This is a not a rating of Scripture but a rating of the translation. It is a strange halfway between a modern translation and the Douay-Rheims. I much prefer one or the other rather than the strange and clunky middle offered by this translation. The translation I mainly use is the RSV-2CE, and I very much enjoy the KJV and Douay-Rheims for older translations. I have also grown to enjoy Monsignor Knox’s translation of Scripture. However, this edition does have some notes in it, and for what they are (very short and few), they are very well done. I would read this edition again for simply the notes, even if the translation is awkward in places and somewhat banal.
