Rate this book
THE EVERLAST DEFEND THE FLEETING.
UNTIL THE FLEETING TRANSCEND THE PAST.

Nora Everstar’s name has been etched atop The Vitoska since the day she walked through The Conservatory’s starstone gates. And it will not be felled now, not when she is one Canon away from becoming a full-fledged warrior of The Spectraline Shield—the ruthless immortal guard sworn to protect Lesserkind. Solars beyond and worlds below, Savallin Prim is named the youngest-ever Majlis of The Covenary. She has it all—cunning, charm, celestial beauty—everything, save time.

It matters not that they are goddess-blessed, their names will fade nevertheless—for nothing quiets legend quite like history.

Centuries pass, kingdoms fall, and Nora and Savallin disappear into myth. But the blight they were born to banish, it has survived. It has lived on. For evil never quiets. No, it blares through the ages. Yet, amidst the gleaming sky towers of The Mortal City, a wayward heir of heroes long-forgotten is ever listening.

AGE-SWORN RIVALS MUST UNITE TO CONQUER IMPOSSIBLE PERIL BORN ANEW IN THIS LABYRINTHIAN, TIME-TWINING FANTASY DEBUT.

I cared deeply for the characters, their stories from the past, the present and what they would face in the future. I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see how they were going to handle the obstacles they were facing. At times I laughed at their smart ass humor other times I cried over their loss. The setting was amazing as well, the author did a wonderful job describing the scenery where all of the action was taking place. Some of the places the characters stories took them were stunning, other places had you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see how it was all going to play out.
I have read a lot of Fantasy and I would say this is at the top of my list!

This book started out a little slow for me. There is a lot of information and details in the beginning, and overall it just took me a little bit to understand this world fully. However, everything at the beginning is so important. I loved how everything started to fall into place. Once everything stated coming together, I flew through this book!
This world was truly so interesting and fun to read about. The magic and adventure was wonderfully written! You follow four amazing female characters, Nora, Ava, Everly, and Sav. Each one had different qualities that I loved about them! The why these characters were written made them feel real and allowed me to connect with them and the book overall.
I definitely recommend picking Kingdom of Time up. Be patient and it will take you on an adventurous ride! I can’t wait for book two!

Kingdom of time was an Intense read( in a good way! ) I enjoyed the strong female representation. Of course my favorite is NORA and SAVA-🤓duh. The world building was the intense part of the book, but as you keep reading it all makes sense. The descriptive writing was on POINT!! This book is great for epic fantasy readers that enjoy multi POV, magic, slow burn, force proximity, banter and deadly trials. Thank you Luz .E. Kanin for this intricately written eARC.

Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really wanted to like this book, but it just never came together for me. Finishing was a struggle. I was so confused for most of it. The style of writing mixed with the lack of glossary to decipher what specific terms meant made this very hard for me to make sense of. I hope others really enjoy it but, unfortunately, this one was just not for me.

I was given an ARC to read and review. I enjoyed this book. There were a few quirks that made it a little difficult but my overall enjoyment of the story made it four stars.
Each chapter is with a different character. The chapter headings tell you where that specific part of the story takes place and by association, who it is that will star in the chapter. It's confusing at first because you're thrown into this universe and then each chapter has a different character. Once you get to know the characters and each setting, it gets easier.
I love the different worlds we're introduced to. I love the strong women in each part of the story and how they each dominate and show such strength in each of their battles. The language is descriptive and provides imagery. My one complaint about the language is how the author uses groups of three to describe things. One paragraph says, "... under the water, until she did the one thing she hated most in this world, until she did the one thing she hated most in this eternity -- until she gave up." And the next paragraph says, "...while the coughing fit violently racked her body, while she convulsed and fought to gulp down air, while the male ...". It gets a little old and hard to focus on the actual story because of the repetition.
I grew to root for Nora and Stassie, the competitive twins; Everly, the outcast, living in a modern era; Savallin Prim, on a quest to solve a mystery and who travels over perilous terrain; and Ava -- who is she, really? What is she dealing with?
There is a violent relations in this book but I don't remember it being erotic, which I appreciate. There is a lot of fighting, battles, and a fair amount of gore. There is also a lot of language, especially with Everly and Ava.
I hope I haven't missed any of the characters, but I really liked those that I listed. The supporting eternal men were also fun to cheer on. And hold on for the twist at the end. There's a couple!
There were some cool inventions that I haven't run into in other books, like the lastisap and silver blood of eternal beings, halflings are not cute hobbit-like creatures, and something that heals and changes time called seraphease.
The physical copy of the book has art at the beginning of each chapter and at the beginning and end of the book. I loved that there was a mini history lesson at the end, complete with a pronounciation guide.
I would recommend this book for fantasy lovers and adventure lovers, especially those who enjoy stories that feel like the beginning of a saga and vast universe.

The Good:

The world is unique with its own twists and inventive uses of magic.

Most characters are intriguing, and the slow reveal of their back stories leaves you wanting to know more about them.

There are many mysteries and questions left by the end of the book that make you
want to know more.

The Bad:

Worldbuilding at times was lacking. A new term would be introduced with no
context behind it and then would be revealed in several chapters later. This left me confused, and I had to backtrack to make sure I understood what I was reading. I would likely have a better understanding if I reread the book, but I have no desire to reread just to get clarity.

Italicization was significantly overused. It was supposed to provide emphasis, but
when it is used in every other paragraph (or sometimes every other sentence), it
loses all meaning.

One character felt unnecessary until the last few chapters and was used to build a
story for a different character. Since she felt a bit useless, I was not invested in her
story.

The plot was unclear for the majority of the book. This felt more like a prequel to
building a world rather than building a plot for the first book of a series.

Given all this feedback, I am greatly looking forward to what she writes with the rest of the series and plan to continue to read her future books.

Where to start with this book! I absolutely enjoyed the world building and magic system this book has. Plus every chapter has cute artwork to stare at for five minute before continuing reading and the cover of the book?! BEAUTIFUL!!!

I was lucky to receive an ARC copy of this book and I couldn’t wait to start it. At the beginning I was very confused, the time jump between each characters storylines wasn’t 100% clear. But as you read, you get the hang of it and understand each timeline. The story does start off slow, giving you backstories of each female lead—BUT TRUST THE PROCESS!!! I PROMISE IT WILL ALL MAKE SENSE LATER!!!

Each female lead’s stories at some point in time do connect together. Each chapter/timeline gives you glimpses of what had happened, but not the why, so continuing to read and explore more of the stories and timelines, it connects and answers all the questions you have from chapters before.

The storyline was so interesting and I just really loved how each character and their story was connected in some way to create the world and bigger picture.

I look forward to the next few books in this series and I recommend this book to everyone looking for a new fantasy unique read!

{Do not get slowed down reading just because you are going between POV’s and timelines. The timelines, flashbacks, and journey have a purpose. The writing style is unique.}

Where do I begin…what I thought I was figuring out was partially correct and also not complete which I love! I love a story that makes me dig and think and try to figure out what’s going on. This is not a “once upon a time” set up. There are multiple POV’s as well as multiple timelines. In addition there are some flashbacks within the timelines that will get you thinking. This has a strong world building and character set up for, what I hope will be, a series. The door is wide open for a book 2 and all of my questions did not get answered. Yay! This was an EPIC read for me and I loved it.

This book is a MUST read for everyone!!! I rarely make book reviews but this book was PHENOMENAL!!! One of my best reads of 2025. I mean I even had a DREAM about one of my favorite characters, Nora!!

The magic, the fights, and the strong female leads had my attention from the beginning to the end. I also enjoy the humor and sly comments from the FMCs. I got a couple of chuckles out of it. Now don't get me started on the plot twist!!! The captivating art inside the book was beautifully done too.The author also did a great job on her how she described each characters and their worlds. I look forward to read more from the author.

This book was very interesting. It had a slow start to get you acclimated to the world. The magic system was unique and fun to learn about. There is multiple pov and different timelines so it takes some getting used to. Once you’re used to it then the story starts to take off and everything starts tying together. Learning about each of the characters and seeing them grow throughout the story was nice. It was interesting to see how the timelines played into each other. There was deadly trials, immortals, rivals to allies, and hidden identity. Overall, it was a fun fantasy to read and I thought the ending was well done and mind boggling

Kingdom of Time completely pulled me in! The world is so rich and mysterious, full of ancient magic, hidden legends, and characters that actually feel real. I loved following Nora and Savallin — they’re so different, but both brave and determined in their own ways. Watching their stories slowly connect was one of my favorite parts!

The beginning has a lot of detail, but once I got into it, I couldn’t stop reading. The ending left me so ready for the next book — I need to know what happens next!

This was an enjoyable read with four very different female leads whose stories take you through all kinds of places and unexpected adventures. Each storyline has its own pace and tone, but they all fit together so well.

The characters each go through their own challenges—some physical, some magical, some just plain strange—and that variety kept things interesting without ever feeling overwhelming.

The ending delivers a twist I didn’t see coming, and it left me wanting the next book!! This is a must read!

If you enjoy intelligent, well written, multi POV, BAD BOOTY FMCs cut across 4 different timelines this book is for you.
I will admit at first the cutting timelines was very confusing. I had no idea where I was, what was happening, whose timeline I was following, who was where, but after a while you get the hang of it!
I would also suggest a glossary as there are so many terms and world building in here that I had no idea what half of them meant.
This is truly a book you have to pay attention for - no distractions - but if you are looking for an SMART fantasy, this is for you!

I absolutely loved getting to read this ARC! It’s such a fun, action-packed fantasy with four amazing female leads—each strong, unique, and totally captivating in her own way. The story is full of excitement and heart, and I really enjoyed following all the different POVs. My fav was Everly, we have a similar love for food! I felt every bit of action and emotion in this twisting adventure. Overall, such an empowering and entertaining read. Can't wait for book 2!

Super excited to be an ARC reader, this book was such a ride — full of adventure, mystery, and magic that kept me hooked the whole way through.

There’s also this one guy (you’ll know who I mean) who’s just the sweetest — always cooking and staying hopeful even though the girl he obvs has it bad for has total black-cat energy. Their dynamic had me grinning the whole time.

By the end, I was completely blown away. What a twist! Can’t wait to see more from this author.

Disclaimer: Was gifted this ARC to review

Enjoyable story, if you like time bending tales of fantasy (think Wheel of Time and even Lion Witch and Wardrobe)

Being Godess blessed also made me thing of Saga of the Unfated

While this story had a good heart and was written well, the style was hard for me to fully dive into
But that does not mean don’t give it a chance, there is a book for every reader and sometimes taking a chance leads you to your next great read and this might be it!

This story was a little hard to get into. There are a lot of details right off the bat which seemed overwhelming to start a story off. As the story developed the detailed started to all come together. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Review of advance copy received from Author
December 18, 2025
At first, the book felt a bit slow, but Luz, the author, was super helpful with my questions and even gave me a glossary, which really made things click. This book is packed with details, so I'd say take your time reading it to really get everything. The first few chapters throw a lot of info and different places at you. Once I started putting things together, I understood how everything connected way better. I especially love how unique and strong all the characters are. The magic, legends, and world-building Luz created are just awesome. I can't wait to read Book Two to see how Eva, Sav, Everly, and Nora's stories come together and to get answers to all my lingering questions. If you're patient, you'll totally fall in love with all the different parts of this world!

Kingdom of Time
By Luz Evan Kanin
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Luz Evan Kanin’s debut is an ambitious, expertly crafted entry into the romantasy genre that successfully balances high-stakes action with a complex, multi-generational narrative. The story centers on Nora Everstar, a fierce warrior of the immortal Spectraline Shield, and Savallin Prim, a cunning Majlis. Though they were once mythic rivals, the return of an ancient evil forces their legacies to collide in a modern world that has long forgotten the true cost of their original sacrifices.

The narrative shines through its "time-twining" structure, weaving together the mythic past and the gleaming, gritty sky towers of the present day. Following four distinct female leads provides a panoramic view of this world, ensuring the pacing remains brisk while allowing for deep character development. Each protagonist carries their own emotional weight, making the political intrigue and celestial battles feel personal and urgent rather than just background noise.

Kanin’s prose is both atmospheric and detailed, particularly in how she depicts the distortion of history over time. Watching the wayward heirs in "The Mortal City" piece together the truth behind Nora and Savallin’s legend is incredibly rewarding. Kingdom of Time is a powerful start to the Heir of Everseries, offering a fresh take on fate and immortality that will leave you eager for the next book 📖.

10/10 Highly recommend to family and friends
