In a chilling tale of legacy and fate, Baxter follows the life of a young boy born into darkness. Removed from the care of his incarcerated mother, a notorious serial killer, the product of an ungodly romance with her serial killer lover, Baxter was placed under the protection of the UKPPS, an organization dedicated to shielding him from the sinister influences of his lineage.
Now a curious seven-year-old, the shadows of his parents' insanity has awoken the darkness within him. With a blend of innocence and an unsettling potential for violence, Baxter's journey follows him as he tumbles gleefully into the twisted legacy of his serial killer parents; The Parallel Killer and The Master, to become the Prodigal Son.
Baxter, the child of two notorious serial killers is an odd little chap. He likes to ‘break’ things and his adoptive home is just the place to start.
A purposeful short read, but I would love a prequel to flesh out Baxter’s back story; he feels much younger than his given age and I would love to find out more. There’s depth in here screaming to get out, so I’m gonna stay tuned.
An exquisitely painful portrayal of a child killer doing what he does best: stabbing everyone! The poor kid is like a killing machine. What's got into him? Well, I'd say you gotta read the book to find out, but actually the synopsis says it all: he's the product of two infamous serial killers, just awakened to fulfill his heritage. He goes on a murder spree, starting with his foster family. And then the police get involved. But their involvement isn't as straightforward as it seems. A great twist in the end shows that this is a multi-layered story, the kid's killing spree just the tip of the iceberg!
I really hope the story continues. The writing, the characters, the plot twists - everything's too good to simply stop there. I'm not ashamed to say that I liked Baxter, weirdly enough; to the point that I started wondering what might happen if he found himself in the middle of an infection by a certain virus, with a couple of dogs on his side... IYKYK!
Baxter’s parents are serial killers in prison and Baxter is placed in care but he has inherited his parents serial killer habits at seven years old he goes on a brutal killing spree, I hope this turns into a series! This is bloody good!
A brilliant short story filled with gore, filth, humour and so much more! I was lucky enough to be accepted for an ARC read of this and I was not disappointed in the slightest! For a short read, each character was so fantastically portrayed - this would make a fantastically horrifying film, just saying!!!! For someone who doesn't usually read Splatterpunk, I am now officially intrigued about your other work!!!
Two notorious serial killers have a child, together. Baxter Bone. Baxter is unable to be with his parents, due to their incarceration, and is placed under the care of another family. Baxter is a peculiar boy. He is definitely not like other little 7 year old boys. Baxter doesn't feel. The only thing that brings him enjoyment, and peaks his curiosity is the thought, and action of breaking things...especially people. After fleeing from where he was placed, having broken everything around him, Baxter sets out on a journey through the dark forest, no real direction in mind. Baxter, along the way, find more people he can "play with", and he does just that. Believing that Baxter may have been kidnapped, the UKPPS is in a race to find him. But, what will they discover along the way? And, what will they find when, and if they do find him? This was amazing! Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Kelvin! I find his writing very visceral, and gripping. This was no exception! It grabbed me from page one, shook me like a newborn baby, and didn't let go until the twist ending. This is absolutely worth the read, and I highly recommend this to people who love gore, humor, a bit of nastiness, and if you are a fan of Kelvin's, in general! Bye...see you later...boop! 5⭐
When I got this little shocker dropped into my DMs I already knew it would be good… however I was not prepared for just how good. Baxter is a little boy who just needs to be loved, adopted after his parents could no longer look after him, he found the perfect family and lived happily ever after… ok so Kelvin V A Allison - author wrote this, I can’t even pretend the start is happy, never mind the middle or end… but it’s exactly what you would expect to be reading from Kelvin, and I was invested. I finished this in one sitting and if I don’t get more from this little boy, there will be trouble… “Bye… see you later… boop.”
A little boy goes on a killing spree, starting with his foster family. Baxter is the love child of two serial killers known as The Master and The Parallel Killer, who are both in prison doing time for their crimes. Meanwhile, their kid has broken free of the family he was placed with temporarily and is now on the loose.
Will he be able to meet up with his parents before he gets caught? Will he continue his rampage to satiate his bloodlust? You'll never know unless you read it!
One thing's for sure though. We'll see you later!...boop!
Baxter by Kelvin V A Allison - author, Baxter is born to two notorious serial killers, The Master and The Parralel Killer. Was evil born or was evil made? Removed from the parents at birth and placed with foster carers, how long will evil take to manifest itself? Baxter likes breaking things, and breaking people. One night, the inevitable happens, and Baxters true side comes out. A orgy of death and destruction ensues as the story bounds along, with a twist at the end I didn't see coming. If you've read anything from this author, you will know what mayhem to expect. Ten boops out of ten 😊
Baxter by Kelvin V A Allison - author I was so grateful to receive an ARC of this amazing book. Kelvin is literally my hero and who I aspire to be like in my own writing. I love this book. Its so well written. Kelvin has the talent of making gory writing sound beautifully poetic and with heart. Baxter is one scary little prick and I could imagine this book as a film. Avidly awaiting the sequel! Read this book immediately, but check your triggers.
A very interesting short read. Little Baxter son of two murderers seems he’s on the mission to carry on what his parents had started. Crime scene after crime seen was visited by a detective and their colleagues but little did I know what was going to happen next when they eventually found little Baxter. To be continued? Let’s hope so!
Such a beautiful picture of modern family life , bringing seven year old orphaned boy Baxter into the family home will change Samantha Yamenza and her families lives for ever , such a kind deed , he was treated with love and affection from the outset and repaid their kindness in a totally life changing way , all I can say is Boop
Kelvin takes the creepy, evil kid trope a whole new level. Baxter is a true monster that splashes the page crimson with brutality. If you're on the fence about having kids, this will cure you of the desire.
