Project Star Pickle

A Darkly Humorous Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Romp

When an alien crystal crashes through your roof and fuses itself to your hand, the worst part isn't the scar—it's the telepathic parasite that comes with it.

Jack Cobb was having a bad day before everything got worse. Now he's the unwilling host to a logophile consciousness that won't shut up, the key to an alien technology he doesn't understand, and humanity's unlikely last chance against an extinction event nobody saw coming. The crystal doesn't just mark him—it marks him as essential to assembling a machine that might save what's left of civilization.

With the world fracturing at the seams and shadowy forces hunting him for what's embedded in his flesh, Jack and his impossible companion are locked in a race against time, governmental conspiracies, and their own survival instincts. Every decision could be salvation or catastrophe. Every answer raises deadlier questions.

This is a darkly hilarious collision of cosmic horror and hope—where sarcasm is a survival tool, alien tech turns the rules of reality inside out, and the line between saving the world and ending it is written in blood and 80s pop culture references. Perfect for listeners who love Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy's irreverent humor, Aliens' relentless tension, and stories where the heroes are flawed, exhausted, and just trying to make it to tomorrow.

A fun premise, with interesting characters and story. Silly and weird.

It's a bit God-bothering in parts, if that's an issue for you. I guess the author might have religion.

Also, in the audiobook, the inexplicable cockneys sound like Victorian children cos playing as football hooligans. Very odd choice.

Absolutely loved it. The audiobook was so well done! I thought the narrator really nailed all the quirky characters personalities and tones. The book was definitely a wild ridiculous ride that had me laughing out loud in multiple parts. Definitely recommend for a weekend read!
