I don’t expect to lose my breath the moment I step into Maple Falls...
But then I see him... my neighbor. Broad shoulders, a commanding presence, and a firefighter’s uniform that makes my pulse quicken. A man carved from quiet strength and shadows of loss.
A man I tell myself could never look at me that way… And yet, when our eyes meet, my heart stumbles in a way it never has before.
I tell myself to keep my distance, he’s older and a widowed single dad. Ryan Davis, a man who swore he’d never open his heart again.
But one forbidden kiss changes everything, awakening a hunger I’ve never known, and a secret I’ve kept I’ve never been with anyone before.
Now every glance lingers, every touch burns hotter, and I can’t escape the question circling in my chest…
What happens if a man who vowed never to love again discovers that he is my very first?
The Single Dad Firefighter is a short, sweet, and steamy small-town instalove romance with a happy-ever-after. It can be read as a standalone or together with the rest of the books in the Maple Fire Department.
When Emily arrives in Maple Falls, she’s ready for a quiet new start—not the sight of her devastatingly handsome next-door neighbor, Ryan Davis, a single dad and local firefighter with a past that still flickers behind his steady eyes. Ryan is the kind of man who carries both strength and sorrow in his silence, and the moment their paths cross, Emily feels her carefully guarded world tilt.
What begins as neighborly politeness turns into something deeper—an undeniable pull that neither can ignore. But with Ryan’s heart still mending from loss and Emily harboring a secret of her own, every look, every touch, every forbidden kiss feels like walking the edge between healing and heartbreak.
Bloom writes with such emotional honesty that you can feel the hesitation, the yearning, and the hope simmering beneath every page. Ryan isn’t your typical alpha hero—he’s tender, patient, and quietly protective, the kind of man who rebuilds love brick by careful brick. And Emily’s innocence, courage, and warmth make her the perfect match for a man learning to believe in second chances.

The Single Dad Firefighter is a short, heartwarming read that delivers a dose of sweetness and small-town charm in just 145 pages. Lana Bloom creates an easy-to-love story about healing, connection, and finding love when you least expect it.
I really enjoyed the gentle warmth between Ryan, the devoted single dad, and Emily, whose presence brings light back into his life. My favorite scene was when Mason and Emily played together in the leaves Ryan was raking — it perfectly captured the cozy, family-centered heart of the story. The kiss in the rain was another highlight — romantic, cinematic, and beautifully written.
While I wished the story was a little longer to explore the characters more deeply, it’s a lovely, feel-good read that’s perfect for an afternoon escape. If you enjoy short, wholesome romances with single dad charm and soft, emotional moments, this one’s worth picking up.

Before this romance book by Lana, I had never read anything by her but WOW what a talent this author has to share with everyone. Ryan and Emily are 2 of the most amazing characters to read in this HOT single dad firefighter book. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED reading this HOT page turner of a book and will be anxiously waiting for Lana's next romance book.
He’s her neighbor and his son is in her class. They have feelings for each other, are they brave enough to try? Really cute couple, his son is a hoot and the emotions are real. This story will have you smiling all through it.
A beautiful quick read with a small hint of spice. Little boy is just adorable and the moments they share as a family is just too cute. A good quick cozy read.
