I'm at the mercy of a monster. What started as a game between rivals, turned into a war between families. I didn’t ask to be in the middle of either. My plan for Riverside Prep was simple. Get in and get out with my head down, so I could attend my dream university. But the universe had plans too, which became clear the moment I walked in on something I shouldn’t have. My name is Hendrix Montgomery, and I was seduced by a stranger in the dark. I thought I left him back in that room. Turns out I was wrong. Because now the stranger has a name, and everybody knows it. Saint Lavell is not only Riverside’s star quarterback, he’s gorgeous, charming, and loyal to a fault. But there’s a monster hiding inside him. One I made the mistake of provoking. And the universe made sure I can never escape.
Vicious Saint is book 2 in The Royal Heathens series, and can be read as a standalone. But, for a better understanding of the backstory, I recommend starting with Satan's Spawn.
This book pulled me in to the crazy world of Saint and Hendrix and would not let go check your trigger warning there is some wild possessive obsession from the mmc to the fmc but don't get me wrong Hendrix is a strong sassy
This was PERFECTION! Saint is my new book boyfriend now and this book my fav dark romance! I cannot recommend it enough, to all my dark romance girlies this gives Joker and Harley Quinn vibes
💚💙The good, bad, ugly. I want all of it.Now. Forever. Through Heaven or the worse circle of Hell💙💚
"What Saint finds God then ends up in Hell? Especially in the Tenth Circle--- where there's no room for the righteous or religious--- because this spot's been reserved for the Saint who found God by being called Vicious."
"She's becoming a possession far more dangerous than Vicious, because earlier I found out not only does she have the power to summon my monster, she has the power to suppress him too."
"I'll become the monster I never wanted her to see."
"Because Jimi, I waited a long time to see what your eyes look like when they smile at me! And now that I have, I know I would've chosen you regardless."
"It was me who hurt you first, Jimi. So I promise to never let anyone else hurt you ever again."
"He had an ego that rivaled my passion. A persistence that tore down my walls. A charm that made it impossible to build them back up. His darkness. His light. Every broken piece of him that mirrored my own."
"I may not have foreseen the explosion between us, but my heart burns for Saint in a way that screams it would die without him. The good, the bad, the ugly. I want all of it. Now. Forever. Through Heaven or the worse circle of Hell."
There are no words for me to describe how AMAZING this book was. Such a fantastic follow-up to Satan's Spawn OMG. I thought Crayton was my favorite screwed up broken psycho but no Saint just topped that. Sorry Cray Cray 😭😂😂. I love how this author fully fleshes out her characters and back stories. It really adds to the plot and emotions in these books. This story was darker than the first and that says a lot because book one was dark. The mental health issues in this book were done perfectly. The detailed scenarios and emotions the author provoked made me feel like I was said character going through this trauma. The spice was top tier sexy as hell 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I love all the religious back drops in this series. I also love all the Riverdale references!
This story follows Hendrix and Saint. You already met these two in the first book. You get more of their back story in the beginning of this book, and then it hits present day. These two were always at each other's throats and goading each other. The banter was hilarious 😂 and the spice and sexual tension/chemistry was off the charts 🥵🥵. I knew since the first time they met that they were both obsessed with each other but also in denial 🤣. They love to fight, chase, and piss each other off a lot. The plot of this book really picked up mid book and threw a few twists in there I wasn't expecting. I was engaged and on my seat to see what was next.
My heart and soul bled for poor Saint. The demons this boy dealt with made me so emotional 😭😭. I loved seeing inside his head and what he felt during those horrible moments. Hendrix in a way was a mirrored version to him. They both had a lot of darkness and anger. Hendrix brought out his demons but could also tame them. Saint also could help heal her and make her feel safe. These two were perfect for each other. Their bond was unbreakable. I love how protective they both were of each other and their loved ones. Seeing these two finally get together, share some peace, and get their hard earned HEA was everything.
Let's talk about the side characters. I loved Theory and felt so bad for her. I have a feeling she will get with Levi. Levi is funny but queit and stoic. Can't wait to see more of him. I love Archer and Bex with Hendrix. That trio is unstoppable. Something tells me Archer will get with Riggs. Please let the next book be them and be MM. I would die for that book 😫. My poor Carlos. That broke me and I cried 😭😞. Dante intrigues me and I need more. I loved seeing more from Cray and Bex! Poor Cray. I hope he gets his happy ending soon 😭. This is such a phenomenal series and I can't wait for the next book. I wish it was out now!!
After meeting these two in Satan’s Spawn, I just knew it was going to be explosive. What i was not expecting was the sheer amount of emotional WRECKAGE that Saint and Hendrix put me through!
No one would expect the star quarterback for Riverside Prep to want anything to do with a girl who is not 'barbie doll' perfect. Hendrix may not be a size two, but she refuses to let society dictate her self worth. She stands up for herself and her friends.
The mind games start out mild but the heat quickly begins to intensify when she starts to see sides of Saint that he is desperate to keep hidden.
The cost for two people fighting for their "beautiful darkness" against a hostile world is the potential destruction of their relationship, their identity, and their humanity. The journey, full of plot twists and turns, often requires them to confront their inner darkness and make morally ambiguous choices.
The wait for this book was worth every minute. The author poured every emotion into this book. If I could give it 10 stars I would, and the last lines of the book... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!
SPOILERS: While I find some of this story hard to believe (because 18 year olds aren’t that articulate lol), the heat, passion, love, hate, and everything in between makes up for any loss of fantasy! I would have loved more interaction with Vicious and Hen…but, I get why the book went in the direction it did.
But…Carlo! How could you Danda?! The father she would never get to have! *cries*
Analie, on the other hand, I wish would have gotten some kind of redemption - the mean bully arc is so overplayed and I would have really enjoyed watching her turn into a girls’ girl but again I understand why her c*ntiness was needed.
On another note, the mother is wretched quite frankly, and the step dad is a wet rag. Not impressed by their actions or the ending on that end. I will say I’d love to hear more of Dante and his story.
As for the upcoming books, I’m HERE for an MM with Riggs and Archer and I already know we’ll be seeing more of Saint when book 4 comes out and Theory has her moment with the deep sea monster.
All in all, a delightfully dark, romp in the forest was this 700+ page reader! Thank you as always…I will be back
After Satans Spawn I knew I wanted to know more about Cray’s best friend Saint. I also knew that he and Hendrix would be absolutely explosive. Hendrix is a rare strong FMC that will burn down the world for those she loves and I fell in love with her in book 1.
Their love was a long time coming. It takes a year before they finally give in and it isn’t smooth sailing once they jump in. At times I had to remind myself they’re still both essentially kids. I know they’re 18/19 but they don’t have the emotionally maturity an adult would. They act first, think later, and it takes a long time for them battling each other, mainly in Saint’s end, until they get their HEA.
I appreciated the way mental illness was portrayed and how it was treated delicately. Saint is literally afraid of himself. He wants to protect Hendrix. The body positivity is off the charts. I love a curvy fmc.
Also I’m ready for Annalie and Alexis to get what’s coming to them and disappear. Two books of them is about all I can take lol.
5⭐️. My babies! Loved this one. Completely worth the wait. You get Saint’s comic relief in the first book..and while he does have a couple zingers, his inner mind is sooo much more deep and heavy.
And Hendrix is every bit the baddie she was in Satan’s Spawn. She and Saint were a powder keg and BOOOM! This one isn’t as much of a bully book as its predecessor but that’s moreso because Bex was more meek than Hendrix. Way more tit for tat in this one and it was so fun. Our girl has no problem showing her teeth and her demons dance with Saint’s so well.
Ate up the scenes with Archer, Bex and Cray also. Hoping we see Alexis eat a bullet for her role with all the drama in book 1 and Carlo in this book.
Love this series and I picked up on the trail of who the next books will be about and I say BRING EM ONNNN!
It's been 84 years since we have been waiting for his book! LOL JK NO but this book was worth the wait for sure! After reading Satan's Spawn I knew I needed more Hendrix her feisty side had me intrigued to say the least she always stood up for herself and her friends her no f's given attitude is one I love in an FMC! This book was addictive from start to finish! Literally Saint is every girl's wet dream come to life, ok maybe not every girl but maybe a little bit mine! I love me an FMC who has a darker side to them! Saint is literally my new favorite sorry Cray! This book was literally worth every moment, and I couldn't get enough of Saint and Hendrix!
I was really looking forward to this book. The one good thing I want to say is; the one liner comeback quips were well timed and funny. The rest of the story was a messy tangle of way too many characters and stories. Saint/Vicious and Hendrix could have been a phenomenal story with some suspense thrown in to maintain the angsty high school vibe and bully theme but alas, this one failed. It was just all over the place and it lost me in the first couple chapters but had hope, so I read the whole thing. Painful is how I would describe getting through this story. Very painful. I have no hope for “The Sinner” or “The Savage”..
We have been waiting for this one, and it is *totally worth it!* Jenna Styx absolutely nailed it with *Vicious Saint.*
This dark romance has all the feels — it’s an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. Hendrix, the FMC, is fierce, raw, and completely unforgettable, while Saint is pure, drool-worthy perfection with just the right edge of danger.
I absolutely *devoured* their story. Every page pulled me in deeper until I couldn’t put it down. If you love intensity, passion, and characters who burn bright even in the darkness, *Vicious Saint* is a must-read!
The emotional coaster is strong with this one! Have tissues ready throughout the book but I promise u any heartbreak u have will be healed throughout the book!!! It is by far my top read of this month! I absolutely adore Saint and Hendrix! I love them more than Cray and Bex (shhh don’t tell them that though) I finished this book in about 48hrs which for me is a new record. I was that into it that I just needed to know what all happened!!
The long awaited book two in the Royal Heathens series is here, and it's definitely been worth the wait!
Saint was a character I really enjoyed seeing in the first book, and I was so excited to jump in and read his story. It's filled with twists, spice, drama and lots of moments that will have you laughing out loud at some of the antics.
Jenna has done a fantastic job with this story and I can't wait to read even more from her!
This was definitely worth the wait for the second book. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I love enemies to lovers and this book definitely had that.
Additional tropes: ✅ Enemies to lovers ✅ Other woman drama ✅ Betrayal and grovel
Detailed spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.
This is book two in the Royal Heathen series. While it is a standalone, there will be spoilers for book one in this book. The main characters and secondary characters make their first appearance in book one as well.
The FMC is Hendrix. The story begins with orientation at her new school, which she is attending only because her mom has recently come into some new money. She meets the MMC although it is not known to either of them given the circumstances of that first meeting.
As the story progresses, the FMC endures some bullying but trust me when I say, she gives as good as she gets. Most of these interactions take place between the FMC and the other woman in the story, who happens to be one of many girls the MMC occasionally sleeps with.
The MMC is Saint, and through his perspective we learn a little more about his inner demons and watch as his obsession with Hendrix starts to take hold. The banter and tension between the main characters is very intense. When it is announced that Saint’s father and Hendrix’s mom are to be married, that possessiveness and obsession gets next level and Saint vows to do anything he can to protect Hendrix from a mysterious and looming threat we learn is building as our story progresses. Hendrix can tell and feel something is going on but is left in the dark about everything. There are a lot of secrets that she will ultimately find out about.
When the truth of everything is finally revealed, she is devastated and makes a decision that puts her in great danger, and when Saint finds out, he goes to a very dark place to ensure she is safe again.
Forgiveness isn’t easy, but Hendrix wants to move on a path to get to that place with all of the important people in her life, while also pursuing her dreams and goals. Saint vows to be wherever she is as he also works on his own healing.
⚠️SPOILERS/SPICE/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️
*Descriptive and on page violence 🌶️: 3.5/5: The MMC is a very bad boy
Final thoughts: I absolutely loved this book. The angst from the banter and tension between the main characters was off the charts. Hendrix is such a bad ass and didn’t take shit from anyone. I loved that she let her guard down with Carlos making his death so damn hard.
I also love that when the truth of everything was revealed, she didn’t just jump right to forgiving everyone. It’s clear she will heal and forgive at her own pace as that’s where the end of the book leaves us. I loved the MMC so freaking much. His loyalty and possessiveness is unmatched. The spice was so damn good. The bullying themes are mild so even if that’s not your thing, it will not take away from this amazing story.
This story truly has everything good you want in a dark romance and I cannot recommend it enough.
