I loved how easy it was to read (short sections), and to learn how difficult Michelle had it growing up was very difficult to read. I come from a good home and it's heart-wrenching to learn how someone's childhood can be riddled with abuse, ups and downs and end with such distrust. it's amazing that Michelle made it through that to become the resilient, wonderful person she is today.
One note of criticism is that, written like a diary, it can be hard to follow the flow of the book sometimes and I never got clarity i was hoping for regarding her relationship with her brother and what happened to her new baby brother (born after her mom's marriage).
