friend's daughter - then surely all his hopes are gone.

Racked with guilt and unsure what to do, Ashton reaches out to his father who is somewhat livid. Eton Carrington advises him to woo Sophie so she won't charge him with reckless driving. It doesn't feel right but when he apologizes to her, she tells him it was an accident and she doesn't hold him responsible. Is that it? It might be for the best as the usually charming Ashton seems to have lost his charm when it comes to Sophie.

Ashton ends up lurking about, and slowly spending more time with Sophie keeping her company. When her father, Duncan Laz, moves her into the castle where she can have help, and where there are far fewer stairs than at home, Sophie starts seeing a lot more of Ashton. He comes to her room and they hang out. They talk about anything and everything. He encourages her to move around and together they explore the castle. Over time it looks like someone might be falling, but is it Sophie or is it Ashton?

This was an adorably sweet story. I loved getting to know Sophie. She's a wonderful character. Sophie is thoughtful and caring, kind and considerate. She is a simple girl who enjoys the simple pleasures, and that makes her incredibly relatable... unlike the billionaire brat, Ashton. I enjoyed getting to know another side to him. I was familiar with his character having read most, if not all, of the books set in Laandia. I felt I got to understand him a little more, especially with the author's prologue. While at a glance these two were not suited to one another, together they just make sense. I think Sophie is really good for Ashton and I loved seeing both of them happy.

I'm not sure if Kerr has more books planned in this world, but I love the characters and I wish Laandia were a real place I could go visit. It sounds like a wonderful country where love is in the air.

I am so excited to be back in Laandia, I love that place. I wish it were real so I could go visit the town of Battle Harbour. I feel like I know everyone like a best friend, the royals, the billionaires and the normal folk like me.

This book is not officially a Royal book, instead it features the daughter of the Royal Advisor Sophie Laz, and the billionaire brat Ashton Carrington. Ashton has had previous cameos/appearances in Coffee Break with the Billionaire (his sister was the FMC) and Royal Rebel and Royal Replacement (he was one of the rejected suitors for both FMCs).

So this story focuses around Ashton accidentally hitting Sophie with his car and his father suggests he make Sophie fall for him so she won’t press charges. As they spend more time together, they become friends first and then slowly start developing other feelings for each other.

Sophie was adorable, she’s such a sweetheart and definitely a people pleaser. She doesn’t hold Ashton responsible for the accident, even from the start before she gets to know him. Ashton is such a delightful grump. He’s not exactly endearing to most of the people in Battle Harbour but Sophie sees the side of him most people don’t. Despite starting off with dubious intentions, he stays and starts to genuinely care for Sophie and slowly lose his heart to her.

It’s always fun to see the other residents of Battle Harbour. I am really looking forward to seeing Basher and Mabel continue their relationship, that one would be a riot.

While this story could be a standalone, Ashton's character has really been building from the Love in Laandia series, and his twin's story (Coffee Break with the Billionaire). I have really enjoyed the continuity of world building between series and after Ashton's two attempts at love (or something...) on The Suitorette. He is layered like an onion, and I enjoyed seeing all the layers pulled back a little at a time. How fitting that a billionaire who lives a fast life should be humbled by an unassuming girl.

Ashton and Sophie’s relationship is interesting. I believe most would call it a slow burn, but it is relatively conflicted because Ashton has ulterior motives and a secret crush. He doesn't know himself or Sophie well enough for a good while to always make wise decisions. The slower pace of Laandia and the threat of life as he knows it crumbling around him forces a change, and a welcome one at that. Ashton has a unique voice as a character, likely because he is so out of touch with reality, and as it comes into sharper focus, his character becomes more likeable and refined. His version of grand gestures were super sweet, especially if you read Royal Replacement.

I really love that Ashton got his own story and that it did him so much justice!

I received a copy for consideration. All thoughts contained here are my own.

The story is kind of a spinoff from the love in Laandia series. If you have not read that series, it may be a little confusing with all of the familiar characters. The author does a good job of explaining everybody, but to simplify, I would suggest reading the other books. Ashton the son of a billionaire, race car driver, fashion model, and a grump. Is doing what he does best, driving his sisters Dodge charger through the town of Laandia, but doesn’t anticipate someone standing in the middle of the road or the patch of ice he hits. Sophia has many ties to the royal family of Laandia, and although growing up in a divorced/split family, she had a pretty good childhood. Now she works a few odd jobs and loves to paint. She is very stable, independent and of course dreams of finding the right guy.
I really enjoyed this story. It was fun to watch Alex transformation from billionaire Playboy, to humble (hot) average guy. The characters we’re able to grow a lot through this opposites attract storyline. The romance is a sweet, closed door, feel good story (a few parts were a tad bit spicy for me).
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I adore this book! I love catching up on what is going on in Laandia and I found myself quickly immersed in Laandia and the story of Ashton and Sophie. Ashton is one of the Millionaire Bratz and we got to know him a little when he was one of the Suitorette bachelors in Royal Rebel and Royal Replacement and I am excited for him to have his own story. As a billionaire and race car driver he is viewed as charming and frivolous but is that truly him? I like that he reveals a side of himself that he has never been comfortable with and that he is kind and has a gooey center behind his billionaire exterior. Sophie is not who anyone expected Ashton to be with but she is perfect for him. When a collision forces both of them to slow down and reevaluate their relationships and life, what they discover surprises them and I was there for it. Holly’s writing draws me in, keeps me turning the pages, makes me smile, and leaves my heart happy. The characters and Laandia are interesting and I want to visit and hang out with them.I can’t get enough of Laandia and I can’t wait for another book and another visit to my favorite Kingdom!

I highly recommend this book to readers that enjoy sweet romances.

I loved returning to the small coastal Kingdom of Laandia, where interesting and romantic things happen! Sophie is a supportive friend who quietly helps everyone else. Her divorced Dad is the King’s closest friend and advisor, but Sophie just works in a Fish & Chips shop. Ashton is a billionaire’s son, whose racing career may be coming to an end. He’s at loose ends and visiting his glamorous sister, who found her own love in Laandia (“Coffee Break with the Billionaire”). After Sophie’s foot is injured in an apparent car accident when Ashton is driving through Laandia's icy streets, her father moves her into the castle. Ashton begins to visit her as she slowly recovers, for reasons that become increasingly complicated as they spend time together. Their story has terrific dual points of view, as these characters slowly fall in love. The book can be read as a stand-alone, but it helps to have read “Coffee Break with the Billionaire” and the Love in Laandia series for recurring characters’ backgrounds. This is a clean romance, with an engaging plot and good supporting characters. I received an advance copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was so glad that Ashton finally got his happily ever after! If you read the Love in Laandia books, you will recognize Ashton Carrington as one of the men of the Suitorette show that attempt to claim Abigail's heart. He is also Fenella's brother, who finds her own HEA in Coffee Break with the Billionaire. Not to worry, even though this is book one in the Billionaire Bratz series, the book flows beautifully even if you have not read any of the other books before. When I first started reading this book, I wasn't sure if Ashton could find the way to change enough to find love, but by the end, I was full on cheering for him to do everything possible to show Sophie his true feelings. Ashton is portrayed as grumpy but in reality he has had some really terrible experiences in not only his dating life but also with his immediate family. Sophie, as well, carries some emotional trauma from her parents' divorce as well as experiencing distance from her father. In the end, they both prove that they can overcome their individual difficulties and be the vulnerable individuals that the other needs. Looking forward to the next book...

It’s so fun to be back in Laandia amongst the royals and their friends.

I loved getting Ashton and Sophie’s story after seeing them sprinkled throughout the Love in Laandia series. There’s so much more to Ashton than meets the eye in those stories and it was nice to get his point of view, see him buck those labels, and be a better person than he started. Sophie has not had an easy life, being torn between her divorced parents, so it was nice to see her being cared for by family and friends. I enjoyed seeing how they each came into their own with the help of each other. Watching them fall for each other, despite their best efforts, was fantastic! I love real character growth alongside my happily ever afters, and this one did not disappoint!

This grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, billionaire romance is full of laughter, love, swoony kisses, and the most adorable cats with rockstar names. This is a standalone book with ties to the Love in Laandia series and Coffee Break with a Billionaire. I would recommend reading those to fully understand all of the side characters.

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire is a frosty-sweet romcom that turns an unfortunate icy accident into the coziest slow-burn romance, pairing a control-obsessed billionaire race car driver with a no-nonsense woman who is absolutely not impressed with the status money buys. Ashton is forced stay in snowy Laandia - complete with tabloid chaos, a wildly misguided matchmaking plan from his father, and a looming court date. Sophie shines as practical, witty, and refreshingly unimpressed. As winter days unfold through coffee breaks, castle wanderings, and fireside conversations, the story trades speed for slowing down and opening up. With its charming fictional setting, closed-door sweetness, and a meet-cute that’s equal parts unlucky and endearing, this book definitely was a fun and enjoyable read!.

I really liked the premise of this story, even if they were actually babysitting each other. Ashton needed a person who grounds him to reality and Sophie needed someone who actually cared for her.

I feel like Ashton could have come clean about what his father wanted him to do so much faster. I wouldn't have been a problem if he had just said that those weren't his plans and he just wanted to spend time with her.

Sophie needs to have more self confidence and see her worth. Just because people in your small town don't want to date you doesn't mean no one wants to date you. Honestly, I don't want to date the people I grew up with. It's just something about seeing them with big boogers that doesn't do it for me.

Thank you Holly Kerr for the e-ARC. All thoughts are my own.

When an unfortunate accident happened that left Sophie Laz with two broken toes and Ashton sweating the reality his racing career might be over, his father told him to woo her so she doesn’t press charges. Sophie is loved by everyone as she is sweet and has a smile for everyone. Ashton is known as a grumpy handsome billionaire that is every woman’s dream of dating. Ashton sets out to charm Sophie, but it didn’t take long to realize he enjoyed spending time with her from bringing coffee to her in the mornings to playing games and watching television in front of the fireplace in the evenings. When it suddenly occurs to her why he was spending time with her, will she believe him when he tells her the complete truth.

Playboy billionaire is a little lost and so closed off to love that has him being a bit of a grump! Sophie on the other hand, all sunshine and smiles, despite feeling like she’s been left out in love. Feeling guilty about an accident, Ashton is hanging around Laandia, not his usual habitat, to make sure Sophie is ok with her broken foot - except along the way and helping her recover they both develop feelings. A turn around for the grump and hope for love for our Sophie! A lovely cozy closed door romance, and we’re in Laandia so of course there’s a HEA!

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire is a sweet, closed-door romcom filled with frosty beginnings, winter charm, and one very unlucky meet-cute.
Set in the fictional kingdom of Laandia, this is a standalone story but would be best enjoyed as a sequel to Coffee Break with the Billionaire.'

The characters were delightfully written and likeable and perfect together. Plot was well developed and world building was excellent and solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

I’m really pleased Sophie got her story!

I loved this book. I would never have thought to match her with Ashton. It was fun and exciting. I loved their cozy times together and watching them slowly settle into a relationship with both in a little bit of denial. It was an enjoyable, relaxing read and great for a cold, blustery day. You definitely do not need to read the rest of the series first. It is a great read by itself. That said, I highly recommend this book, especially if you have loved the series.

Hit to her heart

Babysitting the Grumpy Billionaire is a delightful and entertainingly fun book. The story is about Sophie Laz and Ashton Carrington. The story is set in the author's Laandia world which is a nice place to visit. Ashton runs into Sophie on an icy road and things will spiral out of control, even as he fights against it all the way. I love Sophie as she is a young woman who knows who she is and is not really impressed by the flashy race car driver with a lot of money. As they end up spending time together and getting to know each other more feelings begin to grow and that will find them racing to an unexpected winners circle.

This billionaire romance was a lot a fun to read with wonderful characters that you will recognize from the books in this author's royal series.

I always enjoy reading the grumpy vs. sunshine trope. This one was especially fun as you see the transformation from the dark side to sunshine brought on by the sunshiny Sophie. Ashton was not a bad guy. He just needed someone to show him what true happiness looked like.

This swoony, funny romance will delight your heart and tickle your funny bone.

Loved it! A very fun, swoony, no spice story! I love the dual POV and getting to know the characters better.

This book could be read as a stand alone but the story is set in the country of Laandia, which is from the series Love in Laandia. It’s not necessary to read the other series but they are great!

I really enjoyed the FMC and her personality and growth in the story. She is sweet, kind, and everyone loves her. In the other hand, the MMC is not as well loved but he grows through the story into a better person.

I definitely recommend this book!

I thought Ashton was self centered and at the beginning he was thinking of himself after he almost ran over Sophie while he was speeding in the dark and how it would affect his professional driving career. But he spends time with her and does plenty of thoughtful things for her like all the art supplies. They become closer but both get scared they won’t be enough for the other. Sophie is a people pleaser and she needs to speak up about how she feels and what she wants before it’s too late. This is a kisses only opposites attract romance.

An unlikely accident puts kind and beautiful Sophie into the path of grumpy billionaire pro racer, Ashton, and forces him to stay in Laandia for the time being. This was a sweet, clean, opposites attract romance, really focusing on the phenomenal growth of the MMC. Stoic topics like living up to parental expectations and low self-confidence that was beautifully balanced by banter and humorous shenanigans from the main characters. Overall a sweet, lighthearted, closed door romance.

Ashton and Sophia's romance starts in an interesting way when he hits her with his car, and now he is stuck in Laandia until his court date. It turns out that they have to spend time together, and he ends up falling for her, and she with him. Grumpy/sunshine story full of humor and sweet romance.

I loved watching Ashton get his HEA. Fans of the Love in Laandia series will recognize Ashton as one of Abigail's suitors on the Suitorette show. (Not to worry, this can be read as a stand alone)

I loved getting Ashton's POV and watching his character growth. He absolutely had me rooting for him by the end.
Sophie is a gem. She is witty, practical, and completely unimpressed by Ashton's persona. As they slowly open up to each other, guards are lowered and sparks fly.

I love seeing side characters getting their own book! After seeing more of Ashton in Royal Replacement I was excited he was going to be the male lead in this one. And Sophie, Stella’s little sister, is the sweetest. So many times the female main characters have these big personalities that it is nice to see the softer, background, nice girls get their HEA too. I have been loving all the Laandia books and this is no exception.

Ashton is a billionaire without an anchor or purpose. Sophie is the one date wonder. She’s looking for the one but can’t seem to get past a first date. An accident throws Ashton and Sophie together and I enjoyed seeing 5hen developed a friendship as they spend time together. There’s plenty of angst, why is he hanging out with me, does he feel obligated from Sophie. And plenty of she’s to good for me and I don’t do love from Ashton. There’s plenty of chemistry and with no spice!

Ashton races cars for a living and is a son of a billionaire of Carrimgton Toys.
Fenella is Ashton’s twin sister.
Mera, Lavinia and Kate are friends.

This is a nice light romantic comedy , which is a change of pace , fun and opposites attract.
Can Ashton change Sophie’s mind from not being impressed to slowly falling for him and have a Happily Ever After?.

Great Job. Holly Kerr!!!!!
